Outstanding work. I just picked up my Stacato XL and i know before shooting it, I need to get that old stuff and dirty oil from it, clean it, re-lub it and put it back togetther and ready for the range. Thank you for the nice and easy vid,. very informative.
I really appreciate all these in depth videos on the staccato as others just seem like they just want to have fun with them(which is fine.) Also thanks for the holster review as well I was going to get the Ronin 3 but how you shown the shogun made me choose that instead.

This is an awesome handgun and will be my next STI purchase. I'm trying to decide between the P Duo or the XC. Dawson tool-less guide rods are great. I have one on my DVC 3Gun and love it.
These videos are tough to watch not owning one of these sweet pistols. I may need to get one sooner than later. Great videos!

Just bought the new 2011, first time buyer of the STI brand. I haven't had a chance to shoot this firearm yet but I am excited. Question i bought this weapon from Scheels sports store, the salesman did a great job of showing all the weapons that i wanted to see yhen i asked him if he was to buy one for competition what would he buy, so he took me to the STI area and i could not believe how smooth this weapon is. That sold me. I am a vet and was wandering if i was to have bought this weapon elsewhere would i have gotten a discount? Does Staccato have any specials for vets? Thank you for a great vid. I used your vid to break it down and clean it for the first time and lube it. I'll be going to range soon. Thanks again

I just got a Staccato P and had a hell of a time getting it back together because the Tooless guide rod did NOT want to stay seated against the barrel. There just isn't enough for it to butt up against near the barrel link, it just keeps popping free. Even if I tried holding it upside down, no joy. I found that I had to keep it in the captured state and all the way forward and somehow keep it there while also managing to keep the barrel link in place. Then, once I had the slide stop back in I could just rack the slide to the rear and it would uncapture the guide rod.
Same problem...brand new staccato P here and I CANNOT put it back together. I'm about to throw it across the room. Tooless guide rod keeps popping out of position. No matter what I try I cant get it back together. What do you mean by "keep it in a captured state"? I'm losing my mind here.
my problem is suppressing the spring and keeping it back while getting the pop up in place to remove it then once cleaned and replace hard to hold the spring suppressed to get the popup to drop down. I use to think the old 1911s were a pain to get apart and back together was a problem but those springs were way easier to suppress. old and arthritis in both thumbs makes it tough.
I just bought a 2011 marauder . It has a .355 barrel, what is that about?

I got it back together, but theres a barrel and a spring left over? ( just kidding)I am a retired LEO, and started with a revolver in 1980( in the stone age), finally we moved to semiautos , a P-226, I always thought 1911/ 2011 triggers were a bit light for law enforcent, when city of Miami PD went from revolvers to Glocks, they had several AD's ? I remember in a high stress possible shooting situation seeing my hammer on my double action revolver rise just a hair , and you see it, and ease off a bit, at the time of the Glocks coming in place of model 64's the guys were putting in super light Glock trigger springs in, big mistake for duty? How does Staccatto set the trigger on the P?or what thought goes into the single action break of the trigger? Great informative video,I learned some things I hadnt been doing ? Thanks
I CANNOT get this thing put back together. Brand new staccato p and the guide rod keeps popping up out of place. Been fiddling for hours and cant line it up and get the takedown pin back in. Please help!

Thank you for posting this excellent video. Just picked up my C2 Duo that was preordered 12/23/19. I cleaned it easily due to this video. I shot 200 rounds of target ammo today. It is amazing! Any recommendations for hollow point ammo for this gun? I have a lot of HST in various weights. Hoping to hear the Staccato eats that ammo.

@@108Performance just got my Staccato C2 DUO yesterday. I own a decent amount of Underwood 124 gr bonded JHP and 90 gr Xtreme Defender. Any experience feeding either of these two? I will be testing at the range ASAP. I have other guns that don't like the Xtreme Defender. Maybe due to the tip design.

My sti kick started with a guardian 2011 blackout w/ tree bark grip. From there I added a 2019 staccato p. Now I’m looking to add a third and I’m on the fence between the new staccato p or c2. If it were strictly carry, no brainer c2. But it would be mostly range occasionally carry. My question is does the new p shoot noticeably softer, nicer than the c2? Or am I not missing much passing on the new p? Thx.

Can you tell me the difference between the newer DUO system and the older? I have a 2020 P DUO and it has the older style plate (2 screws in the filler plate and rear sight on the plate is different). Is it just the filler plate that is different or is there more that changed? I see the one in the video is the newer plate. Thanks.
The iron sight plate is the primary difference, it has different irons on it.
Any thoughts on the use of internal extractors vs external on 9mm 2011s? In the market for a 2011 ish pistol, staccato, edcx9, dwx. I remember your e series article but that was some time ago. I've heard that, as 9mm is a lighter round, internal extractors last roughly twice as long as 45s but still require tuning where as externals are more plug an play.

The internal extractors on 9mm, due to less overall work load, last an extraordinarily long time vs .45 - so far easily 4-5x longer. Proper initial setup and fitting is critical.

Is there ever any reason to want to clean and lubricate the trigger bow, hammer spring, sear, all of those parts hidden in the grip area?
Only for extended service cycles and if gun gets fully wet/submerged etc. For most CCW and recreational users, you likely won't need to.
Should I use snap-caps for dry firing, or just have at it?
Snap caps are not required.

