This is, by far, my favorite channel on RUclips. Your reviews are not only informative they are an education in hotel design and management (do you have a background in the hotel industry?). In a strange way, you anticipate my questions or echo my observations in your narrative as you do the walkthrough. (I'm not sure if I like the sound of clicking but it's something I'll ponder today 🤣 ).
Thanks very much for that. My background is actually in F&B, but have just always been obsessed with traveling. I’m actually planning to put a video out probably in late august that more or less explains how I look at hotels and the industry in general- and why I started and am sticking with the channel full time now- the video inspired by my first ever hotel getting a perfect 100/100. Bit of a 💡moment. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Beautiful hotel . Fabulous rooms . Breakfast delicious. We were the first couple to stay for one month . At the end of the month only 3 staff members recognised us . Very impersonal
Thanks for moving the banners over to the side when showcasing the food. Great clarity to the video and was shocked to see that they used scotch tape to seal the bottles in the shower. They could of used stone or acrylic instead of plastic for the containers. At least they didn't use instant coffee in the mini bar station! I do have to say that the tile work in the bathroom was well done and I liked the over mounted stone sinks. The gardens were top notch and well taken care of. Too bad that the beach is dangerous to swim at but the sunrise was gorgeous. I appreciate all the hard work you do to make these videos and it shows! Keep it up!
Hi Kevin, my husband and I just got home from our Bali trip which included 5 nights at Andaz Bali in their Garden Pool Villa. The room was outstanding! Some points of service that left us wanting were: - we had laundry done from an outside service and delivered to the hotel, the bell desk sent us a message that it could not be delivered to the room for health and safety reasons. I don’t really feel this aligned with their level of service. - the beach lounges were heavily monitored to ensure use by guests only, rightly so. But there appeared to be some odd scripting around ensuring this was the case. Staff would ask if we needed a towel and when we said no, they would proceed to ask our room number. I feel like a much more transparent “to ensure our facilities are available for our guests, can you please confirm your room number” approach is much more professional. This towel dance happened so frequently on our last day I said to my husband we should have just got t shirt printed saying we’re staying in room ****”. The interaction just felt disingenuous. Our highlights were: - our immaculate room and the attention to detail from housekeeping staff - the breakfast! - the calm vibe - free bike rental I have no hesitation in recommending anyone to stay here. Side note: at check out I handed back our key envelope with both keys and she left us keep it all as a momento 😍
Strange experience with the chairs for sure. Otherwise, I agree it’s a great property and have already filmed a 2nd video for the place. Thanks for watching 🩴
Looks very similar to Andaz Pattaya. I stayed there last year and I am returning next week. Andaz Pattaya is very nice . The grounds were very lush. But the beach is not the best. And for some reason they put a high end restaurant beach side. So very limited on smaller options beachside unless you want crab or lobster for lunch. Actually was looking at Andaz Bali and Hyatt Regency Bali to do a two week trip and hook in some suite upgrade awards but the girl I’m traveling with would rather go back to Thailand. We are doing Andaz Pattaya for a week and then the Aleenta Hotel in Hua Hin. Good work on the video. Nice camera work and editing.
Hi Kevin. I just found your channel and am totallllly obsessed with it! Your hotel reviews are detailed, helpful, and quite enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing and keep up the excellent work! 👏
Thank you for the honest review, wherein you covered everything, including “warts“, of this hotel. Honestly, it’s not “the best“ Bali resort! That ”?” you had tacked onto the video’s title is well deserved. But again, thanks for pointing out all the good points and the not so nice points about this new resort. By the way, thanks for pointing out the fan noise noted below your room. As a light sleeper, I’d want to avoid that sort of noise situation. Is that fan noise noticed even when the outside door or window is closed? Thank you, again!
The noise would only come from the entry door area, so whether or not the balcony door is closed doesn’t matter, but when the fan is on, yes you can hear it even with the door closed. Actually, you can kind of feel it too. It was off well before I went to sleep which is why I didn’t make a fuss about it. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Nice video! Great point about the hospitality style there. Your experience reminded me of the time when I was staying next door at Hyatt Regency Bali in 2019 right before COVID hit and Andaz would be opening soon, we were just walking in the garden and chilling basically, and a local staff walked by and started this whole conversation about Andaz and turned out he was an engineer for the property, and he showed us a bit on the site when it was still construction everywhere. I mean I don’t think my encountered was planned or rehearsed but seems like it’s almost “their thing” to be genuine and give an extra personal touch to things.
