Hospital is an actual section in remake, rather then 2 minute in and out like OG. RPD is also much longer in remake with more playable Carlos. Sewer Gammas were a nice addition, the shop and extra difficulties added replayability alone. People dont give it enough credit !

The intro to RE3make was REALLY poorly timed because the game came out right around when Covid started. The remake in general was a letdown because of how much was cut but the character writing was really good as well as the arranged music hearing the arrangement of 'City of Ruin' when playing remake was great since it was one of my favorite tracks from the original. The most enjoyable time I had with the remake was the bonus weapons so rush through the game with op weapons which is always a fun time but the game is so short that you get bored rather fast.

    • @daveweaver3886
      @daveweaver3886 2 года назад

I actually believe they purposely rushed the game out to coincide with the plandemic and the modernized intro to attempt to scare people more. I also agree that the only replayability is buying all the weapons/items and unlocking and beating all the difficulties. Very easy game to platinum rather quickly.

24:55 On fighting Nemesis in the disposal room...you might not have noticed this in the control scheme, but there are two buttons for aiming. R1 targets enemies, R2 targets destructible objects like the explosive barrels, or in this case the acid valves. If you used R2 you would lock onto the valves first instead of Nemesis. Makes it much easier to hit them at the right time.
Also, you don't need to use the valves to kill Nemesis. Think of the acid valves as a helping hand for players who wasted too much ammo before this boss fight.

    • @MomockDamock

I would say, when playing the remake, the biggest mistake the team made was leaving out the nemesis choices. When I first played RE3 for the first time when it came out, I was taken away about the timed choice and what would be the better outcome for me as the player. Even the RNG in RE3 made it worth the reply value.

The replayability really is one of the best parts about this game. The fact that it changes puzzle solutions, enemies in areas change when die like the zombies change to hunters in the park (if I remember correctly), even some item placements and item amounts change like a green herb becoming 3 green herbs or turning into a blue herb in different playthroughs.

    • @propheinx2250
      @propheinx2250 2 года назад +6

Some puzzles have the solutions changed, but a couple are completely unchanging. The puzzle in the park where you have to lower the water in the fountain has the same solution every time, and the book/compass to get the battery is also always the same. I suspect it's because those puzzles were built into the stage design and couldn't easily be rearranged.

    • @TKUltra971

That's the one of the several things i missed from the remake. RE3 didn't have dual characters or scenarios a-b, but what it did offer was RNG and player actions with the QTE/live select events. If they wanted to have a hd 3d game where you ran around, had terrible characters and a boring experience they could have made re3 remake 15 plus years ago if that were the case.

Resident Evil Nemesis is the definition of the most underrated RE game. I feel that this game is often glossed over upon because of the much more favored sequel RE2, but that isn’t saying RE Nemesis was inherently bad. I liked how this game felt like a “finale” if you will to the Raccoon City arc, by having the original take place in just a mansion, the sequel in a police station and the finale being the entire city/even the police station also. Its quite a letdown this game never had too much attention due to being Playstation 1 exclusive and the remake being a major disappointment on all platforms, but this game made me fall in love with Jill Valentine as my favourite RE Heroine… and Nemesis being my favourite RE killer. That being said there is some things you miss when comparing both games
I whole Nemesis form (and the best one) type 2 is not in the Remake
Random weapon spawns like the G launcher/colt in the stars room and random item placement through out the game every playthrough
Also in the beginning when the zombies bust out the door in that narrow hallway sometimes they do right way before you touch the door sometimes you have to touch the door and there is more examples of this though out the game
I think the random weapon/item placement
Random enemy behavior is just as big of a part of RE3 as the clock tower and worm boss (gravedigger) that was missing in the Remake that no one talks about

That's the thing that make the remakes terrible in comparison to the originals. They've both reveal a laziness that Capcom has now, when you consider the best things about RE2 and 3 have been cut out and replaced by mediocre stuff. That's what's frustrating about the remakes. If they just wanted to make an OK game, they could have just made a fresh new game on it's own. But to have the blueprint of the originals that have already been proven to work, and then decide to say screw that, lets just put some bullshit in instead, because people are easily impressed by any old thing these days. That's basically the attitude they have that clearly shows in both games. There literally is no legit reason to give us less of a game than the originals did.
They try to say they didn't have enough time. I don't buy it. In fact, it just looks like they squandered the time they had. It's a remake. Just copy and paste and ADD more. The plot was already there. The gameplay was already there. The structure was already there. I see modders on RUclips attempt to make a more competent remake with the Unreal engine, that have more respect for the originals. And you mean to tell me Capcom just couldn't do it? They just can't hang like they used too? Because the RE1 remake was excellent, because it did what I suggested. Copied and pasted AND they ADDED (NOT TAKE AWAY, NOT REDUCED) but ADDED more gameplay.
That's why RE2 remake feels empty compared to the original and lacks the replay value as well. And RE3 remake just seems like a cheap dlc to re2 remake instead of a whole game in itself.

