Yes, I didn't know that, but thanks for the tip!
ghost fog?
@@DaveyTheDuckGaming i think he means the whispering cluster of panic coloured lights that home in on you
@@cubex6342 what do they actually do? I let one stay on me for like a minute, and nothing happened. Does it just increase your panic?
@@Krawberry yea, it just bumps up your panic. The longer you stay in it, the more panic
I find it pretty funny when the Night Angler mimics our Foghorn in whatever way. As if it feels like another player is mimicking me.
You can really make a concert out of it
@Matzel A duet with a eldrich sea monster
ROFL
I remember using the foghorn in a funny way only to hear it again
Honestly I’d love if this game had multiplayer but you could only communicate with foghorn/very very close up proximity chat
Its not the angler mimicking you. I believe the achievement states that its your own horn echoing back.
Mind sucker finds the boat by movement. You can simply stop your boat to avoid being attacked. You can rely on controller vibration or music cue.
You're right, thanks for the tip!
Also, they do not cause the roots. Roots are a completely separate effect that can happen any time you're in twisted strands with high panic, even after you finish the main quest.
Yeah my only real criticism of Dredge is that the most dangerous lurking monster of the four regions is the first one you face in gale cliffs, meanwhile the lagoon and twisted strands are ridiculously easy to avoid, and the final area monster just requires avoiding and clearing the small buggers. Just feels a bit ass backwards having the most difficult to deal with regional monster be the first one you face.
*Ghost Seagulls* : Can also be scared off by your horn.
*Monster in the Basin* : CAN be affected by banish. Same effect as the station's alarm, though obviously far shorter. I'd certainly focus on getting the station up and running, but if you wanted to just nab the artifact and run, Banish works.
I did not know this.
It does require a sequence break, however, as Banish is the third skill unlocked.
@@ShadowOfCicero Sequence break implies there's a set path. You can do the mangrove area without the deeper gear, which is how I did it as I missed the researcher's place.
You can scare the ravens off with the fog horn.
The red water spouts spawn when you have high sanity and can outrun your boat, probably even a max speed boat. However, they have a very wide turn radius.
The Mind Mindsuckers can't see you if you stay still.
The Serpent in the Gale Cliffs only chases you if they see you. So, if you see rocks fall from the cliffs and hide, he won't see you to chase you.
With best engines, and full haste you go just as fast as a red water spout, so you can keep ahead of it.
There’s a funky trick with Haste that can let you dodge the phantom shark, but it doesn’t work for other panic-based attackers like the tentacles. The phantom shark adjusts its path to your ship’s natural movement and direction, if you suddenly change both those last minute by turning and using haste, you can escape it unharmed
Well, there is a problem, the artifact you get from the stellar basin IS the artifact that grants you banish when it delivering to blackstone manor.
it actually does work with the tentacles, but it is a lot harder to do it. you can dodge almost everything with haste tbh, the only things you don't really "dodge" are the ones that are so slow that you are already escaping them before having to dodge.
@@gratefulgamer7907 actually, banish is based on getting the third artifact, whatever that is- it doesn’t necessarily have to be the bracelet
I actually did dodge the shark by sharply turning with haste so it works.
You can also avoid the tentacle as well actually. I've done this with the max speed in game +haste ability.
Phantom Shark : Boost right or left when Shark is approaching directly to you
Raven: Blow the horn.
I hate when “something” slithers into your hold and ruins your fish at night. Happens to me too often! I love this game.
It mostly happens with low sanity (orange or red eye)
@@DarkEssence66 I definitely spend too much time with impaired sanity!
@@laurasadie8357 ah lol, not completely sure but I think better lights slow down natural lose of sanity
@@DarkEssence66 I think you’re right! I binged through this game in the first days of its release, and since I saw each ending and also went to the edge of the map to be eaten, there isn’t really any replay-ability in the normal sense. But I love the atmosphere so much that I think I’ll probably start a new file soon anyway! It’s just enjoyable to be in that world. With impaired sanity.
