Can you do more of these videos? I love these kind of laoshu and xiaoma type videos interacting with people in public. There's a reason these videos are so popular because they are so fun to watch!
Nice video, only just discovered this. One this I have to say as a Brit, when watching when the lady in the seccond part explaining how Cantonese was different and more difficult, she had a point, but when she used 'Cherry' as an example, I kinda smiled. The Mandarin name was very different, but the Cantonese word - Chelo Ji (or however it is spelled in the Roman alphabet) was clearly taken from the English word Cherry and probably due to the time when us Brits were in control of Hong Kong with most Cantonese speakers. If you know English, that would be easy to remember and never forget, so not that hard. I got her point though, but in a way she was making it easier to learn
Lots of English loan words in Hong Kong Cantonese. Guangzhou Cantonese not as much due to different government back then, but I think most of them can understand and sometimes will adopt similar vocabulary.
Upload 10 more of these and you'll be at 100k subscribers. Congrats on the mastery and the discipline (I'm sure) required to obtain the language. I run a languge exchange program for Black English learners trying to learn Spanish and Black Spanish speakers trying to learn English. Would you be open to an interview on best practices for language acqusition? Thanks for reading.
hey bro you are amazing!! I am also a language learner from the Caribbean Trinidad and Tobago!! I am learning Portuguese, Spanish .... French and a lil German I have started Chinese on duolingo but it's kind of difficult!! you have just give me more inspiration to start again!! you remind me of Laoushu!!! may be when I get better at Portuguese which is my favorite I will do that same as you!!
You're so awesome dude, I hope you keep on doing videos like this, you will get 10k then 100k+ subs easily! This kind of content is super interesting to lots of people! And you have a great charisma and no awkwardness, just a kind soul =)
Awesome content man! Wow, so many languages under your belt. That's some dedication. The interesting thing about hearing the waitress compare "cherry" in Mandarin and Cantonese, is that the Cantonese version absolutely sounds like an English load word. I wasn't expecting to hear that.
