Then the country eventually ran out of money, he followed all the US orders in Iraq like a dog, and now he's probably even more hated than Thatcher. But what did we expect? If Tories do something wrong, Labour will do ten times worse. I don't make the rules.

      Drinking milk every day increases your risk of prostate cancer by 3 times, and your risk of ovarian cancer by 2 times. Milk does not make your bones stronger, it actually helps to weaken them especially at a young age.
      Kids should be drinking water, not milk, and if parents want their children to have milk they should pay for it themselves. It's not the taxpayers duty to provide people with free luxury goods. Aside from the fact that all the people crying about "milk snatcher" would now be crying about the mass animal welfare abuses needed to provide free milk to every child in the uk every day for free.

      Aristides: Remarkable? Do you have any idea of the pain and suffering she inflicted, by her selfish politics, but you feel qualified to praise this Devil's daughter. You can't have been living in the UK 79-90 to experience it. But you dismiss and insult all who suffered (most of the population) by heaping praise on her. Check out the unemployment figures in the early 80s.
      Check out how many communities were left devastated by her attack on the NUM
      Check out how many manufacturing businesses closed during her time
      Check out the amount of tax cuts she handed out to the rich
      Check out how much she stole from the public by selling government properties and not re-building, causing the current housing crisis
      or how much the tax payer lost by the sale of industries such as BT.
      You really don't have a clue, do you?
      Keep reading the Daily Mail or the Daily Express.
      That's about as high as your consciousness gets
      Sad
      Really sad that her lies and propaganda machine still works well three years after she died.

Thatcher seems to not want this to occur, because she fears the group will give all powers of regulating currency to a central bank. Which could print as much money or change the prime interest rate however they want. This would seriously transfer wealth into the hands of a few, and reduce the rates of returns for savers. (Middle class to upper middle class). Which is what is happening in the USA, with ZIRP and QE. +lblythe01 The EU is governed by the European parliment a democratically elected body, if you want you can vote for it. The commision is choosen by member states all of wich have been elected by the people, and all commisioners are approved by the Parliment. Furthemore the parliment cannot decide anything without the consent of the council of ministers wich are directly choosen by the governments of the member states. Their is no unelected dictator their is no conspiracy. Their is only democracy.
      The EU has never once engaged in a millitary conflict, it has never killed anyone it has never imposed on indivual rights without the consent of the elected representetives of the European people. This month their was a referendum in Denmark to decide wether to repel one of the opt outs, would an evil dictatorship really allow the people to fuck up its plans like this? no it would not, yes the ultimate goal is unity and had the EU been as authoritarian as you think we would be there already.
      The EU is the greatest experimant in democracy and unity in all of European history yes they will make mistakes, but that does not make them dictators, it simply makes them human.

    • @Mannskill
      @Mannskill 8 лет назад +17

      +marvin van zon No it's not, the European Parliament doesn't have any legislative power, or at least it doesn't have the initiative to enact law and only shares with the Council the ability to approve some of the laws, let alone executive power which is exerced by the European Commission. It doesn't have any power and basically serves only as a democratic alibi.
      And the Commission is indeed a non-elected body and the fact that national governments have a say on its composition doesn't mean that it has any democratic legitimacy either. At the end they don't have any say in the way the Commission conducts its policy.
      As for referendums, when the Irish voted against the Nice Treaty in 2001 and against the Lisbon Treaty in 2008, the EC decided to impose another one so they could vote right this time. When the French and the Dutch voted against an European Constitution in 2005, they imposed the Lisbon Treaty which established the same things as an European constitution would have. So no the Commission couldn't care less about referendums.
      And your so-called 'unity' is imposed by the Commission and Germany so they can fulfill their own agenda at the expense of the others member states, not really a thing to be proud of.

    Why is it 'cool' for most brits to hate Thatcher?
    Ah I know, its blind ignorance from the POMS! (Poor old me's)
    She was one of the best and strong leaders England has ever had, and most of her policies were for the good of the country and not to try and please everyone like a career politician would do. The unions had to be stood up to. If the unions decided the workers should have a longer tea break there would be a strike out of the blue no notice.. tools down.. "lets go lads.." numpties!. The unions were set up to protect workers rights against greedy businessman but it got waay waaay out of hand. This is the reason the mining industry was shut down and state owned companies were privatized, nobody wanted to work even though they were getting a great wage.

    • @bicepius
      @bicepius 10 лет назад +2

      ***** I meant to say UK, but never mind. There was a legislation passed eventually that prevented the unions from organizing a strike almost instantly, I think they have to give plenty of notice now. The thing is most ship builders and miners were getting a great wage for the time in Scotland, pay could not keep going up and up and hours reduced less and less. I wish people would just keep there head down work hard and be content and maybe she would not have been forced to sell off the industry's. Poll tax was harsh I agree, but it would of definitely sorted out the immigration problem we have today.

      Sadly, and she was right. Giving more power to EU only lead to more tools for Brussels to pressure member countries to its will. Look at how von der Leyen kept delaying COVID relieve packages to countries she deemed out-of-line. Packages financed by debt serviced by all EU members indscriminatorily btw. Even by those that didn't get any funds.

    The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were among the final guests to arrive for Baroness Thatcher's funeral. They got to St Paul's Cathedral around fifteen minutes before the service was due to begin at 11am. The National Anthem was played by the Band of the Welsh Guards as the Queen's car arrived at the cathedral's entrance. It is the first time the monarch has attended the funeral service of a former prime minister since Sir Winston Churchill's state ceremony in 1965. Report by Sophie Foster.

      @@declanwallace8995 The mines were closed because coal was cheaper to import, Scargill didn't like that. What's the point in digging up coal for no one to use? The NUM caused Thatcher to react because Scargill was holding the country to ransom with blockades of power stations etc. Liebour did nothing to sort Scargill out so in stepped Thatcher. You obviously have forgotten the power cuts and three day working week that resulted in Scargill's actions. Only families who had connections with the coal industry agreed with Scargill. It adversely affected everyone else, and yes, I am from Yorkshire but agreed with Thatcher. Scargill was just another communist, just like Corbynov. God help us if Corbyn ever gets the keys to No. 10.
