"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer."
Good ol' Javik quote, nice!
....and they answer yes because without it a trillion more end up dying because there aren't anymore enforced rules to war
Try asking them if anything matters. There you go.
Silence means consent
@@guardian-angel615explain cos now I’m curious
Lord Shimura: You have no Honor.
Jin: And you are a slave to it!
Jin's response gave me chills
They both have different ways
The canon ending for me is the spare ending. Jin always chooses what’s right. Not what’s convenient, self-benefiting, or easy. Shimura tells Jin his defiance will cause him to be hunted to the end of his days, but he doesn’t care. Because it isn’t right to kill a loved one.
“I have no honour, but I will not kill family.”
This is the best line in the game for me. Jin is not stating he has no honour. He is just repeating what Shimura said before. In other words, “you say I have no honour, yet you would kill your own son to please the shogun and save yourself.”
I killed him because of the white dye for ghost armor lmao
Well in Japanese culture is killing him is the right and honourable Choice
@@Some_Fucker it may be honorable But is it Right?
@@psykosav6459 in their culture yes yes it is
@@Some_Fucker do you think it’s the right thing to do?
Even though the no honor ending he didn’t kill unc that was still pretty Honorable to me I know I wouldn’t be able to do it
No, That was the worst thing he could have possibly done. Lord Shimura is without a shadow of a doubt going to be forced to commit seppuku by the ruling shogunate for his failure to kill Jin. You didn't fuck with their orders and fail like that without paying for your life.
And even if he's a samurai, I doubt he'd be granted a second (A samurai who ensures the man commiting seppuku is given a quick death by beheading) due to the fact that he was known to have a close connection to Jin. In short, he likely faced a slow and painful death due to Jin's refusal to end his life here.
@@tonsofregrets258 Once you enter postgame with the "No Honor" Ending, you have a quick talk with Yuna that confirms that Shimura is alive but probably wont come after Jin and her, however others will. This talk seems to happen after a couple weeks of the ending, since Jin has multiple gifts from his friends in his new shack and a new paint of armor.
Well you don't get the white ghost armor if you don't kill him so that isn't honorable to me.
@@jev2359 ? Is that a joke? Sorry I'm a bit clueless..
@@Eloux murder = crime
“Out final day together,it is beautiful” man I love that line
This game brought me to tears at the ending😭
I choked up when I realized it wasn't Shimura's death cries but Sakai crying.
I got the no honor ending...has to replay the game...didn’t know if this game had an honor ending...my ps4 literally heated and had to stop way too many times
Who else sat there for 5 minutes contemplating on what they should choose
Lmao
i did the real honourable thing and gave him his last wish instead of washing down his honour
@@vee_or_something
I agree
Its better for jin to live with the guilt from his actions than his uncle
I spare him for the first time with no doubt
i did lol. sat there for at least 3 minutes until i found out about the different ghost armor dyes. i instantly killed him then lol
Ive never played this game but the honour cutscene still brings me to tears
I Chose the Spare ending. I couldn’t bring myself to kill a character I had grown so attached to. As much as I would have liked to honor his wish I couldn’t bring myself to do it and hastily chose to spare him. Even though it has no direct impact on gameplay afterwards it definitely is a lot sadder if you choose to honor him. But at least he accepts you as his son if you choose to kill him. I think the true ending is to spare him because the game is called Ghost of Tsushima after all.
(Nods)
The game is called ghost of tsushima you are correct, but the whole story revolves aroubd Jin being tortured about his code of honor and about making his uncle proud. In the end, honoring his uncle's wish proves both to Jin and Shimura that Jin meant what he said "I do what has to be done" because it's the only way, not because he is no longer samurai.
I spared him because thats what the ghost would do...
If i had killed him. It would have been what he wanted. But thats not what the ghost is. The ghost does what is arguably right dispite question of honor
I choose to spare him because how is it honorable to murder your own family?
@@Professional_Ghost
Exactly,
For this story, the “honor” ending makes no sense
I have no honor but i love my family
Hello there
@@yobama7797 General Kenobi
so many goosebumps in this phantastic game .. the most memorable moment since John Marston's fate ..
