@@kjdinoc Mrs. Thatcher (later Baroness) literally ripped the British people -- many kicking and screaming --- from the Socialist chains that had enslaved them since the end of WWII. {The TUC and others were strong links in those chains, and she broke them. Not surprisingly, an online search has nothing on how destructive and debilitating they were to what could have been a vibrant economy. It's all how wonderful the trade unions are, and Unionism in general 🤮.} I worked with a British guy once who said Mrs. Thatcher took milk away from babies. I said: Gee, I thought it was the parents' job to provide milk to their babies. He gave me that look lefties do when they know you're right, and have no response 😁. i agree, as she once said, 'sometimes you have to take the medicine to make you better, it may taste bad but you still have to take it' Britain today has a lot to thank Baroness Thatcher for, if not for her we would have declined so much we'd be at the same significance as Spain or Portugal or less. It's about respect. It's about understanding how one person can change the world. Now that person could be you or someone you love, hate not know. but respect can go a long way and acting like a bunch of disgraceful thugs is not necessarily the way forward. Shit happened before then and after. Every person has imperfections. Understand that. Kind Regards.

As a kid of the 80'ies, living under a very very harsh communist regime, I remember Thatcher was always demonized by the press. And yet, I admired her so much she became my idol, my role model, though I never dared to say it out loud. In 1991 communism fell, and how I would have wished for the great lady to lead my country! Rest in peace madam, the hundreds of millions who had the misfortune to live under communism and socialism, love, respect and adore you. You are so sorely missed in the world today

St.George WilliamOfOrange Gibbs You do understand the north of the country is traditionaly the working class hub of England, and when you inclued scotland and wales and the midlands is pretty much well over half of the UK. She destroyed our localised economies in a politisiced decision to take down the unions, it was absolutley nothing to do with the economy of the mines. Look up "the ridley report" it details war like tactics of how a conservative goverment can defeat the unions and is what Thatcher ruthlessly enforced. The whole reason was to change Britain from a industrial nation to a financial service nation - The north of England never recovered and never prospered from the financial market in central London. Today our tax money is activley sucked out of our communities and poured into a corrupt financial system while we face mass unemployment and deluded conservatives who think "lazyness" is the problem... matskje How exactly did she benefit Barnsley? people say this but the fact of the matter is if your from the north you never benefited from Thatchers neoliberal policeys...

Bobby Sands and his fellow strikers could have called off their protest at any point if they had wished to survive. I have heard that Sands was only convicted of arms possession and so didn't deserve the harsh conditions and prison work faced by all inmates since the ending of Special status for paramilitary prisoners. While I accept that this is true, and so it is arguable that he and the other strikers were justified in their protest, does it not seem a bit pointless to die for the sake of a few added rights/privileges such as not wearing prison clothes?
