  • Hello friends, in this video i'll be making a simple router lifter. I upgraded my table saw with this router lifter. So my table saw is a 2 in 1 workstation now. Hope you like it.
Merhaba arkadaşlar, bu videoda basit bir freze asansörü yapıyorum. Bu freze asansörünü tezgah testereme monte ederek onu iki fonksiyonlu bir tezgaha dönüştürüyorum. Umarım beğenirsiniz.

Excellent for smaller (palm/trim) routers. However, trying to make one for me Bosch 1617 motor I had a lot of issues with the linear rods not lining up properly. I ended up making the frame that holds router motor out of a 1030 (1"×3") series t-slot aluminum extrusion (Although, I should've made it using 1020 (1"×2") t-slot as the 3" didn't allow me much clearance for my collet to move above the router insert.) The extrusion's precision and ability to join together perfectly made it all join to perfection.
I put in a 1/2" dia linear rod into the collet and at 10" above table, I had a 0.002" (of a 90°) runout when compared to table surface.
So thank you for giving me the basis for making a larger version.

After my previous home-made router lift broke when the lifting thread became damaged, I thought I would try this as it looked pretty straightforward. I'm sure the basic idea is very good but I struggled to get the accuracy needed. Therefore a couple of notes of caution.
    a) the wooden square frame that holds the router in place has to made very accurately. Firstly the wood has to be cut perfectly square and to the exact dimensions otherwise the router will not be held tightly - not a good idea!. It also has to be assembled square as otherwise the router will not be truly vertical when the final assembly is complete. Obviously I'm not as good as Gokman as mine was not quite right
    b) Gokman drilled out the holes for the guide rods at the beginning. There is no play in the bearings and if any of the holes are slightly in the wrong place, then the assembly will not sllde smoothly.
    c) I also didn't follow how you can force 10mm guide rods into 9mm holes and keep them perpendicular to the board (again needed to smooth movement) so I drilled 10 mm holes and used epoxy.
Given my first failure and as I wanted the router to be fully perpendicular to top face of the assembly, I decided to cheat and bought a router mounting bracket from ebay for £20. I bolted this to some plywood and mounted 2 bearings on that wood. I also fitted the bearings first and used them to mark the position of the holes for the guide rods. A 3rd bearing was attached to the bracket with epoxy and then its guide-rod hole drilled
I still need to attach things to my (different shaped) table opening but hopefully the tricky stuff is done

I made a DIY router lift very similar to your design. I had an unresolvable problem with it that I do believe your unit will also have. No locking mechanism. How to keep the lift from vibrating down with use? Gravity works! Even a very small change in the depth of cut can ruin a work piece. After many, many trials to correct this abnormality, I scraped it and purchased manufactured router lift with a locking system built in. Problem solved.

It's not at all about how good this design is.
It's about how he shows absolutely nothing of how to align everything with out it binding. As well, do you really expect the router sit in his hole without slipping? The general accuracy required is way beyond his video methodology.

SUGGESTION: you went through all the trouble to make this device and edit the video. Your efforts would be much more appreciated if you would answer some of the relevant questions that appear here regarding materials used or dimensions, etc. I do hope that you take the extra effort to answer the questions or as an alternative, post plans that one can download to use as this is one of the best woodworking videos, POTENTIALLY, ever!

Do you want him to build it for you too? Why does he owe you anything else? Does it say this is a tutorial? He has 1.3 Million subs, you think he's going to waste his time answering questions from freeloaders like you all day? be proactive, figure it out on your own. You must be from india.

Hey Einstein, look at the effin' TITLE of his video for cryin' out loud! He may have a boatload of subscribers, but if he doesn't at least pretend to pay attention to the comments, then turn them off. Not a hard concept to understand: Have some courtesy, a lesson you would benefit from as well.

Es un vídeo que tiene más de dos años. No pretenderás que conteste a todas las preguntas de todos sus vídeos pasados años de su publicación. Necesitaría dos vidas