I completely concur. These remakes are pretty to look at but are completely soulless compared to the originals. They just can't do RE right anymore without Shinji Mikami at the helm.

I'd say Nikolai was better characterised in the original because he had a very specific consistent motive but in the remake he was much more generically evil. The body language and acting are obviously improved (which was always going to be a given thanks to 20 further years of tech) but his place in the story was inconsistent. In the original he had one hidden goal - to eliminate all the other supervisors and steal their data so he could demand his own price for selling said combat data back to Umbrella, everything he did was in service to this goal. In the remake however they dropped this idea so he could be cartoonishly evil. He did some of the same things but with much foggier ideals behind him - He claims he was secretly ordered by a third party (probably Wesker) to do whatever he could to damage Umbrella but nothing he does would actually help this goal and he claims to be only interested in making as much money as he can yet he destroys the antidote which is easily the most fungible item he could ever hope to get his hands on.
The RE2 remake did a similar thing with Annette, they turned her into a very inconsistent character. In the original she had very clear motives, she wanted to protect her husband's work from Umbrella snatching it away but as soon as she realised that Sherry was in real danger she dropped everything to protect her. She loved her family even when one became a literal monster but she got so wrapped up in her work that she neglected her daughter. In the remake she's just kinda bumming around in the sewers tracking... stuff and when she is faced with the fact that her daughter is infected with G and about to lose herself as a monster she's very reluctant to actually help her until being bullied into it. Then at the end she clarifies her motives as "I couldn't let my daughter grow up in a world with the G virus" as if she cared all along and hadn't just tried leaving her to die. Not to mention that the G virus was something _she_ enthusiastically helped to create. Like Nikolai she is far better acted and animated but much more poorly written.
Even Leon became a complete naive dumbass, refusing to let a guy out of the cells when he is the only cop left in a zombie apocalypse because he needs the permission of the chief who he has *no* reason to believe is even alive. In the original Ben locked _himself_ away as securely as he could to stay alive.
They completely misunderstood the nature of the nemesis too. In RE1 the tyrant was the monstrosity origin, in RE2 G-Birkin was the ever evolving/adapting threat, in RE3 the nemesis was the unrelenting juggernaut. In the remake however they just quickly turned it into another evolving G-monster instead. Gone was the unrelenting terminator and we got a growing flesh monster dog. In the original it finally took enough of a beating to hamper it for a while but it came back with its limiter broken down giving it a slightly more monstrous appearance and even more strength until finally it takes massive cellular damage but clings to life by consuming more tyrants and breaks down into a barely held together wretch of flesh. The R3make tyrant just keeps adapting and growing as if it were a G monster.
He doesn't even manage to kill Brad 'chickenheart' Vickers this time, that honour goes to... random zombie No.3
Jill became a dumbass too. With Nemesis being thrown in right away that meant that the zombie apocalypse had to begin in the few hours of sleep she managed to get in. In the original it is implied that she had been fighting in the city trying to protect people for days or even weeks as things got worse and worse until she decided that it was a lost cause and she had to get out herself (her last escape). In _this_ version she apparently failed to see _any_ of the signs until Nemesis literally knocked on her door/wall and everything just happened all at once while she slept (that cocoon that wrapped around the power plant just went up in the last two hours I guess).
The "I'll give you stars" line was actually worse than you mentioned because not only did it become a throwaway line earlier but there is a very high chance that Nemmy will interrupt Jill by punching her in the kidneys as she says it. On top of this they screwed up the new line she gets in the final fight, she says "Next time... take the F-ing hint" when what she should be saying is _"This_ time... take the F-ing hint". Point being that there won't _be_ a next time because she is ending it _now._

