As a licensed Cosmetologist & Esthetician & MUA, I can assure everyone that it's just a myth that shaving makes your hair growth back thicker, or even coarser. It does however feel coarser only because when you shave it, you make a blunt edge on the hair, so when it starts to grow back in, it sticks strain out and doesn't lay flat like it would normally. That's why we think it's comes in coarser. But the only way women are going to produce more facial hair is to have an increase in the testosterone hormone, which is the male hormone that causes facial hair, and underarm, leg & arm hair to grow. It also causes boys voices to deepen when they hit puberty. Hope this helps! So go ahead and shave those faces ladies!
What is the best way to get rid of hair? ( thread, wax, shaving, using Shaving cream as in Nair ) I have kind of a hairy face * embarrassing * & want to get rid of it.
+Evanie Salinas I wouldnt put Nair on my face! Ive burned the heck out my legs, bikini area with it many times. lol. They do make a face one which may be less harsh but still 0.o To answer, what is the best, the best is probably what you dont mind doing and how much upkeep you want. Shaving is so easy but you would need to do it more often than waxing or threading since you arent pulling the hair out, just cutting off the top part. Waxing can make it grow back finer, because you are slightly damaging the follicle by ripping the hair out, so that is a plus. Maybe try shaving first to see how it goes and move from there! And dont be embarrassed! You are definitely not the only one! Or everyone wouldn't be doing it!
+Kristin Waid thanks!! would threading do the same as waxing??? I kind of don't want to shave because I get a lot of ingrown hairs when I shave legs, etc.
+Carol Sharma I have a question about that then, and I'm not trying to attack you; I'm genuinely interested. I have not tried shaving on my face, but everywhere else I have shaved has grown back much much darker. My stomach is all peach fuzz and after I shaved a little around my belly button, it now grows back more than five times as long and black instead of blonde fuzz. Same with my legs and toes. So is that "myth" only a myth for specific people or what?
No...it is most likely hormonal changes and coincidental. It is biologically impossible for shaving to cause hair to grow back darker and thicker. People don't think this all the way through...when you shave you are cutting the hair from above or at the surface of the skin...this does not effect the ROOT of the hair and most of these hairs aren't even in growth stage when you shave it.
The reason your hair seems thicker after shaving is because there is a blunt end on the hair instead of the fine, tapered end it has naturally. Cutting hair does not change thickness or growth, or color. It may appear darker for the same reason it appears thicker: you have cut off the finer, lighter part of the hair. Waxing can, however, make it come back finer and lighter!
+Emily Radka I wanted to write this explanation but since english isn't my first language and i'm lazy, lol, i didn't know to write it! Thanks for this, i hope more women read this because i can't belive we live on the internet era and some ppl still belive the myths their granda told them and doesn't take 5 min to google about it p.s. sorry for my bad english
+Emily Radka Not true. Even when you wax it after and it grows back "normally" without the end being cut, it still looks thicker than how it was before shaving. Beware!
I used to shave my face and the peach fuzz did grow back thicker for me. I did love how smooth my makeup went on after I shaved, but the peach fuzz was so bad my mom pointed out. I still continue to wax my face and recommend it so much more! It exfoliates as well :)
Is there a specific brand of wax you would recommend? I am looking to try this, but am afraid that some would be too harsh (I have also heard that you have to let your hair grow to about a quarter of an inch before waxing, so is there one you use that can get shorter hairs?)
I work at a medical skin care and plastic surgery office... this is an at-home version of a dermaplane if you wanna look it up. I get this done by a professional once a month. Just an fyi, 1. don't do this more than once a month like she says she does 2. you can wear makeup afterward if you want. I definitely 100% recommend wearing sunscreen tho, whether you wear makeup or not. You have no idea the impact the sun has on your skin, especially after this procedure 3. this is great for people of ALL skin types, especially oily. Yes you'll notice that you may break out (whether you did before this or not) after the first few times you do this, but that's simply because you're truly getting all the gunk out of your skin that you didn't even know you had 4. your hair doesn't grow back any differently
Lana Is god If you do it more than once a month then you're constantly stripping your skin. It's not necessary and can cause irritation. At the office I work at we recommend doing this procedure every 4-6 weeks. You should always exfoliate your skin everyday tho, no matter your skin type
iickles It doesn't necessarily need to be downwards. I notice when I get mine done that she goes upwards on my forehead and upwards on my upper cheek bones. i believe it depends on your skin type (thin, thick, etc) Since I don't perform the procedure, I can't really tell ya for sure tho. I only know what my clinician has told and done on me, and she was trained by the person who invented this procedure 😅
The more and more I watch you, the more I like you! With every video. I've been watching you more about 6 months an you are by far the realist, most down to earth person on RUclips in my opinion!! You are so amazing. You have taught me make up tips an tricks i never even knew existed! And ones I used every single day now! Love you Carli 🐧❤️
I started doing this a couple months ago! I made a video all about it if anyone wants to see. I am Hispanic, I had dark peach fuzz & my makeup would just cling to the hairs on my face. After trying this my makeup looks great & all of my dry skin is gone!!
