- ►Every gearbox needs healthy lubricating fluid, whether three pedals or two. BMW's DCT is no exception, regardless of BMW's "lifetime fill" claim, so replacing the fluid and filter is something you may want to look into.
All lubricating fluids contain minerals and compounds designed to keep the rotating components smooth, cool, and happy. But with extensive use, the oil will break down, losing its effectiveness. While the DCT won't necessarily tell you its fluid needs replacing, try sticking to an interval near 60-75,000 going forward.
Wrench with Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIY'er, as he replaces the DCT fluid and filter on an F82 M4.

Hey guys. I did this job on my E92 335is with the same DCT, but with the stock shallow transmission pan.
There is a fill procedure in ISTA that you need to run while filling the DCT up with fluid. This procedure shifts some things around in the transmission and lets you get an extra liter or 2 of oil in, and avoids the rough shifts you might experience if you just drain & fill. Look at 6:18 in the video and see how much cold fluid is draining out just by opening the fill plug. There is no way you can fill that much fluid inside the transmission while it is level. The ISTA procedure allows you to get that extra fluid in.
Good to know got a e82 135i and I plan on doing this during the summer before I slap xhp on it 😹
Great tutorial by professionals
That fall line pan is great. I got almost an extra liter in. I ended up using all 7 and needing a little more because I spilled a little and accounting for the overflow after the heated fill. DIY at home on quickjacks, you can use a cement mixing pan to catch and undo all of the screws on the pan except for the front or back to let it sag down at an angle. That lets the fluid drain out in only one direction and not all over yourself.
That's a perfect video!!!! Nice car too !
Hello, thank you for sharing the post, usefull You mentioned that you used 6,5 litres of oil, but the transmission circuit is projected for 8,5 litres (DCT+cooler+pipes). Did you changed all the oil or only the amount in DCT and the rest (1,5 litre) in pipes and cooler you left there? Thanks
Dct gang ‼️
That music is terrible. Great content though!!
My suction jet pump broke and another black flapping thing next to it . Can anyone tell me the actual part name ?
Do you guys actually do repair work on people’s cars?
What is fuild?
Thoughts on doing this on a 140k mile f80 with questionable shift behavior?
Yes. Use motul dct-f trans fluid. It saved my life
Great tutorial for not needed service. The new oil will look exactly the same within few hundred miles.
Sling the music please its annoying as hell
You named all BMW models with the exception of the F87 M2. Does this have the same DCT setup as those you mentioned/showed on the video?
It has the same transmission as the M4 and M3