Looks amazing! I’m here just binging on your Indonesia hotel review. I already watched them last year. I’m watching again because I will be traveling to Indonesia for Christmas. ❤ You are a no-bullsh!tter when reviewing. I love that about you. Please don’t change. ❤
Though i have not been to other parts of Bali, I have been to Nusa Dua twice. I like the beach right in front of Grand Hyatt. The sand is fine and beach is very gentle sloping. I don't fancy swimming in the sea but I really appreciate scenery which Bali has loads to offer.
Great video. Was umm'ing and aaah'ing about booking this resort for our trip in September - you 100% pushed me over the edge. Very excited, thanks for your great videos. I love the format and your voice is not annoying at all :)
No, I didn’t. If you’re on the fence about it I’d say go for Andaz simply because Andaz guests can utilize the Hyatt facilities, but not sure if the reverse is true as well. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I discovered your channel few days ago and watched like 25 videos already. Absolutely fantastic hotels reviews, best I watched on youtube. Fabulous video editing. Thank you for a great job 👏 I am planning a special trip to Bali and booked my Ubud hotels yet but I am still undecided which beachfront to choose with 3 year old daughter. Which one would you recommend based on your experience? I was thinking about Intercontinental after watching your video but we are not a fans of big resorts. Is it crowded there? Hotel grounds and beach though looks gorgeous
Hi Kevin, I love the quality and detailed content of your videos. In my opinion, the best review channel on you tube! I’m interested in knowing what camera gear you are using and what frame rate you’re shooting. Thank you so much for your reviews.
Thanks very much. I shoot most footage on iPhones in 4K60 but I have quite a bit of equipment that I travel with each with it's own use. You can check out the full list here: www.amazon.com/shop/theflipfloptraveller
The early morning sequence was excellent!! You certainly nailed the beauty of this time of day, and editing was on point. I hear what you mean about the reception situation. Just stick to a regular desk. Personally, the rooms didn't have any "wow" factor, in my opinion. The balconies make up for that, though, but the exhaust fan and clicking of the sensor would have driven me nuts because lm a light sleeper. (Why didn't you ask for a room swap away from the restaurant?). The "free" mini bar was pitiful, having stayed in hotels with all-inclusive mini bar (Hyatt, Sofitel) that had a well stocked selection of mini spirits, soft drink mixers as well as half bottles of red, white and sparkling wines and the usual cookies, chocolate bars, Crisps etc l think l would have just laughed at this and an off brand cola 😫. I tried on this one, and your video certainly gave us the full immersive experience, but l don't get the hype. Price point ✅️ lush garden oasis ✅️ a la carte breakfast menu ✅️ pools ✅️. Thanks for another great review 👍
I’m not sure how this’ll sound… but when I travel, the thing I truly hate to do the most is… complain… ( unless it’s REALLY necessary ). When the guy that’s filming everything complains, the filming is all the staff can then focus on and what you get is a whole lot of pandering, which I loathe. So, I took my restaurant view with (mild) pleasure 😂
Good work Andaz. The rooms look very roomy and nice. Thank you again Kevin for accurate and well covered review. I m sure more and more people will find your channel and blogs in the years to come👍. Like many others we will definitely make use of your recommendations when chose hotels, especiaaly in Asians destinations. Also waiting for your review and analysis on hospitality biz ✌️.
The analysis videos are delayed a bit while I frantically edit and prepare for my next trip coming very soon. But they’ll come eventually! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I really enjoy your reviews including this one. You answer many questions I would have before deciding to book. Two suggestions please: (1) can you not show the other room categories for those not wanting to book the basic standard room. (2) Can you comment on how are the bugs (mosquitoes)? Thanks again.
Ok that was a really good review and not sure why it popped into my stream ( maybe because I have stayed at Andaz in Hollywood and they are looking into my phone again ha ha ) but have subscribed and will check out your other videos. Was wondering if you would consider mentioning whether the pools in your reviews were salt water or chlorine as I am hoping more new hotels offer salt water. Anyway thanks and good luck with your new career.
