I’d love to see how this works with a TV and I’m curious if other lights on the network like a led light strip can be included into it to have a full room surround ambiance all working with the images from the tv
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
I just bought my first set of Philips Hue series (a Starter kit, Lightstrips and more light bulbs). But I still drool for these Play Bars. The light power is amazing, and they look... modern. They'd be fantastic on a PC-table. Too bad I blew already so much money on my set-up and these alone cost 129€/$ a pair. But I'll get them, some day I will... lol.
Mind to provide a quick link to the background of your desktop please? And, awesome video. Missed some of your non-Apple product reviews and unboxings.
Philips is just now coming out with hue products that use bluetooth, for example, they have a standard bulb which now has bluetooth so you no longer need the bridge. I am not sure however which products have bluetooth. I think that the playbars do not but philips might me coming out with them, i am not sure.
Wow looks great. Mike, do you think these are easily attachable to a Thunderbolt Display? This would be a perfect solution to my quest for a interesting light behind my screen.
Hmmm, I've been debating whether to get these or a light strip to go behind my TV. I know you mentioned earlier in the video that the strips fit better behind the TV but you also mentioned how these work much better than a light strip and has more dimensions to work with than a light strip and you don't have sticky marks on the back of the TV. I have a 70" on the wall but I am wondering if it's better to have these if I can get them behind as opposed to the strip so I'm unsure? I'd want two so I can have two different colours (one at the top, one at the bottom) at the same time. Thanks for such a fantastic and informative review 😊
At the time of me writing this the only way that i am aware of to sync the TV content with your HUE lights without "Hue Sync" is if it is a Philips TV with "Ambilight" feature. The TV in itself has lights but can also as far as i know sync with other HUE lights in your setup. Check to be sure.
I ordered the 2pc lightbar + extension and the bridge after watching your video. I'm glad I did as I was considering the Corsair LT100/LS100s before watching your video. They are very expensive for ambient lights but you get what you pay for for the quality you get + the smart home apps support. I actually have a Logitech G560 which has light sync stereo speakers but they are just not bright or intensive enough.
I think I was doing this in 2014 with Kodi ... before the LED strips and using the old, slower hub v1 which often guessed a color to use. And the old Gen1/2 bulbs didn't really handle green, blue or purple at all, due to the overdose of yellow and lack of blue LEDs. now that Qdot and SMD's exist, and perhaps capellix or similar filtered 'dot' SMD's, it might be cheaper to get a decent bar-type SMD with good RGB. Bias lighting tends to work as long as you don't see the source or shadowing IMO. 2 or 3 lights tends to work best, but it looks like you can add more with Play and strips adding to the ambient effect.
Hi Enjoyed your video 😊, Just a quick question, after getting new TV etc I was looking at lighting , lights strips, although I've decided don't like the cheap strips. Like the light bars . Just got a 50 inch Qled and question is do I need Two or just one. At the moment in the UK one sells for £50 but there's a deal going for £85 for Two. Also can't see if they come with bulbs or even what kind of bulb/ filliment they use. Anyway if ??? U happen to see this tell me what u think, I think I like the light bars ,design , probably a lot of places I could use. But mostly I watch a lot of UHD movies just have a small light behind my TV. NO gaming thats on my PC. Ok thanks. PS just saw this an article "If you have a Philips Hue Bridge in your home, or don’t mind adding one, the Philips Hue Play light bars can deliver bias lighting to your home theater.", Don't know much about lighting esp smart stuff and that makes out I need to already have the basic Philips stuff ???
Fantastic video! I have been watching you for years and I am a big fan! Thank you for all that you do! Also I would like to see another video with the hdmi.
Hey Mike, when are you gonna review the note 9? I'm really wanting that phone but since you are the best reviewer on RUclips I wanna get your input on it 🙂
In this video it looks like the light bars are changing colours with regards to what’s on the TV screen. However I’m under the impression that you need the HDMI adaptor in order to make that functionality work. If I bought just the two light bar kit Will it work that way or do I need the HDMI adaptor
Can we use this hue plays without sync box with 2020 sony lcd tv,? We have 4-5 google hue app for android tvs, but sync box is so so expensive in turkey and also no one selling them yet.
Hi, how should i place them in the back of my monitor? Should I place them on the stand and left right or on the middle back of the monitor slightly to the left and right? I have an ultra wide 32 inch monitor
This could be great for Avg tech YTBER for unboxing/review video but I want to know the the one place back of ur PC is it one full bar ?? Attached to you PC desk ??
Is there an option for a stand alone console set up yet? I run all my bluerays/ movies/ tv shows/ and games throguhy Xbox one hooked up to a 55" screen and pioneer 5.1 surround sound system. Being able to do this without adding a mini computer would be nice.
I was able to get this working by using the XBOX app on a PC, stream the XBox one screen to the PC so it is mirroring the tv, then run the hue sync app on the pc. it's a bit convoluted, but works great!
A quick video to hold you over until I finish some longer videos. Note 9, iPad Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini, Apple Pencil 2 and more to come.

Wait, who glues the light strip to their monitor? It comes with adhesive on the back and is plenty strong.
These are a must-have! Please do a video on the hdmi adapter for a TV
Would love to see a video on the TV integration... might snag it for myself if it’s interesting enough
What wallpaper is that? It's amazing!
Can you link the wallpaper on your desktop? It’s awesome
What HDMI adapter are you talking about? I don't think there is such thing...
gotta love that LED flicker. They could have made these non-flickering given how many youtubers use these guys.
Great informative video 👍 Just one question - are these designed to add effects like the Philips amber light tv’s?
Loool, something new. This is just like the Philips Ambx set all over again. I had that more than 15 years ago.

And the hue lights compliment the viewing experience...👌👌

HDMI adapter for these lights? I never heard about it. knows someone something about it?
It needs a Hue Sync HDMI box which is really expensive

That was nanoleaf, but it wasn't synced.

Hello Mike. Which LG monitor are you using? It's looking great!
So you only get one power supply? Thinking of using one for monitor and one for the tv. Might be worth to buy 2 1pc
Are you just using adhesive tape to attach them to the back of your monitor?
I have a question. Will the hue play light bars work without the bridge? Can i just use the app to change colour ?
So these better then using the hue bloom behind a TV? Cast more light onto the walls?
