Paradise is good scifi about buying life time off another available on Netflix now.. Amazons got some great scifi also with The Creator, Awareness and Halo. The Circle and Sorry to Bother You are good movies too.
I really appreciate you adding Repo Man. It's definitely a cult classic, and besides Emilio there's a really good turn by Harry Dean Stanton, Jimmy Buffett a small part, Michael Nesmith (yes, the Monkees guitarist and only real musician of the group), Miguel Sandoval fairly recognizable from a ton of movies including Clear and Present Danger, Tracey Walter (my other brother Darryl, for fans of Newhart). So yeah it deserves a look. BTW Asa Butterfield of Ender's Game is the main character in Sex Education, a better-than-it-sounds series on Netflix.
2010 has aged really well imo, awesome "future" 80's movie. Also good call on Looper at #1. Absolutely awesome movie with one of the best endings ever.
@@HenryHarya and Arthur Clarke wrote 2010 Odyssey Two only in 1982, that’s why it took so long. There are making-of videos of the movie, with spoilers. A. Clarke and S. Kubrick are in the movie 2010, two times Clarke, 1 Kubrick, as cameos.
Fun fact about Ender's Game...The movie was pretty good, but the book is so renowned for its battle strategy that the Commandant of the Marine Corps added it to the recommended reading list for enlisted personnel.
Ender’s Game was my favorite sci fi book when I was twelve and, although I couldn’t interest my teenage daughter with watching it now, I found the movie to be a great representation of a classic. Worth a watch for us middle aged sci fi fans
First Matrix movie will always be an amazing in theater experience for me. Back in 1999, the marketing for the movie leading up to the release was just “What is the Matrix?”. No teases about the plot, the action, etc. The Matrix reveal while sitting in theater was mind blowing, not to mention the action. I was already an HK movie fan at the point, but seeing the martial arts and gunfighting brought into a stylized, big budget way was breathtaking. Kinda tough nowadays to go into a movie completely not knowing what to expect at all, and the first Matrix movie experience will always be something I cherish.
For those who read, the Orson Scott Card Ender series has some 12 books in it. You will find considerably more depth in the written Ender than in the movie. Like many devoted readers of specific authors, I almost universally am disappointed in screen renditions of their novels, probably because they do not compare to the "movie" that runs in my mind as I read.
Total Recall rocks! I love this movie - its a totally different animal to the original (which i also deeply love!), but just such a great sci-fi action movie.
I don’t think CyberPunk Edgerunners was forgot about. It became extremely popular and actually got people to play the buggy game again after the bugs were fixed and made people actually like the game
Yeah, Cyberpunk 2077 came out 12/10/2020. Cyberpunk Edgerunners came out 9/13/2022. It definitely got people hyped about the game again and boosted sales of it at the time. Of course, the bugs being hashed out didn't hurt either.
Agree the ending and the entire second half is fantastic. Although the human race is a total mess seeing the World end made me understand all that would be lost. Gainsborough did some of her best work in this movie.
Your whole Cyberpunk section is nearly all wrong. The game did launch buggy but it didn't flop, still sold more than most games at that time (now at more than 25million copies). Then the anime came out around two years later, not near launch, which actually helped boost player interest and made the game go back up the charts.
Seeing Melancholia for the first time was an absolutely crazy experience. The first half has some awkwardly comedic elements, with the second half an artistic masterpiece. Kirsten Dunst's performance was one for the ages. HIGHLY recommend this Lars von Trier gem.
I need to watch “Battleship” again - the most interesting take I’ve seen online is that the alien ship is a mining ship that got stuck on Earth due to an accident, was only trying to signal for help to go home, and because of misunderstandings, was seen as an aggressive force for an invasion.
I may be showing my age, but there was a big trend to cut food costs by purchasing "no frills" generic foods. Even the labels were almost exactly like the cans in Repo Man. The cans had labels just like the generic labels, except instead of saying "Food" or "drink", they actually said what was in them.
I wish it could be possible but I just think there is WAAAYYY too much in Speaker for the Dead to make a comprehensible movie I think Ender’s shadow lends itself more towards another movie.
There are a lot of us here that love movies like Melancholia , movies with depth and about something profound and that make you think. That’s what I enjoy about your videos the diversity of your choices!
One of the best movies/mini series I ever watched was Lars von Trier's 'The Kingdom'. It was long before Antichrist and all of his modern movies so it was bit different. But still schoking, deep, multi-layered and just plan awesome.
Vivarium is excellent, for those that haven't seen it, it's great but not for everyone. Looper and 2010 are also good ones. Got to check out Ender's game (I read the book, it's good) and Repo Man. Thanks mate.
