Thanks for thé video, just purchased a cube with cvt, with 120k mile on it. just to drive around town I hope it last. As soon I get I will get the Trns oil change.
I have the same car, It is awesome no problems at all 140 000 miles runs like new. I flush all the fluids, change all filters, changed all spark plugs and spark plug wires. Ceramic brake pads. Go to a great mechanic and have them do a 3 step fuel fuel injection cleaning service. Make sure they use BG products. It gets rid of all carbon build up The car roars now. Also use royal purple engine oil it is better then mobil 1 one oil. It drives like a race car now!!!! Also use Trico Titan wipers they work the best.
Impressive! Good Job!👍 I like to keep up with all the maintenance on my vehicles also, that way the vehicles happy, I'm happy, and the vehicle runs much better with fewer break downs. Thanks for watching and your comment. 😊
4 qts 6 oz, drain and fill. 19mm draing plug bolt My mom has a 2010 with 72k, she bought it woth 60k and the stealership said it was "serviced" before, we shall see when I rip her Cube apart and go from there. I was going to do the "filters" but they are just fine screens, maybe with an actual paper element but I'll digress, changing the fluid is detrimental first and foremost. If there are tons of shavings and noises already, you have better things to worry about than your fluid. Replacement with either idemitsu or Valvoline, maybe Castrol if i can find it. NS-2 fluid type. Not sure if NS-3 has backwards compatibility like engine oils and gear oils.
I tried screwdriver and key and STILL managed to bust the clip. Popped it back down in the intended orientation and have been checking to see any rise in the cap. Zero. Even after bumpy roads. Now it's easy to check fluid levels.
I see that Castrol Transmax is applicable for several vehicles, including some vehicles that require ATF. (Maybe the new bottle design shows more clearly). Did you have any issues by using a broad range CVT fluid application at all? Instead of using the NS-2 only application? Thank you
So far the car is running fine. At the time, she had just purchased the car recently, so I just changed it as routine maintenance and will keep changing it at about 30,000 to 40,000 miles. If you want these CVT transmissions to last it's best not to leave the oil in there too long. Right now the Castrol fluid has about 7,000 miles on it. Thanks for watching👍
It runs a lot better on my mom's Nissan Quest. Lots of the issues like shuttering is gone. Now I need to find why is her tyranny leaking very little. I'm hoping it's because brake masters didn't seal it all the way correctly. But I do recommend this brand.
If it's leaking and it wasn't before I'd bring it back to them and tell them about it. Thanks for watching and for your feedback. 👍 Hope all goes well with your mother's Nissan.
Hi Riverdrinker, I'm no expert but I've heard that these transmissions don't last very long, especially if not maintained very well. This is my daughter's car and I want it to last her a long time so I'm going to change it about every 25K miles or 5 years whatever comes first. If you can do it yourself it doesn't cost much. Thanks for watching! 👍😊
Is it still going? I am thinking about trying the castrol . money is a object so the fluid price is not a concern but lasting long and good fluid is.....i baby my car
Yes, she's still running strong. It's my daughter's car and she drives her easy. It's best to take it easy on these CVT transmissions if you want them to last long. Thanks for asking, and good luck with your car.👍🙏😊
I stumbled into this video, it is very informative, and detailed , thank you, My car is 2014 does not go to the second gear right away, I am hoping changing the translation oil and transmission filler that my solve the problem . what is your intake on that ? again thanks for the video
You're Welcome! These are CVT transmissions "Continuously Variable Transmission" They don't really have gears, but an oil and filter change may help if you are having problems. Do you have any transmission codes? A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) does not make use of gears like a basic automatic transmission. Rather, it uses 2 pulleys linked by a belt. It's a bit like a snowmobile transmission: One pulley connects to the engine, the other one links to the transmission. The belt transfers the power between them.
Sorry, this isn't my car and I never had to change the fuel filter, but here's a link to a video that may help you. ruclips.net/video/t8kOKEq_idQ/видео.html
There is a transmission filter in the transmission itself. You need to take off the transmission pan, the part that the drain bolt/plug goes into. Sorry I did not change the transmission filter and do not have a video on it.
I’m going to be trying this soon. But after I’ve drained the old fluid and filled it with the new one. Do I turn on the car with the dipstick off? Or do I put everything back together before warming the new oil? Please help
Hi Eric, You can leave the dipstick in or out if it's just sitting in your driveway, don't drive with it out, and let it warm up when you check it. If you have no leaks and you put in the same amount as you took out you should be all set.👍🙏😊
😫😤 argh geeze!!! You gotta temove the pan and replace the primary and secondary filters!!!! Argh!!! Like changing a diaper without wiping the butt clean...like changing the oil and leaving old dirty filter...like reusing a condom over and over again!!!! @@WhipCityWrencher there is a hidden filter ... One is the screen and the hidden paper filter looks like a mini oil filter held in by 3 10mm bolts on the valve body
I 'm looking to buy either a Nissan Cube CVT or a 4 speed auto . I have had automatic cars before , filters as well engine oil change once every 18 months and never had a problem . I have been told if i buy a CVT to change the gearbox oil every year! would I be right in thinking this gearbox is so much more fragile and less durable then a 4 speed auto or a 5 speed Manuel ?
I don't know too much about these CVT transmissions, but yes that's what I've heard also. JMHO. but after every 30,000 miles, if you change the Transmission oil and filter which I will do next time, they will probably last a long time if driven gently. The 4 or 5-speed transmissions can probably take more punishment than the CVT without failing. JMHO Thanks for watching and your question👍
@@WhipCityWrencher Thankyou for an Honest answer, Sure the CVT might give you a better ride and more fuel economy but the mood music is going towards you need to give the high maintenance CVT so much fuss and attention .

That's because it doesn't all drain out. If you have no leaks put in the same amount that you drain out otherwise you'll end up overfilling it.
