In this video we talk the history behind the song, the sound and where it was recorded, how big of a production team was involved, and in case you forgot, I give you a reminder as to who Hannes Van Dahl is married to...

Sabaton: "We need a very good soprano singer for the end credits of our new song."
Hannes: "I have one at home."
🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha
Now I want a version of ”Angels Calling” with Floor on it.
@@TankTheTech Tuomas will send an hefty bill to Sabaton for all the singing Floor did 😀
Did you order the Pacific Blue Vinyl [US exclusive, ltd. to 1500 copies] or the Crystal Clear cassette [US exclusive, ltd. to 250 copies] 🙂
We have here in Finland Dusk Vinyl [Levykauppa exclusive, ltd. to 300 copies] and the Soft Grey Vinyl [Nordics exclusive, ltd. 1000 copies] 😕
@@TankTheTech Sulphur Ahoy is a christmas song from a swedish pirate theme band called ye banished privateers and i recommend you to react to it :)
I love that Sabaton took the words of an actual soldier who was there and interviewed many years later and he said. Silence I remember the silence.
The cross in the end actually exists. It's located somewhere near Ypres in Belgium. It's a memorial for the Christmas truce and was put there in 1999.
the actual cross reads:
1914
The Khaki Chums
Christmas Truce
1999
85 Years
Lest
We
Forget
Now when Pär came: 2021
I’ve seen this. One of my favorite memories from my last trip to the Benelux.
Memorials are not seen by an enslaved continent😞
as a belgian i can confirm this, it is indeed near ypres. It is written upon a wall tablet even as a side story for generations to remember
@@csnoob02 a shame that division is taught in place of history,& math is deemed divisive-by the same powers who finance both sides of the wars
I've lost count how many times I've seen this video and it still makes me tear up. Such a great song.
Yep plus puts respect to the story as well. That there was a bit of a positive that humanity can do good things
@@seanofarrell8896 and yet so tragic that a moment of peace couldn’t last
Same :)
you only tear up? i full on sob every time i hear it
Same and this song was my first taste of Sabaton
Finally soneone noticed floor's voice in the credits. I've seen So many reactions of this song. And so many didn't even watch the credits. That's just one reason why you're making the best reactions in my opinion. Love your stuff. Greetings from germany
Danke!
Knowing that Floor is married to Sabaton's drummer, I had a very strong feeling she was singing the duet at the end and I was right. Floor Jansen is a magical, empathic creature and I'm very sure Nightwish would have disbanded if Tuomas had not made that fateful call to her that day because there were no other singers waiting in line to join the band.
@@dieseldog00 I totally agree with everything you said. Her voice is beyond anything i heard so far. She was the best choice and i hope she belongs in this Band forever.
In fact Elizabeth in her channel The Charismatic Voice also recognized Floor in this song. I highly recommend her video. It is also a super great video reaction.
ruclips.net/video/AYYztsqhqWw/видео.html
@@firstclaw1 Yes I watched this video several weeks ago when I saw Elizabeth had posted her Reaction to it. I hate war and all aspects of it but this video is outstanding and the acting is phenomenal. I thought the piano in the trench was quite humorous but where else could they have put it, up top where it would have gotten bombed and shot up??? lol
As a Czech, I'm so glad that we produced such a powerfull music video for Sabaton. Had tears in my eyes.
Be proud m8!. Well done ..., by all of the Czech crew involved. It's a hard work. Greetings from Up North ... 🇫🇮.
Thou ... 1 spruce trunk shows markings of mechanical harvesting ... not invented back in those days, but is a minor flav. Not counted. 🙂
This is going to be a hell of a live song. I can almost hear the crowds singing along.
I'll never manage to keep up with Ms van Dahl-Jansen
With the right crowd this will be epic .... and imagine in perfect case, Floor comes out at the end and do their thing ..... it must be like an religious experience
@@oliverdonder7616 probably wont happen, mainly cause Nightwish is scheduled to be on tour during the same time. + the recorded version on the album actually doesn't have her vocal part
Getting pre-emptive goosebumps just thinking about it!
