@@TankTheTech This is what he said : "This video gives me good memories, the techguy with the coolest name in the business is doing a great reaction of this song from our latest tour. Just to correct "Tank" when he says that -nobody is able to do this alone! Actually, we carried over 100 crewmembers from city to city on our last tour to be able to build and tear down our stage each night and deliver this show. 100+ amazing crewmembers who currently looking for work. Fuck Corona."
Audie Murphy(To Hell and Back) was a member of the 3rd Infantry Division. My dad was enlisted in this division in the 90s, and the chorus of the song is directly from a poem Audie had written before he died about his combat PTSD.
Shit, I’m an American soldier and I’m crying my eyes out and don’t fking care who sees it.🇺🇸 These are some universal lyrics when it comes to soldiers, esp combat vets.
@@yeoldeyoungin9745 I couldnt agree more, this hit way too close to home for me, all I could think about was the feeling I had on my first deployment when we first left American airspace on our way to Afghanistan, that fear that I had just seen my homeland for the last time in my life, and that that last hug I gave my family was possibly the last time I would feel their touch....
@@yeoldeyoungin9745 yes, its about the 30 years war that everyones european ancestor and their cousin was a part of, one way or another. It was lifetime at war, people were born and died during war times during those years.
As well as wondering if you should be headbanging, or bawling your eyes out (fields of Verdun comes to mind for me, such amazing riffs, combined with heartbreaking lyrics)
@@The_Mantimoose the Swedish version are ofc the best but you need to speak or understand Swedish to enjoy that version (ofc you can still enjoy it, music is a universal language.)
@@freddelarsson5153 yeah I get that especially as I'm a Rammstein fan. Yet having listened to both the Swedish and English Carolus Rex albums, I prefer the English version.
For this album Carolus Rex, because it's a Swedish band singing about Swedish history, the entire album was released in both English and Swedish. I had always thought this song was a direct translation for both versions, but I was wrong. The lyrics are completely different in both languages.
as far as i know the lyrics differ in the viewpoint.. this one is from the perspective of the soldiers,.. the english one is from the perspective of a thirdparty / observer
Yes the Swedish and English version of this song are very different. The English version is more of a general song about the Thirty Years' War and the crazy idea that someone could be born, grow up and die in the same war. The english version for those not from Sweden - ruclips.net/video/zvdbDw5bXnQ/видео.html
Some of the songs are different. 1648 is another one that is completely different, the English version is from the point of view of the citizens of Prague while the Swedish version is from the point of view of the Swedish soldiers laying seige to Prague.
I did not know that the songs were not just translations. The lyrics of "Lifetime of War" are nowhere near as powerful as this, in my opinion. I'm an idiot when it comes to language, so I really can only appreciate the sound of non-English songs. Since the music is identical to "Lifetime of War", what I can get out of this without the captions is less than what I can get from the English version, and that is a huge disservice to beautiful songwriting.
@@HALberdier17, I have to confirm this. 1648 (in eng version) is my must-listen song if I need to be reminded to 'stand and fight' but the Sweedish version of lyrics makes me cry. I remember the first time, I saw a video with Swedish lyrics translated to English at one point I was just singing along the English version while sobbing. If the events in the songs influenced your history that much it's hard to not be emotional as was proved by Sabaton many times over.
My son are doing his military service right now, and the week before this weekend, they did their beret test, two days of marches (somewhere around 50-60 kilometres) with full gear, and with diverse checkpoints with strecher carrying "wounded". Up camp, down camp within hours, shooting tests, no food, wet uniform (the winter here got from arctic to rain an gales this week). But those who finished had a ceremony. In front of a large bonfire they were presented with their berets, and after performing soldaterindran (trans. soldiers oath), they sang the national anthem. And here comes the story: some guy played En livstid i krig and Carolus Rex afterwords, and the commander thought it was so good, that he intended to do this here after.
@@TankTheTech Yeah, he's the one with a future, i'm myself is a one of past, but at least i influenced him musically, remember one time he was in pre school, the teachers asked what music they listened to and all the kids listen to some Disney princess music, but my son answered: The music my dad plays in the car! And believe me i am Born 63, grew up with 60's, 70's and 80's (mostly hard) rock, so he heard alot of rock and even some roll. But he was the one that got me into Sabaton. I always had an interrest for history (common and military), and brought it forth to him, when he told me that Sabaton had a history professor fact check their lyrics, i was sold! Both of us are probably damaged goods, because his best friend and hero was his grand dad, my father, who served in the Swedish Air Force for forty years! (Yup I'm born at an airforce base)!
