    Again, as voted this month by my Patrons, trrrrr... this one! I kinda expected it to win, 'the shadow of your smile' is always a popular tune. It has a great chord progression for improvisation. I would say, it's maybe not the fanciest solo I've heard but all elements are there and all super well balanced to make a sweet sounding interpretation. A bit of melodic variations, a bit of chords, a bit of blues licks, a bit of bebop lines.... There is a bit of guessing in the comping as the guitar is not super clear but I'm sure it's pretty close. Enjoy!

    Always liked the way Herb always added his own brand of blue licks into otherwise non-blues ballads and such... It was his recognizable signature.....

    Herb, who inspired Emily Remler and supported her career - thanks Herb-, has undoubtedly a place amongst the greatest jazz guitarists of all times. You hear this immediately. I learned a lot from Emily, so indirectly from Herb.

    Hey, I have original recordings of the first guitarist in Brazil, the legendary Américo Jacomino "Canhoto" (1887-1928), as well as other pioneers such as Dilermando Reis (1915-1977), Levino Albano da Conceição (1883-1955), between others. It would be nice to see them transcribed.

    • @kennedyviolao
      @kennedyviolao 4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately, there are few transitions from the original recordings of Américo Jacomino, and of those that exist, few are decent.

    •  4 года назад +4

      Thanks! I don't think I will do Django Reinhardt tunes, not because I don't like him thou. It's just that there's already more than enough transcriptions of him available, so I don't see the point. Maybe if I find something very cool that I cannot find a decent transcription of, who knows.

      @Clifton Banks...it's called "transcrption" and it's for morons like me who play guitar but can't read music. There's six lines, for each of the six strings on the guitar, and the numbers indicate the frets on the neck of the guitar where the note should be played.