I like the thought of that. Not sure they are going to play that song when I am hopefully going to see them in April though.
The underlying piano melody in this song is "Carol of the Bells" and it really gives the song that special Christmas-y vibe that will make people want to listen to this around Christmas. Brilliant song and outstanding video production! Goosebumps and tears assured every time.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed “Carol of the Bells” in there! The other two reactions I watched noted the melody was very Christmas-y but failed to recognise that it was actually “Carol of the Bells,” specifically. My favourite carol.
This is _easily_ one of Sabaton’s best songs, hands down!
Thanks, I knew it was, but I didn't know the song title.
It’s actually Ukrainian Christmas folk song called schedrivka.
Thank you! I knew that was a Christmas song but couldn’t remember the name, you just saved me some headache 😅😎
It reminds me little of Orion’s Reign’s version of ”Carol of the Bells”.
I think this is the only Sabaton video I've ever seen where Joakim isn't wearing sunglasses. And honestly...it really drives home the emotion they're trying to convey. The Christmas Truce was a moment of shining humanity in an incredibly inhumane war, and this song really tells the story well. I can't wait for the rest of the album.
at around 6:38 you can clearly see tears start rolling and I'm not even judging. That is definitely a powerful song with an emotional history.
To top it all off, since it is a Christmas song and you should spend time with your family Hannes brought in his Wife for the endcredits. And it was totally worth it.
Would the song work without Floor? Yes it would but it is still a great touch.
Also I think you are the first that even recognized Floor from all the reactions I saw up to this date
Those are not the credits, that's the soundtrack version of the song
i was seeing the music video for the 4th or 5th time but was still tearing up myself :)
@@Johnny-xu7kb Those damn onion-cutting ninjas, right? :')
@@luffegasen7711 Helt klart! Vet inte hur dom tog sig in i min lägenhet!
just jen got it in her reaction too
when you mentioned the audience participation factor, in a flash i saw someplace like wacken, with an endless sea of fans shoulder to shoulder, arms around each other's shoulders hollering in unison 'and tonight we're all brothers, tonight we're all friends!' see it? holy shit this is gonna be big.
if they do this at something like Polen Rocks we might see Joakim burst into tears
Two things I am looking forward to after listening to this. 1. When they find the right crowd this song is going to be epic when performed live and 2. Floor Jansen had better perform in at least one live show with Sabaton!
this would be like an religious experience
Probably during their sweden tour. We love singing along!!
As far as I know, that outro with her was just for this music video, and isn't in the actual release of the song, so I'd say it's doubtful unless they closed with this song or did a big interlude or something. But it'd be awesome, that's for sure!
@@TankTheTech According to the lineup of the album, Christmas Truce is not quite the last song. There is one other to come afterwards.
Seeing how she is dutch, and I'm gonna see them in the netherlands, I have a sliver of hope. But probably not.
I love how Sabaton brings History and Music together. You feel not only their music but also almost the feelings of this time.
I love the subtle changing of tense in the chorus from the first refrain ("We are all") to the last two ("We were all"). It shows how optimistic and hopeful the soldiers were during the first Christmas of the War but by the end of it and in subsequent years, that hope was gone forever. Masterful writing.
I've watched this video multiple times and always with a tear in my eye. Just pre-ordered the earbook, and i'm already sitting on two tickets for March 31st in Munich where I will be going with my son. Not to take anything away at all from this production and the team, but you should have a look at the credit roll of Rammstein's "Deutschland". That credit roll is long enough for them to stick on a piano cover of Sonne at the end.
Enjoy Munich!
If you got a day to spare and an interest in technology check out the "Deutsche Museum" and/or BMW-Welt there.
