I'm 73 years old and love listening to their music. I was lucky to grow up with their beautiful music. Both of them were awesome. Bobby's unchained Melody was awesome. You need to listen to him sing it on the Andy Williams show in 1965. He's awesome!!!

I listen to them singing this song at least once a day! Their voices blend together so well! Just love them, Unfortunately no duo can sing like this today!
Greatest song, voice, performance goes to Bobby Hatfield, unchained melody, 1965 on Andy Williams show, hands down. It makes a grown man cry !😳 And you are soooo cute girl ❤️
I’ve probably watched reactions to this song in the 40 to 50 times range and it never gets old. I remember it from top gun but never listened to it on my own.
Bill Medley (Tall guy) and Bobby Hatfield (The Ken Doll) are the ones that the term "Blue Eyed Soul" was coined for. People thought they were Black vocalists, until they were on the Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday night in early 1965. What a great vocal duo. A ton of soul.
You hit the nail on the head with the bill and Bobby singing together one hitting the high notes bills hitting the low notes and when they harmonize its perfection! Check out the song Soul Inspiration by them, Little Latin Lupe Lu and Eb Tide!
According to the BMI, this is the most listened to song of the 20th Century and also #1 in the top 100 of the Century! In case some people didn't notice, but this is the "pick-up" song Tom Cruise and "Goose" sung in the movie "Top Gun" . Check out their "Soul and Inspiration" and "Unchained Melody".
So many black folks think that they were black until they see this and they are amazed. I used to sing this to my girlfriend when I was much younger when it played on the radio. This and Unchained Melody. You might want to check out The Intruders "I wanna Know Your Name too. I bet you'll like it too. I used to sing that to an old girlfriend of mine too. I can still remember most of the words too and I'm 68 now.
These two extroardinary men coming together to sing this amazing song in such a unique and special way is nothing short of legendary. As long as quality music is value they will live on. Your reaction expressions and comments are really nice and are spot on how i feel about them as well. great job
If you ever watch the movie Dirty Dancing and remember hearing the song “Time Of Your Life” Bill Medley the one on the tall deep voice is the one who sings it.
Powerful, memorable vocals: Tom Jones “I’ll never fall in love again” and the Animals “house of the rising sun” guaranteed you will be incredibly impressed
That was a very honest and intelligent Reaction Kai. Yes I agree with other comments that you will be amazed at the solo Bobby Hatfield (the tenor) performs in the 1965 Live version of "Unchained Melody". Add "The Andy Williams show" to your search if u would like to hear them briefly joke about why Bobby is singing it solo. Many have called it the best live solo performance ever and the song has been recorded by near 700 performers but most agree Bobby's is near perfect and is the standard all other singers are judged by when they sing it.
@@kailamay2278 "Unchained Melody" from 1965. Only Bobby Hatfield sings on this song. ruclips.net/video/IYj2hex99gY/видео.html You've probably heard this song before....but back then, singers either could sing or they couldn't. There were no autotune to enhance their singing voice. NOTE: According to Bill Medley, Bobby and him adopted the name "The Righteous Brothers" for the duo because black Marines from the El Toro Marine base started calling them "righteous brothers". At the end of a performance, a black U.S. Marine in the audience would shout, "That was righteous, brothers!", and would greet them with "Hey righteous brothers, how you doin'?" on seeing them. Hope you enjoyed my comments. Jim Grant
Bill Medley (baritone) and Bobby Hatfield (tenor) were members of a vocal quintet called The Paramours. When the group broke up, Bill & Bobby continued performing as a duo. They were playing a nightclub in Southern California that was a popular hangout for US marines stationed at a nearby marine base. During one of their songs, a black marine stood up and yelled at the stage, "That was righteous, Brothers!", and the name stuck. They basically invented the genre known as Blue-Eyed Soul. They had a number of hits in the 60s and into the 70s, and have gone down as one of the best American duos of all time. Loving Feeling was not only a number one hit for them, but it was also the most-played song on the radio in the 20th century! Sadly, Bobby passed away, but Bill is still actively performing to this day. Other great songs include You're My Soul and Inspiration (another number one hit that was sort of a sequel to Loving Feeling), Ebb Tide, Unchained Melody (a Bobby solo), Rock & Roll Heaven and Little Latin Lupe Lu.