It's interesting to see all the different opinions on the matter. I personally think honor is the best choice. Generally because this isn't honor and no honor for Jin but for Shimura, and he's a man driven by honor, he fought for it, was raised and taught by it and wants to inevitably die for it. Depriving such a man of his code and purpose is actually kind of horrible and would probably end up killing Shimura soon after anyway, be that by the Shogunate's orders or his own hands. Because to a man like Shimura, he'd probably be broken by the shame it would bring him.
I did your same reasoning
That’s not Jin’s problem
Deep down he doesn’t want Shimura to die, and the whole game was about him defying the Samurai code. So why the F would he do what the Shogun wants and have him kill his uncle.
He is above that, he doesn’t want to kill his uncle, his family. The “honor” ending is so dumb and will most likely be ignored in the sequel game
@@Indigo_1001because thats his uncle, he loves him and wants to respect his wishes for the last time even tho its a samurai and not a ghost thing
We always keep forgetting that this game always did have beautiful scenery whether it is the devastation or nature's beauty
Lord Shimura was a Jedi, while Lord Sakai was a grey Jedi.
His usage of poisons would push him to more Sith territories, even his ghost stance is one fueled by his inner rage. But he definitely blurs the line.
Joel. I disagree. He he put his status on the line to protect his people. He could’ve easily allowed them to die, so he could maintain his rank. That doesn’t sound like a Sith to me.
@@davonbenson4361 And Anakin betrayed the Jedi orders to save Padme and to try to save his mother. Feeding on the fear and anger of losing something you hold dearly is a Sith thing. The Jedi/Samurai would push to maintain a calm mind. Grey Jedi isn't really a thing, just someone who blurs the line, and his action definitely lean more to Sith
Joel. Jin sacrificed his livelihood for people he didn’t personally know, while Anakin only made his sacrifice for Padme, which make his actions far more selfish than that of Jin’s.
@@davonbenson4361 And Revan sacrificed to save the Republic, even though the Jedi forbade him from joining the war against the Mandalorians. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to the dark side. And Jin was definitely filled with hate. Now that the Shogun is after him, what is he going to do. Is he going to surrender or try to against the entire Japanese nation?
He made not have stood up to the honor Shimura wanted or the clan viewed, but in a way I think Jin found his own honor by fighting for the people of Tsushima no matter the cost. Their is definitely honor in fighting for what is right and defending those can’t defend themselves. War is about more than honor, and the samurai and shogun be all dead if not for Jin lol
Omg, this is heartbreaking. the Voice Actors and animation here is top notch. It plays wonderful with the emotions and the music help there a lot. a blockbuster film as a video game. Well done. I must wait for a PC release. because my console died on me. More more of these "The Witcher 3" Games
They have a name, RPGs, though The Witcher 3 is an excellent example of a western RPG, and if it's any basis on the studios ability, Cyberpunk 2077 will be one of the most important games of the turn of the decade. Just like how Demon/Dark Souls and the other soulsborne games have defined the way action-RPG games have been made for this past decade, Cyberpunk may redefine games again for this following decade. Then again it may not, who can really say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The acting was seriously impressive in this game, leagues above anything the Oscars produce!
You should play Red Dead Redemption 2, you will love it
playing him in lethal+ inspired me to put an end to shimura clan.
people saying the honorable way was not to kill him, i haven't played the game but from what i gathered here, the honorable way and honestly the right thing is to kill him, these two were willing and fighting to the death for what they believed in, you need to end the fight and respect his decision.
I just played through this game for a second time and while watching this scene I realized there may be some foreshadowing here. Before Jin and his uncle ride off, Jin states that he would sacrifice himself a second time while Lord Shimura declares that he will spend the remainder of his life ensuring the Mongols never set foot in Japan again. This foreshadows a second invasion which we all know actually happened in real life. The ending of this game sets up a perfect sequel set in the time of the second invasion, with Jin being an outlaw and his uncle either being dead or alive( I don’t think it matters which one). Lol maybe I’m just thinking too deep but that’s my take.
Thats why i think sparing Shimura is the canon ending:
- First Act: Trying to survive Shimura's Hunt for Jin
-Second Act: Mongol Invasion
-Third Act: Dealing with Shimura one final battle, then defeating the Mongols again
God this ending is so god like coming around full circle from where they first spar and to their last duel seeing how jin has abandoned the rules he was rise by to save his home its just so perfect
What a masterpiece of a game.