@@Happymali10 I live near Munich 😊
@@Andy_from_de nevermind then
Deutschland from Ramstein is a masterpiece!!! 💯
We'll be there, too. Maybe we'll meet :-D
I just love that the production credits includes EVERYONE no matter the job they did. From talent on camera to technical assistants to physical labor of creating the scenery to the frickin' catering crew. I love Sabaton with all my heart
I was at the premiere of the song and i was so stunned on how emotional and how much of a banger is. Reminds me in some way to the lifetime of war as both as banger and both say a very sad story, one showing the cruleness of the www1 and how the christmas truce was a breathing moment for all, all being friends and brothers in that day.Lifetime of war was sad because it portrayed how the caroleans knew that their coming home was incertain. Kudos to you Tank and Sabaton
I agree it shows the dichotomy of endless wars like these two wars were.
I was at the premier as well, it was two a.m., I had just finished some homework and I saw that sabaton was premiering something so I started watching it. After the song had ended, I took a shower and I just started crying, I don't cry easy, it takes the death of a friend or family member to make me shed a few tears. I was bawling in the shower at 2 in the morning... I still get misty eyed hearing this song. This song is the only Christmas song I'll allow in November because it's a reminder that our humanity is what unites us. To everyone who reads this, be kind, and take care of each other. Thank you Tank and Thank you Sabaton!
I envy you! I would have probably cried like a toddler hearing this live for the first time, totally embarassaing myself lol. Probably I will, when finally I get to hear this on a concert live.
OH MY GOD YES the part where they drop the instruments is AMAZING and a HUGE audience participation!!! Just got back from seeing them in Seattle. Hearing the entire crowd singing just about brought a tear to my eye. Anyone on the fence about seeing these guys while they are in the US for the tour DO IT. It's an amazing show. This was the first concert of any kind I have been to, if I could have only gone to one in my life I thank God it was this one!!
Sabaton and Floor, what more can you wish for :)
Sabaton and *all* of Nightwish?
@@PyroDesu god damn it, I knew I missed something
Hello Tank
Unfortunately, war is as old as humanity itself. Sabaton repeatedly emphasizes that they do not want to glorify war. Rather, they would like to use your songs to point out the many, many senseless victims of the war and thus ensure that they are not forgotten. In my opinion, this video is a milestone for that. History shows that far too many had to die for the insane ambitions of a few. It shows the madness of war. For me, the key message of the video is "WAR IS BULL SHIT!"
Greatings from Germany
I won’t lie that I’ve been waiting for this topic/song to be made for as long as I’ve been listening to sabaton. I started listening to them when they released Bismarck and I’m so glad they were finally able to do the Christmas truce the justice it deserves!
Just a passerby whom has never seen your channel before, but your reaction is definitely my favorite by far. This song is so heart-wrenching and you're so clearly affected by it at the same parts that make me teary-eyed. Sabaton is an awesome band and I enjoyed this video very much! :)
Thank you so very much!
19:20 It most definetly will. We have "Heavy Christmas" consert every year in Finland. It mostly means traditional christmast songs revisioned into metal.
This song is one of my favorite Sabaton songs (top 3). My grandfather fought in France in WWI. He was 16 when he volunteered in 1916. He never spoke about it. This song never fails to make me tear up. This and “1916.” The war to end all wars. I wish. FACT: On the Eastern Front truces were tried, but because the Julian and Gregorian calendars are three days off Christmas didn’t occur on the same day. Unarmed Germans coming out of their trenches were taken prisoner by the Russians who thought the Germans were either mad or cowards.
I’ve been waiting excitedly for your reaction to this 🤗🤗.
It has blown me away, had me crying laughing and rocking.
Two of my great grandfathers were in the trenches at this time. My Scottish one wrote home about his experiences and hoe surreal and heartwarming it was. Some soldiers swapped addresses and kept in touch after the war.
Sadly my great grandads and a great uncle were killed in the trenches, my Scottish one received a posthumous distinguished conduct medal for saving an officer minutes before he himself was killed.
I loved how this song and video made me so emotional and told a personal message.
Love to you and your family xxx
P.s the cross is just outside Ypres in Belgium and was placed in 1999 on the 85th anniversary of these events.
Lest we forget. We’ve already forgotten.
Good song, and a good review - Thanks Tank.