@@kailamay2278 I got to see them live a few times when I lived in Las Vegas in the mid 90s. Even 30 years after their biggest hits, they still sounded amazing!

I decided to watch this video after catching your beautiful and honest reaction to unchained. Wow that's one incredible soul touching song huh? Unchained Melody. It's a solo effort by Bobby Hatfield, the one with higher voice. It was a top ten hit in the 60s and again in the 80s. Unchained Melody has probably covered by more singers than you can imagine, but the Righteous Brothers did it better than anyone else.
A great song. I vaguely remember this from when I was a little girl. It’s angstful, like that feeling you get from the deadness in a marriage. You’re going through the motions, but it’s not the way it was. Unfortunately, life - especially the super difficult, life-altering events can ruin this most precious and cherished of all things. I know.
Have you ever heard the Shangri-la's? They are a girl group from the early 60's and did Leader of the Pack. I'm old and was raised by really old Grandparents, so my first crushes were on the girl bands of the 60's, as that was what I was exposed too. This Righteous Brothers song is excellent! Good reaction!
always cracks me up, the beginning everyone is loving Bill Medley's voice, and then the song goes to the "bring it on back" phase and everyone LOVES Bobby Hatfields voice. Both are excellent in this song, wasn't this one of the Phil Spector wall of sound songs?
Bill Medley - the guy singing lead on this particular song - did a duet you might have heard before with Jennifer Warnes for the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack, circa 1986 or so. "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."
A great song brilliantly sung. If you like Bobby Hatfield's high notes here, listen to the 1965 live version of "Unchained Melody", unbelievable. Also an interesting little fact here is that one of the backing singers is a young lady called Cher.
Going to agree with a few others. You really should do Unchained Melody. There are a couple of live performances out there on RUclips. It doesn't matter which one you pick. It is a real showcase of Bobby Hatfield's voice. A lot of artists have done it but Hatfield's in my opinion is the best. After you listen to it and react you may want to listen to an indepth analysis by A British Guitarist (Fil of Wings of Pegasus)
Love that song. If you got the chance, please check out another song sang by The Righteous Brothers called "You're my Soul and Inspiration". Thank you very much. God bless you.
Oh! I just thought of a song I think you’d love because you loved the Righteous Brothers’ harmonies so much. More Than Words by Extreme. Gorgeous harmonies, I promise, and I taught music for 20 years so I appreciate some great harmonies.
@Kai Lamay here’s one more with great harmonies. Ritchie Sambora plays lead guitar and sings the high harmonies in this song along with Jon BonJovi. It’s I’ll Be There For You. ruclips.net/video/mh8MIp2FOhc/видео.html
There will never be another couple of decades like the 60’s and 70’s. Being 68, I guess I made be a bit prejudice, but come on! Everyone knows it! 😎👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very true. However, its a two way street. An era where ladies earned their respect not demanded it. Also even if back then someone was "ugly" they took pride in themselves so getting someone to like you wasn't like it is today.
This is all live and just talent. That's back in the day when your voices were either there or not and this is a perfect example. Today - too much auto tuning and adjustments going on. True talent is with the voice and the person as is here. Awesome!
This is a song that should've been in a movie. Perhaps a movie where it's performed in a bar where the lead actor sings it to a pretty girl to get her to go home with him, but she doesn't at first. It's the whole "catch me if you can" romance thing. Hey, y'all don't steal this idea from me. I'm going to a high dollar producer Monday and pitch this idea to him. This is going to be great. Watch for my name in the credits in THE movie of the summer in about 2 years. Shhhhh, mum's the word.
