Kobalt cordless - so much value for your dollar!
I am just a homeowner, working on home projects and starting to do woodworking. I was looking for a NEW cordless system of tools to switch to. I have been using the 18-volt Porter Cable for years. Your reviews have helped me make the decision to purchase the Kobalt line. I have started with the ratchet drive, as it is needed for a urgent rebuilding of open metal framed staircase. Next I will purchase the Kobalt XTR kit, with the tool carrier. Thanks for the reviews you make.
I've been hearing on my xtr impact for over a month now. We hang cutter. As well as steel roof and steel siding. It has kept pace all day long with coworkers Milwaukee. I can't wait to get my hands on this saw and drop a composite blade in and see what Sparks fly. Love the video gang. Keep up the love.

Just got mine today after watching this review i came out great the store was out of. Free 4ah batteries so they upgraded me to a 6ah battery even better can't wait to start ripping with this bad boy
The people who're sleeping on the Kobalt XTR line specifically need to wake up. These are amazing and go head to head w/ all the other major brands. Love mine! I currently have the following in my XTR setup the 1/2" Impact Wrench, 1/2" Impact driver, Hammer drill, and am currently looking to get the circular saw.

I have the Kobalt 1/4" impact, regular drill, 1/2" impact (which is a beast by the way) and the 6.5" circular saw with multiple batteries and two chargers. Had most for about 2 years, just got the 1/2" impact. All have performed flawlessly. The 24v max line up may be the most under rated tool line out there today.

Just used mine for the first time yesterday. I cut some 2x4's 2x6's and 3/4" plywood to make a new workbench. I used the included blade and it was a pleasure to use. It's my first cordless saw, I kept looking for the cord at first lol. Very happy with the 5 tool XTR kit.
@VCG CONSTRUCTION I really liked the saw! I don’t have any cobalt tools only dewalt but I liked the way it performed and how clean of a cut it made!
Many people are too into the brand and not into the performance. I have been a long time Festool and Makita fan, and I have to say, I picked up this saw because of this video to just try out, and I absolutely love the XTR line of tools. They have finally entered the competition. I love using this saw!

Kobalt has always been my go to tools they are fantastic. And you can't beat the power of the 24v max battery
alot of people think kobalt power tools is just the cheap house brand for lowes....i think they need to market themselves better and tell the public who makes kobalt power tools....same company that makes skilsaw....then maybe they will get some more respect as a higher end tool with this new XTR line...part of the problem is nobody knows who makes them....even pro contractors dont know unless they watch VCG videos
kingofthecrease30 thats why it can never outsell dewalt or milwaukee even if new kobalt power tools are getting better. Brand recognition comes a long way.
The salesman at Lowes told me the same company that makes snap on makes Kobalt.

I changed platforms fro,m Makita to Kobalt XRT a few months ago and it was a great decision. No regrets. XTR tools are beastly.
Do you have any updates on the Kobalt tools or their batteries? Long term? It's the lithium ion batteries which make the expensive tools so expensive, because the batteries last for 10 years on the name brand tools. Some of the cheaper tools have customers complaining of black fluid leaking out of their batteries.

Kobalt is truly moving up the ranks in the tool world. They're quickly becoming and adding some professional tools. Excited to see what else they plan on doing!

Impressed that the rip fence actually comes with the saw, when most brands have you buy this separately.....cool👍🏻 (it’s those little things that can make a subtle, but big difference). I also noticed the dust chute....it has one 🤣, again, that’s a plus; as some saws don’t, or at very least, have them in “great places”. Wonder how this would do going thru treated material with dust chute..... Would it clog like many other saws do, which is normal; but also curious to see how well it continues to function & cuts when the “chute” is full & you have sawdust in your way.
What has me super impressed...those positive stops on that bevel. That’s great right there👍🏻👍🏻

Derek Savage that’s very surprising, as thought the new Kobalt XTR circ saw was only one that supplied rip fence; so that pretty cool. Maybe mine long ago was missing it; or the6 changed policy.

