I fish and I pan (if I know the claim status of where I am at) and I don't know who is scarier to run across, the miner on a hot streak or the fisherman that is stalking that same fish he has been stalking for years and is sure is in that pool. Either way, it works for me, I just move on because what I am really looking for is a nice place in the sun to nap and daydream the day away.

Gary, I’ve got the answer for your gnat problem. It’s called Buggins. It’s natural with no deet. Try it. Seriously, they don’t like it. The buffalo gnats here in Missouri are terrible certain times of the year and this stuff keeps them away. Good luck!

Thanks for the information on the hand rake with a magnet. Going to make mine this week. Hey All, just remember it is hunting season. I went to hike to a panning site only to realize I have no orange vest or hat. I had to scrap my panning, I didn't feel like playing Bambi. There were a lot of hunters in the woods yesterday.

A really great explanation Gary, JC and I were trying to look at an area and think what would Gary look for and it ended up paying off for both of us lol. We each found a lil chuck with the detector that day. The area feels really similar to me in many ways to this spot, there is channel on the hill, really big stuff and drift mines into it below on the river. We have yet to detect the hillside but I'm thinking there is gold in the fluff possibly like this this location. Gotta get you up there some time to help us understand it better.