In Denver this was released on New years Eve, 1964 --65.------------------Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield. ----------------written by Jeff Barry , Ellie Greenwich & Phil Spector. ------------Recorded here in LA, AT GOLD STAR STUDIO, produced / arranged, by Phil Spector.------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
You have some songs that you just don't want it to end, at least not yet, this is one of them. I still catch myself saying, "no don't stop" , ur spot on with your reaction, the harmony of these 2 may very well be like the movie title that Jack Nicholson was in "As Good As It Gets", because it's literally 2 great voices blending seamlessly into a single great voice and if ever there was blue eyed soul, you just witnessed it. You can hear it and you can feel it. A lot of covers have been performed to this song, nothing even close to this one. "As Good As It Gets^ l ,again .....
Elvis also did Unchained Melody, Elvis was Elvis, but these guys owned these 2 songs, of course Bobby does Unchained Melody solo, my opinion is he owns it. The live versions of these 2 songs is better than the recorded ones. That's extremely difficult to do , their version is why "You Lost That Loving Feeling" was the most played song on radio and TV in the 20th century. It aired over 8 million times. All I can say is Wow
good to see younger folks realize the talent from the past. I recommend you review your reaction videos and count the number of times you said "like" It gets in the way of your credible observations.
You should give The Crystals a try, one of the girl groups from this same 1960s time period. "Then He Kissed Me" and "Da Doo Ron Ron" are two of their hits. Or the Ronettes "Be My Baby". Or "Runaround Sue" by Dion.
Loved your reaction. Definitely check out their song Unchained Melody. On a different note, here's a couple of amazing live performances for you to check out. Nightwish - Ghost Love Score - live at Wacken 2013... and... Muse - Knights of Cydonia - live at Rome Olympic Stadium. Both very different, and both out of this world amazing. Enjoy!
Another delightfulm performance on RUclips is from the musical West Side story. It is entitled "PLACIDO DOMINGO-ANA MARIA MARTINEZ-'TONIGHT' Duet". Puerto Rican soprano Ana Maria Martinez has made the part of Maria relatable to opera fans.
New subscriber here love your reaction to this one, a couple of good ones to check out are Stevie Ray Vaughan “life without you live at capital theater 1985” Stevie is considered the greatest guitarist of all time and his style is blues, and another great artist is Chris Stapleton he did the cover to whipping post and it’s fire.

If you pay attention to detail, you will notice that at no time during the song do their eyes ever meet. They were to be singing in harmony to a woman as one voice, and definitely NOT to each other! One would assume that it was very important, in those days, that they not seem for even a second to be singing to each other. lol

Bill Medley - the guy singing lead on this particular song - did a duet you might have heard before with Jennifer Warnes for the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack, circa 1986 or so. "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."
I've heard that song before. I had no idea it was Bill Medley.
Let’s face it! They’re best songs are done Live
Maybe , But this performance is lipsynced , It's the studio version.
A great song brilliantly sung. If you like Bobby Hatfield's high notes here, listen to the 1965 live version of "Unchained Melody", unbelievable. Also an interesting little fact here is that one of the backing singers is a young lady called Cher.
I cant wait to hear Unchained Melody! A lot of people are suggesting it. I'm excited.
@@kailamay2278 it is worth it. Make sure it is the live version where Bobby wears a pink suit!!
It must be an awesome song!! I excited to hear it!
Love that song. If you got the chance, please check out another song sang by The Righteous Brothers called "You're my Soul and Inspiration". Thank you very much. God bless you.
Thanks love! I will listen to anything by The Righteous Brothers!!!!!!
Oh! I just thought of a song I think you’d love because you loved the Righteous Brothers’ harmonies so much. More Than Words by Extreme. Gorgeous harmonies, I promise, and I taught music for 20 years so I appreciate some great harmonies.
Thanks for the suggestion. I love harmonies
@Kai Lamay it would totally make my day if you did it! ❤️🎶❤️🎵❤️
@Kai Lamay here’s one more with great harmonies. Ritchie Sambora plays lead guitar and sings the high harmonies in this song along with Jon BonJovi. It’s I’ll Be There For You. ruclips.net/video/mh8MIp2FOhc/видео.html
Bobby passed away in 2003. But his legacy will always live on forever in the heart's of millions from now on until the end of time.
