Excellent video!!! I think Trey will do well posting a RUclips channel. I learn so much from OTL...especially "new" or " different" ways to handle, prep and cook your afloat harvests. OTL is now my favorite channel of over 50 outdoor channels I follow.
My wife grandfather was born in a trapper's cabin in Terrebonne parish and trapped and fished for a living all of his life, my wife and I lived next door to them when we were first married, and we ate some very good dishes that were things most people turn away from. Choupique was one of my favorites either fried or the patty's another was gar fish in Boulette's or patty's. Love the videos Jarred and the south Louisiana flavor by the way a palanc not sure of the spelling is a trout line we used to put out 2 to 3 hundred yards of them baited with salted pig ears when I was akid with my great grandfather for crabs to sell. good cajun memories.
Dude I love your videos! Trey said something in this video that made a whole heck of a lot of sense, “if you don’t know how to cook it anything will be nasty”
Catching up on your older videos. Good catch clean cook video. Your friend knows what he is doing. I liked hearing him talk about his grandpa. Keep ‘em coming.
Great video.. I am from here and grew up not far from Chackbay , I was always told the mustard helps to flavor it because some have a mud taste. The mustard takes that taste away. I haven't been fishing in years now and miss it. We use to use cane poles instead of rod and reels and it was more fun for me. I tried the rod and reels but the poles were more fun..
I am afraid to show any type of cleaning because there have been cases where RUclips demonetized us for that. But fillets out just like any other fish and no you do not have to bleed it
my dad was born in morgan city but moved to shreveport when i was born, he called them trash fish my whole life. when i started dating my wife my father -in-law heard me call em trash fish so he took me fishing for em and we had sandwitches also fantastic. blew my dad's mind when i went to visit in shreveport and we caught a couple and i fried them for him that night haha. thanks for making a video
Y'all got me subbed !! CHOUPIQUE are good eating !! I've been knowing this for years n years !! I got a buddy will trade Bass, for CHOUPIQUE !! They will flat tear u a good Topwater bait too !! Them teeth are nothing to mess with !!
I know its old video, but I presure canned one years ago. In the jar this fish looked like some pics of pink salmon, beautiful. We have canned them all, catfish, crappie, and grinned, thChickanic ats what we called them. Open the jar, mix with spices, meal and make patties. Good to go.
My Mother's family in north central Florida would trotline 'em out of the Alapaha river to add to a fish fry. They called them jackfish. They considered them to be a delicacy. I've eaten a fair amount when I was a kid and thought they were really good.
Bowfin or Mudfish as we call them in Florida & I love eating Mudfish. Here in Okeechobee Florida we Jud Line With 400 Hooks 3/4 ''s of a mile long Here on Lake Okeechobee. We rig them out way different Here. I gotta try it the Cajun way.
It breaks up no problem pressure I like this video need more like this I salute I'm from Louisiana houma Eastside I fish all day when I'm home from offshore
Good stuff fellas! I’ve caught countless choupique while bass fishing in the marsh. They love red Shad worms or anything that resembles a crawfish. I never ate them before, I wonder how it would be blackened in some butter.
From Houma, La been I’m 37 years old been eating choupic all my life my great grandparents ate choupic from Thibodaux and vacherie. Still can’t believe people from south Louisiana is still sleeping on choupic. I remember when people would only catch the fish for the eggs for Cajun caviar
Jared you blowin you bruh jumped 10k subscribers in like 2 months, congratulations dude! Anyway was cool to see Trey on here watched a ton of his stuff on TikTok. Them choupique the way to go!
Bruh! I appreciate the support as always. Yeah the Nutria video went viral so there was a big jump there. Now if I can just get some love to all the other videos lol.
Oh yeah… cypress trout done right. Those smaller ones eat better in my opinion. I caught one a little over 10lbs last time I went and it was the first one that had an off putting flavor. Of course it could have been the water we caught it from too. Great video as usual, love that you do what most people don’t.
I remember my brothers-in-law used to net-fishing them on Hwy 20 by Gibson back in the good old days. They brought them home to cook like when it was back home(VN) but it turned out they didn't taste like that Snakehead at all.
you can also catch them on spinnerbaits while bass fishing, but you better have good equipment because they will tear your stuff up and lots of spinnerbaits
Hell yeah! Jared linking up with Trey is probably my new favorite video!
Big things coming for this group
@@OutsidetheLevees 🔥🤘🏼

Mustard won"t help
Show how to clean it. I’ve also heard to bleed them don’t know if it would help or not. I heard it is good baked
I am afraid to show any type of cleaning because there have been cases where RUclips demonetized us for that. But fillets out just like any other fish and no you do not have to bleed it
Great video!!!!! We catch Dogfish up here in Iowa on the Mississippi and have always thrown them back. Might have to keep the next one.

I remember my brothers-in-law used to net-fishing them on Hwy 20 by Gibson back in the good old days. They brought them home to cook like when it was back home(VN) but it turned out they didn't taste like that Snakehead at all.
