- Is it possible to beat Dredge without sleeping once?
In this game, the less you sleep, the more horrifying things will happen and since I will not sleep at all, it is going to be a crazy challenge.

Seeing Dredge get a challenge video brings a tear to this old sailor's eye.

According to the fandom wiki, high enough panic levels can cause the insta-kill Leviathan to spawn in after enough time - the same one that spawns if you try go off the map or during the secret ending
My guess is it didn’t spawn because you stopping at docks and daytime kept your panic levels low enough to avoid spawning it

it was yesterday that I was ballsy enough to sale from gale cliffs after afew days without sleeping to greater marrow and back, I jumped out of my seat when the leviathan came out oh no where, remember to stop at the docks fellow fishermen!

Tip: The Mind Suckers are attracted to movement, if you don’t move while they’re active they forget you’re there and leave. The Airman actually tells you that if you ask him how he made the traps.
This man just became that one insane sailor that claims to have seen sirens and merfolk in the seas out to get him
Another tip: atrophy is guaranteed to catch a corrupted fish, so it's useful for the volcano quest

@@MrNitron87 It works like this: If you have not discovered the fish yet, you will not always get an aberration.
If you did discover the fish already but not its aberration then you will get an aberration 100%.
If the fish has two different aberrations then you will have to use atrophy twice on the same type of fish and you will get the aberrations.
After that its becomes random again. Atrophy is a great tool to 100% the fish encyclopedia.
Here's another DREGDE challenge idea: beat the game backwards, starting by going straight to devils spine and ending by collecting the key in greater marrow.
Edit: to make the challenge possible, I'd recommend fishing and dropping every fish exept for the first abberation you find, then selling that to be able to gain the dredge and starting the main quest, and to those who say you can't fish at devils spine, he can improvise by fishing in the open ocean for coastal fish.

@@kusolp544 to explain, I was basing this off the order told to you by the collector, he tells you to go to devils spine last, and the key is collected in the starter area, hence saying that's final.
dredge is the first game I've ever 100%'d because when I did everything for the main quest I was so close anyway I thought "might as well"
I vote that next challenge is completing the whole game, as in, discover all fish and aberrations, fully upgrade the ship, do all sidequests, all of that, also without sleeping
How about also doing it in 100 Days?

I reallly loved Dredge. Cool environment and gameplay loop (allbeit a bit thin) but, it was incredibly easy. Like night time posed no real threat

I'm terrible at video games and didn't die in Dredge until the basin tentacle monster. It really surprised me that I could go that long without dying! So yes, for more advanced gamers, it probably was a bit boring

@Karan Singh all 3. I had the option to do the kind ending early on, before I got the last relic, but I turned it down to go get the last relic and then did the evil ending

i hope the game add a fake "fish" if the player don't sleep like a missplace fish in the wrong biome that if the player fish on it and tried to sell it to whoever will just say "get some sleep" and maybe even fake junks that once put on the cargo will just turn into rocks

about that ghostship, i saw another youtuber tricking it and escaping by turning off the lights.
it seems like those ghostships track you by sight and sound.
i haven't confirmed this to be true, but it's worth a try. i hope this helps in future playthroughs.
Alright, so well done, good challenge. But can I just say, shout out to the scene transition at 3m48s, from in-game 5 to 10pm. Syncing up the camera moving around the boat was seamless!

The cool thing in crazy mode is not only the shit happening but that you can touch the dark stones. They give you visions which give you a good glimpse of things to come and what once was.
The mind suckers won’t chase if if you stay still, wait for them to disappear and then continue on

You “sleep” when you install/uninstall parts to your ship.
Kind of, but it wasn't really sleeping since the character in game is awake. I really wouldn't count that as sleeping for the challenge

What about a 'no Hull upgrade' challenge ? You can upgrade you boat with the first row but you are stuck with the tiny boat with 3 damage tiles max.