This song was in the movie'Ghost' in 1990.
You have a beautiful smile 🥰
There will never be another couple of decades like the 60’s and 70’s. Being 68, I guess I made be a bit prejudice, but come on! Everyone knows it! 😎👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I agree and I'm hitting 60 this year. Although the 80's weren't bad either. We still had epic groups like Queen and Journey then.
Back when men sang TO women not AT them.
🙌
@@Great-Documentaries I grew up with them. They had NO trouble with the ladies lol.
They also sang about love, not hooking up.
@@_Coffee4Closers preach !
LMAO!! It deserves to be in many a movie! I wonder if it was in any older movies from the time.
@@kailamay2278
Just making sure, you did get the joke right?
Top shelf stuff.
No auto-tune!
your enthusiasm is infectious!
Thanks love! Sorry for the late reply
What an amazing song!!!!!
Listen to the second singer lead on “Unchained Melody” by them
You have some songs that you just don't want it to end, at least not yet, this is one of them.
I heard Elvis sang this song too! I want to check out his version too but this version is sooooo good.
All I can say is
Wow
Working at Disneyland I got to see the righteous brothers perform on the tomorrowland stage long long time ago.
Thats awesome!
good to see younger folks realize the talent from the past. I recommend you review your reaction videos and count the number of times you said "like" It gets in the way of your credible observations.
On their early recordings one of their back up singers was a teenage girl named Cher. Wonder what happened to her😎
...I think you know 😊
You should give The Crystals a try, one of the girl groups from this same 1960s time period. "Then He Kissed Me" and "Da Doo Ron Ron" are two of their hits. Or the Ronettes "Be My Baby". Or "Runaround Sue" by Dion.
Thanks love. I love discovering new music. I'll add them to my list ❤
My first time seeing you react , great job
Thank you! 😃
Enjoy!
Thanks love! I love hearing music I haven't heard before.
Roy Orbison Oh pretty woman & ABBA Dancing queen
Thank you Expose Seasons Change
Another delightfulm performance on RUclips is from the musical West Side story. It is entitled "PLACIDO DOMINGO-ANA MARIA MARTINEZ-'TONIGHT' Duet". Puerto Rican soprano Ana Maria Martinez has made the part of Maria relatable to opera fans.
You just have to check out the beautiful version of "You'll never walk alone by Righteous Brothers.
Thanks! I definitely want to hear more from them.
Thank you so much love!!!
Fun fact: Cher is one of the backup singers.
That's awesome!
Danggggg...after hearing it 1 million and 1 times, didn't know that tid bit
Phil Spector,if your were available you sing, one of Phil Spector hits sonny Bono was on castanets if available help
So iconic , try unchained melody live also another great singer Tom Jones ill never fall in love again live 1967
G’day mate, yeah I agree 100% dude. The Righteous Bros. Were just so righteous. This song a classic. Should be protected by the National Trust Of America. 🤪😁 Don’t know how that would work. I’m so freakin happy I’m 56 years old mate. Best time for real music were the 60s and70s.Saw ABBA live when they gigged around OZ. Saw David Cassidy live. Saw Leif Garrett live. Just to name a few. Hey Would you consider reacting to som Aussie Rock? Suggest Jimmy Barnes’ smash hit Working Class Man. Reckon you’ll like it.Stay happy dude.👍🇦🇺😁🤪☮️
Thanks love, I like hearing songs I haven't heard before.
If you pay attention to detail, you will notice that at no time during the song do their eyes ever meet.
They were to be singing in harmony to a woman as one voice, and definitely NOT to each other!
One would assume that it was very important, in those days, that they not seem for even a second to be singing to each other. lol
I didn't even catch that! That makes the harmonies even more impressive.
Please do Elvis live in Vegas 1970 SUSPICIOUS MINDS and POLK SALAD ANNE they are two of the greatest live performances ever done I PROMISE you won’t be disappointed you’ve never seen anything like it before or since
Don't forget "How great thou art" from his 1972 live concert
