This remindeds me of a story I have. A blue jay went down to a wood pile I have lying around. It grabbed some sort of insect and within two seconds, it sounded like 5 other bluejays appeared and started BEGGING to be fed.

I feed my squirrels peanuts and that draws -in lots of birds. I have red-bellied woodpeckers, titmouses, Carolina wrens, Eastern blue birds, threshers, cardinals, blue jays and yes, sea gulls. I can't forget...mockingbirds! The elderly man that I've been a live-in caregiver/roommate for the last five years, has passed away recently. I will leave here in October and worry b/c my birds have taught their fledglings where to go for food. Will they be okay after I'm gone? I also have crows. Just wondering and worried.