You should attempt this challenge again since you have more experience with the game. Great video I should mention.
Also little tip, instead of night fishing nonstop at night, you could keep uninstalling and installing ship parts to pass time.
Basically all of my newer challenges are without sleeping, just because I always set myself a time limit xD you should check them out :)

I empathize because I've barely slept since starting this game
No time to sleep, I've got places to be and fish to sell.
How's this idea for a challenge run, you have to buy a net as soon as possible and from then on you can only use nets to catch fish.
The only rod you're allowed to use is the abyssal/hadal rod, and you can only use it for quest required fish (can't use it to grind for money). You can also use crab pots for the two crabs required for progress. I think this should be possible since there are nets for all the other fish types.
I could try, but I guess it would just be me driving around and waiting for fish to get caught all the time xD

If something slithers into your cargo just discard the infected fish and keep going.
This game is nice, but it is ironically quite shallow. Like you would think that going mad would have serious consequence, but no : going out at night is the same as completely ignoring your sanity. We can see it with this challenge video: it was practically a compilation of a normal playthrough.
Honestly, when I first paid 40€ today for the physical Deluxe edition on the Switch, I definitely had some buyer's remorse.
I have played the demo through a few days earlier and while it was fun, it was kinda hmmmm still.
But then, I got to the island with the hungry dude and only then realized how big the map actually was and that the demo quests were scrunched together, I can say that it lessened the remorse quite a bit.
I'll play it for a few more hours now, I hope I won't finish it. 😂

I beat the game without sleeping either. Completed all pursuits pre DLC in day 41.
I have 2 challenge ideas for dredge. The first idea would be to do a 100% run for all the quest. The second idea would be to catch every possible fish in this game, with the deformed fish. And maybe a full item quest, so you need every single research part to get all the items unlocked in the game
I also thought about catching every fish in game. But I think its a bit monotone, dont you think?
@@Matzelele Yea that's true, but it would be cool to see special fish and the other forms, I'm sure there are people who don't have all the fish and have never caught the other forms of them.
I just finished the without ever realizing the telescope is there for us to distantly see what kind of fish is in a fishing spot. Goddammit, they should've had implemented forced tutorial message on which tool does what. I was assuming that since the fish aren't really visible underwater from far away anyway, and neither can we see anything in the distant at night, the telescope was pretty much worthless and was implemented just because they just want it to exists in the game lol
Happened to me too in my first run. I have made a few tips and tricks videos you can check out if you want :)
Collecting all relics is actually the bad ending, while there's also a good ending. I'd wanna see the good ending with same challenge, as it's a bit longer and complex than the normal "bad" ending. Not necessarily hard, just longer. Pretty easy if you know where to go
Actually? It's not longer. Good end only requires FOUR out of FIVE relics to accomplish.
@@shadowraith10 Hmm, maybe I thought it was longer cause I just stumbled upon it without even knowing. But maybe you're right, might be same amount of time, just more complex cause there's more steps

In my experience, when something slithers into your cargo, quickly dropping the infected fish kept my other fish safe

Worst thing that happened to me in that game is for the orange momma fish to damage all of my engines.... I had to CRAWL for ages in order to get the thing repaired, since my last save was foolishly in a place that wasn't the shipyard dock. Sometimes it's just better if you get yourself killed.
That momma really annoying tho😂

You know the fish at the volcano that grab you and slow you can be dispelled by the power
Dredge but you can't upgrade your boat. Or can only research and use the bare minimum in terms of equipment. Or can't read.

If you dont sleep the eye never shuts.
If you pay attention, it shuts exactly once: When the dredge itself is installed. Apparently you're less insane dealing with the Collector than being on the ocean... which is funny when you know what's going on.
How about trying to catch one category of fish at a time, in the same order in which it's feasible to access them? First all the Coastal fish species, then all the Shallow, etc. Really give that Encyclopedia a workout.

2. How does your sanity get reset throughout the Video? Cause you dont recover sanity when staying at lit up places you only recover it when you sleep

So the panic levels are more like a pseudo difficulty mode, considering you can survive it.
If you panic for long enough I’m pretty sure you will be insta’d by the leviathan

The mind suckers will not agro if your not moving but stopping moving while it is agro staying still does not help.
Didnt watched video full yet,but shitting on sleeping dont seem that hard. Only thing i still cant "counter" are the ghost dharks. Beside that u can eiher use lamps or honks
