Hearing Slipknot For the First Time

- Опубликовано: 21 авг 2024
- Today, I ventured into the world of Slipknot. As someone who usually enjoys a different genre of music, I was curious to check out Slipknot for the first time. Psychosocial! The energy and intensity of Slipknot's music are undeniable, and I couldn't help but be impressed by their raw talent and unique style if not the shoutiness and umagery.
While Slipknot's music might not be my usual cup of tea, I have to admit, there's something captivating about their fearless approach to expressing themselves through music. Join us as we dive into the realm of heavy riffs, powerful vocals, and a stage presence that demands your attention.
It's important to embrace the diversity of musical tastes that exist out there, and this experience was a reminder that music has the power to evoke a wide range of emotions in all of us. From shock to amazement, we went on an unforgettable journey together, and I'm excited to share it with you all.

Hey guys! Not the video I anticipated sharing tonight. It was one that got blocked months ago and has been in the on hold files. I was working on two other vids today that are pretty big edits and I thought I’d get one of them done for tonight, but I didn’t and in the last hour I didn’t want to rush it. Hopefully it’ll be worth it in the end.
So, hope it’s OK to have a double dose of music this week. ✌🏻
Sorry, Lovely Diane, but I am on the road and will have to reject this choice later.
:o)
Many groups can make a beautiful song,, like this group,, BUT,, the difference with them is the absolutely unique way they perform it,, i dedicate this one to you my music lovin' sister,, Steam Powered Giraffe "Honeybee"
(Official Music Video A MUST!!)
Take your time Diane! You are an artist and art does not work on a schedule!
Any Video you Make I enjoying watching. That's good this one got unblocked giving you time to work on your other videos. No worries or hurry on being creative. Variety of videos gets more viewers to the channel also.
Love it.
Next Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys.
Love to see an Irish reaction to watching the Irish do Punk better than everyone else!
Diane's facial expressions alone during this video were hysterical!
🥰
Imagine if she picked Devil In I...
Imagine her face if she saw a mosh pit at a show 🤣🤣🤣
@@kchez5586That was on my mind the entire time…Her facial expressions would have been gold!
@@DianeJennings Corey's stuff with Stone Sour is good as well, although most of the early stuff is heavy music as well you get a lot less screaming and growled vocals and more singing, and Bother off the first album is an acoustic piece
If you want to hear the lead singer Corey Taylor's singing talent you should check out some of his unplugged acoustic stuff where he just sings. Corey has a phenomenal voice. His acoustic performances of Wicked Games, Snuff and Through A Glass are really good.
Corey taylor snuff acoustic is amazing.
@@dillonsronce2583amazing and heartbreaking I’d say
Yeah, alot of people who are uncomfortable with heavy metal automatically assume that the singers are untalented just because they’re screaming all the time… which is completely ignorant and false. If they actually take the time to look into them more they’d see how talented they actually are
Dont forget about the song Bother too, the acoustic performance is really great
@@Shurororu same singer, different band
2:35 It's a beer keg. They use them in their music. It has an awesome "ting" sound when they hit it.
Ahaaaaaaa!!!
I was going to point this out Lol.
Shawn "Clown" Crahan Is one of the bands 3 percussionists/drummers known for banging on metal beer kegs with a baseball bat in their songs. He also provides back up vocals on some tracks. (For anyone who doesn't know)
@@poesenpai6475 he’s also the only OG member of slipknot left. (Mate, feed, kill, repeat era)
Seems like a good group of kids. I hope their little band makes it big some day.
lmao, thanks for that.
hope so, theyre so talented
Lmao
Morgan Freeman Voice: “Unfortunately, they never did…”
If you want some easier to listen to Slipknot where Coreys voice takes over you might wanna try Snuff, Vermillion pt 1 or pt2, wait and bleed. Also fun fact I was born where these guys are from and my great Aunt lived next to Corey for a bit and my social studies teacher was Chris Fehns brother aka the guy with the long nose in the video, love my boys from Iowa!