No, there's not enough room in the spring tunnel for that to work and have a decent spring in there. The Recoil Master stays for the C/C2.
Got my xc for my forty first anniversary and named it after my wife.

Are the tool-less guide rod and recoil master guide rod interchangeable on the 2019 Staccato P and Professional/metro model?
As long as you get one for a 4.15 barrel for a 2019 gun, yes. Nothing else changes
The Metro is a 5" gun and uses a Tool-Less guide rod and Govt spring. On the Staccato P, as long as you purchase the 4.15" Tool-Less rod and springs from Dawson, you can swap out the Recoil Master.
I just got my Staccato C2 today. Spent over 30 min trying to get it back into its normal function 3x in a row. Please give tips on how to reassemble it if you can.
What part are you stuck at?
@@Imahappygirl25 The part where I try to connect the slide. The spring kind of moves when trying to finally put it all together and I make a mess where I once again have to reassemble the spring because it moved. I kind of wish that I could just put the gun altogether on one try but I just can't.
@@edwinechevarria7958 Okay, I had some trouble with that part, in that the slide seemed to "catch" at a certain point and didn't want to go back far enough to insert the slide stop. I'm wondering if this video would be more helpful: ruclips.net/video/udr3_b4gwd8/видео.html because when I first did it, I didn't realize that I was inserting it at the wrong spot and was getting frustrated. Another option you might want to try is to call your local gun range to see if they have a smith on sight who can walk you through it.

Sending the slide home on a full chamber is fine tho ya? How u supposed to chamber the thing?
Slide velocity is reduced when chambering a round from the mag.
Just got my new P DUO. Resistance pulling the slide back is a lot more than my DVC-3. Is that normal? Just need to put a few hundred rounds through it?
Mine is the same way, loosened up a little after a few hundred rounds and a little more after a bunch of dry fire. I have a feeling the shorter slide (which means shorter spring) is going to make it stiffer as well.
By resistance, do you mean the weight of the recoil spring? Each configuration of gun will require a different spring weight. The DVC-3 long slide uses a lighter spring than most other guns.

For years I slapped the slide forward on an empty chamber? Then I saw Bill Wilsons video telling you not to do that? I stopped that practice but my Wilson Combat started having reliability issues; do you think its related? I havent done that with my Staccatto P?
If your hammer follows or your trigger pull has degraded, yes. If your barrel lockup has degraded, yes. Hard to say what else without further information, but send the gun back to Wilson and they'll make it right again.

Then the lady that runs customer service was nasty several times when her guys gave me conflicting info, it really pissed me off? I might sell my ULC and my WC Recon rifle . I believe WC, has become too big, and tries to do too much, instead of focusing what made them good at one time?I went to nighthawk, and never looked back? Thank you for taking the time to reply? Going to send it to nighthawk to check it out, refinish it,put in a threaded barrell and suppressor hieght sights and then make sure its right, I should just get rid of it, they made an enemy out of me?if I deserved bad treatment id admit it, but I did nothing but bring the conflict of info to her attention to know the right path?
Do you need to change the base plates if you get the 2nd gen magwell?
You should run baseplates that provide over insertion stop - current factory(Dawson) pads and 10-8 do so and work w/Tac Adv mag well. The legacy plastic pads are a no go.

ughhhh! i just cleaned and lubed the gun, im putting back together my Stac C, im doing all the steps and the damn recoil master keeps coming undone (yes its nook is pointing down towards the barrel, yes the link is out). Im sliding the frame and slide rails together properly, and then it gets to a point of resistance. I slightly push past that point and the recoil master pops out of place while the slide is on the frame (thus moving the link). Im moving it back and forth as you said and its still not lining up and it feels the Recoil Master is undone inside. please help. What am I doing wrong??
Once the gun is assembled, the recoil spring is not "coming undone" it is merely pushing on the link. You need to move the slide back and forth to get alignment of the link with the frame hole. You can place a pin punch inside to help capture the progress as you move the slide/bbl back and forth.

What about checking the half cock and grip safety when doing the safety checks upon putting the pistol back together?
Definitely good practice but he didn't pull the lower apart. I assume (and you know how that goes..) he did it this way to keep this video simple for people trying to learn the basics. Next video if he pulls the bottom half apart, he might go there. (Again assuming)

This was a *basic* cleaning video...there's tons of stuff we could check. I kept it to what folks might want to make sure is working after a basic disassembly - things that they could affect. This is a normal set of function checks for any semi auto firearm after field stripping and is also in line with common LE/Mil practices.

The trigger still feels nice and crisp.
You won't ruin it from doing that a single time. Just don't make it a habit and your investment will last longer.

@@108Performance no sir! I came here for professional advice. I just purchased my Staccato P. I lost my grip on the slide handling it in the store and the owner warned me that i could break the extractor. This is my first handgun. I've shot several handguns over the years and was never impressed. But I got an opportunity to shoot the Staccato P and was amazed by it. The trigger reminds me of my hunting rifle's trigger. This firearm is a masterpiece. I'm very proud to own it and am grateful for your advice.

20-50 motor oil! You can not overlube!
No joke... I own several fancy guns... and this one is the biggest pain in the ass to disassemble and reassemble. Truly my least favorite pistol. Still debating selling it to some relatives.

Q-tips! You can't clean without Q-tips..can you?
Q Tips are great for the radial lug cuts and the underside of the slide. They just weren't that photogenic, so they didn't get to star in the video.