It will be interesting to see how they do this during concerts, if Joakim will play the piano or not. It wouldn't surprise me if he actually does that, because as you probably know - or not - Joakim started in Sabaton as the keyboard player, who at some time was asked if he could do some singing too. According to himself (that story is told on the Heroes On Tour DVD that is about the concert with the half a million crowd at Polish Woodstock, a rip of it can be found on YT) his singing was crap but he kept doing it anyway. A bit down the road he heard the lads in the band talking about getting a new keyboardist and Joakim was saying "Hang on a minute now, I am playing the keyboard here". "Oh no no" said the lads, "You are the singer and we need a new keyboardist in the band".
Cheers / B.
Thinking about it a bit, I think Joakim came in to the band with a couple of songs in his luggage and the band wanted him to sing the lyrics so they could "get the feel" for his music. / B.
He still plays the keyboards in the studio.
"they told me to sing until they found replacement. Lazy bastards never did" - Joakim in Blood of Bannockburn Sabaton History episode
@@theblazinken3501 - Thanks for the tip, hadn't seen that episode before. Well worth a watch, as always. Cheers / B.
@@theblazinken3501 I remember that! He's also criticized his own singing quite a bit. He may not be a professionally trained singer, but his voice *fits* Sabaton's music.
Regarding the ban on Christmas truces in subsequent years: if I remember right, part of the story about the Christmas truce is that many of those soldiers refused to fight each other once hostilities resumed. Not sure if that's 100% true, but I was always told that it's part of the reason various militaries haven't allowed a Christmas truce since 1914.
I mean, can you imagine how difficult it would be to just start shooting at each other again? The enemy was no longer dehumanized. They weren't just a mass shooting at you. They had names, faces, families, they were *people.* They thought they were the good guys as much as you thought you were. Neither of you really knew why you were fighting when the man on the other side was so similar. Even if you didn't speak each others' language and there wasn't someone who could translate at hand, the mere act of coming together without fighting like that makes it so, *so* much harder to go back to fighting. They *empathized* with one another.
I suspect a number of the soldiers on both sides deliberately missed, after this truce.
@@PyroDesu Absolutely. "I played football with that guy, we had drinks and showed each other pictures of our families. He's my friend now; I'm not gonna shoot him." Not to mention that the first world War was such a mess of convoluted politics that many of these guys probably didn't fully understand why they were there in the first place. Many were really just kids (18-19), who'd enlisted because they thought war would be exciting, and/or because they naively believed the propaganda that "the enemy" was A Threat To Our Way Of Life. Seeing that enemy up close, talking to them and realizing that they were just regular people with many of the same hobbies, goals, and fears as you have, must have been deeply jarring for these young men.
By the next year Germany was using mustard gas so there was much less sympathy and no truce.
They enforced heavier bombardments and more heavy rotations the following Christmas and effectively cancelled Christmas.
I was waiting to see when you’d be doing this reaction :3 cannot wait to see it!!
Waited for Roadie Reactions to cover this vid before I watched it, and it was worth the wait. The song broke me when I first heard it, and yes, the video did too. This album is going to smash shit like a brick.
that was the legendary Floor on the ending vocals
When i first heard this with headphones on, the first couple lines, especially when it opened with "Silence, oh I remember the silence!", it seemed to echo, as if i was hearing it in my own head, not out of my headphones. The subtle audio work they do is always amazing and catches me off guard every time.
This song is the first song to ever put me in tears, because like you said, just imagining what it was like in their shoes, it is very emotional, touching right down to the soul, Sabaton puts a lot of time into there sounds, every song is top of the line, I love all their songs,
"You can finally add Sabaton to your Christmas playlist"
While I agree this is a great song for a Christmas playlist, Sabaton has BEEN my Christmas playlist for the last 6 years cause I'm not a coward
makes me wish that we all of us can get together and celebrate Christmas with Sabaon and with every british, french and german alike for this song makes me vision we can all unite and become friends while remembering those who fell and never made it back home and to show a more deeper meaning for humanity for peace, joy and love.
