He sang it a bit faster than normal, but still a great song. I saw him live when I was about 13 or 14 years old. He has great humor and style. Legend in my eyes.
I totally agree about the audience in a trance; The Music City Roots was originally held at the Loveless Barn in back of the Loveless Café. It was the perfect venue for acoustic artists and legends like Jonathan Edwards. But when they moved it to The Factory in Franklin, TN, the cool vibe was totally GONE. Franklin is the most conservative town in TN; The audience here looks like a Young Republican gathering, which it most likely is. You get the picture. The video here don't lie. The Loveless Barn was warm and homey and had great acoustics. Anyway....keep doing YOUR THING Jonathan, you still RULE!
The audience should have been ashamed of themselves. He's always been so talented and puts on a good show. They don't have any idea what he's singing about.
Sunshine go away today, I don't feel much like dancing Some man's come he's trying to run my life, don't know what he's asking When he tells me I better get in line, can't hear what he's saying When I grow up, I'm gonna make him mine, these ain't dues I been paying How much does it cost? I'll buy it! The time is all we've lost I'll try it! He can't even run his own life, I'll be damned if he'll run mine--sunshine Sunshine, go away today, I don't feel much like dancing Some man's come he's trying to run my life, don't know what he's asking Working starts to make me wonder where fruits of what I do are going When he says in love and war all is fair, he's got cards he ain't showing How much does it cost? I'll buy it! The time is all we've lost--I'll try it! He can't even run his own life, I'll be damned if he'll run mine--sunshine Sunshine, come on back another day, I promise you I'll be singing This old world, she's gonna turn around, brand new bells will be ringing
this was surprisingly good. I vaguely remember this song from my very early childhood. my parents were hippies who worshipped folk music I was immersed in it from a very young age. however this guy sounds very sharp and he's got great confidence I quite enjoyed this BTW kids dancing around at the front where amazing. I am a professional musician and songwriter and a parent. I related to this
I can't imagine playing in front of that audience. They look like they are in the wrong place. I will be seeing Edwards in Rockport, MA in a few days. I am excited.
Geez, how is everyone so dead in the audience? T_T It's probably todays generation in that audience that doesn't get good music. T_T I bet most people agree with me, but If I was there I would of been dancing and singing along! XD
How could ANYONE hear this Classic Song played by the man who wrote it and NOT DANCE AND SING ALONG? ..... "get the f**k up you dead zombie ass holes!"
Horrible Audience! I love this song. Thank you Jonathan for creating it. Thank you for this great performance. :-)
There was a time in America, when good music filled the air waves... This song was one of the best to come out!
What would a childhood be like without this
the guy loves music, loves to perform and welcomes every audience member into the joy that his music and his stage presence elicits.
Brilliant song!
Love this song! The lyrics are so true. Sometimes you get those busy body's who try to run your life yet they can't run their own.
He sang it a bit faster than normal, but still a great song. I saw him live when I was about 13 or 14 years old. He has great humor and style. Legend in my eyes.
I just met him tonight in a hotel in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. A nice gentleman & he signed his business card for me !
The four dislikes are obviously for the crowd.
Valdez,....I agree. It’s like they are dead!!!!
Yea that crowd was horrible.
I'd be dancing in the aisle and singing! Great song and wow, is he still great!
Wow this is a beautiful performance!! What soul in his voice :)
Man I wished of been there. I'd of been dancing and singing all the lyrics!

What a GREAT song. One of my all time favorites.
This was a sort of anthem back in the day lol He still sounds great !!!! Fabulous song !!!
Happiest song I can think of
That's just the kind of audience I'd expect to see in a place called the Loveless Cafe.
The audience should have been ashamed of themselves. He's always been so talented and puts on a good show. They don't have any idea what he's singing about.
Love this song.
awesomeness- more synchronicity- last year I blipped this- same day!!!
Loved this song when i was young. great to hear it again
GREAT SONG...still a GREAT TUNE 2016
These people have no taste. He is AWESOME!!
Sunshine go away today, I don't feel much like dancing
Some man's come he's trying to run my life, don't know what he's asking
When he tells me I better get in line, can't hear what he's saying
When I grow up, I'm gonna make him mine, these ain't dues I been paying
How much does it cost?
I'll buy it!
The time is all we've lost
I'll try it!
He can't even run his own life,
I'll be damned if he'll run mine--sunshine

Great voice, still!
I can't imagine playing in front of that audience. They look like they are in the wrong place. I will be seeing Edwards in Rockport, MA in a few days. I am excited.
This is Depressing as Hell . Where is this? these people have NO CLUE !!
Love his music. Would love to see in person.
Damn, he still gets down!
Fabulous....!!
That guy rocks
Was that an old folks home come on!!!
seems to me that this song is written about the folks in this crowd...
at least the two kids in the front liked it what a stuffy corwd. pure vegetative state
The audience is obviously clueless about Jonathan Edwards' fame and former work.
When ya' got it...!!! ;)
I can't believe he actually forgot the words! Still, he does pretty good for an old man (like me).
sad audience, must be bieber fans..
jeep lead me here
Jonathan cranked the tempo up about 180 beats a minute. Lol
Interesting - he's doing it in a higher key than the original. Usually singers go lower in pitch as the years go by.
Always a cool song & awesome performance but the audience must be sedated
Red forman?!?!
sad....this is a good sing-a-long tune and no one is singing....bunch of "Walking Dead" zombies.
Why are they sitting down? Get your ass up!
I scrolled down to the comments just to make sure people are bashing the crowd. What a bunch of zombies.
Geez, how is everyone so dead in the audience? T_T It's probably todays generation in that audience that doesn't get good music. T_T I bet most people agree with me, but If I was there I would of been dancing and singing along! XD
Nice tone on that Taylor. I think a larger model would be better for him though.
Audience too young.
A roomfull of Appalacians!
How could ANYONE hear this Classic Song played by the man who wrote it and NOT DANCE AND SING ALONG? ..... "get the f**k up you dead zombie ass holes!"
Why sing it so fast? It's better at original tempo.
Audience doesn't know the words...
Different generation. .lol. ,,I'd have been arrested for lewd and lecivious acts. .lol. .jk. ,but I would have been dancing. .grew up on this music
Great tune.....a bit fast, but it's his.....and still good....this audience sucks
Great song! As is often the case, though, the audience-collectively-is lethargic &...clueless.
worst. crowd. ever.
dead folks? geez
I love this song BUT he looks jacked up on something.
Ha ha, look at the funny old man pretending to be hip like us!
break a hip
Crowd needs psychotherapy.
OMG! Wow! You are correct! Worst audience ever!