This was such an epic moment. I was there, at scandinavium, and it was such an emotional song. They had hyped us up for Sabaton all night, with Amaranthe and Apocalyptica displaying amazing performances, and then finally, Sabaton comes with this. They told us to turn on our flashlights on the phones, which is all of the lights you see, and it was so impactful. Many people around me had a hard time singing along because they were too busy crying.
When you said we might hate you for rewinding mid song, dude, it's your video. Do whatever makes you happy. It reminded me of a time I was listening to Eddie Trunk on his radio show. He was taking requests, and Maiden fans were constantly asking for their 13+ minute epic Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Eddie went on to say that 13 minute songs are never played on radio, but then stated, "You know what? This is my show! I can do whatever I want!" So, he played Rime.
Also, we appreciate the commentary. So we don't mind at all rewinding and pausing. And it's not like this is the only time we'd get to hear the song. If you know what I mean. Keep up the amazing job!
I took my son to see Sabaton in Vegas last year for his 13th birthday. They were in this little club called the Brooklyn Bowl. It was really incredible being a few feet away from them! I feel so fortunate that we were able to see them in such a small venue, considering the sizes of the arenas they sell out in Europe. But I agree that it would be an incredible experience to see them at one of those enormous arenas or at some huge festival. One thing that stuck out with how genuinely happy and humble they seemed. Joakim especially seemed so genuinely thrilled and appreciative to see this little venue packed full on a Sunday night in America… even though they play in front of tens of thousands in Europe. They seem like such nice guys. I wish I could post pictures in the comments and you could see how happy they looked.
I saw them in Nashville at the Ryman a few months back (holds about 2,000 people), and you could tell they had an absolute blast. Spent some time with them afterwards and they were super nice and humble people.
If you want to see a ballad from Sabaton, they've done one. It's called : Ballad of the Bull It's about a guy from Australia who was a medic who went into battle unarmed and under fire to bring back the wounded. He went in and out, over, and over again. When the war was over, all nations seen him as a hero, an awarded him as such. All, but his own.
This performance was recorded on Februari 14th. The day before there was an ice-hockey match on the same place where that crowd is. The entire stadium had to be rebuild from an ice floor to a floor holding 14.000 people and a prop tank, in under a day. Unreal to see and feel the vibe on both days.
Fun fact: I clicked onto this video by accident but it did not disappoint. I personally started crying when watching that live video. First of all it’s all kinds of amazing, second it made me miss touring so bad. I’ll never forget how the audience sang their hearts out in this! I was somewhere in the wings, behind the barricades and the amount of chills was ridiculous. I was part of the crew on this tour and it truly was massive. If i remember correctly the head count ( including support bands) was 124. We had 7 trucks, 5 busses (just for Sabaton & crew) plus 2 support busses. And yes, we did the whole tour with the set and production. We toured with 25 stagehands and them there was local crews to help too but mainly it was done by the own stagehands and other crew members. Every damn day i watched in awe to see the stage being build. Ridiculous and awesome! I hope we get back on the road soonish. Take care!
Dude, thank you for commenting and dropping all that info! From one roadie to another, be safe and I hope you’re doing well! Hopefully we can get back to work soon!
This is definitely one of their most emotional songs in their catalogue, especially compared to the English version "A Lifetime Of War". It's the same melody, but the lyrics don't hit you as much because it's from a neutral viewpoint of the 30 Years War, whereas En Livstid I Krig is from a view of a Swedish soldier. Next, you would have to see Uprising & 40:1 Live from Woodstock. If you think that crowd was great, wait until you see that insane Polish crowd at Woodstock. And please, get to Galneryus soon & check out Unlucky Morpheus after that.
I think Price of a mile (aka Fields of Pashendale) and Cliffs of Galipolli are on the same level of emotial if not above. PRobably depends on your antionality though
@@DoubIeO Price Of A Mile on its own doesn't hit you as emotionally as En Livstid I Krig. The video that Knight SGC made for the 100th Anniversary of Armistice/Memorial Day made Price Of A Mile a lot more emotional.
Watching this blows my mind ! Sabaton came to my local city here in rural England.... very small venue with only a capacity of a few hundred. No props or extra production, just music and it was still incredible !!! There guys are awesome !!!
