    The smartest thing that should be on everyone's mind right now should be to invest in different streams of income that are not dependent on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver, and digital currencies (BTC ETH...).

    A truck driving job can earn you a good living. There’s also lots of jobs out there in the industry, that aren’t worth having, I’ll give you that.
    But, if you really want to make it as a trucker, whether company driver or owner operator, YOU NEED TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
    I bought my first trucking after receiving $215k from Federal Grant for Trucking and Transportation business startup program in 2015.
    Today been an owner operator after taxes, fuel and licensing I profit $190,000 in the bank. My advice; Get your own authority and work open broker boards for trips. A good starting place as an o/o is to pull a reefer. Try to stay away from dry freight. There are too many green o/o’s in dry freight, and too many coming and going. The competition is fierce, so it is difficult to get high paying loads. Reefers pay more money. If you have some flatbed experience, you will get even better loads and better miles. I wish everyone reading this comment a successful business week.

    For anyone thinking you have to work with brokers its not the case... Dont be scared to get on the phone and call customers and work with them directly.. Especially if you're locally customers appreciate having someone local they can rely on. Also you're cutting out the brokers cut.. If you can do quarterly mini bids with customers directly you're gonna be in good shape.. This is coming from a broker of 7 years. If you're gonna get a box truck get a 26ft W liftgate.. Nice video. Keep it up Gill.Trucking is a great occupation which yields a lot of money but not everyone is lucky speaking from the other side if you understand, I was into trucking about 6 years ago and as at then I worked for FedEx before I went on driving trucks for companies which I was taken advantage of until I became so fed up and made up my mind of being an entrepreneur of my own and decided to hire and highly skilled and licensed grant writer and editor to help me through my application on government grants and I was awarded $500k as a startup capital and today I can proudly bold of owning my own truck company in which I make over 37k a month as my profit and now I'm in the process of starting up a daycare business for my wife and a salon for my sister. So therefore determination is a key to good living and erasing the mentality of being and underdog too helps a lot, knowing your worth also, I know not everyone is determined to be successful in life but my advice is for you to not be among the Unsuccessful ones.

    I've been in the transportation field for a few decades. This video would be very helpful to anyone wanting to start a box truck company. Don't expect to be cashing fat checks that put you in the black, right off. It takes times and there's a huge learning curve. I feel the most important thing after the equipment, permits and insurance is satisfied, is to get at least 1 person who knows the industry. They will be very valuable to you. There's money to be made as long as your employees are able to take care of the truck and customers. Which is very hard to find.

The numbers are close as he specified however understanding market rates, revenue and expenses can change. Outside of that STELLAR video fam! Just do you own due diligence on the specifics that weren’t mentioned avg cost per week for fuel, areas to avoid, the woes of dispatching and respective fees, factoring among things. Remember it’s in the details and be LOYAL to no team except on load by load base. This is an extremely demanding and cut throat job, career and or business. Despite it all set yourself for freedom not failure. NEVER be afraid to simply ask a question- if you short change yourself NOW you’ll do the same for the generations behind you. Selah!

    Very informative video Gill! LA viewer here. Been watching your videos for some time now. I'm currently 7 months into the owner/op venture, and recently purchased a vehicle as well as found a dedicated lane lasting a year roughly a month and a half ago via broker for DDU.
    Also never knew FedEx routes existed! Sounds like a definite future investment that could pay off. I'd imagine that's an expense for owner/ops with a small fleet though, right? How many trucks would you recommend when starting this? I'd imagine them to be 26ft as well, right?

    • @906lane
      @906lane Год назад +4

      I had a friends that had 13 26 for box and had an account with FedEx for 8 years. They kept Nicole and dime him to death and he lost that business and the account with FedEx. They would have over 100 stops per truck sometimes, plus FedEx strict timeline when you could deliver and pickup package it fucking crazy and you get hit with penalties if you are to early on pickup and late on drops off. That account is not what people think it is and it can be very hard on you and your drivers to meet the deadlines. He grossed over $900,000, but with the cost of fuel, insurance, truck cost, truck maintenance, worker compensation, pay into unemployment insurance, truck insurance, adt payroll account and etc... the money starts to go very fast and before you know it you can't keep up. He had to buy 2 extra use truck to to have back in case he had a break down in his fleet cause you can't miss the route FedEx assign you are they fined you a penalty and take money from you.
      This is Southern California by the way.

      @@906lane I'm wondering how a driver covers 100 stops a day and how that pay works out. Seems like you'd be paying way more than $500 per driver even on the low end.
      I currently work with a company that just started and is taking in multiple usps routes. It seems like there's maybe 36 max routes each night and the most stops is around 14 (they deliver to USPS). I'd imagine something smaller like that would be much more manageable if you hire owner/ops. Sure your profit wouldn't be as good, but you'd save all that money on the trucks, insurance, and repairs- right? Why not follow that model rather than buying or renting a ton of trucks?

    • @yauminepaxton
      @yauminepaxton Год назад

      @@906lane i used to work for FedEx as a delivery driver and what Gill22 said about doing your research before getting into this is very true. FedEx isn’t like ups or usps. UPS and USPS both have all of there services together unlike FedEx and if you don’t do your research you’ll be getting into the wrong service. I believe your friend got into FedEx ground and not FedEx freight and this is what i mean about FedEx having there services divided. FedEx has i think between 5 to 8 different branches of there services and you have to look into what you’re getting into