  • @Dacho_Shaki

RE3make was alright for what it was, although mechanically it's a pretty weak action shooter with some merits. I was kind of partial to the original RE3 at first after playing a stellar RE2 thinking of it as nothing but an action focused side game, but going back to it, it holds up remarkably well with tons of mechanical improvements, tighter level design and overall solid experience minus the broken dodge mechanic. I can see why so many people consider it as a classic.
Code Veronica, on the other hand, felt like a downgrade with better graphics. Less tight level design, annoying enemies, frustrating bosses and there's a point of the game where it can fuck over the entire progress of the game. People considered it as the true RE3 for years, although I can understand why because of its larger scope and cinematic spectacle, but the story is just downright goofy compared to the more down to earth previous entries. RE3 has its flaws, but their merits overshadow them completely, while CV felt more like a mechanical downgrade for me and felt like a small progressional step as a subsequent entry.
Nemesis is still a damn good game in my opinion while CV was pretty mid, run of the mill.
    Also, fuck Steve.

I was never a huge fan of RE3 (even tho it was technically my first) so I don't really hold it too highly but the remake was still rather disappointing. It's great fun to play, and it's exactly because of that that it's such a missed opportunity. Why the hell was Mercenaries not included? Why did they cut locations like the Clocktower and Raccoon Park? Why did they copypaste 2make's lab instead of keep the factory? Why did they make Nemesis so "cinematic" rather than an actual threat?
Don't get me wrong, it did improve on some things. For example, the hospital is super good in the remake and the dodge is finally not cancer. But they excluded so many cool things that made 3 unique compared to 1 and 2. There's no Live Selection, no different epilogues, barely any costumes (I can't even remember if there's non DLC ones), there's less enemies and changes to them (hunters are the regular green ones)...

The thing that causes vitriol regarding the remake is that the potential it had to build upon the original was completely missed, and so the game is judged by what it could have been versus what it is. When re2 remake came out, it set the bar for what we could and should have expected when 3make got announced, not without flaws but a fantastic game nonetheless, but what we got was okay at best, and when "okay at best" is below the bar that was set with the previous game, we consider it a bad game. I agree that the remake definitely improved on characterization but fell flat in nearly every other aspect and it's a total slap in the face to people like myself who consider nemesis their favorite, feeling like we got the short end of the stick. It's just sad when even something as derivative as a 1:1 remake with a graphics/dialogue overhaul would have been a been a better game.

I feel weird about Remake 3, cause, at the end of the day if I want to play RE2R i end up playing RE3R instead, not because its better, but because i feel like the shooting is more fun. RE2R went for that gore system, which is impressive, but it also kinda means that killing enemies is kinda...weird. RE3R went back to just, shoot them in the head and they go away like something in RE4.
Also RE2R has sections that i absolutely despise, the Sewers, i just don't like that place, ever since i learned to skip it i skipped it every single time, its just a drag, idk why like, the Sewers gives me the same vibe as RE0, which is just ''annoyed groans''.
But yes, as a Remake, RE3R fails, and, it was apparently supposed to be a DLC to RE2R even, which would make sense, it needed more time in the oven for sure, but also...idk, maybe they add a really fucking annoying section like RE2R, or not who knows. I do enjoy how RE3R doesn't punish you for using some special things on the two remix difficulty, the armor coins, ammo maker and etc, some people try playing those without and suffer but they're playing it wrong, its like like Dante Must Die, you're supposed to use your acquired stuff, its quite fun.
I wish Capcom would release the classics tho', sure you can play it on PC with fan patches and they're quite amazing, but still, its gaming history, wish companies would care more about the old stuff.

But yeah, i mean, granted, 2make's more Survival Horror, so it makes sense that it doesn't encourage you to kill them, but also, shootin' them in the knee and having like, 20 zombies crawling around that'll never ever ever catch you is kinda like killing them anyway, its just...not as ''tasty'' as shooting them in the head 'till they go pop.
Nemesis in 3make felt like a switch, Mr.X in 2make acted more like nemesis and nemesis acted more like Mr.X in RE2C. I mean, he's a fun boss to fight in his bosses form, but as a chaser enemy he's a big meh, the grenade trick feels like it shouldn't be there, and i think it STILL works on the harder difficulties? i don't remember honestly.
Idk, wish both 2make and 3make had more time in the Oven, overall 2make fairs better but they really fumbled hard on the zapping system. Like, i hated that you fight repeated bosses and see blondie die twice which makes zero sense but it's there cause you HAVE to fight that boss again.
I rather the B scenarios be shorter than have those repeated content, it feels really cheap.

