As someone born in the late 1950's, like many, I have had the opportunity to be around to hear the birth, growth, and sometimes decline of so many genres of music. For me, besides the great classical music of the past centuries, the greatest music has been that of the 1950's through the 1980's. So much of that music was created out of the hearts of the musicians and songwriters, and much of it is genuine, timeless, and beautiful. There has certainly been some good music created after that, but so much of it today is just canned, formulaic, and meant to sell, rather than coming from the soul of the artist.
It's good to see that the younger generations are looking back and discovering some of the best music ever created and performed from their parents and grandparents generations. It gives us depth and helps us all to understand the times the music was created in. Enjoy the journey and the discovery.

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on a piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century
"Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance.
Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers.
In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

@@bdoeden64 While I posted a comment the other day about Bobby and Billy, and mentioned several other male vocalists that were on my mom’s “playlist” during my formative years in the late ‘50s - early ‘60s - mostly in the crooner/jazz idiom - I think nominating or compiling a list of “greatest” of anything is a bit of a fool’s errand. Paul Robeson, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Joe Williams, Gregory Porter, Billy Eckstine, Freddy Mercury, etc are the first few names that pop into mind who have equally impressive catalogs. Now, having a great natural vocal gift doesn’t necessarily make for a talented singer, or admirable human being.
This was a wonderful performance for sure, and they may well have been delightful people, but I think to declare this the best live vocal ever is myopic at best.

I stumbled across your reaction to Tom Jones and looked at others you have done. I commented about David Blunt getting you emotional in Monster, only to find out you had reviewed it already. I like your posts keep posting. I need to get round to looking at all of your list of videos to track down the Blunt, Monster reaction.

I was born in the 60s and most of my influence comes from the 50s, 69s and 70s. Music influence your behavior. Since dancehall and rap the emotions of us women have changed from been kind and gentle to frustration, masculine aggression. I have never seen a time as this and we need to bring back these beautiful music so it can have a positive energy on this generation.

Remember, prior to 2000 except for instrument inhalers, there was nothing to alter the voice. If something was done vocally, there was only your voice.

Sixty years on, and Bobby Hatfield still gets 'em wet.
But let's be honest here - he could've been singing the recipe for potatoes au gratin, and had the same effect.

He was the male Karen Carpenter. Interesting fact. He had to register his voice as a potential weapon. He could make womens knickers explode with barely any effort.
