- ET has learned T.J. Holmes had an affair with a former 'Good Morning America' producer that lasted for a few years before his romance with co-host Amy Robach. The TV personality has yet to speak out on the news of the past relationship with the producer as well as his current involvement with Robach. However, since the latter's reveal, a source tells ET the pair will not face any disciplinary action at work.

Totally agree. My thing is if the broke up down the road I am pretty confident one of them would leave the show. The last thing a person wants to do after a breakup is sit next to and engage with their ex everyday. Apparently the two of them didn't think of that either. I saw them on Friday laughing and joking. It's like really.... kids are involved and technically you are both still married. They showed their true colors that day only caring about themselves and no one else.

I am really torn on whether their romance is any one’s business given that no related party/ spouse is claiming that there was improper behavior prior to each divorce proceeding. While Amy started to move out last week, she was going through the typical steps of a civilized divorce. 1) they went to mediation (btw…as a family law attorney, I wish the news would do more segments on mediation and parent coordinators and conflict resolution than they currently do. I have had to search for nationwide networks coverage. Maybe Amy can discuss how mediation worked for her when things settle… 2) ABC has stated, clearly, that they were peers at the network so there was no power imbalance such as a boss with a subordinate. 3) if ABC has an HR department (it does) with clear rules as to WHEN to notify HR and HOW, if they ignored HR that can be an issue. iF HR policies are to notify them of any co-worker relationships within X days/ weeks and this imploded a day or two outside of that Hr, there may be some trouble, but not grounds for termination. 3) I find it difficult to differentiate thinking about them as employees and thinking about them as employees of a journalism company where credibility is a top tier expectation.
There is, however, a difference between credibility and morality. Their credibility may be shot if they have lied to the public or their employers. I had not read of any deceptive action in this relationship, but we, obviously, do not know. Morality..that feels very 20th century to me. They aren’t anchors of a religiously oriented channel. They rarely do stories involving domestic issues where their experience matters.
If they each took this week off because the Daily Mail’s invasive reporting accelerated each of their respective needs to find a place to live (Amy’s house went under contract between all of this so she and her hubby were both expecting to move in the weeks to come…not sure if Amy had a “where” to land yet ) or maybe they each also needed time to reinforce their relationships with their children, that is fabulous. ABC’s decision to just replace them this week without any information confirming their jobs are safe and that they are each on personal live “handling what employees do on personal leave in the US ever day”, that would have been helpful.
On a side note…I read dailymail.com when I want to understand more about that side of the globe, etc. when I read their first report on TJ and Amy, I just kept thinking this felt like a revenge story. Someone high up in Daily Mail appears to be getting revenge with either TJ and AMY or ABC, in general. The initial articles read like a gossip tabloid and were skewed towards accusing ABC of a coverup of an “in house scandal.” They continue to post updates and infer that the affairs may be much older than one would think or expect.
What a mess. If Amy and TJ are fired, suspended, or reprimanded, I think ABC owes its viewers (and shareholders) a significant explanation as to the legal basis for removing profitable and well liked anchors. When NBC fired Matt Lauer, they made sure they were brief and candid with the viewers AND they put no limits in the co-anchors reactions about the news.
IMO, the news company is feeding and refreshing the news cycle with the changes in who is where this week and last. ABC… if they are safe and fine job-wise, say it to us. It is the silence that worries longterm viewers and shareholders.

This is all unfortunate. There are always casualties after a split. I’d like to note that the headline mentioned T. J. Holmes and an affair he had prior to the one he is having with Amy. My issue is pointing him out as if he is the only one at fault here. Amy also had a previous affair. Didn’t she cheat with the very man she is separated from now (Shue)?? This, again, is an unfortunate and painful experience for the spouses left behind, but look on the bright side, they are better off without a cheater.