I've owned a few of the Kobalt cordless tools, they were all fantastic to use. My favorite though was the corded 15amp circular saw, it cut through anything with no effort at all and I could barely tell I was holding it, it was so light. It's really a head ringer trying to decide what cordless circular saw to go with, but this review sold me.

Cut some pressure treated dimensional lumber or lvl beams or 4x4 with rips to test power.

Me too. Bought mu old Skil back in the late 90's and it's been great. But, after buying this XTR, I can't find enough stuff to cut! Great saw.
Seems like Kobalt has really upped their game. I'd be more inclined to outfit with Kobalt power tools but already have most of the DeWalt tools I need.

I'm highly impressed. I just bought one about a week ago and it cuts wood as it was cutting butter. This saw is powerful and smooth in operation. When cutting it moves like it's running on wheels. I have a new Skilsaw circular -electric, but its performance is very weak compared to this Kobalt XLR saw. A friend that has even a Dewalt has used mine and ended up purchasing one of these Kobalt XLR SAW.

4ah Battery on the circular saw last for quite awhile too. I love my kobalt tools, not to mention their batteries are reasonably priced compared to others.

The vacuum attachment is actually kind of useful too..fir me number 1 is the warranty people forget about. I call kobalt and say hey this tool doesnt work because whatever..they say heres a number to gjve the cashier at Lowes go grab a new one off the shelf. Backing up theire toughness... Kobalt is officially pro now in my opinion

@@shawnfurlong3941 I got the kit but it wasnt out or advertised. I happened to see it still in the brown shipping box that includes two of the kits. I got someone to open the 2 pack shipping box so i can get one. If you look around, you might get lucky. Mine was on the floor in the tool section. Ive also heard of some people seeing them up high in the rafters. GL!
Lowe’s in Hutto TX had two 5 pack crates, the ones shown here, last weekend. I bought one and the next day went in to buy a different tool and the other one was being sold as I stood there. The Lowe’s guy said the company is sending out limited crates to each store over time. I paid $399....awesome price, charger and two batteries too.

Im a bit late to the party, but I just got this saw and Im wondering if it just got a bad baseplate or if they are all like this. Can you adjust it to 0 bevel and verify with a square? The case on mine hits the baseplate rigth in the middle before it can get to 0, it is not hitting the set screw that stops it at 0. . Also my baseplate is concave. Hoping that I just got a bad unit.

I intended on buying this saw when it came out but honestly never had to cause I realized my 6 1/2" is lighter and as long as I keep a 4.0 battery in it I have no issues doing anything trim work related.

Have one. LOVE IT. however it has taken some getting used to because the power does seem to lag a bit if you try and cut a 2x4 or what not straight through, just like you did in the video. I have to ease through it or it bogs or shuts off completely. But oh well right? The conveyance of not dealing with a cord is worth it.

Thanks for the great video. I have to say, "I am impressed, very impressed !" I hate my old plug in the wall saw. That power cord is always in the way. I get partly through a cut of a sheet of plywood and the cord always gets stuck on something. Pain in the rear. I've been slowly replacing a lot of my corded tools with the Kobalt 24 volt line.

I just bought one to work on a project. Waiting for my battery to charge my 4.0 amp one is like half charged. Can't wait to get outside later today and put it to work. Got mine on sale for $109.00 at lowes. It was cheaper than the other model and this one has a case.
Is it supposed to be super quiet? Only other circular saw ive ever used was my grandpas old one years ago when I was a kid and I remember that thing being super loud.

