Wow phenomenal video. It was educational without words. Slow and steady and organized. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach me. I'm a beginner, and more often then not, the things I want to build are intimidating enough to convince me out of even trying. Whether it is not having the right tools, or enough space to work in, I lack the confidence and humility to try and then fail. I definitely feel inspired having watched your video. So thank you.

I have taken a few of these apart and i have never found one with a thick layer of plastic like that. I have only found thin sheets that are polarized and thin Fresnel lenses. But also a small piece of 1/4 in Plexiglas wouldn't set you back that much.
My thoughts exactly. The DIY Perks youtube channel has much better ways of using an LCD panel. I feel that the bit of plastic was such a small part of this table that it didn't really justify it being the title of the video. Could have used anything for that insert.
That style of diffuser would only be on newer edge lit panels, those little nubbins on the surface channel light like little fiber optic pieces. So it's going to be highly dependent on what style of monitor / lcd you decide to sacrifice. Small scraps of lexan or acrylic could be sourced from sign shops or industries that use those materials for free or little cost.

@@draztiqmeshaz6226 Well, yes but I'm easily stressed which will translate into mistakes. I still try though and I have built small useful things. Making a thing like this that requires precise measurements is impossible for for me to do without the right jigs and tools. Although, that aluminium profile jig seems easy to make, if I could find the right parts that is.
@@unogazzy84 I know this feeling. Things that might help a lot starting from zero are a good square (kinex makes an inexpensive one), maybe an incra rule and mechanical pencil, a drill guide (milescraft makes an inexpensive one), and a long straightedge you can trust for a circular saw guide. I found an 8' long piece of square extruded aluminum for like a dollar at the habitat store. But yeah, one of the biggest challenges is patience. @@draztiqmeshaz6226 I do have a drill guide, a try square (I will probably buy a speed square instead soon) but I do not have a circular saw. I live in Sweden and it's way harder to get a hold of stuff cheaply here. Sweden is an hobbyists worst nightmare unless that person has connections. BTW what is the name of this tool? 11:20 I have one but I do not know the name.
Very neat use of an old screen! The light spreading properties of plexiglass also called light guide film can be used to light up the surface, when adding LEDs arround the cut edges. Could be quite interesting to have an area light from below :) awesome content as always!

Absolutely true. In a lot of instances wood can be better than metal cuz it's more easily and repaired cheaper to replace. Depending on the wood; in terms of strength-to-weight ratio. Wood can turn out to be better and is perfectly acceptable for most small-to-midsize shop tools for those without access to metal working tools.
I don't have all the tools and goodies you have. Not even close. I didn't even know what you were doing exactly half the time. But I enjoyed it a lot. You're very clever to make this router table. I've a made a shit-ton of mistakes (and learned a ton) since I set out to make a Murphy bed desk over a year ago with just a drill, circ saw and speed square. It's been a lot of hard lessons. But I try to be patient with myself and really pay attention to why things do and don't work out.
@@draztiqmeshaz6226 I do have a drill guide, a try square (I will probably buy a speed square instead soon) but I do not have a circular saw. I want one with a track so I will just have to wait until I see one in my price range.
Thanks a lot for the "incra rule" tip. I have seen those in many videos but I had no idea what they were called.
I live in Sweden and it's way harder to get a hold of stuff cheaply here. Sweden is an hobbyists worst nightmare unless that person has connections.
BTW what is the name of this tool? 11:20 I have one but I do not know the name.
The Japanese perfection on the way of the creation and moving, the clean environment, the wear style, working and resolts.
He is a very very special craft man. Very few Japanese can do like him.
I'm Japanese but his every works are incredible.
Very neat use of an old screen! The light spreading properties of plexiglass also called light guide film can be used to light up the surface, when adding LEDs arround the cut edges. Could be quite interesting to have an area light from below :) awesome content as always!
Yes・・・
i have had so much pleasure and astonishment at watching these videos, i wish i could be as clever, thank you
I wish I could take some personal classes from this guy. Absolutely perfected the wood tools. Goes to show you don't have to have metal for everything
) nn h :) u
Absolutely true. In a lot of instances wood can be better than metal cuz it's more easily and repaired cheaper to replace. Depending on the wood; in terms of strength-to-weight ratio. Wood can turn out to be better and is perfectly acceptable for most small-to-midsize shop tools for those without access to metal working tools.
Excellent work, a lot of whimsy, you made an adaptation transforming a hand router into a bench router, lots of creativity, congratulations!

love the simple box cut jig at the end, brilliant
Nice work) Not really understood at the beginning but at the and it's clear enough ))
This Guy is above all A Genius.
I don't have all the tools and goodies you have. Not even close.
I didn't even know what you were doing exactly half the time.
But I enjoyed it a lot. You're very clever to make this router table. I would screw up many of those steps and that's besides the fact I dunno what I'm doing. Lol
You're very good.
Ok- mind blown at the huge chunk of plexi inside an old monitor.