80s guy here. Total Recall take. I take it as a good sci-fi flick. I try not to compare the Schwarzenegger flick with this. Still......"get your ass to Mars."
imo the Total Recall reboot/remake was spot on, Kept the primary aspect (memory altering) from the original film but changed the secondary aspects like locations etc to stop it just being another copy/paste with cgi slapped on.
18:38 As one who's read the Ender's Game series, I was VERY excited when the movie came out. Overall, I enjoy it, but it certainly leaves out very significant internal dialogues, leadership ideology, military strategy, etc. that truly make the books very intricate and special. There were just several things that I wished the film explored more deeply. But, I will say that the ultimate message did eventually shine through. "HOW we win matters." is a very strong statement that is far more impactful if you've read at least Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow.
Looper and Matrix 1are great Sci-Fi movies but Everything Everywhere All at Once is an outstanding landmark in movie making it is brilliant, making the simple complex like are minds do. Like 2001, Spirited away and Pulp fiction and a handful of others these transcend and elevate the art and are not just another movie.
I saw Repo Man in the theater back in the day. Still holds a place in my heart. Everything, Everywhere, All at Once is better the second time around. The first time like you say can be tiring even though it is so much fun. But the second time around you can pay more attention to the story part of the movie and it had me all teary eyed. Love this movie. Michelle Yeoh is the best! whether the movie is bad or great, she is always good in it. And some of her movies are pretty bad.
Looper is like a HIFI CyberPunk movie, has that future element, but focuses mainly on the TIme traVell aspect, sooo hgood you dont even question the physiscs behind it !!!!
The Panos Cosmatos episode of Cabinet of Curiosity is by far the best of that anthology. Anyone who loved Mandy like I did needs to check it out. Also check out his other film Beyond the Black Rainbow, creepy, trippy sci-fi (psy-fi).
I agree with Looper as the #1. It is one of the best time travel movies I have seen in recent years. Ender's Game is terrific too. I absolutely love the Enderverse books. Some of them explore what happened on earth with Ender's siblings and there is one (Ender's Shadow) which portrays the same events as Ender's Game but from the perspective of Bean! (who turns out to be an extraordinary character in his own right). A very clever and awesome story--it turns out there was actually a lot going on than the original story portrayed. However, I realized after rewatching the film on Netflix that I think I understand why the movie is only rated 6.6 on IMDB (much too low in my opinion). The reason is that, although Orson Scott Card had direct input into the movie and made sure it hit the high points, the book is so rich that it is hard to fit all the key elements and explanations into the movie. Such as: why are these young kids military geniuses? The book motivates this pretty well but the movie doesn't do as well.
Repo Man is filled with sight gags, and word play throughout. Also, one of my favorite movies with Tracy Walter in it; better know as Nicholson’s Joker’s right hand man. Also, some very generational things like Generic Food those plain cans that said beer, dog food that was a real thing to help save you money. They also make fun of Scientology, with the book Diuretics for L. Ron Hubbard’s book, “Dyanetics” Plus, Michael Nesmith produced it. Saw Split for the first time, mainly because of Anya (as in-her own words-aneurysm) Taylor-Joy. McAvoy was astonishing. Agree with you on The Matrix Trilogy, the first is the best. I feel the same way about the John Wick series. They’re all “good” but to me, the first is the best, and could (should?) have ended there.
i dont think they will ever TOP EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE movie, in a long time, its just soooo SCIFISH but you dont even care about the physics of things, its that goood !!!!
Cyberpunk 2077 had a rocky realease, but hardly could be called ill fated. Came back strong this year with its update and DLC, and is widely regarded as being awesome.
I absolutely loved the 2nd Total Rekall movie..Kate looks so good in that movie ..great action ..great visuals ..one of my favorite movies ..can't understand why it doesn't get more love.
Personally I love 2012's Total Recall, particularly the Directors Cut version. The 1990 version was great too but I have watched the 2012 version over a dozen times and I enjoy it every time. The 1990 version, I've watched maybe twice.
Back to say .... Watch the Total Recall(remake) as you are watching a new Sci-Fi, as DVD suggests. It's a damn good movie, with all the wanted elements. And yes Kate Beckinsale is a badass, but I wish Jessica Biel would have been more kicking ass than she did. She was talented at killing, just wish she would have done more kicking ass😁
What is really annoying about these reviews is that you watch them and get all excited about a movie on Netflix, only to find it isn't available in your country! Perhaps a disclaimer at the beginning that a particular movie may not be available in your country. For example, here you reviewed 2010, the sequel to 2001. I just checked, it isn't on here in Australia. Very disappointing!
The Viewing is indeed great, and Peter Weller is incredibly charismatic in it. Even though the first part is mostly dialogue, it's delivered so well it's extremely interesting.
Ender's game is so amazing! The book series is my favorite! Orson Scott Card is a great author! The movie surprisingly matched what I was imagining when I read the books before the movie came out! I was blown away on how accurate my imagination and the movie matched up for me!
