I was just wondering the other night whether I could get away with cutting it and reshaping it, and this video confirms I can, thanks!

Let's not forget to use anti rust to wipe down that cut afterwards.

This is the way to treat customers, If this had gone into a Mercedes dealer they would have changed everything they possibly could including every nut or bolt , their goal is to make the bill as high as possible but on the plus side you may get a FREE coffee.

Just been looking at the rear handbrake on My ClK .It needs new discs pads and backing. Was thinking of doing the same .Why they didn't make them like this in the factory ie beyond me

Cutting the backing plate like that creates corrosion weakness points. Have you considered applying a rust preventing coating on these cuts?

Great observation! Yes, we would prime the exposed bare metal, touch it up with paint, and apply the seem sealer.

Is that very hard to fit the shield in just one cut. Or is that possible to cut them in half

@@sc225 you definitely could put 2 cuts in it, if so make sure it's between the fixings and paint the edges with anti rust paint, also put some panel bond in-between the cuts so you don't get any rattles

It should work the same way

It will rust in 3 years because the metal is not protected!