Hair LOOKS thicker/darker when it first grows back because the hair has blunt edges. But it doesn't actually thicken or darken your hair. But once it fully grows again naturally, it will be the same as before.
Here is just a quick piece of information for anyone who may be wondering: Shaving does not make hair grow back thicker. Due to the fact that you are cutting the hair at the surface of the skin instead of removing the hair from the root, the hair appears to grow in thicker. It appears that way because the hair has a blunt cut to it instead of its natural shape at the end. This also makes it feel more prickly and thicker. If you have an epilator, wax, tweeze, or thread, you notice that the hair appears to grow in thinner each time. Removing the hair from the root also slows the hair growth because the follicle has to regrow entirely instead of just pushing the hair out of the pore (which is what happens after shaving). I hope this was helpful and makes some sort of sense.
I'm so glad women are Finally doing this because it helps those like me that are self conscious for Having to do it due to hormonal overgrowth. I have to pluck black hair from my chin upper lip and areas of my cheeks DAILY or I'd have a full beard (no shit) and I do this twice a month (because my skin is so dry and flakes) and I use a cordless shaver in between for the shiny peach fuzz.. it really does make a Huge difference in how your makeup applies. But now when I date a guy I won't hide my shaving! I'll just say "All the ladies are doing it! 😁😁😁
NotAGamePlayer Summerlin Girl I been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years and hes walked in on me doing this 😂. He got his razor out and was like "me too"
I've been using a regular razor for many years and haven't had any problems at all. The eyebrow razors irritate my skin and imo don't do as good a job. Basically, do whatever you're comfortable with and what works for you!
Not entirely true. When you shave you essentially blunt cut the hair. So when the hair keeps growing it looks thicker, because the hair is cut bluntly at the end. But shaving doesn't actually make hair grow thicker.
Omg what's with all the negative comments? If you're not interested in this, don't do it, plain and simple. A lot of women shave their faces with no negative side effects. Just because you don't like doing it on yourself, what gives you the right to shame other people? If it works for them, then mind your own business. Live and let live ✌️
I started doing this in 2006. I'm Mexican. I use a pinch of Noxema cleanser and then run the blade like she demonstrated. I clean the blade as I go with alcohol. you can actually see the hairs but mine are not coarse or black. I then use Noxema medicated cream all over my face. I use a clean white terry cloth rinsed in hot water to gently wipe and cleanse my face. I only do this on special occasions. I use oil of olay night cream. And to remove makeup...Ponds cold cream. I'm 54 but I get mistaken for 34. Noxema is the best. And I started using sunscreen on my face and sun hats back in my late 20's. The sun is stronger than it used to be. Start young caring for your face.
I literally do the exact same thing!!! i have super dark hair .and it works for me I've been doing it for a year and no complains at all , love it and the razors are very cheap and reusables .
+adri cavazos Sorry for this dumb question, but does your hair on your legs grows thicker when you shave with a normal razor? Because when I shave my legs, the hair grews thicker and darker, so I'm scared of shaving my face with an eyebrowrazor. :/
Aishling K No it does not. And again, the hair does not change after you shave. You are not affecting what's under two layers of skin. What you feel is new growth and is just different than what you're used to. I have very lil leg hair that grows back after years of shaving. The hair on my arms that I also shave, but when I'm lazy and don't trim or shave them, it grows back fine and more sparse than before. When you have new growth you will feel the new blunt growth. So of course it feels more prickly than before you started to shave. If you don't like the prickly feel, just shave more often. Think about the guys that shave their head or facial hair. When they let it grow out, it comes in soft like normal hair. It's just the first initial new growth. Hope that makes sense.