As powerful as Sabaton is, that crowd is the centerpiece of that EPIC song. I couldn't even read the subtitles, and I'm crying. Sabaton is laying a 12,000 seat 'concrete-box' arena in Portland in 2021, and now I'm thinking of busting my concert budget and adding a couple nosebleed Sabaton tickets. ... how long does it take to learn Swedish? ...
The first time I saw Sabaton was at a small dive bar/club in Arizona and there were maybe 50 people there. The 2nd time i saw them, same type of venue, but i got backstage tickets for 40 bucks and met the entire band. There were about 150 people at that show. Mind blowing.
The coolest thing about Sabaton is that they still play small venues here in Sweden (were they're from), they can play a max 500 people show in a small town directly after playing a 20k people show... Really cool and down to earth band! BTW, loved how you're giving the "roadies" and stage people props! I'm not in the business myself, but as I'm in construction I feel that it's much appreciated! ❤
They filmed almost every concert from the Great Tour and streamed for 1 hour live (I think). It was great. Behind the scenes, interviews with the crew, close ups of Hannes' .... derrière. They also talked about the production and filmed the busses and stuff. Really interesting and yeah, it was massive. Really cool. Sabatommy grilling a cheese sandwich in the middle of the night and Joakim nagging because his stomach started grumbling and other little things, too. Made me really appreciate the whole band. It was really fun to watch ^^
True, they lived streamed 1th hour of mostly every show during The Great Tour here on RUclips with their own camera man going all around the scene. From up stage and down to crowd front line \m/
@@Sannoz Yeah. I watched every one of them. It was so fun. My friends suffered greatly because I would then tell them about everything... and they don't even like metal. But who cares? It was a great time. xD Some of the scenes even made it to the official live videos. The dutch crowd chanting for Joakim to put his trousers on his head, I think? Really like those videos, too.
I had to google ”why do we get chills from music” after listening to this song for the first time. The swedish lyrics are to me a lot more powerful and actually listening to the words bring me close to tears
important note why many swedes also sing along to this song not only is it a great song. but you gotta remember many swedes lost their great great grant fathers who gave their lives in this war. not saying everyone its an exceptional tune by itself and lyrics, but for some this is to honor their great great grandfather, they have books and pictures within family. Sweden is very rich in history, and sadly in sweden its often frowned upton to be patriotic becuse they often link it to racism. wich is sad actually.
damn... 10 seconds after he started singing... tears were rolling.. so emotional! Great song!! I'm from Denmark, and our languages are fairly similar, so i understand most of what he is singing without subtitles. He got a very strong delivery. The words really hits you in the soul.
This was indeed a massive production. When i saw the live at the start of this year, i saw 7 trucks for stage props instrument, etc. And 6 busses for crew and band, so yeah pretty big. If you ever wondered where your money goes. Anyway stay healthy everyone
Also check out their blog of that tour. They have a video for each town. In one of them, I think they mentionned that Hannes setup (tank and drum) take like 5 hours to build
And if you are interested in sabaton ballads, i suggest you to check out "the ballad of bull" that's a really nice song but i don't think there is an actual music video for that
I was at that show. First Sabaton concert, came over from Denmark. Wife and I were up on the stands. I remember when the show started he asked if he should speak Swedish or not, and evidently our cries of "Nooooo!" were drowned out.. so we didn't really understand what he said during the show, but that's fine. And we didn't need assistance for En Livstid I Krig, having rehearsed it at length from home. Great concert, truly. With Apocalyptica and Amaranthe giving us a good time, too.
How about we start a Patreon account called "TANK on tour!" and send Tank to some European festivals once this pandemic is over? (He can bring a friend as long as it is Chase). Also, Pär said in an interview that the Swedish lyric versions are more popular in English speaking countries (US) than the English versions. Why do you think this is Tank?
It's because of the lyrics. The English versions are written from an outsider's perspective, and the Swedish versions are written from a Swedish soldier's perspective

This came up after watching a Sabaton video so I let it play and I was not disappointed. Love to get some insight/comments about stuff like this. I helped out building small stage setups about 30 years ago so it was also trip down memory lane. Thanks.
I was at this show. Insane. And yes, the stage was set up that way through out the entire tour and the entire tour was filmed that way. They've released a live performance from different cities every saturday since the great tour ended. Watch Nightwitches live from the great tour next.
