Hopefully will be ready for next Christmas!
Good God. I might be close to some of this by Christmas of 2025.
@@pretty.noodles3540 Let's do duet in 2025? 🍻
@@strumminronin count me in! Cheers mate!
I hear ya lol
I'm speechless about the performance and about the transcribing! Hats off.
Hi there! This one is either for the curious or for the masochists... lol. Just kidding but if you play it at your own speed and ignore some of the impossible lines and stretches it's not so bad. Bar 18 & 61, I have wrote down what I think made sense but I didn't hear the notes clearly so it might be completely wrong. At high speed it sound very similar. Bar 68, might be the biggest stretch I ever seen. Don't hurt your hand trying that please.
Don't worry I will upload some more playable stuff by the end of the week. Cheers!
The only way I can play bar 68 is to bring my thumb around and use it as a bar. This is one tough piece! Thanks for everything you do, Francois!! Happy Holidays
Great transcription of a great player - thank you!
@@briantotten7167 Thanks for the Q... but man that's tough... lol.
Thanks so much!!! Have Yourself a Merry BIG Christmas!
@@briantotten7167 where is bar 68? i cant find it.......
As great as Joe Pass was, Pasquale takes solo guitar to several levels above. His feel is impeccable and his harmonic choices bold and rich. And all very in the pocket. Genius stuff, thanks for transcribing!!
He also keeps the melody more prominent whereas Joe Pass always overplayed filling every measure with dibbly-dab until the melody became lost
Incredible…..sweep picking, octaves, and sooo many chords.
So gorgeous. Most of the chord choices are familiar from so many other genius versions, but I'm definitely stealing the circle of 5ths thing and some other gems after 1:24.
I had to pause and look that over too when I saw it. Incredible! and so simple
Never heard of this guy….he’s my favorite guitarist now. What a clinic, wow! Amazing work on this! Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Actually it is a quite poor fingerstyle cover. Just because he is technically good and uses a lot of techniques he misses one thing.... the music itself. It seemed to be that this is just a showcase of abilites but not a good rendition on the song itself. Wrong timings, bad use of accents, some not too nice harmonization choices, and jumping from style to style for no reason. I'm sure he is a great guitarist but as the saying goes, sometimes less is more.
@@martonandorka While I don't completely disagree that it's a little busy, the very point of solo jazz guitar is to add your own color and yes, showcase your style. If I want to sit around the fire with family, maybe I'll put on the Bing Crosby version, but for a guitarist who enjoys seeing guitar virtuosity on full display, I love it. I don't think he got so off the theme as to say he missed the music, not at all. There are solo guitar Christmas tunes that are very sparse and stick to the bare bones and to me, sometime that feels like someone went into the studio with a chart and recorded the tune improvised which can sound dull and uninspired, missing an opportunity to break out. The opposite of what we have here, is it a little "Everything but the kitchen sink"? Sure, but why not! Anyway, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, whichever version you prefer :)
@@martonandorka sometime it’s busy then it changes to a different pace and comes back, like if he wanted another player to fit in , in the middle section.
He does want to show off compared to other players who are more aware that a arpeggio straight from the bottom to top can be boring, specially for musicians, but for some reasons Francois add it to its library ,
Music is so deep, i like players like Berg and others that went over the top and now they sit back and do less but means more.
Personally i love more when a musician hits you with his feel, and surprise you
@@martonandorka Like all of us his playing is similar to the ones who inspired him. Bud Powell, Barry Harris, Bird, Art Tatum etc... To me he's just being honest
Thanks so much for this! I've seen him twice at Mezzrow in NYC - this guy is mind blowing live. Thanks Francois!
Thank you!!! Thank you!!!! He is one of my favorites!
OMG, Francois!! Amazing work, as always. "for the curious or for the masochists", for sure. You're doing the world a service, on this channel. Thanks so much.
Dude you put out so much content its insane!!! I love your transcriptions, now i just need the skill to learn it haha
Thanks!
el mejor guitarrista que e escuchado en toda mi vida
casi es para postrarse ante Dios y decirle .. gracias por darnos a este (hombre - regalo ) en la tierra
es extremadamente grandioso
Holy shit, I love how good these transcriptions are. I've been looking for something like your channel for a long time.
Aaahhh.... Fantastico!
The transcription that obliged me to work on my sweeping technique! 😅
I can't stress enough how great your work is!
Congratulations!
This technique is brilliant, the tone and fluidity superb. Add to this the fact that he's playing in dflat major (certainly not my key of choice for guitar!) and it becomes - wow!
I've definitely noticed that guitar players like to play in the same keys and it can definitely hinder your playing if you don't branch out and learn songs in other keys that don't seem to be as natural. I heard this from Joe Pass. Ever since then, I've always tried to force myself to learn tunes or write songs in keys that aren't as friendly in standard tuning. It also helps that my brother, who is a piano player, use to knock on me and other guitarists for never being able to play in "other" keys
A Triumph of performance and transcription in equal measure.
Awesome...great for sight reading while follow listening...I loved it. A great exercise for the eye played masterfully. Bravo!
Thanks!
Fantastic
Wonderful. Beautiful technique.
Amazing !
Amazing! I would love to see a transcription of Carol of the bells. I’ve been waiting for someone to share their talent in this form.

A good dissonance like a man

hmmm... not gonna happen! I'm not Pasquale Grasso, I can't play like that.
Can you do Ted Greene’s version of this?
Amazing stuff, and amazing transcription as well! Hats off! I just made a much simpler arrangement of this song and posted it on my channel.

There's jazz tone, and then there's too much jazz tone.