If a pool I come across is salt water, I’ll be sure to call something like that out- but to my knowledge in the 90+ hotels/resorts I’ve been to in the last two years, none were salt water. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft Yes I understand and my mate owns a luxury booking site and I keep asking the same question and he just says to stop dating blondes. Ha off to Thailand next so should be ok there. Hi Kevin, my fiancé and I recently found your videos. We both think they are incredible! We are thinking of going to Bali for our honeymoon and was wondering from your videos if you could recommend your favorite hotel in the jungle and by the ocean. Thanks so much! Mike

@tfft Thank you for your detailed videos. I've watched them each multiple times. I am planning a trip to Bali for 3 nights, and currently torn between Andaz Bali and Apurva Kempinski. Any advice? (2 adults 1 toddler) Thanks in advance Kevin.
Thanks very much for that. I didn’t get to a Four Seasons in Bali on this trip (but I’ll be at the one in Jakarta in a couple weeks…) but I’m sure I’ll get there at some point next year. For Aman, I’m sure I’ll get to one of them someday but when I choose a hotel I really want the experience to be “worth” the the price that they are asking. While I’m sure Aman provides legendary experiences, it’s hard for me to justify $1500++/night in Southeast Asia when there are hundreds of other breathtaking properties for a fraction of the price. Perhaps when I hit 100k subs 😂 Thanks very much for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft Yeah I get that with Aman, they are crazy expensive especially for what else is available in the area. I also wonder whether they are worth the price tag having never stayed in an Aman.
Yes, in fact their property in Vietnam Amanoi is the only one who’s rates I’d been tracking since I could always just pop up there if there was ever a last minute deal (a deal at Aman, 😂). Prior to Covid there rate range was always $750-$1050 for their cheapest category villa. During Covid though they raised the price to a cool $1600 per night for the same villa and now the price floats between $850-$1400. At properties like this in Vietnam the staff already all live on site and at the time Vietnam did not have any sort of domestic travel restrictions. Was a straight revenue grab. Not a fan of tactics like that.
Thank you for the review, this hotel seems a bit similar with my last hotel that i stayed. It was in alila hotel seminyak The room was dirty and noisy . W hotel slightly better
I’m surprised to hear it about Alila. I’ve never been to that property but had a fantastic stay at the Alila Ubud. A shame about Seminyak. Glad you enjoyed the W though! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Ever since Andaz Sg, I am swearing off Andaz. To me, it looked just a cleverer way of offering less in the name of hip or lifestyle (i.e. standing check in and no food on offer in the lounge) Anyway this one looked very different than the Andaz I experienced. BTW would it be possible to get more detailed description of that French toast? I invested in a small cafe here and hope to learn few tricks. Thanks!!
I’ve had ok, below average and horrible experiences at many hotel brands that I continue to goto (different locations). The double edge sort of not being consistent is there are still some gems to find along the way. For the French toast, the full breakfast menu with descriptions is in the video. Or did you mean my own tasting notes? 😂 I’ll say for sure it was not real French toast. More like a sweet hush puppy (like a denser more bread like donut) with the toppings which were exactly as described in the menu. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
The Bali (and Lombok) Oberoi are both on my list, but both had unfavorable pricing when I was planning the trip. I have a simple rule that I will normally only book refundable rates, but I rule out the hotel if they are charging over a 20% premium for the rate (vs. comparable non-refundable rate) and in this regard both hotels failed spectacularly 😂. I think the Bali property was around 60% more for a refundable rate which is bananas. Definitively trying to get to an Oberoi soon though, I'm guessing it'll end up being in India first. Thanks for watching 🙏
I believe there was meant to be in the coffee shop that I mentioned based on the setup there but it wasn’t specifically mentioned when being given the tour at checkin (they referred to it as a coffee shop). Sorry I can’t comment more definitively about it. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Very helpful. So if I am just booking a base room, is there also a chance they give me one that is on top of village square? Ie. noisier / less privacy, or that happens only to the king deluxe rooms..
Honestly have no idea why multiple people keep asking me to make a “Part 2” video of the Four Seasons Jakarta. I already have a video of it on the channel.
Kevin, Your viewers know you well enough by now to wonder why you didn't request a room change. We've seen you do it often enough. You might have commented on your thinking in the video. 9 Bali resorts? Gracious. I hope you keep the reviews of the mediocre or lesser properties short . . .
