you have to silicone the corners around the cam caps on both ends for the valve cover gasket, they almost always leak.
Facts every one l replace gets silicone on the cam corners

Can say for sure Griots degreaser works absolute magic, cleaned my power steering rack and fluid reservoir that had years of built up grime in one coat and a quick hose down
You're still supposed to use a dab of gasket sealant on the B series valve cover in the corners of the cam caps, this is how they are from the factory and can leak without this

Armor all wheel cleaner works wonders! I just sprayed it on my Trans/motor let it sit a few minutes then pressure washed it and it looks brand new, it was super dirty to so that's my go to

A1 punch. Sold in Brisbane Australia. You can dilute the acid . Or use it raw. And it will take every bit of dirt and grime from all motors. All alloys will foam up . Hit it with a wide pressure rinse and it's new. Get Luke to sorce it . . It's out near archifild race way

"Hogs" is the answer to "What even causes this". They root through soggy ground for food, when it dries it looks like that. I saw those Surron bikes in Chelsea's RTR shop tour, was wondering what they were like to ride. Wish granted, ha!
WD-40 and scotch-brite pads are great for cleaning aluminium and removing some of the oxidation and grime.