They tour with the whole stage setup. It is for the Album "The Great War" (WW1) and therefore the stage is designed to mimick a WW1 style trench. From the audience side it looks like a sandbagwall with barbed wire on top.
When you talk about how much work goes into the stage setup, remember this: They are Swedish. What is also Swedish? IKEA. Everything probably packs flat, and is put together using only an Allen key.
If you want more of this ballad-like Sabaton I'd recommend "The ballad of Bull", a literal metal ballad about Leslie "Bull" Allen and the day he saved 12 fellow soldiers' lives.
"Gott mit uns" is a great song, and videos for "Primo Victoria" and "Fields of Verdun" I like Wolfpack a lot....there is soooo much godd stuff from Sabaton
Metalizer has so many hidden gems too They did epic covers tho All Guns Blazing The Beast (Twisted Sister Cover) Burn in Hell (Twisted Sister Cover) Man of War (Radiohead / manowar cover) Camouflage In The Army Now (Bolland & Bolland cover)
From a native Swede, this, the Swedish version, is the point of view of a Swedish soldier during the whole Thirty Years’ War, the English version being the world’s view of it.
I was there, AMAZING SHOW, and this song was imo the highlight, 1) because it's my favorite song from Sabaton and it's just fantastic in Swedish, 2) The crowd was amazing, 3) Could really feel how much Sabaton enjoyed it, superb performance a master piece for sure. 4) They got a tank. Great reaction!
even i don't understand the language but their music makes me goosebumps man, and the crowd is amazingly beautiful, thanks Tank for bring up this journey🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻this is my first time with Sabaton
There's a few sabaton songs like this, that are very emotional and sing about the most important parts of the worlds and Swedish history. First song on the list has got to be: 1) The Final Solution - it's about the Holocaust and the deaths that happened during this. 2) Long Live the King - this song is about the unexplained death and travel back home of the Swedish king Charles XII. 3) Cliffs of Gallipoli - a song about the battle of Gallipoli during World War 1. 4) Hearts of Iron - about the german 12th Army and it's general Walther Wenck saving 250 000 people during the battle of Halbe. 5) The Carolean's Prayer - kind of about the battle tactics the Caroleans (Swedish soldiers) were taught (March on until they saw the white in their enemies eyes) 6) Light in the Black - about the Peacekeeping forces (them leaving home, only to return not knowing if they'll be seen as heroes or monsters) 7) Purple Heart - this song is about the Vietnam war and the soldiers who fought in it. 8) The Ballad of Bull - this is the closest you'll get to an actual ballad by Sabaton and it's about Leslie "Bull" Allen who saved 12 men by climbing a hill and carrying every man one by one back down the hill 9) The Price of a Mile - it's about WWI and it's casualties. In particular the battle of Passhendaele. BOOM That's all the Sabaton songs that are similar to A Lifetime of War (I don't know if I should've included Wolfpack). I recommend checking out all of them.
As a fellow American, I totally agree that our country is largely missing out on some of the best music being made and performed in the world today!! Great video, great commentary!
It's taken me a long time to figure out how to put into words how I feel about this song; It's like this band is giving voice to the sorrow of all the wars over the past ten centuries, for all of the people for whom sobbing and shedding tears simply wasn't enough to express their pain and loss. And no, I can't listen to this song without crying at least a little every single time.
Check out Pär speech during Wacken 2019, playing 2 stages as headliner, then you know how far they have come. and yes it’s true they aren’t playing that big in the USA, but that’s also, sometimes, with some bands from the USA coming to Europe. But seeing their “Devil Dogs” video clip, I miss the “small” clubshows of Sabaton: being all sweaty and “beer”-smelly (if that’s proper word.. if not f*****d it, made a new word) after the show and being completely sober and broke (from buying all that beer) 🙈🙈🙈
I’m not gonna lie....when you said finally gonna see the Tank I immediately started looking for you on stage behind the drum set or behind some stacks or behind......then I saw the actual tank barrel and I was like 🤦🏻♂️ , I felt like a dumbass 🤣🤣
The great thing about "A lifetime of war" and "En Livstid I Krig" is that we have 2 different views on the same topic, 30 years war, in the lyrics. The english version is more an overview, generals perspective, the swedish is from the view of single swedish soldier. For that reason there are 2 parts on "sabaton history". No.31 for the english and No. 34 for the swedish
40:1 is awesome, especially the live Woodstock version. It was in Poland with 6000,000 people, and the song is about Polish war heroes. Well worth a watch.
