This video was great and very informative for me. I will be working for my brother's company as a dispatcher and this was easy to digest information for me as a beginner. I subscribed to your channel and will be watching more of your videos! Thanks so much for your time and content, it's greatly appreciated.
That music at the end is goated
I am a new dispatcher for a start up freight company and this was very helpful. Thank you
I will do my best to spread your channel to those I know...again great video!
🙌 Much appreciated-love the pace and all the information.
Thank you Gil, this video will be shown to my dispatchers as a training tool. Very detailed and broken down. I'm a fleet owner and we dispatch our own trucks. I'm in the process of training my daughter and her friend to dispatch for us. I have training materials for reatding but videos work best and your video is spot on. I learned a few tricks myself. Thanks again.
Thank you Gemini! I can do a much better job explaining how to book loads on DAT but since I’m new to making videos, I missed out on a few steps or talked about a few relatively unimportant concepts for too long. I will definitely consider updating this video in the future when I know I can do better!
Also, it’s so nice to hear your daughter and her friend getting into the business! Part of the reason why I started this channel is to get the younger generation, and people who are my age interested in the transportation industry! There are so many great opportunities here and I’m sure they’ll do great!
@@Gill22 Hi geminicraze. do you have an opportunity for the dispatcher. I am interested :)
I Am Me...Im looking to do the same for my daughters. Im starting out now and want both of them involved one day. I'd appreciate it if you were open to me contacting you directly. Im open to any advice you could give me
Hello, I would like to dispatch for you
@@Gill22 When and if a broker calls you for a load, is that the moment you negotiate the pay if you feel it ain't worth the drive? cos sometimes what they are willing to pay is just low as heck for the distance.
I would watch this video even it was 24 hours long, because it consists a lot of useful info that needed for who wanna use DAT power. Thank you Gill22.
also cool video edited )))
I've watched and saved several of your video's because I'm planning on having my boxtruck and LLC by next Spring. I've seen ALOT of useful and priceless info in those video's. Thank you for taking the time to break thing's down the way you do. Blessings and more success sent to you my brother.
I had subscribed to your channel last week & keep getting top quality information.... Thank you for speaking out clear without using slang language, or As I see every day using similar word as (Like, You know, I know, Etc, Etc) it’s totally annoying even for English as second language as myself…..
TY for your time and information. I appreciate you. ❤
Yeah, thanks bro, I needed the video. Picking my own load is going to be great. 1❤.
Great content & video... RUclips needs more content creators that are willing to take the extra time to go through the information. Great Job!
Yes, I agree. There are not a lot of successful trucking company owners that are willing to share their "secrets". Hopefully, I'm able to change that and help new drivers/owner operators make more money and enjoy their career! Thank you again for your kind words!
@@Gill22 we appreciate you!!!
From Canada, I say thank you very much, you are awesome.
Thanks a lot Gill for that much information🤗🤗.
your video was really awesome and you're doing a great job, its appreciative.😊😊

