I spent 20 hours in Dredge and never knew that the obelisk in the devils spine could be read with high enough madness, nor did I see the leviathan warning near the edge of the map because I just assumed there would be an invisible wall or something. I thought it was really weird that in the good ending, I just got eaten by a Big Fish, but knowing what I missed now, it's a comforting thought. Thank you!
the fisherman had the book from the beginning of the game. if you look closely at 0:27 you can see the book on the bottom right. Little details like these are amazing
this games so cool, because its so rare for games to utilize lovecraftian elements so well, save for bloodborne but by now most of us know thats one of the best examples of lovecraftian horror in video games
Such a Great Lovecraftian Game. If you paid attention in the beginning, you'd actually see that the Collector was just you from the beginning, since you had the Crimson Book, and whenever the collector appears, its through a Mirror, though kinda looks like a door. Seriously, this is such a good game. Its the type that should get awards. The Split Personality Plot Twist Reveal reminds me of Bioshock Infinite. 6:30 Kinda sad the Fisherman had to die. 😢 But, I guess, in a way, he's been united with his wife. And, even with the Crimson Book gone, someone like him, or his other self the Collector would be able to use the Dark Powers of the Book without needing the Book. So I guess he did have to go. Like, maybe in his life he'd never use the books power again, but what if on a whim he taught a little to some Islander? Like a Child or something, that has a chance of going BADLY.
Leviathan also saves the iron rig from the kraken. I think there a reason why that Kraken is hidding itself in the stellar basin as it fear the Leviathan. And Kraken would be a big threat to all the cities in Dredge.
The Leviathan was always hunting you, trying to stop you. The more magic you used the brighter the eye became, once its fully red the Leviathan can consume you. That's why the collector which is a hallucination created from the books warned you not to use too much of the magic, it knows.
Most of the time, the waters the player inhabits is far too shallow for the leviathan. But make no mistake, it's looking for you. The whole game. If you have a keen eye you can see it patrolling in the distance or going in the deep waters between regions. Despite being such a powerful creature, I doubt it has very good visual senses, so it makes sense that it can't find you on it's own unless you're the only object on the surface for many miles. Not to mention it has to make SURE it's you first, just by sensing the power of the book, which only intensifies enough for the leviathan to be able to detect it from anywhere once you have all the artifacts.
imo the reason it doesnt consume you earlier is that it doesnt want to risk the Artefacts being used again, so it waits for you too collect then all before killing you
The Lovecraftian entities certain all have their specific roles & purposes which certainly make's it a really fun genre to explore! My theory aimed to highlight the duality between the pantheon of eldritch entities and Leviathan, the creature from the Bible. Think of it like the Evil Old Gods vs. The Almighty God.
I like this theory, giving sense, its nice, and our guardian of the seas Leviathen is nice guy. Good job HumanlyOne. Also backgroun song is called : " Empty Moons of Jupiter "
the very best thing about this game is it never, ever, ever forces you to do anything. It does not tell you where to go, it does not tell you what to do, most of the time it doesn't even tell you how to acquire the artifacts. It gives you a map with a shitload of mysteries and a bloodcurdling story for you to enjoy and discover along the way you choose. When they both came to Playstation plus catalog, I was indecisive between playing Dave the Diver and Dredge. I'm so glad I made the right choice.
Ofcourse leviathan is the hero everything the player does will lead to the end of everything one way or another and leviathan and the other hostile giant creatures are trying to get rid of the threat that is the player and having the object that is the main problem hidden in there territory reduces the chance of retrieving it.
Might be a biblical thing instead of a Natural thing, the Leviathan might be a beast send by our "god" in an attempt to make sure the elder god doesn't appear again, yet as stated many times before god works in mysterious ways and didnt want to take the fisherman's free choice away, so the creature was a save guard and yet also a solution. Whilst the fisherman doesnt have "Faith" in a traditional way, god seems to have send the creature to "Guide" one of its other creatures.
@@Raduldo thats one of the respective outcomes, with surface lvl thinking. But really you are just dooming your beloved a worse fate and in extension the whole world in one and arguably being saved in the other, possibly being reunited with her in that regard. What are you thoughts if u care to elaborate?

What if the leviathan gave him heaven, he waits until you give up that power and accept the loss.

I can’t wait to play the DLC and catch all the new fish!
Why didn't the leviathan eat you the first chance it had? Why did it wait until the ending of the game? Thats the only plothole that bothers me

You are not supposed to go outside of the map so there is that...also... don't worry about it
Glad you perservere in making content. Means I found another creator that I can satiate my hunger for lore from time to time.
Absolutely! I’ll be publishing quite a few videos this month and even more when Blasphemous 2 comes out!
@@TheInhumanOne that might be a good enough reason for me to buy the Blasphemous series. Went through Hollow Knight but am scared to pick another up.
You know this is one of the 2 theories about the Dredge Leviathan, the other one says that it is the evil God's most powerful servent
I like my theory better 😉
@@TheInhumanOne Obviously, but the other one does fit with the eldritch horror more technically
