    My history teacher played us this song when we were talking about the WWII and that's how I fell in love with them. The best teacher ever, he still does that, and it's awesome. It's not only teaching but also showing students great music. Here in Poland we talk a lot about both Wars and this is very hard topic, but with something like a song it's a bit easier to remember things and understand it.

      Grateful for this and your teacher! Memory can fade away that's why we can use certain tools like music in a classroom to better understand things that can be somewhat boring!! A bunch of my coworkers have a hard time with this. Oh well, you can't win them all. I used to play the song Stalingrad from Sabaton when I talked about that battle. I realy like it's mood and hardness! Another wretched moment in human history but a very important part of WWII.
      The history of Poland in WWII is one of the great tragedies of the last century. Never Forget. Do widzenia

    As an example of how willing they are to go the extra mile: when they were building up to The Great War, they reached out to a Russian artist known as Radio Tapok or something like that and said "hey, we've got this song coming out about Russia in WWI. You wanna cover it in Russian and release it before we do?" And he did, and it was awesome. So naturally, when they played in Russia, they invited him onstage and played with him. Pretty epic.

    • @Handygamer
      @Handygamer 3 года назад +15

      IIRC, Radio Tapok had been producing Russian covers of their songs for a while back then. So ist wasn't just some coincidence they went with him.
      What I like best about this, is that it kinda shows how bands could use other artists, who cover their songs, to tap into new markets instead of copyright-striking them over and over again.

    • @skyshatter3633
      @skyshatter3633 3 года назад +14

      They gave him "Attack of the dead man" before it was released so he can do a cover of it and release it before they do. And later he returned the favor by giving them rights to do the Defense of Moscow which was originally his song

    I was married to a Polish woman, metal head as well, but new to Sabaton, when I introduce them to her weeks before a concert of them near us, she really got to love them and their music ("Uprising" is another song about the Polish during WWII). The day of the concert, before it, I surprised her with a Meet and Greet with the band where she could thank them for what theyve done with their music and for honouring her country. Then, during the concert, we were close to the stage and Joakim got to see her (not hard task to track a polish woman in a latinamerican crowd) in the crowd during this song and waved at her during one of the chorus. She got really happy and still does when she remembers it.

    Yes they do have more than a 100 in the touring party. A physio-therapist that looks after not just the band members but also everyone else in the crew. They also have their own catering crew traveling with them so they get the food they are used to, any time they want. According to Sabaton's Great Tour 2020 vlogs it takes about 4 hours to set everything up on stage, and you need to have a lot of people to get it done in that time. Start rigging at 8am, everything up and ready for first soundcheck around 12.30-1pm.
    Tank - While it probably would be very interesting for you to have a look at the 2020 vlogs (lots of pre-show, backstage footage and band members goofing around in general) you can not do that. There is at least one or more song mixed in as background music in every episode and you have not reacted to them yet. I'm sorry to be the one to give you bad news like this but that's the way it is. Cheers / B.

    Hey man, I absolutely LOVE your reaction vids to Sabaton,they are quite a big deal here in Germany,too. I guess if you're singing about Polish Resistance and Nazi crimes in some of your songs and German audience STILL (or even because of that ;) ) ,you're doing something right! SOme more suggestions from me,I think that don't get enough love in reactions,mostly. These would be "Hearts of Iron", "Winged Hussars", "The Red Baron" live from the great tour in Berlin(including a hammond organ,looking like a Fokker airplane" and maybe "Gallipoli" . Thanks four your time and energy for this channel,and welcome to the awesome world of Sabaton!

    I think this was the show where after that song was over, the crowd spontaneously started singing the Polish national anthem. The video cuts off right before they start.

    Real talk, if I were able to be at that show, I probably would've been ugly crying while headbanging during this song too lmao. I got into Sabaton around 2008-2009 when my brother showed me the album The Art of War and fell in love with the band. I've since seen them 8 times since their first US tour when they were still a 6 piece. One hell of a special moment right here! 🤘

    Great video, both videos are great, so it's a well deserved double reaction.
    If I'm not mistaken, the singer Joakin is of both swedish (of course) and polish families, so he surely relates to the pride the polish people must feel listening to it.

    The song that got me into Sabaton, to this day just amazing listening to it everytime.
    I love Sabaton and their productions. Saw them twice, one time a few years ago in Glasgow(Scotland) in a small/medium club and earlier this year(when shows were still a thing) in Oberhausen(Germany) in a big Arena. Both shows were absolutely amazing and I recommend to everyone to go see Sabaton whenever it's possible.

    You really, REALLY want to watch "Uprising" live at Woodstock 2012 (it's the official live available at Nuclear Blast Records channel). I was in that crowd and damn, even after 8 years I'm still getting chills. But that song also requires research - Sabaton History has a very basic overview of what happened, and it's worth watching before you sit down to do the reaction.

    Considering you mention history classes, if you have any interest in the history behind the events that inspired Sabaton's songs, and are interested in hearing a couple of anecdotes from the band themselves about writing or playing the songs in question, I highly suggest checking out the Sabaton History channel, assuming you haven't done so already. I'm not sure if it would be something to react to, necessarily, but they put together the story behind the songs in a condensed and interesting manner, and some of the band anecdotes are funny, inspiring, or just plain fun to hear.
    EDIT: Just got to the 'second half', looks like you have looked into them! Great!

    I remember my first song from Sabaton. Panzerkampf. A friend of mine showed them to me shortly before the release of Carolus Rex. Been my favorite band ever since.
    My favorite song from them is and will always be "Hearts of Iron". Shiroyama and Last Stand are close seconds. But the song above all that gets me and my friends pumped, is Swedish Pagans. I have wrecked my voice more than once singing along to it, both at their concert and at home with friends.

    No Tank, THANK YOU for your reactions! Its really awesome to hear you talk about the bands gear and to read the fact notes that pops up. Love it! And I got another double reaction you could do. Both Amon Amarth and Sabaton have done a song called Twilight of the Thunder God. Would be nice to see a comparison between them, if you could find any videos of the song.
    Thanks for doing what you do!

    I love your reaction to Wacken. Europe has great metal festivals. Wacken, Hellfest, Graspop, Download, Bloodstock, Summer Breeze. Where are you from? And have you ever been on one of those festivals?
    Two other legendary performances on Wacken:
    - Demons & Wizards - 2 songs - live Wacken Open Air 2019 (supergroup vocal Blind Guardian/ guitar Iced earth)
    - Dee Snider (ftd. by Rock Meets Classic) - We're not Gonna Take It - Live at Wacken Open Air 2015

      Haven’t been to any of those. I’m in the US, and I’ve been to some of the bigger festivals here, but nothing compares to the open air festivals in Europe.

    Two things: 1 I am super jealous of that Sabaton shirt. 2 Sabaton loves their fans. They have never missed a show. Once they played even when Joakim was sick and had no voice. Guitarists were ... umm... doing their best singing the lyrics and Joakim was there lifting spirits without a microphone.

    For the production quality (or overproducion I should say) you should check "SABATON - Great War (Official Music Video)". Its a mix of live stage shots and behind the stage clips with album audio. The amount of gear you will see there .... countless. This is NUTS.
    Regarding the Sabaton live show you should definatelly check one of them. And for the full experience you should do that in Poland ;)
    PS. Amon Amart Intro and In Flames Outro. I love it !

(p.s. in both amaranthe and live version you'll see gear, the original from sabaton is a lyric video with cool graphics) ;p