I continue to watch all your videos and appreciate most of the recommendations. I did want to advise you that the sound editing (your commentary) in this one sounded very muffled though. Clear but like your were talking into a bucket for what it's worth.
RE: Total Recal... YES!! At last! Someone who likeed that movie. The plot is good, the script could be better but it's not TOO bad. The performances were all good. And like you said, Kate Bekansale and Jessica Biel are both smokin' hot in this. It's a GOOD action flick and NOT a remake (it's just a re-wash of the script) It is a good movie.
Total Recall the sequel was definitely a good movie but at least for me, the supreme Kate Beckinsale action movie will always be Underworld, by a landslide.
Battleship and Ender's Game are such a good movies imo. Matrix doesnt need an introduction really, but I guess we have to mention it from time to time so the young people have a chance to see it.
Love Total Recall the original, not the remake so much. I don’t know how Everything Everywhere All At Once won so many Oscar’s but that was definitely a pretty crazy movie.
Great List!! Maybe I shouldn't have skipped Total Recall (remake). Watching that in a few. I would place Looper at the top of what is currently available, as well. It would likely be the 6th time watching it , so I'll save that one for later. Only 1 of 4 movies on this list that I haven't seen. Reminded me that its been too long since I watched Repo Man. Thank you ❤
Repo Man! I saw it multiple times back in the 80s. Great flick. "I blame society." Everything Everywhere leaned a bit too hard on the craziness. But like Nolan's "Memento", at some point you start to realize the profound point being made. And it sticks.
what u didnt know about enders game......in the battle room with petra....theres a music playing.............that music beat is very similar to game of thrones starting intro

Nah this your best video. I'm gonna share this on my socials
Personally I love 2012's Total Recall, particularly the Directors Cut version. The 1990 version was great too but I have watched the 2012 version over a dozen times and I enjoy it every time. The 1990 version, I've watched maybe twice.
Putting Looper ahead of The Matrix would be a big call, but putting Looper ahead of the Matrix TRILOGY is a no brainer lol
Aliens versus cowboys that was a pretty good movie
Back to say ....
Watch the Total Recall(remake) as you are watching a new Sci-Fi, as DVD suggests.
It's a damn good movie, with all the wanted elements. And yes Kate Beckinsale is a badass, but I wish Jessica Biel would have been more kicking ass than she did. She was talented at killing, just wish she would have done more kicking ass😁
The Total Recall remake is visually very cool; it's good.
I love Enders Game!
Repo man is a an absolute classic.
Loopers is very good and very re-watchable. Matrix original definitely #1.
The Viewing is indeed great, and Peter Weller is incredibly charismatic in it. Even though the first part is mostly dialogue, it's delivered so well it's extremely interesting.
The Viewing - bummer it's not available here.
Hello from Florida 🌴 😎
I enjoyed 2010 much more than 2001. I watched them both when they first came out.
Groovy shirt and good movie list.
Ender's game is so amazing! The book series is my favorite! Orson Scott Card is a great author! The movie surprisingly matched what I was imagining when I read the books before the movie came out! I was blown away on how accurate my imagination and the movie matched up for me!
Split and Glass are 2 and 3 of a trilogy. You should include the 1st of it which is Unbreakable.
Apple TV+ is the home for quality Sci-fi.
Total Recall the sequel was definitely a good movie but at least for me, the supreme Kate Beckinsale action movie will always be Underworld, by a landslide.
Who is the hot chick in this thumbnail and what movie is it? Kate Beckinsale in Total Recall?
Battleship and Ender's Game are such a good movies imo. Matrix doesnt need an introduction really, but I guess we have to mention it from time to time so the young people have a chance to see it.
Love Total Recall the original, not the remake so much. I don’t know how Everything Everywhere All At Once won so many Oscar’s but that was definitely a pretty crazy movie.
Cueing UP Total Recall NOW!
Looper is awesomeness! I don't rate Enders Game very high tho.
Repo Man is on Netflix?!?! Hell yeah
Thank you ❤
My favorite character is Bean, from Ender's Game... the parallel book got me hooked on him.. Ender's Shadow..
Cyberpunk 2077 has actually been worked on, and it is now a solid game.
The viewing got better and better.
THANKS
You know it
@@DarrenVanDam I watched it for KD, (Melancholia) - - and I liked IT!... because of her.
Repo Man! I saw it multiple times back in the 80s. Great flick. "I blame society."
Everything Everywhere leaned a bit too hard on the craziness. But like Nolan's "Memento", at some point you start to realize the profound point being made. And it sticks.
what u didnt know about enders game......in the battle room with petra....theres a music playing.............that music beat is very similar to game of thrones starting intro
I really like the Total Recall remake, really solid especially in the extended version 👍
Nice shirt