+Diana Love i wouldn't recommend alcohol if her skin is sensitive. it will irritate her skin. i have sensitive skin and if i put alcohol on my face it will irritate my skin and then brake out. it works for thick skin. but great choice for non sensitive skin. :)
Yeah I broke out too when I used these razors. Iv considered threading since I get my eye brows threaded and have no problem breaking out but I'm too scared. lol
use a toner or witch hazel afterwards I have super sensitive skin and doing this helps with irritation and bumps just like men use after shave its the same concept
Removing hair from its surface does not change the growth of hair. You're not altering the hair follicle from where the hair grows from. You're not changing the hair internally. You're just removing what you see on the surface. Hair appears darker in color or feels thicker for two reasons when it's shaved. One, the hair looks darker because you've just removed all of the hair and you're now seeing clear hairless skin. When the hair begins to grow back, you're now seeing the hair color on the skin and it appears darker because you've seen the "lightness" of your skin without hair for a week or so. Now that the hair is becoming long again it appears "darker" because you're not used to seeing anything there. Two, the hair feels "thicker" because you've created a flat top on the top of the hair strand because you've used a razor to shave it. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and in our 1800 hours of schooling you have to learn hair structure, where the hair grows from and the stages that hair grows in. We also have to learn how to safely remove it and what the hair looks like when it comes back . Everything that you hear about shaving and waxing and threading claiming the hair comes back thicker or in larger quantities is A MYTH. The only way you can actually change hair growth is by damaging the follicle that it grows from. Laser hair removal zaps the follicle, damaging it so that hair doesn't grow from it. Chemotherapy and radiation alters cells and follicles causing hair loss and the hair can grow back in a different texture or color. Waxing very slowly damages the hair follicle making the hair grow back slower or not at all, because of the trauma you're causing the follicle by ripping the hair out so quickly. When you shave or wax etc. you're not adding more hair follicles to your face or arms. . That's just ridiculous. A razor or wax doesn't go inside your skin into the follicle causing the hair to mutate and become thicker or darker. .
to everybody's concern:this is a healthy way to do a non chemical deep peeling, what is fantastic for fuzz hair.it is not going to make your hair grow harder or stronger (everybody with eyebrows problems would shave them to have them back if it is true). It must be done only once per month but not dry shaving,a proper shaving with prewarmed skin (towel, hot water on the sink),shaving cream/gel and an aftershave lotion (it is not a primer, sorry, nikki tutorials).I've read about spanish Latinas girls with dark facial hair, the best thing is facial waxing (there are products developed for that area). With time,it's going to become weaker and even desappear.😊
Okay, I've seen your other vids, and your make up is good, but OML YOU ARE SO NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I'm not even joking, I clicked on this video to see what you looked like without make up and I was so shocked at how gorgeous you are.
I have been doing this since the 90s and my skin looks amazing! Glad to see other women embracing this and not being afraid to say they have facial hair. We all do!
I already try this method I tested first in little spot in my face and wait for a week and my hair grow back as normal not darker or anything weird ,so after that I shave my face 2 times per month at night and I she said It feels so soft and now my make up looks more flawless .
Girl, I give you the utmost props for making a video about this!!!!!! Us darker haired girls have to deal with so much "hair issues" and I think it is major cool of you to post a vid about this! You are so gorgeous and an inspiration go women. Keep being true to yourself and to us out here in the "RUclips" world. I love you for your true self and not being scared to post a vid like this! 😘
This technique is called Dermaplaning. I am a Medical Aesthetician and do this treatment weekly on patients. For those of you thinking that your hair will grow back darker or thicker, that's simply not true, even if you have black hair on your face. The hair that grows on your face is a different type of hair than what grows on your legs or under arms. This treatment should only be done once a month because of the way your cells turnover. You have cell turnover every 28-30 days. If you have acne, it is best to avoid this type of treatment because you can spread bacteria. Also, be sure to use a clean (sterile) blade for every use. This is a great treatment to remove about 2 - 3 weeks of dead skin cells off of your face and makes your skin have an immediate glow!