I hope they didn’t disturb you rehearsing 😂
Wait and Bleed really?. That song has harsher vocals than this song…
This version of Slipknot is tame compared to the earlier albums.
Just listen to his other band, Stonesour it not a metal band.
Oh hell yeah. I'm an Iowa boy myself. Knew Corey long before Slipknot. Top metal band for sure.
your not of those friends that chunked him in a dumpster lol @@petekaster9185
This is one reaction that I would be surprised if anyone was surprised that you hadn't listened to them.
Fair point 😂
Slipknot masks are an outward expression of how they feel on the inside. Their music is an outlet to let out all of the rage and negative emotions they feel. Great band. Love them. There are evolutions of their masks over the years too.
I too am not a major fan of this style of music but I have a few friends that enjoy it and when they discuss the meaning behind the words and the struggles the artists are singing about I totally get why people listen to them. Slipknot reminds me not to judge the book by the cover.
Yeah I’m glad we learned a bit about them😊
I don't listen to metal for to relate to or behind the meaning I like it cuz it sounds good
The looks on Diane’s face throughout the video! OMG😂🎉😂😂
😮😳🙃😫😱
@@DianeJennings You weren’t always horrified! You smiled and seemed delighted by the beautiful parts of the performance.
This video was a great surprise! I am a big fan of yours and a big Slipknot fan as well, but I never thought the two would cross paths in your world. Your facial expressions and reactions to the video were absolute perfection!!! Cheers.
Rock on!
YES! I f*ckin' LOVE Slipknot! 🤘
🪨 on!
Hells yeah
Always fun to see non-metal listeners react to this kind of music, specially heavy songs right at the beginning of their new music journey. Slipknot sure takes some time to get used to : D
And the thing that Chris was hitting at 2:35 was actually a beer keg. One of Slipknots well known instruments. So, if you hear a ding kind of sound in their songs, it's probably just the beer keg getting hit XD
This is actually one of their songs that I'd recommend for a first listen. The chorus is actually really pleasant to listen to and the video is very tame. The rest of their stuff uses harsh vocals so you might not like it as much. If you wanted to react to another one I'd recommend "Duality". The music video doesn't have any violent imagery.
Also, the band are a bunch of sweethearts. One of the reasons they wear masks is because Clown has an anxiety disorder and wearing the mask helps with stage fright.
"The music video doesn't have any violent imagery." Did you see what they did to that house?
Yeah I think yen is also a good one
@@tiladx that's fair. It doesn't have violent imagery against anything that can suffer would be more accurate.
Ok that's an interesting choice, I wasn't expecting them to be in a reaction video from you. I know people that love them but I only really know one of their songs, "Before I forget". I really only know "Psychosocial" because someone on youtube did a cover of it using a banjo.
Aww that’s hilarious 🪕
and a very cool cover it is!
Diane's face is the face of every mother who's teenage son or daughter played her this song for the first time. I love it.
Happy Friday Diane! I'm not really into Slipknot and their music, but I know people who are into the. Your reactions say it all! 😂 Thanks always for your channel and for your honest opinions on stuff like this! Hope to see more of your priceless reactions to future groups and videos like this one. Take care and please say hi to Chewy for me. Have a fantastic weekend Diane. 👋😎
Thank you! You too!
Just give it time, Diane will hit her hard core metal phase and get some full sleeve tattoos and her own Slipknot style mask but bedazzled, and of course a matching one for Chewie.
😂
If I ever get a sleeve, I have been cloned by aliens and all is lost
🤣🤣🤣
RIP Mr Jordsion! MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!
Their aesthetic is their hook.
Definitely
You should check out their song Dead Memories. Corey Taylor their singer delivers a beautifully melodic performance.
You can tell he has a great voice!
@@DianeJennings dead memories is a great option. Another one, but completely different from their main sound is Snuff.
It's beautiful and 100% Slipknot, but Dead Memories sounds more like their general sound, but with clean vocals.