I agree with you 100% when you talked about the quality of the bands from overseas, and they are not properly embraced here in North America. The "glass half full" side of this, is I have got to see all my favorite bands (Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Epica, Delain, Lacuna Coil, Sabaton, Sonata Arctica, Within Temptation, etc) in small clubs; for cheap tickets; and from the front rows. Usually with no barricades.
Those small venues that almost all European metal bands visit in the US at great. For a relatively low price, you get front row tickets. Great for fans, but the bands deserve way bigger venues
I wish i could say the same about quality overseas.👨🔧 Yeah boi its on and we swedes shred you all. Just kidding. Russia is on the rise to. Siberian meat grinder is great. Pls Throw some great American bands my way.
Hi! I live in Gothenburg and was on show! It was really amazing...but this song took it to another level. When the crowed started to sing...still get goosebumbs!
Sabaton fact: They always put a lot of stage production into their tours, event when they do rinky dink venues like they do here in Calgary, fitting maybe 800 people. They are always a great band to see live and I have yet to miss them once since they started coming to my area.
15000 people singing TO the band, it’s like the crowd was doing the show. This exact video might honestly be my favorite concert video ever. It touches you man. And all of it in one camera shot.
LOL, I bought tickets for that in Vegas already, I was confused when the ticketmaster thing said Judas Priest after I linked from Sabaton's site... "no dammit, I want to see sabaton"
@@MercenaryPen First time I saw them, they were playing support for Nightwish. Can't argue with that either, although they got massive receptions from the crowds at each show, sometimes even louder than what Nightwish got.
I just wanna say a huge thank you for your content, coming from a Swedish stage hand. Huge fan of your channel!!! Love your talks! Thank you for taking your time explaining or trying to, to the people not in the entertainment and stage industry what huge work and planing it takes, with huge teams to put something like this together. Anything from 1-7 days of hard physical labor. Tomorrow I'm doing the first consert gig in Stockholms Globen /Avicii Arena after these years of pandemic.
Your next stop on the Sabaton train has to be Uprising from Woodstock, as many others already has said. It's about the Polish resistance in Warsaw during WWII, so when they play it in Poland it's just something else. As for this song, I would love to hear how it feels to hear them sing in a language you don't understand (by the way: great pronounciation of the title, from a Swede). I can also imaging that the shot for the video being towards the crowd hits a bit closer to home for a roadie since it's pretty much how you get to see it during the show, right? In general, I like Sabaton's slower songs more than their fastpaced ones. They just nail the marching rythm and the feeling that an entire army is slowly approaching the battle.
You're absolutely right about these bands playing clubs in the states. While its a shame, and we don't get their full production, but I REALLY love the intimacy of these incredible bands playing these smaller venues. I think the European fans don't get as personal of a connection with the band as we do here. Sabaton hangs out after almost every show. And they recognize fans and remember them from shows past, sometimes even by name. Sabaton is one of the biggest powerhouse bands I've ever seen and I love that I get to go hang out with them and connect on a real level
So, this is the first video that I watch on your channel. I've watched at least a dozen reaction videos of "En livstid i Krig" by now and your reaction is by far the best to date. I get goosebumps every time I watch this live performance! You got to have some sort of musicality tied to you. Being in a band, backstage personal, or any instrument playing knowledge. You intercept the small things like the "Talk-Back microphone" and ask us, the viewers if we know the answer to the question. I like the humble awareness. There are not that many people that would notice such a small thing like that. As a fellow musician, I bow to that. Collaboration is the best way of communication. I primarily watch outlandish RUclipsrs reacting to this song. Since I'm a swede it's more astounding to watch foreigners reacting to this song than colloquial speaking people and to see the same joyful face no matter the language barriers are just a blast to watch. Looking forward to more nerdiness! Chers
Just amazing performance by Sabaton!! As a true swede, veteran soldier from service abroad….This song really hit me deep down in a place I had put away! Also thinking about all the swedes that gave their life during the wartime from the ”30 year war” in the mid 1600’s. Sweden were the greatest nation in whole Europe, the ”Karoliner soldiers” in blue uniforms and yellow markings…were all heroes with training and courage that were many levels higher than any other. We had officers that were tactical genius at times. They made tactical descitions that had never been seen before…and enemy was taken by surprise. Battling from horses with sables. Even Russia were kneeling for us! In EVERY battle the king and the Karoliner soldiers were hugly outnumbered in thousands, much less artillery and always marching to the front….but nothing could stop them! We honoured our King like a god and fought for him with blood, tears and life! Our king were always seen in the first line on his horse, in every battle!! Insanly many soldiers never returned home to their familys back in Sweden. We lost 20% of our population. No war moungoring from me, just precising who this song was ment for
i was lucky to be part of their concert on 2nd of febuary 2020 in Oberhausen. This was my last concert for i guess a long time and boy o boy, this was an insane show, the live pictures compared with blockbuster like background clips for every song...its amazing. They just perfectly know how to make a whole crowd going nuts, or as in this case just singing their souls out
This song is just magical hearing it live, specially in swedish. When the whole crowd sings the lyrics all together, there isnt a better feeling in the world. I recommend seeing them live if you ever get the chance :)
This song hits you in the feels. First time I heard this song was the Swedish version. I cried. Couldn't understand a word of it, but I cried. Found the vid with the English cc. I had to watch it a few times because I couldn't read the cc from crying. Definitely my favorite song (so far) from Sabaton. Thanks for the vid, Tank!