The events happened on the same night and actually start with RE3, then when Jill was passed out, Rebecca and Leon touchdown, and by time Jill awakens in the hospital, Rebecca and Leon evacuate as Jill destroys the city. If you choose not to keep the RE3 remake and only keep RE2, then technically you only have half the game. The developers made it very clear why those areas were cut.

12:15 from what I know, it was in development at the same time as re2 remake; But had a different director and team working on it.
Namely a team made of former platinum devs... which shows.
The game foregoing the more open structure of Re2 remake and original re3 into a streamlined action focused one with more setpieces and combat encounters... almost like a bayo or DMC game, but without the combat encounters being outright that.
The development was also apparently super troubled, and the director did not handle things well (dont recall if its true atm, but I remember hearing the game even changed directors halfway through, and some planned stuff was changed after re2 remake came out); One thing I know for certain is that the entire plan for the game was changes at the least once, resulting in a game with equal, if not more dev time than re2 feeling like it had less.
The following is also rumor stuff, but I also seen talked around that they just downright decided to use re3 remake as an experimental ground to test possible mechanics and ideas for the upcoming re4 remake; With some sequences like the hospital siege giving credence to this theory.
Add to it the tacked on multiplayer mode, which capcom used as an excuse for the inflated price and lack of original extra modes and, well... you get re3 remake.
A decent action game, but a horrible remake and a bad RE game.

I think the development of 3Make was somewhat simultaneous with 2Make, though with different teams I think. When the 3Make team saw what 2Make was doing with Mr. X, they thought that it was super sick but also realized that they had to up the ante with Nemesis since he was the inspiration for 2Make's Mr. X. 3Make's team decided to emphasize Nemesis being "scarier Mr. X", but focused on what he could physically do instead (running, jumping, generally being more mobile, etc). The problem is that they essentially turned him into a big action set piece instead of the stalker type enemy he was originally.

The original RE Nemesis is my favorite with Village being my favorite of the more action focused ones. I didn't hate the remake, but it really felt lacking. I was so excited with what they did to Mr X in the 2 remake I couldn't wait to see Nemesis in a remake with a better AI, then it just felt so scripted. Before I beat the game I could already tell when he would show up. "Oh narrow alley way no monsters in sight, bet he's going to Kool Aid man through the wall and chase me! Oh no another empty hallway he's gonna get me!"

the biggest problem with Re3 OG is getting basically stunlocked against Nemesis like in a corner or just trying to not fight basically you have to confront nemesis for the and I quote the true ending the Barry ending which sucks because A the dodge button isn't good B limted ammo and C if you don't you have to do another playthrough which I don't hate but having to beat a game twice because you didn't know your choices matter sucks but I'll give to the games credit the story is good If I remember correctly Nemesis busts into a save room which is cool but just like 2remake constantly being followed can be annoying

3make suffered the same development fate of RE3, both want to capitalize on the success of their predecessor and they end up experiencing difficulties making it ending up rushing the release of the game. RE3make already heavily used the same zombie models in RE2make, but they removed the ragdoll physics on it, which make even the lazy copycat move halfassed.

For the Resident Evil 3 remake, I have to say the graphics, gameplay, and writing(correction, some of it) is phenomenal. But the content aa well as the multiple options and more endings got cut way too much compared to the original's environment, giving Raccoon City more to explore.

  • @unusernamei4222

Yes re3 had cut content but it was fun game to play and is a good game for new players, and capcom probably got greedy for money and released it early but, they made sure it wasn't buggy and it's worth replaying

Thank you for the video. I was searching for an opinion of the community as I am very disappointed after completing the remake and all its "challenges". As a guy who has beaten the game 8 times back in 1999 and even progressed through big portion of the game using knife only(which was hard as hell and was not a requirement for an achievement or something, just my nerdy head freaking out) I was expecting more.
Just want to add, you forgot about special missions that were in original, called - "The Mercenaries: Operation Mad Jackal", where you play as MIchail, Carlos and Nicholai, which were very exciting and allowing you to collect money for upgrades, which is no more in remake.
All-in-all, Capcom made worst remake of best game in the series for me.