The look on your face when Corey started singing, and not screaming, was priceless! You should check out Corey's other band Stone Sour. It's a vastly different band. Check out "Through Glass", "Bother", and "Song #3". Jim Root (guitar) was also in it and left in 2014, but he's supposed to be working on their new album.🤘
your face in this whole video is priceless
That was a damn good reaction. Slipknot will shock you with their music videos but there's a lot of meaning behind their songs
Ah, being very musically brave, Irish Girl! They're not for everyone, but entertaining watching you react. I saw SlipKnot at OzzFest a dozen years ago. The raw energy is certainly palpable. Have a great weekend, Diane and Chewie.
Very well put Dan!
She would probably enjoy Babymetal as the break in softly to metal.
This was my first time hearing slip knot too. slip knot is that kind of music to get you fuel up with energy for extreme fast paced jobs with your cup of coffee. Race car drivers and people working out at the gym tend to like heavy metal music.
As a resident of Des Moines, I can say that we mosh at every concert.
Your face is the face every woman has when they see these guys and hear their music. Classic.
I’ve seen them in concert 4 years ago and they are very good live. They have a great deal of energy on stage.
I’m a baby boomer and have been in the music industry until this day. I was put off by the screaming but I could hear the band and their musical talents. Wouldn’t follow them, but respect their musicality FYI Kelly Osbourne had a child with one of the members of Slipknot.
x gen says represent
Go see them live it's outstanding.. Had to take my teenage son to 2 of their concerts(2008-2009) and was pretty impressed.. Not a fan of the screaming either but the kids loved it..
Whaaaaaat?!
@@stevenseul361 I’m a true punk fan at CBGB in the’70s and everything after. I opted to not bring kids into this world. So I guess I don’t know what the present kids like. I didn’t grow up in a bubble! Lol
@@DianeJennings oh yes! Look it up.
Yeah, that's the same face my mom gave when I showed her Slipknot for the first time too.
😂 I have Mom face
Cheers my darling - Love what you do ☘️🤍☘️
PLEASE trust me on this one,, the more you hear it,, the more you love it,, as well as the unique way they perform,, Steam Powered Giraffe "Honeybee" (Official Music Video A MUST!!)
I appreciate that. Sometimes you gotta hear some thing a few times.
@DianeJennings Very true,, the first time hearing/seeing this one,, some cry at its beauty.
Diane ,Now watch a video called "Snuff" acoustic version by Corey Taylor.Corey's voice will make you cry when you hear/feel this version. Corey is the lead singer.btw. PLEASE !!!!
Mebe
@@DianeJennings You won't regret it.🥰⚘️💘😘
If that's her reaction to SlipKnot I can only imagine how she will react to bands like Amon Amarth, Lamb of God, and Slaughter to Privail and many more monsters of the stage.
Corey Taylor is a fantastic vocalist. Did you know the drummer is Jay Weinberg, son of "Mighty" Max Weinberg of the E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen's band.
Oh interesting!!
Max also played drums for our friend Conan for over (I think) 20 years. He had Jay with him when Slipknot was on the show and that’s what inspired Jay to play drums.
Slipknot takes Diane way, Way, WAY outside her box
She’s not their demographic, but she can see how it rocks
Despite her facial expressions, she didn’t halt
Even when her brainhead was under assault
😂
Nicely done as usual!😊
I think she warmed up at the end lol
@@JennR72It was probably because of all that fire.
Thanks for letting us in for this. Please keep reacting to things out of your comfort zone. Keep it 💯
One of my favorite thing about them is that they are from iowa and they comeback to their hometown
Thanks for reacting to it Diane!
No problem 😊
This band is Awesome. My older brother used to listen this band a lot and I recall listening to this band while my brother was driving in any car we had at the time.
😊
Slip Knot will never ever be called weak sauce.
We love you Diane and admire your dedication to high quality re-Acting
Been a fan since their first album, seen them in concert 8 times and it is always a great show. It's great that you tried them.
Oh Diane. What are you doing? 😂
🙈🙈🙈
Thanks for the video Diane! I've never of this band before or this song, so definitely something new for me. I think I need to go find some puppies to hug now! Just a bit disturbing of a song.....