Lilly Smith It's much cheaper than laser and it's the only permanent hair removal process! It basically kills the hair follicle from it's root and it can't grow again. The process does take longer because it targets each individual hair but honestly it's helped me so much and I think it's worth the time I never have to worry about facial hair again
regardless of whether or not the hair ACTUALLY grows back thicker and darker, the point is that it APPEARS to be thicker and darker... that's enough for me to not shave. I have had bad experiences with shaving. 😣 if I could afford to get laser removal I definitely would.
i just tried this for the first time right now... and my face feels prickly... like i didnt have alot of hair at all but i wanted my makeup to go on smoother, and now my face is not soft at all, but prickly!!!
I'm Mexican (all my other Mexican ladies will know exactly what I'm talking about 😂) and tho I've thought about this, I'm scared to death lol I have a lot of hair on my forehead and cheeks and jawline. OK let's be real, all over my face and I do NOT want to be looking like chubaca when my hair decides to grow up!
I was honestly so scared to do it at first too! The first time I got it done, was three years ago by a professional MUA and I didn't realize the difference it made in my make up application! Especially cause I, too, was hairy as can be! (I'm also Mexican) lol, the hair does grow a bit thicker but it actually turns into a routine once you do it so often! I only do it about twice (maybe three times) a week because the hair doesn't grow back immediately. Honestly, I recommend you try it! From one Mexi to another! lol
DON'T DO IT LADIES! Unless you absolutely need to.... It will make your hair grow back longer, thicker and you will have to continue shaving for the rest of your life. I shaved one side of face longgg time ago by my sideburn. Let me tell u it was the worst mistake ever... to this day that side is longer, thicler and noticable. im even self conscious to let a guy touch that part of my face!
+DinaD D Actually in some cultures, they do shave a baby girl's head so the hair grows back thicker and more luscious, and results are apparently effective.
+Italianita Chick (Jenna Ice) educate yourself, honey. shaving will never get you more hair (otherwise so many people would shave their eyebrows lol) - a hair follicle can't just duplicate itself. when you shave, you cut off the pointy end that's why the hair can appear thicker. this effect will go away as soon as the hair falls out and new "smooth" hair grows back (yes, hair does that^^).
girl when you turned around to look at your window I got so scared thinking you Saw someone move or something hahahaha you just pointed out that it was dark
Don't be afraid of what he will think! I even do jokes with my bf about that, I was pretty nervious at first but he told me that it was ok, that he loves me and it doesn't matter. Be yourself with who you love :) (sorry about my english hahaha)
I don't really recommend this for people with darker or thicker hair because even though the hair itself doesn't grow back thicker, you will eventually notice a more prickly appearance in certain spots which can actually be somewhat unattractive and shaving your face over and over again becomes bothersome. It can also create ingrown hairs and irritation from the razor. Speaking from experience.
Alternative: I go threading 😊😊😬 I thread my eyebrows, my upper lip and chin! Super nice! And to exfoliate I use a texturized washcloth and use whatever facial wash I use and wash my face with a towel. Then I use the same wash cloth (different end of the wash cloth) and damp it with water and washed it off. 10/10 would recommend my face always feel super smooth and my foundation always goes on so smooth and it looks so natural ❤️❤️❤️ but I recommend using a moisturizer with a spf!!! Exfoliating your skin gives you more of a chance of sun damage! 😤
My facial hair is so visible on my cheeks and on my eyebrow area. I want to do this, but just because my hairs are too black and too thick I don't know if they will grow back thicker, that would be a nightmare. Help??
Mila Biersack Then I'd go see someone who knows about this, maybe ask your doctor if laser hair removal is optional, or ask what would work the best for you. Hope it works out xx
I've done this for a couple years now, on the lower portion & sides of my face. I have blonde body & facial hair, but its always been naturally pretty long/fuzzy. My hair did not grow back thicker or darker after doing this... No one call tell that I even do it. It definitely helps my skin look smoother under makeup. That's been my personal experience.
+elizabeth samano Sally Hansen makes some lovely hair removal strips for the face and body. They're lovely. Buy the ones for your body and just cut the strips, it's cheaper and you'll have more. :)
i agree! the hair might stop growing back all together over time after waxing. you will have stubble ppl. maybe not everyone but yes it can happen depending on ur hair and hormones.
DONT wax your face if you use acne products or chemical exfoliants. I got such a bad burn because no one warned me of that. But I'm sure it's true that it's again because waxing pulls so hard on your skin.