This ought to be a great video
I don't dispute any of the flaws and criticisms of the Resident Evil 3 remake, but I still love playing it. Honestly I think the biggest blunder it makes is really just mishandling nemesis, I could deal with content being cut if they had better utilized him as a villain
You really just get that one short segment where he chases you around the streets for a little bit, that one cool flamethrower boss fight, and then everything else is totally scripted and on rails until you get to the point where he mutates into that dog and you just have two of the exact same bullet sponge boss fights against him
I feel like he just ends up mutating way too early and every other encounter with him after that is kind of a letdown
The final boss is okay for the spectacle but it's definitely not all that fun either overall
But I love every step that you take to get from start to finish of this game, it's focused, gameplay is fluid, the pacing is excellent, and there is so much put into the detail and presentation
I find this is one of the easiest re games to just jump in and do a playthrough of. The more I unlock in that store the more I want to give it another run. I think their best bet was to make this a 30 to $40 expansion on the Resident Evil 2 remake as far as how they marketed it, but I've still gotten my money's worth even buying it full price
But the original is a bona fide early survival horror classic
Ramping the action up worked for that game because you were still constantly under tension because they had never implemented something like Nemesis before. You were always on edge about when he was going to show up next
Ironically it's the remake of Resident Evil 2 that takes this concept and uses it better instead of the actual remake of three

The comparison I have for RE3 remake is like going to an expensive restaurant and getting your mail and the portion is so small and you are like, “that’s it?” Although what they give you tastes really good, but at the end you are still hungry and feel like you over paid

    • @AndrewSF8898

I would say that if the OG trilogy were fine meals, OG RE3 would be like some good chicken with beer, and the remake is like if the same restaurant sold chicken-flavoured chips at the same price: a chunk of the volume of the bag is just air, and at the end of it, you actually just ate one potato cut into tiny slices.

Re3 original didn't look rushed. In fact it was better than re2. It was a horror game where you could dodge and get different endings. Not to mention it also had a lot of areas to explore. All and all re3 original never felt rushed. On the other hand re3 remake had so many areas cut out and Jill's attitude became so different than re3 original. All and all re3 original never felt rushed to me because I liked it more than re2. Specifically the dodge feature.

    • @robustus2861
      @robustus2861 Год назад

@@Aalijah_Matyevna Don't get me wrong, the original RE 3 was a good game, and so was the RE 3 remake. I just can't help but feel like in both cases features that RE2 had were missing. For example, in the original RE 3 we are down to one character scenario (albeit with branching paths). It just felt like they made a smaller game and attempted to polish what they had with things like the dodge mechanic etc. In the RE 3 remake the zombie dismemberment mechanic from RE 2 was very conspicuously absent. As soon as I noticed that I felt the RE 3 remake had taken a serious step back what we got in the RE 2 remake. Again, both awesome games, just not as good as their predecessors.

Having said that I have entire collection of the main games including revelations 1 and 2. There’s is no way in hell the the original resident evil 3 is better then the remake. The remake is superior in every way. Y’all said how the game is rushed. Say the same things about re 2 if you’re going to say that. Their both short in only take 6 hour to beat and that doing everything. You can speed run in less time. Having said that both re 2 and 3 are short games. All you’re doing is trying to escape raccoon city. There isn’t much to tell. Most people suck at the game that is why y’all keep disrespecting the re 3 remake masterpiece.

To me, the worst part is people saying that "Capcom is taking RE3 criticism to heart so they're making sure to make a good RE4 REmake", and I'm pretty sure that's not the reason they are going to make RE4 a good remake. RE2 and RE4 are the "Hit me for money button"" for Capcom. RE3R looked like it would have so much more but was cut short. A lot of places are actually fully made, with collisions and all that, but barriers were suddenly put in your way, why they would model places you can't reach? It just looks like Capcom wanted to make RE4R ASAP so they just closed a project that wasn't done. And that's sad, since RE3 is my favorite.
Also, I really think Capcom must stop making RE games that takes 8 hours or so to finish, that worked on RE2R because, well, you can play with two characters there, but even the new RE8 is only 8 hours or so if you try to do everything. If the game has a single campaign, they must make it at least 10 - 12 hours long. RE8 had a LOT of cut content, it's clear that the only finished areas were the castle AND the factory.
Anyway, I love RE3 but the Remake is more like downgrade and I doubt Capcom would ever fix that.