You should! 😂 🐶
As a life-long Iowa native, Corey and the boys doin' us proud!!
I don't see Diane being a Slipknot fan. I see Barry Manilow more to her liking.
Is he the sexy song guy?
@@DianeJennings He is neither, but he did write the KFC jingle.
@DianeJennings well Barry, Billy Joel, John Denver, Elton John, and Neil Diamond owned the male solo artists of the 1970s. Barry "I Write The Songs" that the whole world sings😉! Some of his other hits are "Mandy," "Weekend In New England," "I Made It ThroughThe Rain," "It's A Miracle," "Could It Be Magic," and "Can't Smile Without You." I relate more to John Denver, but no one seems to recognize Barry. He started out with Bette Midler as her pianist before breaking out on his own. I'm not sure about the sexy song guy title, but he definitely was a hit with ladies for his love songs. Also he is mentioned in the coming of age High School movie "The Breakfast Club" so you should react to one of his 1970s videos before watching it to get the reference.
That'll knock the bedazzling off you're bits and pieces, Mrs. Jennings!!💯♥ 🤘
I respect your honesty. It’s not for everyone, and RUclips is flooded with people who post fake reactions to metal as yes men just trying to get views.
I'm enjoying your videos. Keep up the good work.
This might be my favorite video of all time
I've been a metalhead for decades. Never got into the Nu-Metal scene but this song sounded alright. For a variety of stuff I recommend you checking, Diane, would be Slayer (Thrash Metal), Judas Priest (Heavy Metal), Immolation (Death Metal), Emperor (Black Metal), Opeth (a combo of Progressive and Death Metal) *their older material anyway. A couple other that also involve lots of theatrics are King Diamond (Heavy Metal) and Ghost (Heavy Metal mixed with Progressive Rock).
Not a Slipknot fan, but definitely a Diane fan, so I’m here for her.
Nice and respectful good reaction thank you
came here after seeing your Stairway to heaven video... such a different facial reaction!
Went from pure joy and amazement to this... which was disgust to mild tolerance to disgust again.
I ask myself every time I hear music such as this, "What kind of mood must you be in to want to listen to it?"
Any mood, really. If you're feeling nice and balanced, you can listen to them for the technical quality of their music. Particularly, their third record comes to mind, with its creative production and tight drums. Or, if you're in a bad mood, their aggressiveness can be actually cathartic, calming you down over the course of a few songs.
Those are the ways I like to listen to them.
Liking one Slipknot song is a gateway to liking their heaviest stuff.
My neck is done. I couldn't hold back. I lasted 2 seconds. Headbanging unleashed.
finally a good reaction :) youre right not every band is for every person, but most youtube reacters would have you think otherwise.
I love Slip Knot . Gotta love the Iowa connection .
Oh wow, watching your facial expressions as you watch this video has been one of the funniest things I've seen in months! I'm laughing so much I'm crying. Thankyou!
I think this is the whole point of shock rock. Ugly on the outside, beautiful within. You got to look passed the ugly.
Me: 😈👨🎤😝🤘 Diane: 😬😲😬🤔😬😐
Long time follower, just fell through a while ago, but just saw this pop up and was hella curious! Love the reaction and you trying to keep it positive.
Editor Dianne would love this.
I cracked up hard when she said they looked like Dad's. I mean they are dads with 20 something kids in their own hands after all.
from "wtf am i watching " to "hey dude actually has an amazing voice" back to "wtf am i watching "
Awww, sweet summer child xD barely scratched surface of metal.
Covering your face to their videos is the best way to watch them 😂
😂 I was trying to just listen😊
I would like to suggest listening to Corey Taylor's Through the Glass as it shows his range and Sulphur might show the full bands range
I loved your reaction so much LMAO- those faces 🤣🤣
You can always tell those who grew up in a good home.
Oohh, I had to stop and see this one, Psychosocial is my absolute favorite of theirs and they are extremely consistent with producing good songs.
