Twitter and gamers having live service rot? Never. Anyway, this is what happens when games that don't have exploitative consumer practices exist.

They did warn their playerbase that the next big updates would take a moment to be done. They even told their playerbase "Play lots of games, try different genres, and frequently flick through indie libraries to find hidden gems".
I'm sure a whole lot of their playerbase will come back when there's a big enough update to be worth spending more days and weeks. The latest update is on the right track, with the new Raid boss, the Arena mode and more! But there's a whole new map coming too...
Basically the same as Genshin impact. Before Inazuma, the game slowed down a whole lot.. Then Inazuma came in, it got everyone excited! ... then it slowed down again... The Chasm wasn't a big enough update, so player stayed put.. until Sumeru came in, then they came back in drove!

YEAH! I think this is such a normal and imo, very healthy thing. Apart from developing a game and adding new stuff to it taking a lot of effort and time, it's only normal for players not to play a game all the time.
Lastly, I really appriciate their stance as devs behind the game.
Wish you a lovely day, friend!

@@HopeeStudios They've shown themselves to be pretty decent devs. I do encourage everyone I know to at least give the game a try. it went from being a "Pokemon clone" to being a whole lot more fun than pokemon, in my opinion! :)

Loving Palworld, kinda wish the late game wasn't such a grind though. I think the mistake is that base progression is tied to player level, which is tied to getting experience... which the only current way to do that meaningfully is to capture 12 of every single pal in the game to get those recapture exp bonuses. It's like if you played pokemon and instead of battling trainers for exp, you had to go out in the grass and catch 300 butterfree. It's just extremely tedious for no reason. I have faith that the devs will address this at some point though. They seem to be pretty good at taking player feedback and making the game better.

Yeah I noticed that as well, I'm at a very early stage of the game but I find myself going out to catch pals when needed the exp... It's not like a big problem for me but would love to have some different viable options too :) Wish you a lovely week friend

Don't forget the fact that if you join off your friends you need to restart from scratch. In minecraft, progression is based off of gear, not xp, while in terraria or valheim, where gear is more grindy and there are secondary stats like health and mana, you can bring characters across worlds meaning you can progress in your world while your friend progresses in his.

It's soooo much fun, it hooked me within first 10 minutes. Tho I'm not sure about the number, I was already 6 hours in when I realised I was hooked to the depths 😭😭😭

So what is going on is that many people don't really play games for the game itself. Yea it is great if the game is fun but that is not why they are playing. They are playing for the social aspect. Both inside the game and outside the game. They want to be talking about the popular game. And they want to be paying it with all the other people who are playing it. And as soon as it is more popular to not play the game they stop playing it to.
They don't want to play the game. They want to be part of the group. They want the experience of being part of the new popular thing. So they don't ask 'Is the game good". They instead ask "Who is playing the game". That is why they care about numbers.
Sorry if my explanation is a bit messy. I'm not good at this kind of thing.

I think you have a good point! I can see many people doing stuff for the social aspect of it. I generally slack behind a bit when it comes to new and popular stuff, I think enjoying something with everybody else is also a fun thing, I for example love theorising stuff about the shows I watch weekly with my friends. But I'd hate to watch something purely to be a part of the group. That would take away aaaall the fun in my eyes 🙂 Wish you a lovely week dude
