    I tried this foundation years ago and I couldn't get it to work for me and then I worked at sephora and learned that you are supposed to swirl the brush into the product for about a minute because what it does is warm up the minerals and makes it more creamy rather than powdery and that's how you get it to have more coverage

      Britney Cayton Shelby Wilson used to work for Bare Minerals and has some great how to’s with it. The big thing is skin prep. The creamy part cones from really working it into the skin, assuming you have moisturizer on your skin. She did one in real time so you could see how much buffing was required. Taylor totally has the apply a little at a time bit part. I love it but it isn’t Double Wear. I do what LisaLisad1 does. I layer thin layers of several products. For example this is awesome over Shiseido Sport bb. Nice.

      The kabuki one? If so then same. It's so unique and only brush that worked for me to get that shit powder to cream kind of affect when I effortlessly and firmly buff into the skin. I will used it for 10+yrs and am thinking of buying more for those days I want a quick makeup application.

      Look up a video on how to use the product. You really have to buff the product into the brush and buff it into your face. Like tap the product into the lid and buff it into the brush with circular motion until you don't see anymore product in the lid. This gives me high medium and glowy coverage

      When I try it in other people it looks great, on me doesn't look so good. It emphasize my pores the more I buff the product in the skin.
      But I do love this product but not as foundation. I love it as a bronzer when applied on my "poreless area" (like the contours of my face and upper half of my nose bridge)
      It has all the undertones and intensities for the perfect bronzer for you. Just my opinion.

      I love this foundation for daily wear. I usually conceal under my eyes and on any places where I feel like I need it. And then i usually use a flat top kabuki brush and press the foundation into my skin all over, and then buff after I’m done. It looks so nice and dewy on my skin.

  • @heidisapp

    I use to use this for 10yrs and the ONLY way I could make it work was with the bare minerals kabuki brush. You have to use more product than they suggest for sure and really buff in firmly as you apply. It turns almost into a cream when you do this and builds beautifully and is so quick once you get the hang of it. It will look so airbrushed and natural with that brush.

    I worked at a bare minerals for 5 years selling the makeup and skincare. Several things, the recommended amount is for light coverage. I usually gave myself 3 taps of product into the lid to work with. Swirl that real good. Second, the brush you are using to apply is all wrong for full coverage. It would definitely take forever to build. Bare minerals sells an angled full coverage brush that is super dense that I used to apply the foundation with in more of a “packing” motion. The coverage is totally dependent on whatever brush you are using.

  • @iturnmycameraoff

    Ohhhh, you know what it might be? The PRIMER. I tried this foundation with a silicone-y primer and it slid/wouldn't stick to my face, but then I tried it with just moisturizer and it worked. I also tried it with a tacky primer and that worked, too.

    This is my go to foundation after accutane. I had the same problem as you. I do not do the swirl tap buff I put the product in the cap and pick it up with a very dense brush and pack it on. the liquid BM foundations and the barePro powder foundation does not have bismuth oxychloride in it, neither does the blemish rescue loose powder. so there are quite a few options to try from them that do not have this ingredient that some of the population is allergic to.

    Random story, but I’ll always associate Bare Minerals with the time my best friend stole all my makeup lol. It was middle school, I was sleeping over at her house, and had brought my makeup bag over, which consisted of BM and covergirl, I had like 6 different BM face products that my mother passed on to me. I forgot my bag over there and when I went back the next day to grab it, she said she hadn’t seen it. I asked several times over the next few days and she kept saying she’d keep an eye out. When I finally went back over to her house, I followed her to her room and low and behold, there’s my makeup strewn all across her floor and dresser. I just turned around and left, didn’t say anything. I knew she had lied so she could keep it. We had to get our parents involved, and finally she gave up about half the makeup, the rest she “couldn’t find.” That friendship dissipated quickly.

I let her borrow my makeup box for halloween because I had alot of useful stuff in there, and when she gave it back she said her brother had gotten into it, half my stuff was broken, and over a quarter of it was missing. She also broke my cd player she borrowed. She never borrowed my stuff again and our friendship was strained after that. So much allowance went into that makeup.

Then I buff it circular motions to blend it out and it works great. I top it off with Mineral Veil in the t-zone an Hydrating Veil everywhere else. I was taught to tap the brush upside down (brush head upwards), to load the brush with powder. You could give it a try maybe? I occasionally use it over foundation, but only when I use lighter coverage ones, so it doesn't look too cakey.