I have a friend who just got a Sprinter Truck and I was looking for information to share with them! Man, this is so informative and easy to follow along. You did an excellent job! I definitely hit the like And subscribe button with the Bell😊
You’re a really good friend! 🤝🏽
I would really like to see a "How to negotiate" video. I am a recent CDL graduate and currently have two low mile Freightliners and one van trailer ready to put to work. Thanks again!
I'm in the process of uploading a "How I Successfully Negotiate Freight Rates" video right now! I wish you the best of luck and I'll keep putting out videos to help you grow your business!
Thank you so much for this video! I have about 10 years experience in intermodal dispatching and I'm looking to transition to dry van dispatching as it seems that there's way less stress. Thanks for all the info I will continue watching your vids.
Intermodal dispatching sounds interesting but I’ve never done it. How does that work and where do you usually dispatch from?
@@Gill22 I worked for a company called Evans Delivery. And intermodal is pretty much has to do with all the containers that come in from overseas. Our drivers would go to the rail yards and pick them up from there and make the delivery. Where it differentiates from Dry vans is that the driver is responsible for returning the empty container once the unload is finished. And every steamship line has a different return location, that can vary every day. It's just much more involved.. Which is why I want to get into dry van dispatching, looks much easier. No dealing with empty returns or nothing of that nature you know ? Just negotiating prices and making sure you're one step ahead of your driver's to keep them running.
Very helpful video 👍🏾
Gill I Iike your video it really helpful to me and other people. My question to you is when you said how do I post my truck did you mean truck company post their trucks.
Hi, Gill22! Thank you a lot for this video with so useful information! Can you help me - which documents I need as a truck dispatcher to sign them with brokers and with drivers? How to sign those documents via internet?
Hey bro, Great info! I have been thinking of doing this for some time. Your experience is quite convincing! I want to give it a TRY first but I have some questions.
Im in So. Cal, I can rent a cargo van; It looks like I can set up an account on the load apps BUT will they require past experience, personal info and or specific requirements?
I saw in other postings that there are stringent requirements because these companies wont just give their loads to just anyone. It looks like carriers must have certifications/licenses/permits exaggerated insurances, is that correct?
Im assuming that the regular insurance coverage from the rental company will not suffice?
Love your videos bro! Quick question: if I am driving a straight box truck can I pick up van loads also ? Or do brokers specifically look for vans to take on those loads?
yes u can
Hey yo Definitely amazing it’s so clear
Thank you Paul! Glad you enjoyed it! I should've zoomed in more to show what I was doing but, I'm fairly new to recording content and editing so I didn't realize how small everything would look on a phone.
I might remake this video in the future but, we'll see.
Thank you bro🔥👌
Thanks for the tutorial. 👍
No problem! Hope you enjoyed.
Thank you for your help bro this video is really helpful
Glad it helped!
Thanks Gill22 your advise is very helpful. I am currently researching the market to up a delivery service with my cousin. Any helpful tips will be gladly appreciated.
Good vid. Thank you
Hi Buddy you are doing a great job by making these videos, please don't feel that you are lacking in any way as a perfectionist we will always find something to add, Once great job 👍 keep doing the good work and yes we would love to see a video on how to negotiate a load for better rates with the Broker. Rub Rakha 👍
Hey thanks man I really appreciate that! If you check the videos on my channel, you will see a video titled "How I Negotiate Rates With Brokers" where I talk about negotiating load rates.
That was very helpful, thank you. I will definitely use your page. I have been a CDL holder for thirty six yrs, I'm changing up my game and doing Hotshot work . Could you give any advice on how to increase my revenue, with the brokers ? I am waiting to see your next segment on negotiation techniques . I'm going to purchase the DAT PROGRAM. And use your plan.
Hi Gill, i was wondering if the DAT offers loads for containers. We usually work local in Chicago in intermodal and i have seen similar load boards but they don’t offer loads for intermodal
Hi! which would you recommend for a dispatcher?
Hey guys I have my own cargo van and I’m just starting out. Will this load board be helpful for me?
Thank you buddy
Yes, please make a video on how to negotiate. Awesome videos, keep up the good work.
Here is a video I found about negotiations with brokers. Talks about low market also. ruclips.net/video/9KGJDpQf7X0/видео.html

Thank you! I might have to re-make this video and zoom in anytime i’m talking about specific functions. Knowing how to edit now, i could do a lot better job.
@@Gill22 Lol I was speaking in terms of content/info. I'm planning on making a business and have someone drive for me while I dispatch
Yup kudos negotiating
Gill, if I'm running a box truck, how do I get loads round trip?
What is a minimum rate i should accept if owning a 26ft straight box truck and market area is kinda average(yellow) ? To make at least 4-6.000$ gross a week of course
Hi Would you suggest DAT to Canadian Carriers?
Awesome video was very helpfull. Do yu have a video in the paper work aspect of it, and how payment works.
No, not yet. There’s way too much information to cover to get into all of the details but overtime I will try and cover everything!