I just bought this saw, partly in thanks to your video (so I smashed the like button!) :D It was included in the big Kobalt XTR 5-Tool 24-Volt Max Brushless Power Tool Combo Kit with Hard Case (Charger Included and 2-Batteries Included). I needed pretty much all the tools in the combo and these Kobalt XTR tools seem to be getting great reviews, so after much comparison of the impact drill (against metabo, Milwaukee, etc. where the XTR did just as well for a lot less), I grabbed (the last) XTR 5 Tool Combo kit in Jacksonville (which also included an additional free Kobalt 4.0Ah Extended Life battery with purchase ($60 value). I also did just order the SKILSAW 7 1/4" TRUEHVL Cordless Worm Drive Saw as well which I should receive at the end of the week. I think these two saws would be a good comparison with the same blade (I bought the Diablo Ultimate Framing 24 TPI 7 1/4" blade for the XTR). Keep on cutting! I just discovered your channel this week! :)

@@captainhomeimprovement7041 all the tools in the XTR kit are impressive. I'm finding they are better than the majority of "pro" models. And this kit is a massive steal at $399 for 4 most used power tools + a versatile LED light + a charger + 2 batteries. Individually priced, the items come at twice as much. I only don't have the XTR 1/2" Impact Wrench because I don't need it, nor the dedicated drill driver because the hammer/drill driver is in the kit. I'm looking forward to seeing what else will be introduced in the XTR line.
I would like to get my hands on the individual cases though. I know most people don't use them and end up tossing them, so if anybody buys these tools individually and doesn't want the case, please let me know!
BTW, the XTR line are my first Kobalt tools. I do not own any of the 24 Max Brushless tools (since buying the XTR combo kit, I have since bought the Kobalt fan for $49 - 50% off on sale).
I would not hesitate to purchase these XTR tools - especially the great deal with the 5 tool combo kit.

@@captainhomeimprovement7041 I still haven't seen any Father's Day sales yet. I asked them at Lowe's and they don't know yet. For what you get, $400 is a steal. But I'll let you know that the kit that I got was the last kit I've seen at the store. I've had mine for a month now and I have yet to see them restock that kit so it might have been a limited thing. I am only seeing the individual kits now. You might want to go online and search for the 5 piece tool kit and see what stores in your area have them. I don't know if they are going to be restocked. Am I it have been just a kit made for the initial release of the line. Definitely well worth it though.
Great review on this saw I want to know if this circular saw combined with the 24 volt 7-1/4 in. Daul Bevil. Compound sliding mitre saw. Would make a great off grid workshop on light to medium projects when using the 6 amp or higher batteries.

I have that miter and it is awesome! Cuts through 8-10 inch boards with 4amp hr battery all day with no problems. Has high end features only Milwaukee 7 1/4 has. Best tool i own now

I have this saw and it is great! The only downside to this versus Milwaukee is literally just weight. This saw is pretty heavy compared to Milwaukee. I’d say close to 8lbs heavier.

How about longevity of the tool, batteries, service outlets etc.... maybe great for a yr or so but it’s still just a weekend warrior cutter. I do like the blade on the right though.
Your comments about the depth guide made me wonder how much variation there is in the actual size of 7 1/4” saw blades. Could there by 1/16” or even 1/8” difference in the blades?
Yep. Some blades are 1/8th smaller than others. I've placed several brands of blades on top of each other, and some blades are 1/8" smaller. If you imagine, they give you a smaller blade, it costs them less to make it. One 10" table saw blade I have is about 9 3/4" diameter.

And you can use the rafter hook to depress the trigger safety.
Diablo made a metal cutting blade for regular circular saw remember I think you were at an event. Maybe try using this saw with the Diablo blade to try and cut metal.
if u are invested in other tool brands like dewalt u can buy battery adapters so u can use your dewalt and kobalt batterys with your other tool just thought ied put that out there to help
that saw is left handed? I just got a cordless Bosch Right handed Cir saw, love is, but I would look and Kobalt if they have a right handed saw
Both Ryobi and Kobalt are moving up in quality. Maybe it's time to do a brushless showdown between the two. I've also noticed Ryobi is letting some of their stuff sell out. Are they getting ready to launch a new upgraded platform to match Kobalt. Hmmmmm🤔

I have always like kobalt have the original sent with a lot of use on them. The new ones look great even though I’m using Milwaukee now.
