Another great way to get the water ripple effect is to use a nozzle heat or hair dryer. Great artwork, I grew up with my grandfathers home made huge train set with my siblings. Brought back fond memories, thank you.
That was amazing. I knew when I saw your background setup it was going to be good. But that water. A thing of beauty. That clear coat was the business. The boat once done, it as all perfect. And don’t use that word lightly. And you’re a great teacher. TFS
this is so impressive. I was never able to get into this type of model making/art but as a kid I was extremely interested in them. I would visit the local shops and I remember being amazed by the level of detail and creativity . I would read the same magazine over and over studying every page since I didn't grow up with a lot of extra spending money. I did detour into other forms of art though but I will still always respect the work people do like this
Yeah same, when I was a Kid I went to this place called dollhouses trains and more.... So nostalgic thinking of that place now. But it had a really realistic layout.
I know NOTHING about this kind of art creation, but I found the video fascinating. I am in awe of the skill and craftsmanship to do something like this. Well done and congratulations on a wonderful creation. Thanks for posting this.
It looks amazing! You’re really talented! My dad has wanted a model railway for 30+ years. He’s got lots of trains and track and finally got a room he’s going to put it. So I’m looking for great ideas for him. I’ll definitely send him this! Im going to check out the rest of your videos now 🙂.
I am currently doing my first layout. I shall try to emulate. . . baring in mind, A master always makes itl look easy. Really appreciate your videos. Tack.
Now I’m thinking that a waterfall painting of mine from several years ago needs tweaking, or repeating with some of these techniques! Brilliant ideas! Thank you.
I appreciate your knowledge, advice and expertise. Your study of the area you want to copy shows your level of professionalism and enthusiasm. I also want to thank you for the time taken to communicate in my language so I can understand and benefit from your investment. Thank you
Well, his Country is versed in English language, i don't think it much effort, besides he has probability to have more views, than if he make it in his native language.
Thank you for sharing your skills and good humor. You are a favorite of my club friends. We are building a large new layout in our retirement community and have included a couple of locations for some waterfalls in our plans.
What a fantastic video on simple but effective the tolet paper is great ,I have used dryer sheets for some of my work. Looking forward to seeing more in the new future also great on the stonework
I really enjoy doing this kind of stuff. I have created a few in my past but I'm living here in Colombia and don't have access to the supplied that I normally used. Your method opens up new possibility that I may be able to continue creating these. Thanks.
Wonderful technique toilets paper and your magical hands works that waterfalls are so good to see it everyday like I have the dam of river creek waterfall near my apt window looking out everyday. Thank you for shown how to do that I cannot live without your work.
Used his TP and glue plus varnish technique for water in the bottom of an anti tank ditch in my first ever diorama, worked exactly as he said it would, even to the point about losing detail as the varnish layers build up
You are an absolute legend. I've seen a lot of your videos and boy was I inspired. It's guys like you that encourage newcomers to the hobby. Greetings from Ireland ☘️
I am so impressed with your creativity and the work you put into all your videos.. By the look of your train set up it looks real... I am going to pass this video on to a friend who loves trains... Thank you.... You are amazing....
What a great tutorial! I love the way you make use of simple everyday materials to achieve beautiful scenes. I find that I get rather tired of paying high prices for commercial products and finding that they aren't as good as advertised. Once again, thanks for the great ideas and techniques.
I am a life long model rail road builder. Last winter I tore down my layout and then got Bill the Trackplanner to design a new layout from scratch. I am so impressed with his work and am now in the process of building a beautiful new layout. Bench work is up, and about 65 percent of the track is down as we speak. As soon as finances allow, I'll buy the rest of the turnouts I need and finish up the track work. I recommend getting a really good track plan to anyone for the least problems on a layout. My biggest love of model railroading is doing the scenery. I enjoy every moment of it and your tutorials give me a whole new avenue to explore. Cheers
Hey Mark Great video! You can also use clear silicone. It's much cheaper and can be found as UV resistant. It has the same bendy properties, making it suitable for shaping after it's dried. However, not all of the products are suitable for painting, so check the label for that when you are checking for UV resistance :) Cheers from DK
Wow! very interesting, creative and practical your tutorial, thanks for sharing ... I'm subscribing to your channel, to follow the news .. hugs from Brazil!
im making 3d terrain for dnd/rpg wargames using hirstarts moulds etc and heard about your channel. great stuff so far which will help with me crafting water scenes. very inexpensive method which is exactly what i was looking for.
I stumbled on this while reserching for building a mini city for my next film projection. In the city I need to have some waterfalls and this is great for that. Thanks for showing this!!!! Especially using the toilet paper with wood glue and water. This looks great!
I have heard people adding a tiny bit of purple paint to epoxy resin to counter the yellowing effect. Purple is the opposite color of yellow in the colorwheel. This is for regular (construction) epoxy that can be quite sensitive to UV light. I have used special "casting" epoxy resin specifically used for display purposes which has a much better UV resistance (but is more expensive).
Fantastic video and great budget friendly techniques. Love the toilet paper trick and plan to use it. Great water effect and love the falls. Very realistic. Thanks!👍🏼
Thank you for the positive feedback Robert! I wanted to make the falls as low cost and easy to make as possible. There are so many videos out there already, which looks awesome, but is impossible to achieve without lots of skills and practice.
While watching this video, I had a rather sarcastic thought; to have a railroad of that size and detail, Swedish winters must be very long, cold, and dark. But showing the detail is what's fascinating about your construction.

George Boyer Swedish winter’s can be cold, dark and long in some places but it’s only dark 24/7 in the northern Sweden but in the south it’s around 16:00. So you kinda right and wrong.
@@DaveWshh I admitted to being sarcastic. One of my most prized possessions is a picture of sunrise on Christmas Day 1983, taken in Trondheim, Norway. About two hours later, I took another picture, sunset on Christmas Day.
Very different way of making your actual water, but looks like the TP can actually give you some variations/ripples in the water. Does look like it take a bit longer than the "pouring" techniques, but your "ponding areas look really great!
👍Super video, great scenery!, I'm just getting started in model trains and layouts and what great inspiration!explained very clear and with enthusiasm..thanks Marklin
i was recommended one of his videos for some bizarre reason but you know what? i’m here to stay. this man has chaotic energy
Thank you! You’re welcome!
the guy holding up the water effect to the camera like a beauty guru- I Stan
This made me laugh so hard 😂
The sound of the water falls really add to the display. Very nice.

My jaw actually dropped when I saw the final result of your paint job. Kudos!!
I really like that toilet-paper-water-technique. It seems way cheaper than using resins and looks great.
Greetings from the future! Having just lived through 2020... You should have knocked on wood.
@@crowqueen3687 I was just thinking the same thing. Resin is actually easier to get than toilet paper! What madness has befallen us.
I agree.
En español por favor
That’s why I now use toilet paper for modelling… and resin for toilet paper … so far it’s not working out so great 🥺
im gonna try this, it looks fantastic
I love how awful it looks when the paint is wet and then BOOM it looks so real. Crazy amazing.
they were never "awful" they were just growing
Fascinating and well presented video. Informative and well explained.

I enjoy listening to Swedish people. They tend to speak English so beautifully. And of course, this beautiful diorama is also a bonus.