    I wore Bare Minerals throughout my late 30s and 40s, and into my 50s. I loved that it was fair enough for me and so easy and beautiful to use until it just stopped working. It took years to find new foundations that worked, but for that more than a decade when it worked, it was wonderful! I started my daughter on it when she was a teen but she found it too much work. I was Marie Kondo-ing today and found a sealed Mineral Veil. I’m going to give it a shot for the fun of it. What I really miss are their loose shadows and a loose blush they discontinued eons ago. When they were bought by Shiseido, I thought what was unique about them was lost. And so ends my trip down memory lane.

So I actually don’t start out with a small amount of product, I dump out enough for my whole face and instead of swirling my brush in the lid, I just tap it into the lid to pick up the most product, and then I stipple it on to my face first before blending. It actually gives me pretty decent coverage for being a loose powder!

    It always surprises me how many people actually love this foundation. I used it in high school per my dermatologist's recommendation. So when it started giving me bad cyctic acne I was so in denial. It didn't even cross my mind that it was the makeup at first because the dermatologist made it sound like it was the best thing ever for sensitive skin. When I finally stopped using it my face stopped itching for the first time in months and I got online and read so many other people's reviews/ comments about having the same reaction due to the bismuth oxychloride. Never again. It took about a year to get my face back to being clear and even after that I had scarring for the longest time.

She has never been able to wear any liquid foundation. My goodness her skin is flawless when she uses bare minerals. Her skin really is taken to a different level. I tried it again, using their brush and certainly it gave a lot more coverage in a lot less time than using my other brushes. Possibly try their brush??? Also the mineral veil finishing powder certainly helps give a flawless look and a glow.

      @mishmash3968 5 лет назад +5

      Jacqueline Flaugher she’s doing it as they recommend though, using very little. They ought to not say that if it doesn’t work that way. Also, their real hair brushes do work better for this, but they are stiff and scratchy as heck. It creates friction which in turn melts it into the skin. Meanwhile many people than have a reaction because you micro exfoliate in the process. They’ve since come out with synthetic soft brushes you can get instead- exactly like she’s using.

    • @nikovanegas2735
      @nikovanegas2735 5 лет назад +4

      I tried their brushes with this foundation. The hairs are coarse and TBH I didn't like it because of the friction and the vigorous buffing, it would emphasize my pores, the finish is beautiful on my "poreless area" and the best way for me to apply it was with a medium super fluffy power brush because it wasn't that rough on my skin and it wouldn't "buff away" product off my pores.
      As a bronzer it works fantastic.

      @@mishmash3968 i had no experience with their original kabuki brush. I used their new-er synthetic charcoal buffing brush and its great! It doesnt feel scratchy or rough on my skin imo.
      I do agree though that you would have to use more than suggested to get good coverage, and the product is a bit high maintenance since you need to buff it for a long time. However, the final finish is sooo worth it.

    • @mishmash3968
      @mishmash3968 5 лет назад +1

      Nur AA yeah, those small, travel size kabuki brushes are really nice! I have the same one you have, minus the charcoal. I picked up two since they work so well with any powder product (even as a liquid foundation brush) and are easy for travel or purse. • @jacquelineflaugher4240
      @jacquelineflaugher4240 5 лет назад

      Mish mash if you go into a bare minerals store, they use “very little” but by very little they ever so slightly cover the whole kid with product swirl around like twice tap tap and buff. you blend a lot but your aren’t supposed to apply a lot of pressure. i’m not an expert but this was my foundation of choice for about 7 years and I did a session at the bare minerals store just to figure out how to perfect it. also I didn’t say to use THEIR brushes, just a real hair brush. the formula of the product may have changed over the years but i’m just giving input on a product I used from about early 2000s til about 4-5 years ago.

    I've been waiting for this video!! Since the leopard robe Vlog days I have tried so many of the foundations Taylor talks about and they never work out the best for me and I always go back to Bare Minerals. I prefer to have the option to build up in my problem areas and the keep my makeup lighter where I don't need the coverage. With being so fair but also covered in freckles, I've not found a concealer that I can do that with was out it being visible that I'm spot concealing.
    Some of the reasons why I love bare minerals are that I can use a dense brush and pack it on around my nose and on acne and then use of bigger brush everywhere else. I like that during the day if it starts to crease I can just pat it out with my finger (I don't set). Its not matte and gives a nice natural glow from within vibe. I can lightly blend it around my ears/neck to kind of diffuse it down so that there is not a harsh difference anywhere. With liquid foundation I always have a visible difference unless I cover myself from cleavage to forehead! Bare Minerals is a smidge too dark for me but nothing warming up with bronzer can't fix.
    I spot conceal with liquid, cover with the BM concealer brush. Then I use a dense buffing brush and press/pack into my skin in the center of my face and once that's down I buff all over with less product and a looser brush. I use MUCH more than what they say to and I really pack it on at first, and buff with a looser brush. I have dry skin around my nose crease and under my eyes but the rest of my face is a low oiliness. I'm breakout prone and BM gives me no issues. That's my novel about BM. ❤Ya Taylor keep up the steller work. After all these years, I still admire your work ethic and overall dopeness! existence