Ravens = horn
Oh, I didnt know that, my bad. I will pin the comment!
Yeah if you just hold down your horn, they will fly away. But you have to hold the horn down, I did a few honks the first time and they didn’t leave
@@Matzelele hay..they are called phantom sharks...I thought they were called torpedo sharks....which is it?
@@moodyowlproductions4287 I only heard of phantom sharks so far, but I am not sure. The appearance looks more like a phantom than a torpedo I think
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
All these people talking about using the horn against the ravens... man I dont think I even realized I HAD a horn.
Haha, now you know xD
I had never seen a phantom shark throughout my 16h-playthrough before this video. Pretty sick !
I only saw one in my second playthrough, were I NEVER sleep. Seems they are pretty rare
I never saw one either
Found it on my first playthrough, it appear when i didnt sleep for a night
Lucky you. I'm not even half finished and he's got me three times.
I've played for a little over 5 hours and I've seen 3 or 4
Cursenados (Tornados that appears due to panic and is literally homing on you (Yes they can even chase you for long time)) sometimes can put a cursed fish into your cargo hold upon impact.
I got a Toothy mackerel in a such way.
Correction: The Tentacle Monster in Stellar Basin CAN be Banished. I've done it, and was quiet surprised.
Yes, I realized that too😅
There is a difference between pasive Kraken and when it about to attack you, drag your vision so that you can see the Kraken
When you enter Kraken attack range the abyss blue light(the light around Kraken tentalce) , will turn red from there, you can just haste your way
Thanks for the tip!
The thing that scared me the most were dolphins. Everytime I went across vast expanses of ocean a dolphin would appear and scare tf outta me.
I never saw a Dolphin 🥲
@@Matzelele They just appear randomly around the map in small groups of like 2-3. But you won't hear them until they make splashing sounds behind your boat. They're not hostile, but it still scares me everytime.
@@numskull8943 I was approaching the volcano from the direction of the cliffs across the open water and a giant whale jumped out of the water right in front of me. I was in awe. It was the only time I saw one!
You talk about dolphins.. What is with the freaking wales? They scared the shit out of me, was in gale cliffs driving in the open ocean, scared about the serpent and then a wale appeared...
The leviathan can appear in the day in any deep water, not just outside the map. He wont eat you inside the map, but you dont want to run into his large top fins that stick out.
I actually just got done with my first playthrough and i was at the island below devils spine and i saw the leviathan disappear below the water then he came from below and ate me scared the hell outta me because i thought he didnt attack unless out of the map i think because my panic was high enough so he can actually attack you in map
Actually, one never-sleep playthrough I watched, the player was inside the map, avoided the fins and watch the body pass through. Then his boat get eaten by the leviathan.
They definitely can eat you inside the map lol. I had one eat me while I was traveling between Devil's Spine and Twisted swamp place. I saw it spawn and I started chasing it and blasting my horn just to see what would happen, and a few seconds later it killed me
@@MaximumLowBlow You kinda asked for it lol.
I saw a ghost boat up close without the "monster fish" under the sea, it was kinda the opposite of the rocks.
When i had the light on the ghost boat i couldn't see it but when i turned off/away the light, the boat was back.
It didn't do anything to me, it was just there...
Me too but it wasn't the same as my vessel but more like a pirate ship that vanished when i got closer
@@Morty143that one is harmless and i think only spawns in stellar basin
You can actually use haste to dodge a lot of those monsters if you time it right. I have dodged phantom sharks quite a bit, it takes practice but you can do it.
Do you know which exactly?
