    Great video, I've been running a StingIR for almost a year now.
    Just a heads up HCC Tactical has made a dovetail mount for the StingIR so you can run it on a standard bridge with a PVS14. HCC's dovetail differs from the one Mod Armory made with HCC's dovetail mount you can also run the StingIR in a Wilcox Oasys flip mount from the Skeet. So with the HCC dovetail you can go from bridge mounted to clip on (via Wilcox Oasys ) with no mount change.
    Now if the rumor I heard comes true about AGM doing a "screen shift" update to the StingIR, it will practically become a cheaper lighter RH25.

      Thank you. I’ve been looking for some one that makes one. That screen shift would be awesome

      Hey can you confirm what that HCC adapter is made of? They don’t have much of a product description. And what scope mount height does it end up aligning with. Thanks in advance

      @@rileyfrench3837 the dovetail is aluminum and the part that's "sandwiched" between the dovetail & StingIR is some sort of plastic/nylon. It feels like the same material the Noisefighters panobridge is made from.
      As to optic height it's supposed to work with 1.5"-1.7" height mounts. I'm still waiting on my Wilcox Oasys mount to ship. I'll report back after I receive the Wilcox.

    I just bought a stingir 384 to use as a clip-on. How is the return to zero when you take it off from the clip on position and put it back later in your experience?

    thats a good combo. i would use the thermal for spoting and the nv for everything else. you can hide from nv, but its harder to hide from thermal.

    First of all, great job with your review. I also have this unit but have been extremely disappointed. I tried to run it exactly the way you have yours set up but I have never been able to get it sighted in. The image is not centered to the body of the unit and so it is not in alignment with the LVPO's image. The image is several feet to the left of what reality is. I have never been able to get it sighted in and there are no instructions in the manual about how to use it as a clip on in front of another optic. I also tried using it as a stand alone unit on my rifle and that is a no go as well because you can't get it to mount far enough back for you to actually get your eye close enough. I would love to see a more in depth video from you about how you got it sighted in and aligned to your LVPO. Absolutely no one has done a video about how to do that with this unit. It makes for a good handheld unit, or maybe helmet mounted, but not as a weapon unit.

      Yes the AGM StingIR currently does not offer a screen margin shift. So when using as a clip on you'll have to "re-zero" your scope to the thermal's screen.

    • @rileyfrench3837
      @rileyfrench3837 Год назад

      @@theLeadGinI was under the impression that since it doesn’t have a screen adjustment that you could adjust the thermal reticle over top of the day optic reticle (not needing to zero your day optic to the thermal). Are there no zero adjustments of the StingIR reticle?

    • @theLeadGin
      @theLeadGin Год назад +1

      @@rileyfrench3837 yes you can zero the AGM StingIR reticle. The problem is the image through the StingIR isn't aligned perfectly with reality. To understand this better Imagine your rifle is clamped in a vice, and your looking through your scope at a target. You have your crosshairs perfectly in the center of the target, now you put the StingIR in front of your scope. With the StingIR in front of your scope your crosshairs will no longer be in the center of the target (might even be completely off the target). This is where you want a "screen shift" margin adjustment so you can align the thermal's screen to get your crosshairs back to where they should be.
      Since there is screen shift feature in the StingIR you'll have to either zero the Thermal's reticle and ignore you scopes crosshairs, or re-zero you scope to the thermal's screen. If you choose to re-zero your scope to the screen then when you take the thermal off you'll have to re-zero your scope again without the thermal.
      Hopefully this makes since, I choose to zero the Thermal's reticle and ignore my scope's crosshairs when I use it as a clip-on, that way my scope is still zeroed when I remove the StingIR.

      I have an email from AGM with clip on directions.
      Sting-IR
      1. Zero daytime optic (on X)
      2. Keep daytime optic steady on target (X) using a gun vise, tripod or bipod.
      3. Install StingIR in front of daytime optic. Ensure you install carefully as to not move the rifle off point of aim (X).
      4. Single press the center button to open the menu.
      5. Go to Display> Clip-on> single press center button then up or down buttons to turn on.
      6. Once in clip on mode you will see (x,y).
      7. Single press center button to deselect on/off. Press down button to highlight x. Center button to select x. Then using the up/down buttons align your x axis.
      8. Repeat steps for y axis.
      9. Scroll down the Exit and press center button to turn off x,yselections.
      10. Take StingIR off and ensure your daytime optics reticle was still on target (X) and repeat steps 6-9 again if minor adjustments are still needed.