    I worked for BM for a long time. You can definitely use more product than they tell you to, especially if you want more coverage. I used to put two-three times the amount recommended in the cap, swirl a dense brush in it and pat it on areas where more coverage is desired. Using small dabbing motions presses the product on instead of swirling it away. After patting the specific full coverage areas, I would take more product and buff around the perimeter of the face to get a smooth finish. This is really the only way I could ever get the powder to be fuller coverage by itself. I also would recommend SmashBox primerizer/moisturizer and The Tatcha silk canvas smoothing primer for over your lines/wrinkles to prevent settling. Also, if you use a dense natural hair brush to apply, you will get a lot more coverage quicker. If you choose synthetic, you will have to be a little more patient.
    Hope this helps. If it is still too much work for you, I totally understand lol.

BUT, you have to use much more to start than they say. Honestly, I filled half the lid with a thin layer of powder PER area I was covering. If u try it again, I’d recommend just goin in. It’s hard to look cakey if ur careful and the catrice would look great over it. Let us know if you find s way to work it! When my acne was really bad it was the only thing that I could get to cover for me, and I had cystic acne also.

      I think perhaps since shalom has deeper skin tone, the product might have more pigment in it to give better coverage. Whereas since taylor has much lighter skin tone, the coverage isnt showing as much? Probably has something to do with their formula since they only use five ingredients. But well.....this is just a theory though :)

    I been trying this foundation for a few weeks now. I didn’t like it at first but I’m starting to love it now that I am figuring out the best primers with it. I make sure i moisturize at night and use my smashbox primerizer and then my elf Pudy primer on my larger pores. Then concealer. Set concealer with powder. Set face with milani prime set glow powder then go in with the BM powder foundation

    I have very dry skin and absolutely love this foundation powder and have been using it for years. I always double prime with something to smooth my pores and another to hydrate (primer sprays work well with this). I also use way more product than you did when I apply it, I basically shake it with the lid on to fill the cap and use my elf ultimate blending brush to load it on and buff into my skin. Some people say not to use setting spray but I find that I get the best finish when I set with Mac fix plus. For my day to day I get medium coverage and it takes me less than 20 minutes to do my makeup!
    Hope this helps!

    I have combo skin, so I like to mix the original with the matte. I also set it with a setting spray. I’ve found a smaller dense brush works best for me. I dot it around my face and buff it thoroughly. It doesn’t take any longer than regular foundation.

    The brush that they recommend actually works sooo magically with it and works it into my skin and hides my pores so well- please try it! My main problem with this foundation is that the colour is a bit off for me and I can't change that :( otherwise I'm an oily gal and I love this foundation for more natural days (I find it quick to apply with their big brush) where it's like a medium length day (a work day) if you know what I mean :) nice and glowy and doesn't cling to anybody patches or anything weirdly. I've even put translucent powder on top to extend wear 👍

    I have oily skin and I LOVE the matte one. To get the coverage I need, I use a kabuki brush and way more product than they suggest. I tap out about 8 times. I then dip my brush into the product, tap the brush on my face then buff it it. I feel like when you buff it into the brush in the cap, it stays in the Brush hairs and doesn’t come out onto your face.

    I use the Bare Minerals mineral veil to set my liquid foundation and it leaves such a nice, blurred effect! It helps my makeup last all day and prevent break up or getting oily

    I've been using bare minerals for a while now and I gotta say covergirl purple primer works very good with it (probably one of your favorite Revlon primer works too), and I actually use a bigger fluffier brush myself and go around the face 2-3 times and usually get med-high coverage. I have a good amount of texture from cystic acne scarring on my chin and that primer makes it look flawless. Please try!!

    Bareminerals Full Flawless Face brush used to always help the original foundation give me more coverage when I wanted a more med-full coverage. I think the right brush is everything with this product as far as achieving different levels of coverage goes. I've seen it do completely different things to my skin depending on the tool I used to apply it.

    I tried bare minerals year ago and it made my skin so itchy because the bismuth oxychloride. I use Alina Pure’s satin matte mineral foundation and I absolutely love it. It doesn’t have the bismuth and It looks airbrushes on my skin and I continue to go back to it when I’m experimenting with other Foundation’s. My skin is very dry and I also live in the Midwest. It never looks powdery or cakey on me. Just thought ide share. Love your videos Taylor!

    Oh and using the mineral veil at the end is EVERYTHING! It smooths out the whole look and takes it to another level.

    I use this after liquid foundation over major acne spots and IT WORKS. I’ve never used it on its own, but doing it that way, I swear by