@@Matzelele the ones that "charge" you are the easier ones, the quicker they are the easier it is (tornados and ghost sharks are good examples, if you time it right they just go by you), slow ones like the serpent or the night angler are also doable, but it is better to just run from them since they are usually slow enough that you can outrun them. You can also dodge tentacle attacks, be it from the monster in the stellar basin (though it is a bit hard), or from the mind sucker if you just rush out of the little "cage" the tentacles make or the huge tentacle that can appear in the ocean when you have high panic.
phantom sharks only appear when you have very high panic (talking about the red panicky eye, not the yellowish one) and you have to be in stelar basin or gale cliffs, it wont spawn anywhere else, you can defend yourself with banish if you time it right and it will back off
I think the Ghost Ravens can also be scared off by the Honk feature if you don't have Banish.
Yes, realized that later
@@Matzelele Thanks for the guide. I haven't fought many of the major monsters and I had those pesky Ghost Ravens terrorize me and eat my fish. No more! I would have never thought to Honk, but I saw someone else do it in a vid. Thanks again!
@Kabob Hope I'm glad I could help :)
Tomorrow I will upload a video where I try to beat the game without sleeping. That's wild and if you don't wanna miss it, subscribe :)
The really fast glowy shark can be dodged if you juke it hard enough
Really? I have to try that, thanks for the tip!
@@Matzelele yea it only moves in one direction when it starts charging at you, just move to the side of it
@@Matzelele It is posible to dodge it with haste, yes. You can also use Manifest to escape it if your boat is slow or damaged. Manifest is a good way to escape almost anything if your engines are out.
One more top for you guys, the tentacle Monster in stelar bassin can also be repeled with the banish spell.
the only sea monster that made me jump was the whale 😭😭😭
Well, I wouldn't call that a monster, but at least you got scared😂
@@Matzelele I once crashed into a whale and damaged my boat, soo.
This game is such a fun little indie I wish it was longer
You can scare away the crows with the fog horn.
Omg I remember the first time I played this game and came across the angler. I specifically didn’t do any research and tried to do everything on my own. I saw the other boat and thought “Oh cool, maybe I can talk to him,” and not only honked, but approached him.
I let out one of the most genuine WTF?! I’ve let out in years when it transformed, and chomped on me.
for the birds just rapid honk your horn and they go away, no need to use banish. Just switch to horn and and just keep spamming it and they will leave without taking any fish.
You can also outrun the unseeing mothers piranhas using haste if not too many are slowing your ship
Some players actually don't know those are enemies they just thought they are just ghost boats
Now they should know better xD
You can also just run over jelly bombs at high speed. The explosion is delayed enough that it won't damage the ship if you are moving fast enough, and they don't do collision damage.
I've seem 3 leviathans in one area once, I was off the seller basin and was fishing Abyssal fish, I was also going crazy, i had just pulled an all nighter in-game, but there was 3 of em, I drove away quick so I didn't learn if they were hostile
The worst for me is the tornadoes when they turn red because your panic is super high. At that stage they chase you and are both faster and more maneuverable than the sharks, they will also hit you right up until you are fully docked.
Yup, they won't stop chasing...
Once you have best engines possible and haste, you can outrun them. they are actually less maneuverable so you can get distance on them by turning fast.
You can get ride of the ghost ravens if you honk your horn btw...
Ty for this!
I thank you for watching :)
That fog horn was funny 😂
Pretty sure the fog horn works on the ravens too.
@brion thanks bebe
Damn you did a great job at not explaining how to avoid these monsters except "be careful" which is very obvious
nice guide dude thank you
Thanks! :)
the Leviathan was waiting for the lighthouse to be out of range to make their move smh.. im almost to this point in this game 😮💨 great video and tips🙏🏾🙏🏾 many thanks
LOL I didn't know Night Anglers can be so rhythmic and musical!
Makes me want to hack a BEAT with the foghorn and listen to them play it back.😂
Leviathan is the good ending and unfortunately isn’t the protector of the sea as it answers directly to the Old God/commanded by the Old God, the massive creature in the bad ending is the Old God, Old God needed you to release the artefacts into the ocean so that the Old God was no longer sealed and released from its prison of the depths
I really got out of bounds on the waters the Levi than never came to devour me. It just passed in front of me and that was it. I did turn around eventually but it would not come and eat me.. was my boat too fast?