So I played RE2make the second playthrough of Claire and I clocked in 5 HOURS! That’s funny that’s the same runtime apparently RE3make has been receiving! In fact to me I find RE3make has bigger areas than RE2. The Police
Station may look big but in comparison its no different than the hospital in RE3make.Also the boss fights are better and there’s more enemy variety and more locations! So the games too short argument needs to stop! RE3make is a 10/10 game like RE2make!😎😎😎

    @ATPokemon 2 года назад +2

RE3make did have things that were better, I do like some characters more, but I have always preferred Classic Jill, Classic Nicolai, and Classic Mikhail is tied with remake Mikhail.
There are a few story details that changed, as well as alternate paths that can happen.
If you want to experience the multitude of alternates try heading to Newspaper Office or Restaurant first after RPF, the office building or gas station first for Tram Car Supplies, and the Hospital basement or upper floors first. As well as heading back to Mikhail before completing all tasks during the Tram Car segment since... Edit: Also, head back to the warehouse during the Tram Car segment for Dario stuff.
... the small events can change depending on where you go first in these three situations. If you went to the restaurant first, you meet Carlos and have an encounter with Nemesis. If you go to the newspaper office first, you meet an unconscious Carlos there who wakes up, and then you have an encounter with Nemesis. For the tram car, you get different encounters depending on where you go first (Carlos at Gas Station & Nicolai killing Murphy OR Nicolai at Gas Station & Carlos forced to kill Murphy). And in the Hospital. If you go to the basement first, you see Tyrell die to a bomb in a safe that Nicolai left but if you go upstairs first you encounter Nicolai shooting Tyrell. This also adds replayability values in addition to the onscreen choices. (My favorite is Tram Car choice which changes how the Clock Tower Nemesis boss fight is performed, thank you, Carlos)
Heading back to the Tram Car before completing all the tasks results in an encounter with Mikhail. This is in the remake too but it is different. In the remake, Mikhail will make a comment on Carlos and that's about it. In the original, you get an in-render cutscene of Mikail fighting off zombies, but even this changes depending on what you do. If you used the barrel before the cutscene, Mikhail will use a grenade. If the barrel is still there, he'll limp over and use it instead.
One last incredibly interesting detail that I didn't notice until much MUCH later is the bodies in the Dead Factory, specifically around the rail gun. If you notice, the body that Nemesis eats to get stronger is a Super Tyrant from RE2, and the floor is littered with additional RE2 tyrants and other bodies. As I said, I don't remember if it was fleshed out in this game or Umbrella Chronicles, but there is a story there.:
The reason the outbreak ultimately started was that Birkin wanted out of Umbrella, so he made a deal with the US government to supply them with data on the T-Virus and G-Virus in exchange for safety for him and his family. Umbrella found out about this and sent HUNK's team to acquire the samples (specifically the G-Virus) before the deal can go down. Birkin was shot, HUNK's team retrieved the samples, Birkin injected himself with G in an attempt to save his life, mutated and hunted HUNK's team down, smashing all the T-Virus samples which were injected by the rats and spread all over the city. Since HUNK's team lost contact and was presumed dead, one of Umbrella's higher-ups sent in the Mr. X tyrants to collect the G-Virus. You can see a helicopter dropping Tyrant into the Police Station. The helicopter had 5 more Tyrant capsules. These additional Tyrants were then sent to intercept the US Government Delta Team that was sent to also acquire the G-Virus, where Delta team brought along the Rail Gun to combat any Umbrella opposition. The 5 Typratns and Delta Tema killed each other in the Dead Facotry. Nemesis got stronger on a Super Tyrant body and Jill used the Rail Gun to combat the Umbrella threat. And a neat little bow on top of it all, the RE1 manual detailed how Jill had received her training FROM Delta Force.
There are a few other things, such as in the original game Nicolai can actually escape Raccoon City leaving him alive for a reappearance, and Jill can find an unconscious Marvin in the RPD and make a comment on him. For me, so much was removed from the remake that it just pales in comparison. On its own RE3make is a meh game, but a bad remake. Like how RE2make is a fantastic game, but a (for me) decent remake. (RE1make or REmake is a fantastic game and a fantastic remake).

R1 was to aim at enemies. R2 was for aiming at shootable objects in the game: barrels, wall explosives, and the acid thing. The game might have not made it clear enough, similar to the dodge mechanic. You see alot of people miss the explosives on first play through.