Sabaton makes Christmas Trees grow....Beards. News at 11.😊🎄👌👍
Hell, Sabaton has been my only playlist since I found them Summer 2019.
Yes! You've recognized the czech names so fast! Amazing! Greetings from Czech republic!
Both Nighwish and Sabaton are kicking of their European tour’s in Norway, soo looking forward to big live performances again and… I have tickets to both of them, how great aren’t that.❤️ Great reaction bye the way, loved this one. Thank U.
And my God, not many Sabaton songs make me catch some feels, but this one is it. Being a vet myself and the fact that my great grandpa fought in the trenches of ww1, grandpa fought ww2, and uncle that went to Nam, another that fought in the golf war, and a brother that fought in oif, I can't help getting a little emotional watching this music video.
To quote someone... "We're back baby!". Your Sabaton reactions are f*cking awesome. Great to see this one, was hoping and waiting for it. Keep up the great work, and I'm already looking forward to coming Sabaton reactions! Take care
Thanks a ton!
Great reaction Tank!
This song and video will bring a lot of new fans to Sabaton
Floor Jansen’s vocals add something special to this song.
LEST WE FORGET.
I ran across the first of this video a few days ago and suggestion keep popping up in my feed. I have to say this is by far the best and most informative review of this song I have seen so far. keep up the awesome work.
Thanks a ton!
A sad note that is often forgotten is that before the Christmas Truce was the disastrous 'Winter Operations'. This was an offensive launched by the British to capture German trenches and to stop fraternisation over Christmas. Overall it was a disaster with many British deaths and casualties and barely no land taken. During the Christmas Truce many of the bodies buried where off men who had died during the Winter Operations.
This song is very powerful, but at the same time the piano, phoenetics and the lyrics make it super emotional. I always get chills and feel like I want to cry.
I've heard this song maaaaaany times and I never considered myself to be overly emotional, but every time I heat this I get some tears in my eyes.
These guys have my deepest respect. Not just that their music is great, every song is a history lesson, they stick to the facts, unbiased. Education at it's best. I would recommend every history teacher played this music to students, thay would definitely be more interested in history.
This is the most complete package I've ever heard and seen. Music is just great, their delivery, the story, video is just off the charts. WOW! I ve never seen a music video like this. BTW, I'm a cinematographer.
Swede here who love Sabaton. Have seen that video SOO many times. You catch the emoutions of it so spot on. Cant wait to here it live and feel the power added by the audience :)
The moment the piano and keys hit, the tears immediately come. Sabaton touches the soul in a way I didn't think was possible.
kudos for adding the text for historical clarety. well produced vid in post production. respect the hell out of that
If you ever doubted for a second how great Sabaton is. Just think about this .. They just made a Christmas song, thats acceptable to listen to all year long.
Your not alone in shedding a tear Mucker. Lest we Forget indeed.
I was so happy to see Antti Martikainen mentioned. I feel like no one knows who he is but his compositions are incredible. Definitely worth checking out
It really happened, at several places, completely due to the soldiers, much to the chagrin of their leaders. This I think is the most important song released in 2021, in any genre. It's true and it's the message all humanity needs right now: that our humanity is more important than our differences. That it's inspiring and beautiful is just the icing on the cake. Even the credits are beautiful, good catch Hannes!
They are definitely great at using the stories from history and provoking the emotions through their songs. The video and sound production is just insane also which is what we have come to expect from Sabaton.
In the uk a couple years ago there was a sainsbury advert for Christmas that was the Christmas truce football game it tugged on everyone's heart strings its such amazing event
I don't think I will be able to sing along to this song. Tears will choke me after the first word "silence".
I teared up a bit when I saw this video for the first time. It feels like such an important song. I really hope they play it on their tour next year. Being part of a crowd singing that chorus will be a powerful moment.
Thanks for the reaction and praise of the Czech production.
Great reaction Tank! This has started to become one of my favourite Sabaton song of them all. It sure is up there with Bismarck.
Sabaton, Ayreon... How do we end this song... Floor! 'Nuff said! I do love this vid! Having known of this war tale since childhood... I cannot imagine a better portrayal!