It has a three strike system, it will pass by your boat twice and if continue to leave, it will eat you on the third
@@Laapsap also it will eat you on the first strike if you stop moving, i found out the hard way
Yes, you have to drive a little further and he will come!
Yeah I was really surprised by how far out of bounds I had to go before she actually chomped me. But it'll happen eventually!
The tips here are kinda basic, and not actually very helpful, like the ghost shark in stellar basin isn't only dodgable by banish but also if you steer perpendicular to its path and haste boost, actually haste can be used to dodge a lot of these monsters in ways not mentioned here
You can dodge ghost shark if you fast enough and do a quick turn when it get closer to you.
in Stellar Basin I encountered a ghost pirate ship while cruising around at night, not sure if that counts as a monster or not.
Never seen that one, interesting
Ok so i didn’t imagine thati saw that as i was docking at blackstone isle for a split second and when i immediately undocked to see, it was gone
@@zacharywilson3571 yeah same, I don’t think it’s the angler fish like the other ship, it just seems to come and go without going aggro
@@headfangs Yeah I saw one around the Marrows, I immediately ran into it to see if it was a monster and it just disappeared.
In Gale Cliffs I encountered ghost buildings once, weird.
went my entire playthrough without seeing the phantom shark if i did i know i would of jumped
This was also my second playthrough😅
Oh wow I just finished this game and didn't even know there were ravens or glowy sharks
I also only saw them on my second playthrough. Right now I'm trying to beat the game without sleeping so you can imagine how many of those creatures I have to deal with...
You can honk your horn to scare off the birds!
Is there a way to trigger the Leviathan breaching event?
He warns/swallows you whole when you leave the map, but one time he just elbow dropped me. It was fucking rad!
It happened North of the Kraken fairly early game.
Never saw him instead of when leaving the map. Interesting
i saw it once near the fort at the basin, but ran away before it could do anything.
next time i saw it was near the temple at the spine late game, this time i stayed still and watched it, it swallowed me whole, game over.
next time i saw it was as part of the ending.
i may have heard it one other time, but was busy and didn't really confirm.
In one night i saw a large pirate ship in the marrows. I was in greater marrow and it sailed to little marrow and vanished there. It was like the night angler. I was to scared to drive next to it to see what it really is.
nice video man
Thanks!
Didn't knew that the Night Angler could mimic a whole sequence haha, it is so not scary now.
Hay..you forgot the cracken(it's a huge hairy colossal butt that comes out of the sea...best way to deal with it...bring a ton of air freshener..lot of it"
Never saw that one before😂
@@Matzelele for now....(FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT)!!!...oh ohhhh..dammit that is nasty
@@moodyowlproductions4287 Sus
@@Matzelele Sus...what does that mean... please tell"?
When the doom music kicks in
the horn scares away crows!
Great video.
Thanks! :)
There is a giant Manta Ray that attacks your boat as well.
Yes, I will do an updated version once the next dlc is out. They added a few since this video was released
I hope that they add a dlc where we are able to fight some of the sea monsters like how you can kill mind suckers
Later on when I pretty much maxed out my ship and got like top speed the angler is a joke I literally got around with it and it really can’t do anything back
I think you can scare off the ghost ravens using the horn.
The ghost ravens will leave if you use the horn as well. The piranhas can attack you even without the unseeing mother if they are following you for long enough. The mind suckers will not become aggressive if your not moving. Also if you activate the warp ability it can get you away from any danger as long as the danger is not at the creepy old man's dock already.
U sure about the piranhas? The rest sounds correct
@@Matzelele yeah I was on cool down for banish and the babies came with me towards the dock but the mother was no where to be seen. I watched the little piranhas jump up and damage my boat. It took out my engine.
