About Video Game Sophistry:
Video Game Sophistry is an opportunity to celebrate the creators and the artistry found in Video Games. I believe that Games are the most effective medium from experiencing another world, and another way to live. Expect to see a series of videos showcasing the narratives hidden in every game, interviews with game developers, along with our bench mark weekly podcast, Dialogue Wheel.

actual whiplash tho
Yes!
I always assumed that people that died in the sea turned into sea monsters. The Mind Lurkers are the dead soldiers, the giant eel in Gale's Cliffs is the Whaler who... well disappeared. The monsters at the Devil's Spine are the former inhabitants of the civilisation that lived there, and the Leviathan is your dead wife.
The issue is, however, that the monster in Stellar Basin is probably not the deceased sister of the researcher, but rather, plausibly, an alien spore from a meteorite. The boat-fish-monster in the Marrows likewise is not the old Mayor, since the old Mayor is not dead. Still, there is a grieving father there, so perhaps, though it is unlikely, his son is that monster.
I would have assumed this to be the intended story, had it not been for the latter two monsters.
It would make sense, however. If another DLC or statement in future manages to explain the origins of these creatures, be it like how you explained, or regular creatures such as a blacktip reef, stingray or anglerfish were struck under Cthulhu's influence to be just like the aberrations, then it would make for a much darker and in all honesty cool plot
Nice theorycrafting but... The whaler is the fanatic in the ruins and the mind ones killed the squad.
Although I can't dispute the possibility for the rest.
This was a great game, especially playing handheld on switch! Although the ending was a bit underwhelming. But still worth playing.
Its hella scary tough ngl. Thats why i didnt complete it
@@Casualized Try playing on passive mode. I had to do that at the end.
@@Casualizedsave the game by going to a harbor, then just experiment crashing a few times or letting your panic build up to the max or let whatever scary monster there is get you.
That's what I did and the release of that tension made the game a lot easier afterwards.
After searching for a ways to get a good ending, I realized that one of the messages that was marked as "???" was a hint for the the good ending.
"My Darling,
I have found you at last.
When you left I was scattered to the winds. But now...I feel almost whole again.
There's just one thing left to do.
Throw me back."
The book was covered in his wife's blood and the line "Throw me back." was referring to the book itself.
Never knew this game was this dark. I mean I knew it had some scary stuff in there when I was watching Jack play it but damn.
the messages was indeed from his dead wife as researcher told us she also keep finding letters from her dead sister about events after sister died
Mans just said our junk is deformed 😔
This needs to be a mini series.
Eh you find lovecraftian movies everywhere. This one is special because the fact it’s a game you get to immerse and play for yourself, which is personally better in this case
How does this video only have 4,577 views it explains everything
The creature rising from the abyss isnt stated to be cthulhu. It could be any elder god, or not an elder god at all.
I believe this game was partly inspired by a Tumblr post; If so, it changed a fair bit
I didn't see all these cutscenes
They never hint, mention, or call the thing in the bad ending "Cthulhu". That's not true.
THEY NEVER HINT THAT THAT'S CTHULHU! It's the overarching narrative about the game
@@VideoGameSophistrywhen does it mention elder gods or Cthulhu? You need to provide evidence for these claims instead of mocking people.
@@beef81263How is he mocking people?
@@roqeebbakare2558 did you read his comment?
@@beef81263that’s not mocking someone. If you think that’s how you mock someone then you’ve lived a sheltered life 😂
Great video
ah so thats how you get the good ending
I love the second ending, I watched jacksepticeye play and man I did not see that coming! I actually jaw dropped 🤣🤣 such a great game that I would never play
(Thalassophobia)
My thouvht on the endrit h horror. It's not catholic but his daughter who is said to be sleeping in the deepest depths of the ocean
Was it actually confirmed to be Cthulhu? There are more than one of these Eldritch horrors