Happy to say there weren’t really any mediocre properties on this trip. As for changing rooms, it’s generally the last thing I want to do and I only think about that route when there’s something wrong with the room (damage/dirty) or when the room doesn’t match the description in a major way. As for this room, it was just more of a preference of mine. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Hi Kevin, i am unable to view your other videos from Bali and it mentioned videos are hidden, could you please unhide it? Not to forget your video is super informative and i visited Kimpton Malai in BKK after watching your video
The other videos have not been released yet. Some of them are uploaded already (private until released) which is why the playlist is active but the content is hidden, a strange quirk of RUclips. All of my Bali videos will be published between now and 25/08. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft cool i just saw that in your description. Can’t wait for your remaining videos in Bali. Just 1 suggestion, maybe you can release a small series or sub channel that introduces your itinerary in the country besides from just making hotel reviews, i believe it will attract more viewers with such a high standard quality from your videos. Cheers !
I’m sorry I’m not sure I know exactly what you mean by videos about the itinerary. Do you mean other videos about the area (food, sights, culture, etc.) that the hotel is in?
Sure I understand it. I considered something like this around a year ago but just felt there was so much content about food already so decided to go the way of my other two (new) channels linked in the video description. With those 3 channels, my plate is full 😂
Hello Kevine!!! I’ll stay andaz! May I ask which was your room number??? That noises from restaurant and fan sounds from 5:30am...I’ll send hotel to avoid that room. I like your videos. I see your channel from Japan,I’m Japanese 🇯🇵🗻🗼🏯🌸
While I wasn't looking while I was there, safe to say there's a cheap laundry shop on nearly every block in touristy parts of Bali. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
All of my recent Hotel videos (beginning with South Africa content) include info graphics that mention the crowds you’re likely to find at each hotel. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
May tick most the boxes except for budget lol I refuse to pay that price for a bed, shower and breakfast as I prefer to spend more with the locals than on flights or accommodation. lets face facts the majority of people including myself only sleep, shower and possibly have breakfast at accommodation and the rest of the time are out exploring the area or other areas of the island. It is beautiful though.
Well, yes of course there are snakes and mosquitos throughout all of Southeast Asia, they weren't a bother to me at this trip though. I promise if/when I see a snake at a resort, that detail will most likely be in my report 😂 Thanks for watching 🙏

Awesome video as always, I’m a fan of your style of video. Any plan to do either Four Seasons property in Bali? Or any of the Amans?
Great video my friend ( the my friend bit was scripted 😂). I’m not easily influenced but I am this time. Good job👍🏻
I will take that as a challenge haha. I'm curious how many of the 9 Bali reviews will end up influencing you :) Thanks for watching 🙏
I like your honest reviews.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Minimalist Japanese shrine inspired overall imo with a hint of Bali.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thanks for the tour
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thank you for the review, this hotel seems a bit similar with my last hotel that i stayed. It was in alila hotel seminyak
The room was dirty and noisy . W hotel slightly better
I’m surprised to hear it about Alila. I’ve never been to that property but had a fantastic stay at the Alila Ubud. A shame about Seminyak. Glad you enjoyed the W though! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Try atlas Fest beach.. brand new club' Fest in Bali.. very huge..
Btw Sanur is maybe best for local Indonesia..
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching 🩴
hi, you should try ayana resort in bali
Thanks for watching 🩴
Ever since Andaz Sg, I am swearing off Andaz. To me, it looked just a cleverer way of offering less in the name of hip or lifestyle (i.e. standing check in and no food on offer in the lounge)
Anyway this one looked very different than the Andaz I experienced.
@@tfft Thanks you so much. I wanted to know about the bread in the boottm!!
Amazing
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Hi Kevin, did you get to review the Bali Oberoi? I'm thinking of booking a villa there soon. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching 🙏
was there complimentary happy hour at the Andaz? The 2 Andaz hotels (London & Tokyo) that I stayed at offered complimentary happy hour.
I believe there was meant to be in the coffee shop that I mentioned based on the setup there but it wasn’t specifically mentioned when being given the tour at checkin (they referred to it as a coffee shop). Sorry I can’t comment more definitively about it. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Wow..Beautiful hotel
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Very helpful. So if I am just booking a base room, is there also a chance they give me one that is on top of village square? Ie. noisier / less privacy, or that happens only to the king deluxe rooms..