"Grant me the honor of a warrior's death"
You don't have the attire of a warrior, but one of a father and lord. Be spared this beautiful visage, for I'd only be a thief to rob you of it. Man, I love this game and everything it has to offer.
I always chose to end shimura out of respect, but also I understand how bad medicine is at this time. That slice across his gut is life threatening, so he's most likely going to die either way. Might as well give him the swift death he desires
Jin survived worse so shimura definitely can survive
Sparing Shimura at the end was the most honorable dishonorable thing ever done in this game. Great ending to an epic story.
It was so heartbreaking to see the final duel is between Lord Shimura and Jin. Kotun Khan was a harder fight with all the fodder enemies taking the space. Jin grew so much during his journey that his uncle was no match for the “monster” or the “ghost” that Jin became. Could be the presenter had it on a lower difficulty. But still. It speaks volumes that Jin could easily dispatch his uncle after all he suffered and lost.
Lord shimura was the easiest boss I played against while having normal difficulty but also because I had the ghost stance and the full L1 R1 move so I beat him in like five seconds
On my lethal play through Shimura was no joke. That fake-out unblockable attack is a one shot. Khotun had way more predictable moves and couldn’t counter dance of wrath (Shimura could). I think it would be kind of funny if you could use ghost weapons and melt through duels without honor and let you accept the ghost role more. Maybe some different character interactions or something lol
Best game I’ve played since red dead. The whole story mmm *chefs kiss*. One thing i recommend though is playing with all the dialogue set in Japanese, the characters sound more badass and it jus feels right.
14:52 I will miss our conversations......
15:20 Perfect..... 😢 They are all.... perfect.......
Exactly how I felt during this scene.
For me is to spare. Because in the mid game and the last father and son fight was all about following the baseless code of honor and obeying the shogun - it's literally what the game and ghost is about.
Also the final dialogue:
"You have no Honor... And you are a slave to it"
And the endhing where he reminds Shimura why he fight... "I have no Honor..." And he won't kill his family for that same honor code he was against.
This scene was ruined for me because I accidentally glitched the cutscene and made Jin invincible and it was just a sword talking to lord shimura
I don’t know if I am right but the arena with the leaves look like the Yang Yang symbol with the white leaves with a bit of red in it and red with a bit of white this game is so poetic
Bro....we need a dlc pack that extends the story so you can kill the Shogun, cuz fk the Shogun
Where the FUCK my Shotgun
I’d really like a sequel with the shogun as the main antagonist and his stickler mentality corrupts him further as the story progresses up to a point of becoming unrecognizable to the samurai
Need the shotgun for the shogun
In Sakai Jin’s shoes, I don’t know if I would deliver the honorable coup de grace he wanted and be bawling my eyes out the whole time, I mean who the hell wouldn’t be in tears, or spare him, tell him the island needs him more than it needs me, and disappear to Iki and go into hiding after dealing with the Eagle Tribe.
I feel like the honor ending is the good ending if you think about it plus the dyes you get implies it
You get dyes either way just different ones and in my opinion the whole point of the game is showing how he has honourable intentions but attain them with dishonourable ways. Plus the ending scene where he walks away and puts the ghost mask on is more powerful than him crying
I absolutely love how Jin tells his uncle he's a slave to his bullshit samurai code after he's told he doesn't have any honor (like no shit, he saved the entire fucking island. I get the fear that the peasantry could revolt against the samurai and overthrow the shogunate but you're willing to throw your men's lives away for the fuck of it, so shut your ass up about honor when you clearly have none); I think there's a flashback where Shimura asks Jin what he thinks is honor and Jin says that his textbook definition of it, is literally just saving innocent lives (one of the many things he spends the entire game doing)
Thats what the try to serve us ... The no honor endings is the honourable ending ... ❤❤❤❤❤ Loved the game
I cried. And cried and cried after this
This is the moment Walter White became the Ghost of Albequerque
Crying throughout the credits because I did what Shimura wanted.
