- Hi everyone this is my first full diorama build and I chose a scene that I have enjoyed depicting in paint before. Such a version was used as the front cover to one of my painting books.
This is the first of many such builds over the coming months and years if they are well received. I do hope that you enjoy this video and like comment upon it. And what it does reinforce in my mind is that to create a realistic scene demands very well defined powers of observation, as well as the practical skills to produce something in three dimensions. Thanks for compiling a very informative video which has been saved to my "Instructive/Educational File" because like you this is something I wish to tackle, using rein to make a water scene. Wow, excellent work Paul, you certainly have a talent for it.
The coast of Oregon (USA) is overrun with the 'gorse'. The local rumor is a long time ago a wooden merchant ship with a bunch of 'decorative' pots (it was quite popular) wrecked and the shipwrecked gorse washed ashore and took hold. But it was well documented it was the favorite plant of the founder of Bandon Oregon... That plant was responsible for a very burnt down Bandon once that was fueled by gorse... There has been great efforts to contain the plant... but the coast I remember exploring as a child north of Bandon Oregon was overrun with it.

Hi Mike, I'm new to model railway modelling and enjoyed watching this vid. The use of 'T' bags is a new one for me, I've been using herbs and spices, great idea and will be trying that one out on my next diorama. Cheers from Rick at Digon Alley Station. O.k. yes I'm a Harry Potter fan !!

I want to build something like this but with a wood trestle to display my 4449 I have several kits to choose from to build it with. I just hope it looks as good as yours when I am done.

Hi Paul. What do feel is the advantage of using dried natural twigs for the tree armatures instead of florists wire of various gauges like Luke has shown covered with material such as latex? Do you think it is a more natural look or is it just time and cost?
Hi Mike . If honest I use several methods. It is just that I uses natural amateurs on this project, They are not as robust as wire, but can look great if you get the right bits, cheers Paul
Looking good, but personally, I'd have put in the pretty, smooth stones you found in your driveway after the paint, and let the colors show through the water... ;-) But that's just me...