+Allison honestly you dont wax that often and the hair does grow back very slow and may stop altogether. when you age you lose estrogen good luck to all you girls who start shaving now. you'll wake up with your husband when your 55 and you'll have to shave. and yea you shouldn't do anything to your face if you have acne. they are sores and you will irritate them, shaving can do the same thing to acne. idc who does what but there is a reason why most women don't do this. there is noo need to do this honestly. and i think mostly all girls wax their upper lip. i don't see why you would need to wax your jaw or cheeks.... no need for that. if you have a beard and you're a woman go to your doctor and get medication. otherwise this is just another pointless thing girls are gonna become insecure about. do not shave your face.
thanks so much for this video! I've been shaving for a few months now and I love it. I was really hesitant at first because I have sensitive, acne prone skin but I can promise anyone who tries this, if you prep your skin correctly, this does wonders!
okay has anyone tried this that has DARK hair on their face?!?!? I really want to try it on my cheeks.. I have dark italian hair on my face that i have always wanted to get rid of. thought of lazer hair removal but if this is a better pain free option i would love to try it if it doesnt make it grow back thicker and darker. LET ME KNOW :)
+MakeupbyKassie I am Cuban so I have dark and thick hair and I tried this a month ago and it hasn't even started growing back in yet and if it has I haven't noticed which means it's growing in lighter and thinner lol as long as you use these razors and not razors for your legs, you'll be fine! :)
+MakeupbyKassie i've recently in the last couple months started shaving my face, i too have dark hair on my cheeks, and i feel as if it comes back a little more course (towards the outer part of my face) at first but then its just your normal fuzz.
Ugh I'm scared because all the comments are saying not to but I am noticing hairs on my cheeks and I HAVE noticed that makeup is looking patchy where the hair is at.
A lot of people film their videos a week ahead so she might not have seen that. +they are friends so Nicole might have said that she should do that video or Carli said that she was gonna film that and Nicole said she might too. Idk
+SarahYvette1 what's odd? I mentioned this in my Septemeber favorites video and a TON of people requested it! In both videos then and now I thank Nicolw for teaching me. Sheesh always trying to make drama where there is none!! Nicole and I are good friends. Stop trying to stir up nothing.
+Carli Bybel hey hey hey I wasn't trying to start drama what so ever I was just commenting on how it was an odd coincidence that both you and Nicole decided to film the same video at the same time lol which has happened before between you two! I know you guys are friends and I love both of your channels and think the both of you are talented 😨😨
I have been doing this for ten years. I'm so glad that this is circulating in the beauty world because it really does exfoliate and and makes your make up look smoother. The only thing I do different is I use a regular razor and dove beauty soap. The dove gives just enough lubricant to make sure there is no razor burn. And I shave every week. If you have dark hair I would recommend waxing.
I've been shaving my face "like a man" meaning with an actual razor for about a year now, mostly focusing on above my upper lip or lmustache" area because I have very dark, thick, and long hair there, and nothing bad has happened, sure the hair will grow back within a week but then you just shave it again like you shave your legs, my hair hasn't gotten any thicker or darker etc hope this helps :)
+MAY7317 I threaded my upper lip once and it hurt so bad I will never do it again. I do my brows all of the time, but that area is so sensitive and it was very painful.
ultraheda Is this safe? I'm under 18, but I am in highschool. I want to start with gilette razors (because they're the only ones in my house) to shave my upper lip. I'm worried there will be noticeable stubble and the hair will grow back thicker. Is this a good idea?
ultraheda hey your comment was from awhile ago but really quick do you get a shadow after shaving your thick hair ????? And if so how do you go about it ?
I do this to and my makeup comes on more smoother and doesn't get caught in my peach fuzz which would make it kinda cakey. I have dark hair on my face but it's not thick and doesn't grow back thick it actually takes a while for my face to grow hair back thank god
LIFE changer! Thank you! I had no idea we could shave our faces and not worry. I noticed a huge difference in my skin the day after I tried this. It's felt and looked so much healthier
i've had many bad experiences with shaving in my life, i basically shaved my whole tummy when i was 11 and now it sucks so...i would never never shave my face :p
+Its Sammii i did it when i was 17 or 18. I grew more hair on my belly. So i would advise you not to do it. Frustrating i know. But its better you tell your mom if she can take you to wax it instead. I think that would be better.