Sabaton are my current favorite band of all time, so it always warms my heart when somebody else falls in love with them too! I'm not gonna write a novel this time, but I will say I loved the video, Sabaton are amazing live and I hope you can go to one of their shows after this is all over... you will not regret it! Their shows are the ones I always fight the hardest to go see. Also, glad to see you mention Sabaton History on this video! Have you watched the episodes about the other songs you've heard so far?
For this tour, they brought a videographer with them that shot multiple videos from the stage. I assume they mixed the video with the recorded audio from the sound board. The videographer has a credit at the end.
Very Nice vid😃! You got to watch Tommy (blond gitarrist) sing a ABBA cover "Money money money" - Swedish hits goes metal, he has a truely serious pipe!!! He also has a sideproject - a band called Majestica - check em out too. You dont have to react to this - its just something to get really impressed about😁. I agree with some other guys here - "40:1" or "Ghost division" (live at Woodstock 2012) ought be your next reaction from Sabaton. Thanks for doing the reactions👍- good vibs!
Love your reactions but I also like the fact that you give us the viewers so much fact about stage sets, pyro and such. And on top of that you know so much about instruments and different brands. I that is why your channel gets bigger all the time. Good stuff bro🇸🇪❤️🇺🇸
Swedish is really one of the best languages for poetry and lyrics, and Sabaton is really good at using it. Fun fact: Swedish is called "the language of honor and heroes" ("Ärans och hjältarnas språk").
@@pangling2217 You didn't know? It's from Esaias Tegnér. "Ärans och hjältarnas språk! Hur ädelt och manligt du rör dig! Ren är som malmens din klang, säker som solens din gång Vistas på höjderna du, där åskan och stormarna tala, Dalarnas lägre behag äro ej gjorda för dig. Spegla ditt anlet i sjön, och friskt från de manliga dragen" (1817)
Probaly the 10th time I watch this reaction or more... I do not feel good not beeing able to give a tumbs up every time. This was awsome, specially when you now know ( to one of your later reactions that Sabaton have around 100 crews incl the band) more about the bands set up and more. Just keep it up "Tank"! If C is not geting worse under this second wave I will go to a Sabaton consert in my home town in just a minute or two... Please let me have this one... Allready missed my chance to see Floor and Nightwish this summer at Sweden Rock Festival. You, my sir should come over the pond and experience the way Sweden do thier best festivals. And it is all about rock! :)
"The tank! Finally gets to see the tank." I can't get over that haha. Like you mentioned, due to the lack of marketing for European bands in our country, they'd probably never get a tank on the stage for us because they always get tinyass venue here. Hopefully the Warlando Fest next year we'll get to see tank!
They had a tank in the states for their 2019 tour. From the balcony seats I can't tell if it's real, but it seems like it would be prohibitively expensive to ship if it was. (Wanted to attach a picture, but couldn't figure out how. )
@@aprilvoecks5877 which show did you go to? I was in Ohio and Hannes did sit on a modelled something, presumably a tank but didn't look like a tank. But if you went to the Arizona one, there was a tank but a small one.
