Been building the Hue light groups for a few years now. Just like you say..they may be a bit more but they work well. Latest addition is the square outdoor deck light and additional light strips in the kitchen above and under cabinets. Google assistant controls them when not using the magnetic hue switches.
Great video! Had a question on the LED light strips. Did you need two separate power plugs for the strip behind your desk and then for the one behind your monitor? Just wondering how that works because they are two separate light strips?
I love this setup, I want to do similar, have a strip for my desk and another for my monitor, I have a question though, do I have to buy two sets of light strips to be able to set different lights to the desk and monitor? I was confused at the beginning of the video because I saw only one box of light strip and the extension, I'd appreciate if you can answer
Great video thanks and what did u use foe the monitor? I seen u used a strip and extension for the desk. I dont want to get the wrong thing ;) thanks in advance
I go with the Smart Life app, the lights are 50% cheaper than Hue...But I've stuck with the app and products, all in all, if your getting control of all of your lighting with one app at whatever cost, it's just awesome.

white 3d wall covers is better than diffrent colors like cream color fot these lights ? better with white ? are they still works ? sticky parts still sticks on surface ? thanks
Great demo. Like your set up. If you don’t mind can you tell me how many inches off the wall is your desk? Mine is about 2 inches. Wondering if that willl be to close....
The Hue doesnt have addressable LED's so it can't do a rainbow in one lightstrip. It can do a color loop changing the whole lightstrip to different colors but not individual leds on the lightstrip
Great setup! I just wondered as I'm looking to wall mount my monitor, do the wall panels have any recessed space behind which would allow for the threading of cables?
Not really. They sit flush with the wall and dont think they would stick well if cables are routing behind it. You could try but I dont think it would work as well as you want. You can check out the install vid I did and see if that helps you any: ruclips.net/video/zWcCvsaHga4/видео.html
@@chrisdennis2930 Just thinking, I bet you could put your cables in a white cable raceway and then put the wall panels on either side of it so it blends in. But then the wall panels wouldnt line up up the wall where you dont need the cable raceway. Or you could continue to run it up the wall and make it look intentional. Some sort of border or something. I've also seen people do a false wall
That's a good suggestion. If I decide to go with wall panels I'll give some thought to incorporating a raceway as part of the design. Otherwise I'll build a stud wall or chop in a chase to hide the cables. Thanks for your help, much appreciated =)

I already got the TITAN CHAIR last week, so glad to see you have it. I'm sure that's a good sign lol. Did anyone see him test the "Video" effects out? I only saw him cover the Music and Game effect on the app. I wanted to know if the video mode works, that's the one where the colors are supposed to match what's going on on-screen making whatever you're looking at much more immersive. I originally thought that effect was only achievable if you had the Philips PLAY product bar thing but I heard it's do-able with just the light strips. :L
4 Months later, hey! I'm pretty much fully set up as of well, maybe a week after the OP! Lol! I have my speakers mounted on my wall, right beside my Ultrawide (same monitor as this dude) but read of many many issues with many of these LG monitors so may play it safe, and sell it, then get an Alienware AW20 or whatever, the white one, basically, even though it has a lower refresh rate. (120, vs LG's 144) but I think anyway it has the cooler aesthetics to make up for it and higher nit count for I think, more true color or something like that. I forgot the tech jargon I read about it.
Also, the video mode effects for the Phillips hue stuff is fucking kickass!! I went with a third party app called HUESTACEAN to get the most accurate colors in the areas I wanted and it's soooooooooooo good for movies and games!
