- In this episode we explore the Minerva reefs, which are submerged atolls located in the middle of the pacific ocean. Closest to Tonga and Fiji, but it is owned by neither country. There is no land, but the reef provides good shelter for boats sailing to/from New Zealand. What a magical place!
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. We found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are now sailing across the Pacific Ocean!!

The best part of your sailing is the crew. You have a group of people that work well together and you don’t seem to have any diva behaviors. That rare these day. I can’t wait to see the reunion with Colin and the dogs!

This is the biggest issue with Navionics. The zoom can bring you undone very quickly. Just ask the Vestas Team in the Round the world yacht race. It happens to the best..

My father and Mother lost their boat on the black rocks in Fiji , Dick who has since past from Musket Cove was so supportive and helped them with accomodation , rescuing them and salvaging what gear they could from the yacht . Being ferro it’s now part of the reef . I have sailed past that reef several times now and always have a little lump in the back of my throat .

So sad to hear about your friends losing their yacht on a reef in Fiji. We had Open CPN satellite charts and found heaps of unmarked reefs all over Fiji. How good is Minerva reel. Best place we have ever been too !!