This game gave me feeling I didnt know I had
Honor ending in Japanese dub is the TRUE ending in my book. In my mind it was like “this is the last time I’ll ever follow this code. Just out of respect for unc I’ll kill him, but after that, I’m the ghost.” Then the fucking cry at the end had me in TEARS
Spare 4 me, jin is a ghost not a monster
This game made me sad
06:00 imma leave it here
I honestly "regret" not choosing to kill lord shimura, idk the acting made it just so much more powerful and meaningful, letting him live is cool but Jin just walks off and thas it
Somehow i hope in 2 game shimura appears i have a bit of hope he will see the truth behind jin action and see he is a man of honor
It's a pretty Cool and good game Plus I Love Japanese fantasy lore and history and hopefully it gets a sequel
Man if Ghost of Tsushima would've come out in 2021 instead of 2020, it would've gotten game of the year and Daisuke Tsuji would've gotten best performance, easy.
Where men cry
what are the chances he actually walks away from that deep long gut wound? he's alone, and the horse ride back to town would potentially kill him. also, he's under direct order from the shogun, failure will probably result in death anyways.
i have no honor ending is canon, he wore the mask and left.
You are the amazing player
no YOU are the amazing player
No, you are all breathtaking
No, WE are the best people
They've confirmed the spare ending is the canon ending for the sequel.
I don't think that was the best decision in storytelling terms.
I thought of all the possible scenarios of his future. Shimura would always be looked down by the Shogun and the other samurais as they might believe his defeat means he's not truly commited to capturing Jin, not to mention he could become bitter over time by seeing more people join the Ghost, leading him down a darker and more dishonorable path than Jin's. With the difference being he can't justify that path, since there's really no greater evil to be defeated.
Besides, throught his death, Shimura would leave behind a legacy of honor. And Jin could use that legacy to one day bring balance to both the samurai code and the Ghost's tactics.
So either way you have to fight him? Then you may as well have no honor
I should have never watched the Kill decision.....😭😭😭
Fight with honor nothing more
To me, the no honor ending is the best one;
Honor ending is the best hands down, although the Ghost ending Canon
how tf did you get through the whole game playing like that
Almost broke my TV and PS4 doing this dual smdh. The fighting in this drives me insane
Does the game also end when you die in the duel
I choose the no honor ending,bc i could not kill him.
I killed uncle because I pissed so much as I was constantly slayed by an old man in Lethal mood, die unearthly amount of time that I really can't remember. God of war mood's Sigrun is easy compare to Lord Shimura.
I think the honor one is the best option.. why? cuz Shimura know that he will die no matter what... killing the Ghost (Jin) was the Shogun order which mean if he fail he MUST do the Harakiri = death.. Shimura can't kill Jin cuz he loved Jin so much.. this fight prove that Shimura still love Jin.. if he want to fulfill Shogun order he will not confronted Jin at his house rather send an army and kill him.. but his not he rather die by his son the one he love the most.. so if you spare Shimura I guess it's the worst one... why? cuz he died in Shogun hand rather in Jin hand.. Jin said "I will not kill my family" ofc he's not killing Shimura but Shimura will die eventually.. not because his wound yeah.. it's shallow cut alright.. if it's deep we can see much blood than this across his Haori and he will die instantly.. Shimura will die cuz he fail fulfilling Shogun order and do the Harakiri... its not like you western yeah.. when you fail to succeed the Commander order you can try it again.. no.. especially at that time.. Shogun are not just a man He is a God so Shogun order = God order..
The truth is the Honor ending would be the best becoz the medical facilities back then probably wouldn't be able to handle Lord Shimura wounds from the battle condemning him to a slow and painful death by infections.
But one could always hope that by some miracle, he would ward off infection & recover to perfect health 😢
To anyone who killed lord shimura: why did you choose that over letting him live?
Whatever shred of honor Jin had left, Jin gave it to honor Shimura’s last wish
It's cause he left his father in his time of need, he couldn't do that again to his uncle when he needed jin
It was a really hard pick, but when he told me to give him a warriors death I felt like I had to honour that ):
It’s felt more Emotional and he asked you to honer him and it felt more cannon to me
@@lurb4206 but it kinda goes against Jin’s whole revelation that the samurai way is broken because of their idea of honor he gave up his honor to ensure that no more samurai died to the mongols yet he’ll go back on that sentiment and kill shimura imo it makes more sense thematically for him to refuse the samurai way here too if it means his only family gets to live
Anyone not playing in Japanese with English subtitles is not getting the full experience
Thing is, even if you spare him, Lord Shimura probably commits Seppuku.
No, he is alive. The end game stuff gives you answers.

I cried at the ending just like when Joel died in The Last of us 2
Sad

It's literally the same ending