Shit.... Makes everyone cry. Even my man Tank. Merry Christmas to come, my far away friend. Many love and hope to you, your family and the community from France.
Thanks for the reaction! We watched it with you! 🤘Also impressed. 💓And an excellent analysis of the song.🤘🤘🤘🤘🇷🇺
I'm from Czech Republic and I couldn't be more proud ♥
My boy Tank came through with the Christmas Truce! Thanks for this man, I am in love with this song. Most new Sabaton songs I have on repeat but I cannot stop singing and listening to this. Its beautiful.
Also thank you for reminding me who Hannes is married too, I am constantly forgetting. 🤣
"some of these guys didn't speak the other's language ..."
In 1990 during Desert Shield we were moving our tanks via truck to a distant location in Saudi Arabia. We had offloaded the tanks and were waiting around when a APC pulled up filled with French soldiers. Neither of us spoke the other's language but we used sign language .. one French soldier points at a big oil stain on the vehicle and told us .. "BIG SH*T" .. that was all the English he had. We traded rations and smiled a lot.
Sabaton does it again. Epic song, outstanding video. Love these guys.
It's an amazing video for an excellent song. As a veteran myself I may be biased, but I think the great irony is that military people, people prepared to die for another, are the most humanitarian people on earth. We want "our war" to end wars but here we are, at the whim of old men, young men and women still out killing other young men and women we don't know, and don't necessarily dislike..........God please let it end. There's a bit of trivia about the exploding piano at the end, pianos have traditionally been burned at the funeral of a significant military death......Sabaton blow the bastard apart, I love this!
FLOOR,what a voice, best voice in the world 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The sheer insanity of the first person to leave the trench. 'Is that music? Are they calling us? Eff it. I'm standing up.. if I die, I die'.
I thought No bullets fly was the most emotional thing I've ever seen. I was wrong! This is the most emotional thing I have ever seen or heard. Nightwish is already very emotional, but what Sabaton delivers here is out of this world. On top of that, you're one of the few reactors who recognized and praised Floor! Respect Tank. Keep it up!
No Bullets Fly and Christmas Truce both stand as the most emotional songs Sabaton ever did.
Want to say thank you for your videos. It´s always a pleasure to see your reactions. Greetz from Germany. :)
Floor's sister Irene duets with her from time to time and I am SHOCKED she wasn't included on this video singing that majestic song with her sister.
Everything you say about this band and its music is top drawer because THEY are top drawer, right up there with Nightwish.
This should be the new Christmas Carol.....Forever.
There is a German-French-English movie about the Christmas truce of 1914 called "Merry Christmas".
Tank, I have to say that your reaction to this song and video is the most honest, informative and emotional one I’ve seen yet.
Thank you so much, much love and respect to you and your wee family from fife, Scotland 💕🤗🏴
Man, hearing about how some soldiers weren't as trusting and opened fire on the peaceful soldiers is heart-wrenching.
Waited until now to listen to this song, because I wanted to see it with you. Was not disappointed.
I Love the MV more because the ending by Floor just fits in so perfectly.
Dude!! When I listen to the last part (opera) that was the first thing in my mind, that is FLOOR!!! 😁👍
Yes song touches the heart and soul, tears streamed here also. Epic song AND video. The candle at the cross made me very aware of the real event. And of course voice of Floor topped it. Greetings from Holland. Thx for the greatest reaction
Congrats! on the 100K could not have happened to a nicer guy! Cheers! Take care and be safe.
Thank you so much!
Dude, when it is time for "Seven Pillars of Wisdom"? Glad to see you are back on track! Sabaton Saturday was the highlight of the week!
I'm not a HUGE Sabaton. But this hits the mark...This should be a number 1 song every where. If WAP can be a hit then this should be.