Yes on the negotiation, please 🙏
I made that video already! Don’t know if you were able to see it 👌🏽
Can u please make a video, how u get pay after u finish the load
Show us how to negotiate! We need the game! 🎉
Tnx for the video. I got one question, can we make a scheduled pickup/delivery with some company to avoid this everyday contacts with brokers and searching for the loads and routes? Probably we can, but how often is that in this business, pros and cons?
Gil, Thanks!!! Great info. i will have to save this and refer back to it a few times! Lots to digest. i have a question...I am trying to decide beteween getting a dry van and a conestoga setup. I have pulled vans and flatbeds. Im hoping to get access to more loads. Am I crazy? Do dispatchers know you can load a conestoga on a loading dock? What say ye? Thanks. (you should offer a pdf guide for purchase with all the video topics and notes, I would easily buy one)
Conestoga trailers are incredibly versatile, as you already know, but for many people it may just be overkill. Most trucking companies focus on specific industries and will ship specific types of load which will of course determine the equipment they buy. However, if you want versatility in the loads that you carry, then the conestoga setup may be for you.
I surprisingly haven’t seen many people with that setup on the road and it’s something i’ve also been looking into!
@@Gill22 I see a hundred a day out here on I-5 running N-S. Seems to be getting more popular. We haul lots of lumber that MUST be tarped. Fancy kiln-dried wood. So a conestoga is SWEET! But I want to have ACCESS to other types of loads for backhaul N-bound outta LA. Thanks for your reply.
@@redleader Ahhh i see. Just another tip... for dry van loads the inside of your trailer HAS to be clean and dry so if you’re planning on using a conestoga, I reckon you’ll have to spend some time cleaning up the debris left by lumber or other flatbed loads before you pickup a dry van load.
I would still recommend it but just something to keep in mind!
Thanks
I've been looking at becoming a broker and taking classes. Just doing some research about the business. So very new to logistics in this area. Are brokers looking for Owner Operators with full equipment, example a dry van including obviosly a truck. Or are the boards for example that say Van or Flatbed providing the trailer for the truck and Bob tailing to pcik up?? Thank You
Good video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Question regarding 24' versus 26' Peterbilt 337 (26GVWR)

Yes sir make a video how to negotiate with broker
Hello Gill, thank you indeed for putting efforts to make useful videos for trucking, especially for dispatching. I just wanted to say that is it possible for you speak a bit slower because I hunch many non native speakers are watching your videos as well.
this was really helpful, please make us video about how to get dedicated rout.
ok will do!
It was great. That is why i do wanna watch your next vedio which illustrate how to negotiate with brokers. Thanks in advance
Thank you so much, that means a lot! Just wanted to let you know that video HAS been posted if you haven't had the chance to see it yet.
Gill sir this was very nice i am driving van ford Transit
I'm a new sprinter van company with my own authority. I'm asking for honest truth. Do you recommend using DAT load board for this? I'm based out of Phoenix AZ area. Are there many loads coming out of Phoenix? I'm eager to get working.
kindly make a video on negotiating power.
Nice video
Is there loads for 16foot trucks or only 24-26?
Which load boards do u people use in canada? primarily ontario
so you need a federal motor authority number to use this ??
I have a 26 foot box truck with lift gate
Ssa pa g need ur help from Indiana want to start In sprinter Vans... what to do plz help
khich k rakh jatta very great knowledge, explained deeply. keep it up bro
Thank you veerji 🙏🏽
Bro i am from Canada try to make something for us as well if possible
I've found some box trucks that are not dock height. How can you find loads on load boards for those?
In your opinion is there consistent loads available for 26’ box trucks if you are willing to go where the freight is? Trying to decide if I should start out in trucking with my own box truck or go the cdl corporate driver route for a few years and then buy/lease me a semi. Thanks!
If I had to choose between the two, i would DEFINITELY pick the CDL to Owner Operator route all day.
@@Gill22 Good to know. I appreciate the knowledge you are putting out with your videos.
Thanks for very useful information, please make a video for how to negotiate the rate with brokers I really appreciate that.

