Ryobi guy here. I'm looking into kobalt down the line, every tool I've tried has been awesome. Not to mention moved somewhere with a Lowe's 10 mins away and no home depot around
Xtr is going to dominate. Kobalt/Lowes and chervon have done with the xtr line to power tools what the corvette c8 did to super cars. Force the competition to explain their high price tags.
I really have been impressed with kobalts xtr tools. I used to think they where junk till the xtr ones came out with the ultimate output. I will say for the price the recipsaw is the best saw for the money in my own opinion. Cuts very fast, lots of power cutting through metal, good battery life, and is more compact then other fullsize recipsaws

I am most interested in the circular saw personally as I’m pretty sure that has the highest power draw and so personally I’d love to see it against the flexvolt circular saw, or the fuel rear handle handle, or even the SkilSaw worm drive ?? I’m not even sure what is the top 3 most powerful circular saws ? its supposed to be a pro line so no reason to hold back.
@@Fee.1 yeah I'd like to see it up against the flexvolt too. I just picked up the new flexvolt sidewinder and it's a sweet saw so running the kobalt xtr against something along those lines would be interesting to me. Either way the new Kobalt stuff looks good on paper.
Love mine! All my kobalt stuff has held up very well to daily abuse. Except the rotary hammer drill. It still works but has heated up and leaked grease. Also I still use makita stuff especially my impact. Can’t beat the compact size and fell to the makita impacts. But the prices of their tools and batteries have made me get more and more kobalt.
Had to buy some new kobalt tools . Haven't ever owned them always had Ryobi can't wait to test them got the impact regular drill light and recip saw only comes with one battery so I picked up an extra high output 4ah to go with the extended life they gave me
I'm in the construction business,an I've taken the blue pill (Kobalt that is). I have to say I'm very pleased with there power tools, especially their no hassle 5 year warranty. Looking to up grade to the xtr line up. Please give a shout out to Static 151 I'm your biggest fan. Side note for coping my 45 I prefer the grinder flap disk method.
I'm a dog musher in Alaska and vcg turned me on to the kobalt xtr 5 tool kit and I got a discount because I worked at lowes when I bought it and I do contracting side jobs as well
Just bought the 5 tools XTR kit because of your videos. I only wish they will make more XTR tools near future. I can't figure out the box though. I know you have a video regarding organization, but this box is vertically compartmentalized...

Do you think the run with the XTR 4 Ah Orbital Mode was delayed because the saw stopped near the end of the piece of wood? I'm assuming its cause your finger slipped off the trigger while holding it up against the weight? The saw didn't cut off on its own, it was nowhere near exhausted yet. Orbital time shoulda matched the 6Ah!

Kobalt impact vs new Kobalt impact? Currently have the 5 tool set in and use the impact and circular saw the most. Love the impact and would upgrade if I knew it was a heck of an upgrade.

Cool saw I wonder how it stacks up against a Hilti or the general 18V Milwaukee. It's my opinion that the Milwaukee super saw saw is the king, but a regular Milwaukee reciprocating saw may be an interesting TTR, or a 22V Hili would be my second choice. Here is a thought. The Bosch sold at Lowes I bit would be a fair fight. It's about the same price, size, its sold with a 4amp hour batter, and it is made of similar chinesuim materials. I like the first impressions of the Kobolt and the Bosch should run a little slower than the Milwaukee, So Bosch Vs. Kobolt. Was say you Vince !!!!
Love your videos & I appreciate the idea of the weight to provide some consistency between tests. Just a thought, maybe different tests or just use a heavier weight on the test. I'd think most of us apply more than 5lbs of pressure when using a recip saw so the heavier weight might be more "realistic." Either way great content as usual 👍

Is it just me Or do you ever feel like the 2p battery packs FEEL like they’re more than twice the size/depth. Not sure why or what exactly it is but it’s the same for me with the cp3 vs 6 the 3 seems smaller than it is or vice versa I guess maybe the extra weight just plays tricks on my eyes

no, but a rafter hook and adjustable shoe are. Anyone who can't get those basic features down on a midrange or higher end saw shouldn't even bother shipping one out.
Kobalt only fails to the top brands in size they're bigger then the competitor which is a factor if you make a living with these tools but not at all of you're just needing to fix things around the house or the occasional side job.
Kobalt 24v: the dark horse of the cordless tool line up. I think we’re going to see a lot more black and blue on job sites because of VCG Construction. Thank you for putting in the time that help us make informed decisions on what tools will get the job done and at the best price points.
I have the xtr recip. I love how it barely vibrates. I cut a metal srair case up and can say it cut like butter and was just smiling at the low vibration. I had a new diablo blade on, do that helped too. It's a beast
Seems like it's a ok saw however that plastic top which is supposed to keep all of the outwards from gettin to the innards is gonna crack the first time it's dropped on a hard surface. Aluminum or magnesium would have been a much better choice but it would also jack up the price. The lesson here is....keep your shit secured with a lanyard , especially when on a ladder or roof....😋

The Kobalt 24v tools are very nice. Have a 3/8 impact, flashlight, and weedwacker.
I love my XTR system, the impact is a beast! At this time Kobalt has no idea of bringing out a 12V XTR line. Hopefully soon!

For the recip TTR I say something that also has orbital like the Rigid or the Super Sawzall.

I always forget who makes the kobalt stuff but I’m curious if they made the motors in house or contracted them out

The Ryobi p517 brushless recip saw... Has a stroke length of 1 1/8 and 3200 SPM... Just saying... But Kobalt is definitely a good tool .
Only thing missing is a rafter hook. Other than that looks great

Did you open it before testing it? Because it could be a factor in why it fail, not blaming you but..... it could of mess up the placement