+Its Sammii don't shave it it's one decision i regret! The best at your age is to wax it, and later you can do laser too :) but keep away from the razor
I have a weird question, since facial hair is so thin and fuzzy and wispy, I was wondering if I could use this razor on my thighs. My thighs have very thin hair that normal shaving razors don't cut. Would this little razor work for that??
It would take FOREVER, but it probably would. I gave up on shaving my thighs because the hair is so light and soft anyway it felt like a waste of time lol
I tried this and I been loving it (: my face feels smooth, and makeup definitely goes on 10x better. And looks 10x better. Mine isn't pricky or anything like that, I would personally say to do it at night, and before ! You was your face, because your natural face oils will help with the irritation it may cause, and afterwards wash your face with a gentle cleanser. And to not exfoliate right after. And I highly suggest to apply a face oil. It feels amazing afterwards.
Thank you for this video !!!! Some girls who do makeup tutorials do extra things like this to make their makeup look perfect, but would NEVER let us know! Thanks for being real! lol
I've been having insecurity issues with my facial hair, but now knowing this is a norm it made me feel so much better. 😭 definitely gonna go out and buy one of these :) thank you xoxo
I'm going to try this, because peach fuzz is annoying, it seems like when I apply makeup, any foundation or powder basically clings to the peach fuzz, making it visible. And it's an issue that people seem to rarely address in foundation tutorials/reviews.
I have extremely sensitive skin and have never experienced either of these issues , you just have to go in the direction of the hair. As soon as you go against the hair, that's when shit goes downhill lol
my sister shaved hr face when she was young because girls would bully her because she had long sideburns and she decided to shave and made her grow a beard over time her hairs come thick and she suffers alot because of it now shes in high school and she is always hiding her face and neck and makes me sad because she has to go through that because she got influenced by her bullies dont shave over time its gona come out more thicker
candy lovex not picking on anything bad I was just saying plus I don't wax because I always have an allergic reaction to it but I used to do all the time until that happened now I stick to threading
I have been doing this for 2 yrs since this video has been up . My skin has cleared so much and I don't get as much break outs and it's so smooth ! Makeup application is awesome and my hair has NOT grown back thick and black AT ALL I love doing this !
i know a girl who did that once and now she suffers from dark and thick facial hair ... she used to be normal trust me and she doesn't have problems of hormones or anything ... now she has to shave each time bcz hair grows faster and even when she shaves the skin is no longer smooth and white like it was in the first time ... now i t looks grey just like men skin after shaving .. the pores are more open she tries to cover that with make up but we still can see that the area is shaved.... ye333 it not feminin at all .. poor girl she is trying laser and other ways but none of them seem to work .... soooo GIRLS DO NOT SHAVE UR FACES .... try other ways they r simpler with no risk ... shaving is for men ... even my mom and grandma know this .. !!!!
Results: I tried it and It might hurt for a day or two if you do it harshly. You should be very gentle and avoid going over the same spot more than once or twice. It does feel prickly for a few days, then I don't notice it. It makes the face look much better, especially if you're a brunette like me. I wouldn't do it too often, though. It's a little harsh for sensitive skin.
I fully recommend this, I have really dark side burns that start at the tip of my ear and go to my jawline (love being Italian) this gets rid of them flawlessly without making them grow back thicker or darker I'm in ninth grade and doing this makes me feel WAY less self conscious it also makes your skin softer and brighter because it exfoliates you
That's not necessarily true. There are some women who unfortunately grow dark facial hair. One of my friends has had to shave all along her jaw line ever since junior high because she grew hair there.
Kimori Suto She didn't 'have' to shave. I'm sure people bullied here into thinking she had to. There is literally no reason for her to shave. Have you not seen that lovely Sihk woman who grows a full beard and refuses to shave it?
+Mossy Deer Bones if someone doesn't want to shave that's fine. She wanted to shave. She wasn't exactly westernised like your typical women over here. She was more middle eastern. (No, not Muslim.)
hi, I don't know about shaving effects but with my experience I can surely say that waxing, threading, plucking, harsh scrubbing definitely leads to thicker, darker facial hair.
( thread, wax, shaving, using Shaving cream as in Nair )
I have kind of a hairy face * embarrassing * & want to get rid of it.
