Been watching your channel for a while. Just bought our first trailer so trying to learn all we can. I love your style & authenticity, and wanted to show a bit of gratitude for all your hard work in creating these valuable videos:-)
Thank you for your support and for being a long time viewer. I hope you have lots of wonderful trips, and make many special memories in your trailer! All the best.
Use caution when changing your tire when fully hooked up to your truck. If you have weight distribution, it puts additional down force on your TT and bottle jack.
I have never had the opportunity to change a tire yet on my travel trailer. It's a 2 axle. I bought a 6 ton bottle jack just in case. Those 2 ton jacks seem like they struggle lifting an RV.
@@raylaux8295 directly under the leaf spring pack....you are telling me that will fail??? thats where it takes the load....im not buying your BS....ive loaded my single axle down with WDH and nothing has ever happened like what you got...i think you posted it for views....ive been welding and fabbing for 30 years and never saw anything what you are claiming
@@59plexi...Why are you being such a D-bag? Pretty sure he's not selling any BS, so no need for you to buy any now, is there. You asked the friggin' question genius, @Ray Laux just told you what Dexter Axle says to do in their manual. If you don't like that advice then don't do it, if you been welding for 30yrs and loaded your single axle down with no problems, then why the F**K are you asking questions about it on here anyway!!??
We purchased a new 20-foot Forest River Ozark camper yesterday. Thanks! I'll be viewing a lot of your videos.
@@steveneldred8928 hope some of them are helpful!

Just a general note for those that haven't considered a tire change yet; Trailers typically don't come with a jack or a lug wrench.

That's a good point. I wouldn't have figured that to be, but it makes sense.
Thank you! Very helpful. First time travel trailer owner and I know NOTHING
Glad it was helpful! Be sure to check out the rest of the channel :-)
CastleRock tires are absolute junk. I had a blowout with mine. Thanks for the video!
Hope it didn't cause too much damage to your camper! Thanks for watching

I've since upgraded my bottle Jack too. The smaller one did ok but the handle and leverage required was a pain. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for that. Suddenly hit me that we have no jack, doh! So this helps a lot
Nice video...we just got of those jacks...thanks for some tips. Stay safe ✌️from New Jersey
could you put the jack under the axle behind the wheel and jack the axle up instead of the trailer frame?
Not on axle tube. Dexter axle says jack up on trailer frame and let axle hang from frame.

@@59plexi Under the spring pak will straighten out the bow in the axle and loose positive camber.

Did you have your trailer hooked up to your truck or did you have the trailer tongue on blocks when you changed the tire ?
I had it on a custom built wooden block. Definitely don't want it hooked up to a WD hitch when doing this.
👍
You have to lift the axle, not the frame.
Better to lift the frame. Don't want to damage the axle.
