Lmao that’s hilarious where the guy’s dog chewed up his credit card. I worked with a guy who used to hide in the bathroom whenever the tool truck came by, one day the tool guy heard about the guy hiding in the bathroom and he threw his bill under the stall. Classic
Bought my first tool truck tools on Friday from a Mac truck. New 30” breaker bar, 3 inch 1/2 drive extension and 16”oz ball peen hammer. My son bought a 3/8 drive flex head ratchet. The only extension he had was in a set, pulled it out of the set and sold it to me individually. Great service for a non-pro first time customer.
I've never been a fan of MAC tools, as I've said before, but after watching this video I think I will give my MAC guy an honest chance. Thanks Clay for opening my eyes to this side of the mechanic life.
Sad to see bill go but I hope you can still find a way to create content with him! Great video as always. Thanks for all the help, as a beginner tech it’s very nice to learn from senior guys.
You make a great point when you bring up the fact that alotta times we can get something cheaper on Amazon....but Amazon don't come to you and I would rather support a local guy too.....now that you brought up that point.
If I may add: the tool truck driver won't sell you a used tool that was advertised as new, nor will you need to worry about getting a fraudulent tool. Plus, we all know that good service is invaluable. Support your local businesses/tool trucks. They're part of your community, their kids go to the same schools as your kids and quite possibly support the company you work for, too.
Yeah but my tool truck guys are wayyyyyyyy off on amazon prices for non took truck branded tools. Like gearwrench or grey pneumatic, these guys want literally double the price of amazon. Idk why they are so off the price but they better start lowering their prices. Wait till amazon offers warranty’s and 1 day shipping. I want to support my local guys but I’m not paying $300 for a socket set or ratchet set that cost $150.
@@arenaissanceishman6689 How about you try this pay your Tool Guy upfront 100% of the tool like you would on Amazon and I guarantee you he’ll give you a much better price. The problem comes into play when you expect the same price as Amazon and want to pay on it weekly, the tool truck has to buy the tool and then finance it to you with no interest and wait to get paid. The only way the tool truck can make any money and minimize the risk is to literally charge double. Buy and pay like you would on Amazon and you will get pretty damn close to the same price as Amazon if you have a half decent tool truck guy
In 87 I started at a dealership (was working at smaller shops previously) and although I bought Mac, Matco but I primarily bought Snap on. I purchased a box in late 88 and of course had a running truck account. When I moved out of state in 89 I still owed about 600 truck plus my box. My Snap on dealer asked about continuing to make my payments but we changed it to monthly. In two years I had never not paid him on time so he knew he could trust me. Within 4 months I paid everything off. The relationship you develop with your tool man is honestly priceless. He helped me when I needed it, allowed me to "over extend" the weekly amount at times and I made sure to not only pay the minimum but work to get my account paid down.
Great video to a small sample of what someone is going to be doing if they decide to run a tool truck thanks for that guys great job mike keeps that truck looking going and stocked up good have a awesome one fellas 👍🏻
Mac was my first tool truck tool I ever bought. Didn't work in a shop yet and the salesman ordered it for me. 1994 he's retired now and we're still friends today.
My Mac dealer did the same thing with the digital caliper and micrometer I was bummed I thought I missed out on it and he’s a new guy only been coming around 3 weeks now. I love Mac tools! You should get a macsimizer 7530
God bless you ! it's more involved than selling tools. you offer convenience ,you give free warranties , fix parts, you save time, you build relationships, and have fun doing business , all in 12 hours, or half a day.. Wow! each day is an investment and gamble !
Now that would be a fun day to spend all day on a tool truck and it goes to you show us how much they put in to there work. hell there are some trucks that are the road by 5:00 am and get to do it the next day and if they take a day off it takes two weeks to catch up. Clay this was GREAT video Thanks 🔧🔧🔧🔧
Man I was looking into buying a snap on franchise a little while ago and they require atleast 1 ride along and it was a long day of work definitely a lot more than just driving around and selling tools. I didn’t end up going that route wasn’t for me at this point, still enjoy wrenching and figuring things out on vehicles for now, I am glad I got to experience it though.
hi clay. i absolutely loved this video! i think this was the best video ever! great idea on your part. i really hope you may consider doing it again with matco or another dealer, or mike again. thank you ...cheers
I got to give credit to these tool truck guys, not only do you have to make the sale you also have to collect the money. I don't know why these companies just don't team up with a credit card company for tool truck credit that way if they don't pay the credit card company could deal with them. It reminds me of delivering papers as a kid I had to deliver the paper and then turn around collect the money every month too and it was a pain.
Of all the tool truck tours I have watched on other channels and most of them I don’t watch any longer aside from this one, Jeremy Haasl, and a Feller over in the Mother Country; nobody else has spent a day like this. I told my Better-half I would like to work a tool truck because I like dealing with people. She is adamant that I retire from my State job first which I am well beyond having my fill of anymore. I have a few more years to go.
Could You Imagine A Snap-On Truck, The Size Of This Truck And Stocked Completely Full With The Different Varieties Of Tools In Quantities Of Each Tool Like This Truck! It Would Probably Have A Couple Of Armed Guards On Duty Constantly, And Be More Valuable Than A Loaded Armoured Truck 😂😂
Good behind the scenes video. a short view of booneville. I used to work at a place that told the tool trucks to head down the road and never come back. The company suffered not the tool trucks.
That was interesting. I had an deal this week on a Craftsman return that made me understand why the professonal tech perfers tool truck tools. It was a pain to do the exchange to say the least
Travis Mitchell that’s why you guys buy that stuff. If I made my living as a tech I would too. Hell it took me 45 minutes to exchange a socket. I bet you can do the exchange pay your payment (if you have one) and be back I the shop in 10 minutes
I appreciate that you took the time to make this video. Just a lot of questions that weren't asked.... How does the financial side of it work? When you do this job is it a franchise and you have to purchase the tools? Or does Mac supply you the tools and you pay them when you sell them? I noticed the posting for a Mac tool truck in my area but it says you are a franchise. Can't even imagine how stressful it would be. If you were having to buy all them tools then sell them. Can imagine it gets expensive quickly. But anyhow give you a thumbs up. Appreciate the video
The way it works are you apply to be a franchisee if you have good enough credit then you can purchase the truck and load it down with tools. Those tools are on a payment plan to you. Do you sell tools to your customer on credit (most of the time on the Truck account which is an interest free loan) Sale tools by tools. Rinse and repeat
I like to support local business but one thing around where i live is the vape shops that i refuse yo spend money at anymore. Their prices are seriously triple or more than online prices, if it was just a few dollars more i would buy local. But a mod that cost $45 online costs $115 local.
Like all things good and bad in life passes as time goes, Bill will do good in anything he decides to try or do in life. Bill is a great guy and a good friend and he will be fine. It's doing what is best for his family and new baby so only an idiot would fault a man for doing what is best for him or his family. Me and Bill are still good friends and that is one thing that will never change.
I am loyal to the salesman. Not the tool brand ! the salesman gives you the support. You could have the best tool in the world but if you have a salesman that sucks why would you want to buy a tool from a guy that never shows up, never wants to take care of you as a buyer ? why give them the business ?
