I believe that "average" are those who will achieve BIG in life if she or he wanted to or not. I am average, but I want to become a rich person who helps people. Average can dream BIG :)
Wow, I've been teaching at TAFE (technical college) in Australia for 25 years and at the Uni of NSW for 8 years now and I reckon that is one of the best speeches I've ever seen. That young man is right on the money with everything he says. Often (but not always), high achievers fail to translate their academic results into real world success whilst the average and below average students succeed. That was very entertaining and true to life - good work :)

There is no shame at it, yeah! But I believe average is a choice, at least most of the times, and I choose not to be an average person. They say that only 1% makes it to the top, only 1% succeeds. Well that's maybe because only 1% went all the way until the end.
Siggerou1993 what is being above average measured by? What is success? It depends on how you see it and how you want to lead it because it's your life, not entirely the society's way of seeing things.

yeah in schools colleges they only teach for you are an average guy . and you only need to do what they are saying ,and not to do out of the box always.

But average people don't make the world, the technology improve, people who are willing to go beyond average, they are. But, we all got our lives, our ideas, ideals, average is a choice, the one that you'll embrace or regret. You liked the speech, so did I and so did the OP here. But we percieved diffrently.
It is a good counseling speech for people who feels bad about their grade, but there is no reason at all to inspire people to be average. No need to be emotional with this. There are much more things to face after graduation.
