Tool trucks are a dying breed. Especially Matco . Who wants to pay double for rebrands

The tool business is an extremely hard, stressful, and capital heavy business to get into. I don't recommend it to anyone. Worst part is collection of your money. Mechanics are not known for their honesty and integrity

I was once a Snap On dealer, worse financial decision I ever made, lost so much money. Everyone is now going to the less expensive tools because they are now the same quality and the warranties are the same.

It is a lot to take on I was a multi franchise employee for a company that owned multiple snapon on stores. I didn’t feel the company had my best interest or the customers best interest at heart. I do feel strongly with Matco and feel they are a top competitor to the bigger name at half the age of snapon. It is still growing and will take time but they look after the dealers better than others and feel the opportunity for growth .

I always suspected this was true. People do not want to admit that the only reason that tool trucks still sell tools is due to the ego busting guys who believe that its still 1960 and you have to buy "snapon" to be a real mechanic, that is simply not true anymore. You can get tools at harbor freight, specifically ICON brand or pittsburgh pro that are just as good of quality and can be warrantied out on the same day, usually within an hour, which is faster than waiting for your "tool truck" to show up, and half the shit you break they do not even carry as normal inventory on their trucks. Also most tool truck guys are in debt up to their eyeballs and they are always taking on more debt to buy more tools which the big companies demand you do.