@@monstercookies2726 I live on the WI/IL border. It's great, since it's just under about hour for either Chicago or Milwaukee. I was at the Chicago show. The (standing only) floor and the (seated only) balcony were both included in the general admission.
Monster Cookies I went to both Cleveland and Filmore shows and yeah the modeled tank at the Cleveland show was the saddest ever. The one at Filmore was so much better!
@@yourpersonaldietitian8190 haha i was just kidding when i wrote that 'It didn't look like a tank'. I believe it was the same setup they used throughout the whole North American tour. I was just pinpointing the fact that there would never be a real tank on American stage, you know, the bigass one like they had for their European tour since they often get tinyass venues here.
Lets get some "Fields of Verdun" it's the story of the longest single battle ever fought and the actual origin of one of the most iconic one liners in movie history. Or "The Attack of the Dead Men" The story of the first chemical weapons strike in warfare and the defenders horrific triumph over there attackers. "40:1" is a song that will fill you with national pride for a nation that is not your own. It also has a unique element for production that I at least had never seen before so you may find that interesting.
That song... in Swedish, in Sweden... that concert must have been epic. And this song (but in a way, the whole Carolus Rex album which exists in both Swedish and English) makes me want to know more Swedish. I've heard many people say the lyrics in Swedish are much more poetic and poignant than the English ones. ... I mean, we have the subtitles here, but I think the words in Swedish must carry much more weight than the translation.
I know you're probably correct about the talk-back mic, but I kind of dig the idea that it's there for the fallen soldiers to join in with the song. Much how the vast majority of dining areas on US military bases have a seat reserved for the fallen or missing soliders.
I watch for the reaction and then the talk, the fact that you do most of the talk after is awesome. If I dont have time I can skip it and watch it later. Keep it on my good man!
Tank I really hope you do the official “red Barron” live video from this tour , the camera moves around stage more and you will see some killer production elements.
Saw this show in Antwerp (Belgium) and they had at least 6 trucks completely Sabaton-themed. I guess that counts as a big production? Took a picture that doesn't contain the entire parking lot and I can count 6 trucks and a bus.
Some suggestions for your next Sabaton experience: Night Witches, The Red Baron (live from Berlin) or anything from their Great Tour. There are plenty videos from that tour on RUclips 😃. I’d go for the Red Baron as they have an airplane on stage as well, next to the tank Hannes is on. But, it’s your show, your channel. 😉. And I just want to add that I love the videos you’re creating! So much info on the instruments, your experience and knowledge what comes into play with setting up a stage and all the work that goes into a show which I’m not aware of as a spectator. It’s cool to get educated on that stuff! It makes you stand out from all the other reaction channels that are out there. Plus you come across genuine, natural and sincere in your reactions. Not that other reaction channels aren’t sincere, but for some reason yours stands out to me compared to a lot of other reaction channels. Anyway, enough blabbering :P. Keep doing what you like and I’m looking forward to your next reaction!

Crying to Sabaton is a right of passage for Sabaton fans.

@@teskapylly I prefer the English versions but only because I don't speak Swedish.
No way! That’s wild! I wish your son strength going forward!

Hahaha. Nice!
Also, we appreciate the commentary. So we don't mind at all rewinding and pausing. And it's not like this is the only time we'd get to hear the song. If you know what I mean.
Keep up the amazing job!
@@SashaX19 yeah I don't like reaction videos where they just sit there. This is how I like it, I like when they give perspective and opinions.

I will say 40:1 gets extra points for being the song that got them honorary Polish citizenship (no really).

Thanks.

They tour with the whole stage setup. It is for the Album "The Great War" (WW1) and therefore the stage is designed to mimick a WW1 style trench. From the audience side it looks like a sandbagwall with barbed wire on top.
I bet your ass that any venue here in Sweden that hears the words "Sabaton will play here" goes both "Fuck Yes!" and "Oh Sh*t" at the same time.

First song on the list has got to be:
1) The Final Solution - it's about the Holocaust and the deaths that happened during this.
5) The Carolean's Prayer - kind of about the battle tactics the Caroleans (Swedish soldiers) were taught (March on until they saw the white in their enemies eyes)
6) Light in the Black - about the Peacekeeping forces (them leaving home, only to return not knowing if they'll be seen as heroes or monsters)
7) Purple Heart - this song is about the Vietnam war and the soldiers who fought in it.