Man I haven't listened to Slipknot since high-school in the early 2000s. I feel old
Fair plays to you, it normally takes me ages for someone who doesn't listen to things like this and after a pleasantly alright with it.
Heavy Metal Friday Video is here Yay! I hope your Fridays going good and the weekend is very entertaining with good vibes. Rock On Party On!
Very heavy indeed Rickey 😂
That Diane emoji is perfect 😂
@@DianeJennings 😂 Gotta keep those positive vibes and your videos always bring the positive vibes 😊
@@DianeJennings 😂I was not expecting this video today so the emoji goes good with it for sure.
I love Slipknot. If you want to be a bit shocked then give a listen to Corey Taylor's (Slipknot lead vocalist) other band Stone Sour, specifically the song Through Glass. Total 180 from this song.
1:18 looked like my young daughter when broccoli appears at the table 🤣🤣🤣🤣
After this, everything was harder and darker. This was a light(lit) amazing looking video. Much darker in waynk and tesf
Hands down favorite slipknot song
This is definitely my favorite Slipknot video, though every one of their videos are very well made.
You’ll be blasting Heavy Metal in your car one day Diane. Rock on!
Two music reactions in one week!
This one isn't my vibe. Not a problem. I'd be suspicious of anyone who claimed to like everything. As Sly Stone sang, different strokes for different folks.
Not that I expect you to react to it here, but my favorite song about overcoming difficulties by working together is (get this), Let's Work Together by Wilbert Harrison.
Some artists I'd love for you to react to: Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Ray Charles.
Thanks!
Sorry about that. Pinned comment explaining why. Two big edits on at the moment.
@@DianeJennings Nothing to be sorry for.
Great song from a great band, They put on a fantastic live show. Thankyou for sharing
If you enjoy the chorus where he's singing you should check out their song "Dead Memories" also!
Diane, your face had me in stitches! Near the end of their video your face made me think of someone who had just aged years in a small amount of time - which then made me think of The Machine from Princess Bride - which made me think Cary Elwes could have used some acting tips from your real life experience. 😂
the limits of the dead part always gives me Bleed by Meshuggah vibes
How can anyone not love SlipKnot!
Because some people are so common with hip hop and bubblegum pop music that once they get a blast of this type of music which isn’t even as heavy compared to what i listened to, they get to scared to even follow the lyrics so the just stop, imo if you want to scare a non metal head with metal, have them listen to Lamb of God lmao
@@ethanfowler1752 OMG I completely forgot about Lamb of God!!!! Give these wimps nowadays nightmares!!!
"That guitar is good" lol yep!
Slipknot puts on an amazing concert! Glad you've now been exposed to brilliant music!
One of my favorites! Band and song. Your reaction was great😂
Happy Friday! I really enjoy this video. Have a awesome weekend.
Thank you! You too!
I wonder if they are available for proms or weddings?!
😂😂😂
Yeeeeeeeeessssss!!!!!!!!! The knot kicks ass.😎
I saw the title of the video and was like "Oh Diane, you don't know what you are in for." 😂 Priceless reaction!
Its soothing , calms me down n puts to sleep
Aawweeee sooo cute... Starting with a love song... Hehehe
I truly believe there is a subgenre of metal for everyone out there. I think big mistakes alot of people make when trying to introduce someone to metal for the first time is either:
1) go brutal and aggressive immediately, to be amused by their reaction
2) just go with what is popular, and assume they will like it too
3) not take into account what the person already listens to, to find a proper stepping stone band.
I know I am late to this video, so I don't know if you will see this comment anymore, but if you ever decide to try more current metal bands again in the future, I would love to give some tailored recommendations based on your current favorite genres of music, rather than just what is popular or will get the funniest reaction from you. Metal is an incredibly diverse genre with countless subgenres to experience. It can go from brutal and technical, to poppy and melodic, to folky, jaunty and energetic songs with bagpipes and violins, to 10 minute operatic numbers with full choirs and orchestras, and more.
Awesome reaction, nice video ^^