I’ve already made that video! Check my channel to see it
do you have a link to DAT 30 day free trial?
as salaam alaykum what do you think about the load board for auto carriers is there good money in it or should i just get me a flatbed? im not sure what to do right now i have a new 5 car carrier and not sure what i should do
As Salaam Alaykum brother! Here are a few load boards that you should look into:
Centraldispatch.com
Carload USA
Car Hauler Dispatch
uShip Car Hauling
Reliable Auto Dispatch
Car Load Board
There are many more but these seem to be the biggest.
I’m driving myself do I need to sign myself up as one?
Hey Gill! Does dat power have options for power only?
All the load boards I have dealt with offer power only loads. You can also register as a carrier with brokers like TQL, CH Robinson, Amazon etc., they also have power only loads.
where will i get terms and conditions for dispatch broker
How do you post a power only meaning I have no trailer.
Was it DAT that has now made their load board directly accessible to dispatchers?
Gill g where to get remote dispatcher job? please guide!
coffee made already lol
Hi dear,
Nice tips and teaching please make a video showing how to talk and negotiate with brokers. Thank you
Hi Abdul, thank you for the nice comment! I’ve already made a video explaining how to negotiate. You can see it on my channel.

No problem Mike!
Will it be hard to land consistent work on DAT as a brand new owner operator. I’m saving up and hoping to make the jump to buy a truck in the next year or two and just wondering if DAT is good for me. Also not sure what type of truck I’ll be getting at the moment. I’ve been around trucks my whole life and I’ve been a fill in driver at the construction company I work for the past 4 years. I’ve done dump trucks, low boy, and flatbed trailers.
It might be difficult at the beginning, especially because it’s a low market.
Here is a video I found that can help you negotiate with brokers
ruclips.net/video/9KGJDpQf7X0/видео.html
I want to buy a truck and i want to work under my authority
So can I find a load with truck only or i need to get trailer as well, and is this cpm for truck and trailer or only for truck actually am little bit confused
Great question!
1) You CAN find loads with truck only. They're called "Power Only" loads on load boards. You don't NEED a trailer to start picking up loads.
2) CPM essentially tries to calculate ALL your trucking business expenses on a per mile basis. That includes truck and trailer. If you don't have a trailer, it will include just the truck. It really depends on how detailed the CPM calculator is. Some are very basic, others are very advanced and include a lot of factors.
I hope that answered your question!
With your time into this and experience is it worth going in to business for yourself? And if so which route should I take rental or lease to start out? Or buy a brand new truck which only lasts about 300 to 400,000 miles because of the deff system?
Most definitely get into this. I wouldn’t be in this business if there wasn’t a lot of potential in it! And I would recommend leasing over renting.
They last way longer than that and at 400k you can do a dpf delete
Great video 👍🏻K&S XPRESS TRANSPORTATION L.L.C.🚚💨
Thank you!
Do I need DOT OR MC number to register for DAT ?
Can I post my truck but I don’t got a trailer or do I need to get a trailer before I get this app? Tya
You can use the "Power Only" option to find loads without a trailer, however, I will warn you that it may be really tough to find and get good rates on these loads not matter what load board you use.
Are you saying that the broker is not gonna pay for fuel surcharges?
I need to learn how to negotiate with the brokers and more information about booking the load’s because I’m starting off as a dispatcher
Here is a video I found that talks about negotiating with brokers ruclips.net/video/9KGJDpQf7X0/видео.html

Which vehicle is the fastest way to get a load: A cargo van (Promaster cargo van), a Sprinter, or a box truck.
I don’t have much experience with either of those vehicles but just logically speaking, I believe the more space you have the better.
So, in my opinion, box truck would be the way to go out of all those options since it could do everything a cargo van and Sprinter can do and more!