8) The Ballad of Bull - this is the closest you'll get to an actual ballad by Sabaton and it's about Leslie "Bull" Allen who saved 12 men by climbing a hill and carrying every man one by one back down the hill
9) The Price of a Mile - it's about WWI and it's casualties.

Chers
Thank you so much!
From that same tour, they've got a few songs they played with Apocalyptica. Absolutely worth checking out.
No war moungoring from me, just precising who this song was ment for
this song always hit so hard and tears me up every time
i was lucky to be part of their concert on 2nd of febuary 2020 in Oberhausen.
That moment when the crowd takes over the band in song... Love it.
Yeah, I watch them immediately after the reactions. Such a rad idea and I love how they do it.
For this tour, they brought a videographer with them that shot multiple videos from the stage. I assume they mixed the video with the recorded audio from the sound board. The videographer has a credit at the end.
I´ve been waiting for this. This is one of my favourite sabaton live song ever.
I am Swedish and I love this. The crowd and The lyrics. Magiskt på riktigt Tack Sabaton. ❤️🇸🇪
Tank, in Episode 5 of their Great Tour Vlog Hannes talks to a bunch of crew-members, from the physiotherapist to the pyrobloke. Should be a fun watch.
I second this, would be a really interesting reaction to watch!
Love your reactions but I also like the fact that you give us the viewers so much fact about stage sets, pyro and such.
And on top of that you know so much about instruments and different brands.
I that is why your channel gets bigger all the time.
Good stuff bro🇸🇪❤️🇺🇸
Thank you! 🤘
Bro seeing to back, i was there live in Gothenburg and legit cried, such an amazing experience and i will be there on there upcomming tour!
Swedish is really one of the best languages for poetry and lyrics, and Sabaton is really good at using it.
Fun fact: Swedish is called "the language of honor and heroes" ("Ärans och hjältarnas språk").
I like that, but unfortunately I feel obligated to ask for the truth.
So if you can, could you?
Otherwise I'll just look it up for myself.😅
@@pangling2217 You didn't know? It's from Esaias Tegnér.
"Ärans och hjältarnas språk! Hur ädelt och manligt du rör dig!
Ren är som malmens din klang, säker som solens din gång
Vistas på höjderna du, där åskan och stormarna tala,
Dalarnas lägre behag äro ej gjorda för dig.
Spegla ditt anlet i sjön, och friskt från de manliga dragen" (1817)
@@SteamboatW ah, I see. Thank you for letting me know 👍
Probaly the 10th time I watch this reaction or more... :)
I would love to come to Sweden and experience a Sabaton show someday. 🤘
Cool that you picked a swedish version 👌
The Album Carolus Rex totally is my favorite album by them. Such amazing songs on there!
Thi is the best song i heard in my 63 year life!👍❤🇸🇪GOOSEBUMBS every time!
This is the best video reaction channel, you give us also some interesting informations and that's very cool! Rock on! 🤘
Thank you so much!
As a swede and a history nerd i confirm this song in swedish is an absolute masterpiece and yes, that goes for the whole Carolus rex album.
I was at that concert, it was fucking insane
I know you're probably correct about the talk-back mic, but I kind of dig the idea that it's there for the fallen soldiers to join in with the song. Much how the vast majority of dining areas on US military bases have a seat reserved for the fallen or missing soliders.
glad iam not the only adult male that gets emotional while watching amazing bands giving the greatest performances the world has ever seen
As a Swede listening to this song and to be able to understand everything is so amazing, there is tears every time this comes on
Tank: "If there's anything else you guys think i need to watch from this band next..."
Me: basically all the videos from The Great Tour
😂
I watch for the reaction and then the talk, the fact that you do most of the talk after is awesome. If I dont have time I can skip it and watch it later. Keep it on my good man!
today I was thinking "man, it's been a while since the last Sabaton"
Great🤘🏻
Tank I really hope you do the official “red Barron” live video from this tour , the camera moves around stage more and you will see some killer production elements.
Saw this show in Antwerp (Belgium) and they had at least 6 trucks completely Sabaton-themed. I guess that counts as a big production? Took a picture that doesn't contain the entire parking lot and I can count 6 trucks and a bus.
That song is so meaningful and beautiful! I'm sitting here as a danish sabaton fan almost crying every time I hear En livstid I krig, 🙌🙌
I was there, the atmosphere was electric! Best concert I´ve been to, getting pretty emotional watching this again =)
Thanks a ton for the kind words! Much appreciated!