@@andrewsanders17 that's crazy. So they are not only annoying but also painful😅
I slept quite a lot whenever I had the chance, so I never really came across the monsters too much. This was only when my boat was fresh. After I got it maxed out I try to stay out during dark. The only monster I hate the most is the phantom shark
let's not forget about the other parts to the leviathan such as with high panic it can circle your boat in open waters or appear and a few moments later swallow your boat if you don't run
Now I want to see the fastest possible speed in dredge, because I am genuinely curious
I already have a short planned on that topic :)
@@Matzelele oh right cool thanks I’ll be looking forward to that
The big engine stack + four 1 tile jet drives + the books that give you engine speed upgrades + haste.
Makes you drive like a speedboat, it's crazy. Going around the map takes no time at all
I think you can use the horn against ravens
The best method to get past the serpent is just go full speed at it and break left or right last second, big guy is very bad a tight cornering
I have thallassaphobia so playing this game was one of the most stressful experiences ever i played it super safe and almost never got attacked i didnt even die once
for the ravens honk your horn and they will fly away.
If your ship is fast enough, (I believe anything over 50-60 knots, not sure) you can dodge the phantom Sharks charge with a hard turn. It's charge is always a straight line and doesn't change once it appears. As soon as you see one, sharp turn to the left or right and boost as fast as you can out of the way
you can honk your horn at the birds and they will go away
The whole time I played I had no idea the lava/steam got rid of the piranhas, damnit!
I've seen a giant ghost pirate ship sailing straight at me and I didn't stick around to find out what happens also have been attacked by a tentacle trying to slam down on my boat
I also saw the tentacle monster in my next playthrough. I could imagine the pirate ship is the mimic angler in different locations
There is actually another monster that from what I understand is kind of rare, the giant manta ray or “ demon ray “ as I call it, is a medium paced predator that also appears during high panic and can be repealed using banish, I have only encountered them in the gale cliffs and marrows area and they can appear during the day and night
4:40 What is this sound called? I'm literally losing my head, I'm spanish I've heard it all my life but I didn't know it's globally recognizable, someone knows about this?
you can dodge phantom sharks with haste and a fast enough boat.
the serpent cant catch you if you go over 40 knots. also the way to detect the serpent is by the screen shaking, meaning its coming out of one of the various holes in Gale Cliffs.
Stellar basin Kraken thing can be dodge as long as you have the speed, but you won't be able to fish close to it, in which case you will need the researcher questline for it.
I was once attacked by a tentacle around gale cliffs, seemed undodgeable and i couldn't see the monster well as the panic was both in game and irl
You can chase away the ravens with the fog horn, btw
I finished the game without using Banish (or any spell). The mind sucker will only come after you if you move. As soon as you hear it rise out of the water stop and wait for a few seconds. It will submerge again and stay submerged for a short time, allowing you to get through the area safely.
Occasionally I’ve run into a large stingray with sharp teeth that chases your boat but I don’t think it does any damage to you since when I was in the stellar basin and it caught me while I was fishingand nothing happened, not Sure how to deal with it besides fleeing.
You can blast the horn for the ghost ravens too.
the ravens go away when you use the horn
you can get rid of the ravens by honking the horn
I use my fog horn to scare away the ghost raven.
You can also use your horn to scare off the ravens
The ghost shark isnt only in gale cliffs and stellar basin idk bout devils spine but i got attacked by it in twisted strands
Ah okay, wasn't sure about that one, thanks!
These guides have been time savers!
Thanks man, I appreciate the support!
5:50 if u notice them in time u can turn and use haste to dodge them.
you can also scare birds off using the horn
What about the giant stingray type creature I know I’m late but I haven’t heard anyone talk about it
Birds need a honk and there gone
Man, the voice... like a whisper.
:'3
In my later videos it should be better to understand :)
Jelly fish bombs, i just drive throught them
if you blow your foghorn it scares the ghost ravens away.
I always play “La Cucaracha” for the Night Anglers 😊
Isnt there another tentacle monster? Ive only have had it happen once before but one time out of nowhere I got slapped by a tentacle in open ocean