I really admire, that you recognized czech names in the crew👏🏻
Man, I'm kinda disappointed that you didn't include the bagpipes and piano in the gear breakdown along with the harmony guitar. I think the piano, in particular, looks really interesting, almost guaranteed from the time period, and IDK why but the keys on it look peculiar (not 100% sure it's the correct word), like old wood or something? Still, it was great to see your reaction! Also, I'm just seeing that you passed 100.000 subscribers. I know it's a bit arbitrary and not really more special than other numbers, but still: Congratulations! ...and Merry Christmas, I guess :D
Back then, the piano key would have been real Ivory (white, turned yellowish with age) and ebony (black). so they would have looked different. Just another of the accurate details they got right.
@@phillee2814 that's so cool, thanks!
This was HUGE .... The level of epicness with this video is insane . Plus add some Floor magic at the end , and Bang ..... 🤘😎🤘.
Thank You !!!
Great, great Reaction, again thanks for turning me on to Sabaton…
Tank: I’m at a loss for words
Me: I’ll use your words - epic as fuck
It’s moments like the Christmas Truce that act as lights in the darkness. I will almost I tested up when listening and watching
Since it is a Christmas song after all, I swear there’s a modified metal version of Carol of the Bells. It’s a famous bombastic Christmas/ winter song
I’ve already seen the video. I knew Floor sang at the end. I was waiting for your reaction to that bit of the song. When you saw the credits mentioning Floor, your reaction did not disappoint
Also having Antti Martikainen is awesome.
Hi from Czech Republic! We are all friends. Very good song..
I cant wait for the new album. Im hoping "Race to the Sea" is awesome. Just a nice title imo
Fun fact: Hannes is married...nah jk. But real fact: not everyone stopped fighting which makes it even more special i think
Also, Mjolnir? I see you

Somehow, it feels like Sabaton managed to take some of the feeling from the few slower, more vocal/keyboard-oriented songs (like The Ballad of Bull) they have and mix it in just the right amount with their more standard style. It works, *really well.* At least part of that is coming from the inclusion of parts of Carol of the Bells, I think. And the subject matter is, of course, one of the most poignant moments in military history, where both sides (at least in some sectors) literally laid down their arms and for a time came together as just men who were in a horrible situation together and had a chance to escape it for a while.
On the topic of the concert, it's a shame that the Judas Priest/Sabaton tour was cancelled (I was supposed to be at Nashville too), but it's honestly an absolute *miracle* that Richie Faulkner is still alive. Most people who have their aorta rupture like his did don't even make it to the hospital - and he actually *finished playing the song, never missing anything, while pretty much bleeding to death internally.* Gotta give him credit for being dedicated. But it will probably be a while before he's recovered enough to get back up on stage.
More jabs, more myocarditis(sp)?& the rebellious hellraisers still lay down & take it instead of saying no. Hopefully his situation snaps people out of their volunteer enslavement.
"... I don´t even know the right words to describe that (the video)..." what about: Masterpiece?, I certainly feel it well deserve it.
How does an American recognize czech names? I am impressed, gj :D
A little bit from travel, but mostly from doing this content creating stuff. On our Discord, we have so many people from all over the world that I've really learned a lot about other cultures, and Sabaton has had some Czech related stuff before to, and I recognize names and letters from when I was doing research.
My first concert for this band was also unfortunately cancelled but stoked to see them when available again. Appreciate you letting your emotions show during reactions. Shows your passion for the music and message in a deeper way, which is why we are all here. Keep killing it sir!
Who likes the story should watch the Saintsbury’s Christmas advert from 2014. Why? You’ll like it too.
Very moving. Have watched it tens of times over the years.
Dude, the word you're probably looking for is EPIC! But then, this is Sabaton we're talking about here! EVERYTHING they do is ALWAYS EPIC!
First off: couldn´t agree more about this video, the song and the production, holy fxck! Haven't been a huge fan of Sabaton before (and I'm from Sweden btw), but DANG.
Now, I don't know if you've reacted to Deutschland by Rammstein before (couldn't find it in the playlist), but that production is even more impressive than this one, and the song is awsome.
Keep it up Tank, you got a new costumer here for sure!
Thanks man! And yeah, I've seen Deutschland, I just forgot about it in the moment. Haha