You'll need to consult with the hotel directly. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Excellent review, although your location and beach score seems overly generous
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Very nice coverage. New sub. Over from Grounded Life
Thanks for subscribing! 📺
Hi I love your video. Also can you make an video of Four seasons hotel of jakarta Part 2? ❄️
Kevin which one you more prefer this hotel or Intercontinental Jimbaran thks
IC if the beach is important to you- Andaz otherwise. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Are you currently in Sanur ? can yiu do a review of the Mercure Hotel?
keep up the great work 😉👍
Sorry, all of the Bali content was filmed in June. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft ok thanks 😉👍
Andaz just opened a new propery at Pattaya on Jomtien Beach. Give it a try if you can :)
I’m booked out for 2023, but perhaps next year :) Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
there is no way that resort can control the wind, you better go back there during summer. 😂
Who said the resort should control the wind...? lol
Update: The new path between the hotel and beach is now complete.
Great to hear!
@@tfft yes that’s what i meant, but not within the hotel premise, more on local attractions, and restaurant nearby
Sure I understand it. I considered something like this around a year ago but just felt there was so much content about food already so decided to go the way of my other two (new) channels linked in the video description. With those 3 channels, my plate is full 😂
What video editing program do you use? And have you been to Lombok?
I use iMovie. Planning to hopefully explore Lombok and Sulawesi sometime in the next year or two. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
No birds in the room? Not interested then... Thanks for the content and for another great review
Heading to Ibiza next week, will be sure to make sure there are a few birds in the room 😂 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Yes, please.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Great
Thanks for watching 🩴
Hello Kevine!!!
I’ll stay andaz!
May I ask which was your room number???
That noises from restaurant and fan sounds from 5:30am...I’ll send hotel to avoid that room.
I like your videos.
I see your channel from Japan,I’m Japanese 🇯🇵🗻🗼🏯🌸
I was in 6201 but the same would apply to 6202 as well. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft I really appreciate you…I like your channel because it’s honest !!! I always look at your channel from Japan 🇯🇵
thanks

Any club lounge or you have to go to Hyatt?
There was not during my stay. Seemed like the coffee shop was meant to be a quasi lounge though.
Thanks for the review. How’s the surrounding area? Is there a convenient place to do laundry (planning a 2-week stay) nearby?
While I wasn't looking while I was there, safe to say there's a cheap laundry shop on nearly every block in touristy parts of Bali. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Not bad :)
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Hi! Thanks for your honest video, were there any monkeys?
I'm sure there were... but I've never seen any outside of Ubud (and the area around it). Thanks for watching & Happy New Year 🎉

don't we all have lifestyle
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Hi Indonesia of the delicious 🤤🤗
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I know the crowd changes, but I aways wonder who tends to visit the hotel...If the crowd is posh and childfree..add 20 points lol
All of my recent Hotel videos (beginning with South Africa content) include info graphics that mention the crowds you’re likely to find at each hotel. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
How much was the room?
Details in the description. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Details in the description. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I’m not sure if it would include the “majority” of travelers- but point taken. To each their own. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
if you're going to be detached
you can stay at any resort
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I’d prefer ayana
And there lies the beauty of Bali, plenty of resorts to suit everyone’s taste! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Price per night???
As mentioned in the video, the price is in the description. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
wok wok: way too many flies around last time. it is all about hygiene.
beach is not for swimming. again it is related to hygiene.
Not sure what flies have to do with hygiene… there certainly aren’t piles of garbage lying around.
Whats your favorite hotel/resort in bali?
That’s like asking what’s your favorite food at the grocery store lol. Far too many variables to crown just one!
Hello sir, are there snakes and mosquitoes here?🕷🐍
Well, yes of course there are snakes and mosquitos throughout all of Southeast Asia, they weren't a bother to me at this trip though. I promise if/when I see a snake at a resort, that detail will most likely be in my report 😂 Thanks for watching 🙏
infinity
too much jargon

It hard to believe that Kevin did not ANY COMPLEMENT For any Service 😏 he complaining a lot about vacation. It's privileged behavior.
I talked extensively about the service at the restaurants and in general. It's hard to believe that You did not LISTEN. If you don't like honest opinions, this isn't the channel for you.
Complains too much
We have very different definitions of “complains” 🤣
