    One of the most valuable "tools" I've added as an owner operator is PrePass. I ran leased on the 1st year in this industry and I could not get the company to agree to getting PrePass.
    After the 1st of the year I obtained my own Authority and before hitting the road I invested in a PrePass device and account. Now I can legally bypass 4 out of 5 weight stations (saving time, fuel and potential inspections) and the savings in tolls almost pays for the monthly service fee. No, I'm not affiliated or compensated by PrePass or anyone (I work for a living).
    Thanks again for the informative and professional videos.

    Thank you for good and succinct videos. I would like more info regarding GPS, toll and scale devices. Also, who should I hire to install these devices in the truck? I'm brand new to the industry and I'm enjoying your videos.

    Hey Gill..good to hear some advice on bits and parts. the Garmin.."dezl"..is just their fun way of spelling Diesel....Deeeeezl..get it? And just so everyone knows...PLANTRONICS and GARMIN have been making airline/aviation quality headsets and GPS for 40 years!!! so the KNOW what they are doing. I have heard a lot of bad stuff re Rand GPS units...like you stated...bogus routes etc. Thanks again. Hey why not talk about the Kashmir or the HIndu Kush...?? My favorite place on the earth!!!

    • @Gill22
      @Gill22  3 года назад

      I actually didn’t know about the “Dezl” part but that makes sense! I remember being very confused on how to pronounce that when making this video 😂. Anyways glad you enjoyed it!

    What ELD do you use?

  • @frederickknapp5340
    @frederickknapp5340 2 года назад

    Rand McNally is useless for updates, I have a Garmin that 's better than that. I remember carrying a box of maps in my truck to get around every city. I use both for ELD and GPS. Man I wished I had this in 1999.. I have prepass, expresspass, macpass and TXpass.

    Nothing about back support, truckers have high rates of back issues

      There are a LOT of items I could've added and you're right... back support is huge.

    Do you have any tips or advice on someone looking for a decent paying job just after getting their CDL license and finishing school?

    • @Gill22
      @Gill22  3 года назад +2

      Great question Chelsea! In the beginning, it’s tough finding a decent paying job but a lot of the major carriers will offer you a nice bonus and some great benefits but not necessarily great pay. It’s only after the 1-2 years of experience and clean driving that you will begin finding jobs that pay really well.
      Not to mention, if you save up and buy your own truck, that’s where the real money is!
      Again, it’s definitely possible to make good/great money in trucking, you just need to stay patient in the beginning.
      Hope that helped!

    Rand McNally hasn’t updated their maps since 2018! See class action lawsuit.
