You are really upping your game lately with the cuts and scenery. Very high production value! Could you consider doing a video on common pests and issues perhaps? We are almost in the same climate and my maples are not enjoying life nearly as much as yours and as a semi-newbie it's hard to diagnose overwatering, underwatering, mildew, aphids, etc.
Hey Markus, will give this some thought. I think it is a spring-time video right? But to be honest.. I have very little issues, which makes such a video a little hard to scope!
Timely “what to do” videos are much appreciated. Winter protection videos/information are always full of valuable techniques we can add to our arsenal to help protect our trees. Thanks, keep growing
Glad you like them! Will try to keep on producing timely videos. Challenge is.. Between producing and publishing time passes. And I like to show the outcome too. So hard to do real rightly timed vids!
Thank you, you make this easy to understand. There are a few different cycles in southern climbs, but the principles are the same with the tree's reaction to temperature.
Oh my god, cuttings. He did a video on rooting cuttings, which I tried, and finally got the hang of. It's handy to be a woman with a big purse, but you can wander through garden centers and take some awesome cuttings! You want a bag of some kind that you can have a plastic bag with wet paper towels in it, to keep the cuttings in good shape until you get home. Free is awesome.
Hey Jelle Thanks for all the great infos. For me as a beginner, this is priceless 😃👍 If you could do another video for winter-care, it would be awesome! 4:45 ... 🤣😂🤣 (i watched it 5 times!)
Great video! Thanks for the helpful information. I'm in Michigan, USA (zone 5b). Leaves started turning a couple weeks ago, but most are still on the trees. We've however had a couple good frosts and a few nights below freezing. Is it too late for some light wiring on deciduous trees? I don't think you mentioned conifers, is wiring better at another time for them?
It is getting tricky. I myself wire throughout the year, but I am lucky with generally mild winters (7a/b). I have had small branches die on my after winter wiring on especially hornbeam and japanese maples. So unless you can shelter them from deep frost, I would probably wait till early spring in your case.
@@GrowingBonsai thanks for responding! I'll be conservative and wait. I might wire a few branches I'm not attached to and see what happens. This is my first winter with bonsai, and I'm quite confused by the weather. We've had frost and freezing nights, but it's going to be over 70° F twice next week, so it's still very much autumn.
Hello Jelle, thanks for this helpful hints. Since I’m Working as Bonsai-hobbyist I dig over my vegetable garden and put my trees in there. Always with appr. 5 cm soil above the bonsai pot. It never failed. The problem is that I don’t shelter my trees and sometimes some birds are sitting on the branches. What can happen during the year, too.
great video. this will be my first autumn/winter with a selection of young trees in the north of the UK. hopefully they'll make it through. thanks for the tips
I hope so too! But in general it should be OK as long as you do not put them in full wind and sun, and do not allow them to freeze beyong maybe -8C (For most temperate species)
This a great video Jelle and but felt the pain as the gate post broke - I hope you contacted the owner :0 My wife always told me that; denim on denim; was a brave decision...🤣😉
Isn't it just back to the nineties? The fence .. I put it back up and there was a latch on the side which I reconnected. Did not seem to be broken, just disconnected; I told the nearest farmhouse and they would check.
Winter protection video would be great Jelle! You have my vote
Noted! Will see how much expertise I have for this! Our winters do not get much colder than -15 most winters so I do not need extreme protetion!
@@GrowingBonsai Thanks Jelle, What type of oil insecticide do you use if you don’t mind me asking
@@Marceldbd Hi marcel, just a winteroil treatment I got from a local gardening store. it is quite normal in biological gardening!
excellent video Jelle! I enjoyed the Fall demo of what happens when you sit on the fence!
Me too!

Another great video Jelle could not stop laughing when the gate broken 🤣 great advice 👍 👏 👌
;)
Hi Jelle! How do you mix your winter spray? What kind of soap, what kind of oil, what ratio?
Hey! I use some winterwash available in stores, and do not mix it myself. There are good products available in gardening stores!
Thank you, grrat presentation , i agree with Fertilising during the winter period
So nice of you, thank you for letting me know!

Glad it was helpful!
Pefectly timed video. Another great thing to do is to go bargain hunting in hardware stores/garden centers for reduced shrubs and tree ;).
Ooohw I like that! But I should not go hunting!

certainly in the back of mind!
The video is very interesting 😀🌲🍁🌳🍂🌱
I saw some trees in the mountain like the one in the 23 seconds video is very beautiful
Cool! Which montains were you?
@@GrowingBonsai I am in Kurdistan, my home is near this mountain . The tree has few fruits but is completely dry
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It has helped so much for my journey into bonsai.
So nice of you! Lets hope there is much more info to come! Happy growing!
Thx a lot for all this Good Tips! 👍👍👍
My pleasure!
👍🏼🙏🌳
:D Thx
Thanks.
You're welcome
Thanks Jelle. There's always something useful and informative in your videos
Thank you Alex! What did you get this time?
What was the recipe for the pest spray please?
I use neem oil and dish liquid mixed with water in a spray bottle, usually works pretty good
Yes this works. Or a prefab winterwash for trees!
Superb video Jelle. Great but simple explanations of tree biology and I appreciate the editing that went into this.
Glad you enjoyed it! Editing is still one of those things where I am learning every time! So it is great to hear it is moving in the right diretion
Great video! Thanks for the helpful information.

:) Yes, that works well!
Hello ,what about how much of water trees needs in winter time ?
Here I do not need to water my trees once foliage is down, as our winters are humid.

Liquid organic fertilizer still work right wenn above 5° ??
True, but it is slower in the release!
Another nice video. I have a rooted Juniper air layer. Do you think i can still separate it?
Yes you can! That is assuming the next weeks you do not get frost. IF you are still a good number of weeks away, I would go for it.
I would like to see a video about protecting trees over winter. Also a video about how to sit on a fence haha
I am not on the fence on many things, so that is out. Winter care, yeah, I should make one!

It was a very serious video ;)
First! 🌿
Second!
The recent rise in equestrian related backdrops makes me think Jelle is teasing a video in which he rides in on a horse….
I guess one could say I am known to be in stables every once in a while. But not for myself.
"Bonsaiama" LOL