Amen! Thank you for this. These comments were driving me crazy 🙈
+Emily Radka I wanted to write this explanation but since english isn't my first language and i'm lazy, lol, i didn't know to write it!
Thanks for this, i hope more women read this because i can't belive we live on the internet era and some ppl still belive the myths their granda told them and doesn't take 5 min to google about it
p.s. sorry for my bad english
+Emily Radka Not true. Even when you wax it after and it grows back "normally" without the end being cut, it still looks thicker than how it was before shaving. Beware!
+Meriem Bayoudh No it doesn't.
completely correct!
Which direction should you do this? Upwards or downwards? Thank you !
iickles downwards
Why not more than once a month? I did this one and it made my skin feel like thin stubble which I didn't like
Lana Is god If you do it more than once a month then you're constantly stripping your skin.
I only know what my clinician has told and done on me, and she was trained by the person who invented this procedure 😅
if my skin looked like hers without makeup i would literally never wear it again and strut around making people jealous ahah
Ikr her skin is flawless 😍😍😍😍
same
Yes me too hahaha, i always need to wear make-up else people will think i'm a zombie from the walking dead.
+Hannah Moussana or else i mean
+holly b But sadly she is fucking her skin up with so much makeup... but that is what girls do :D
+katrina travis aw :) you're sweet thanks beautiful!!!
+Carli Bybel omg thank you for replying 😍Haha your welcome 🙃
Same
I started doing this a couple months ago! I made a video all about it if anyone wants to see. I am Hispanic, I had dark peach fuzz & my makeup would just cling to the hairs on my face. After trying this my makeup looks great & all of my dry skin is gone!!
Blanca Cruz Subscribed 🙂
Aye we need more Hispanics on RUclips
did it grow back thick? darker? faster?
Did it grow back darker?
Sabrina Garcia have you checked Melissa Alatorre? Love her!
Hands up if ya basically have a beard 😂
Girl Mustache squad
Lol
I dont but thumbs upped because that's funny
i still get made fun of for it even if i tweeze and cover up with makeup
i got called a billy goat :/
*YOUR SKIN LOOKS AMAZING WITHOUT MAKEUP!*
love you carli!
Yes. Exactly! 😩😍😍😍 how tho?
+Milagros Díaz right!? I love her skin. and how hydrated and supple it looks
sorry my english is not very good haha
Lexy Rose she looks amazing without makeup
I could be out partying with my friends but I'm saying home at 9 o'clock on a Friday night watching a girl shave her face
Same

Hair LOOKS thicker/darker when it first grows back because the hair has blunt edges. But it doesn't actually thicken or darken your hair. But once it fully grows again naturally, it will be the same as before.
I know this is three years old but like the fact that it just LOOKS thicker and darker is enough to put me off it xD
Here is just a quick piece of information for anyone who may be wondering:
Shaving does not make hair grow back thicker.
Anakae Wiles so after you do this and the hair begins to grow back more blunt is it extremely noticeable? Like will other people notice?
One word, great results: waxing.
doesnt waxing create saggy skin?
+ranya x not anymore than applying shadow daily to eyelids lol
One word, ridiculously expensive, painful; waxing
+Sarah JU I'm allergic to wax!
oh damn, yh then just shave
This video is epic, taking something that is so taboo and making it not!! Helpful for girls who might feel embarrassed, amazing job carli.
I thought it was no shave November
hahahaha
hAHAHAHAHA
😂😂😂
LANA
Internet: won.
He got his razor out and was like "me too"
milky moo that's awesome 😂
I've been shaving my face for years and my hair hasn't gotten darker or thicker.
Do you use that type of razor she's using t can you use a normal one,but just using light strokes? X
Chloe Iles you shouldn't use regular razors, just stick to this type. I got mine at target, pretty inexpensive
same here, never had a problem with the hair growing back thicker.
I've been using a regular razor for many years and haven't had any problems at all. The eyebrow razors irritate my skin and imo don't do as good a job. Basically, do whatever you're comfortable with and what works for you!
+Sabayi it is a myth... i do it too.
I thought I was the only girl that shaved her face!! My mom once caught me doing it and looked at me as if I was mental!
😂😂
me too! my mom and dad think im weird for doing it lol
I do it too. It makes the makeup stay better 😂
jajaja .. i love moms!! lol :*
I've been shaving my face for yeeeears! Lol
The hair definitely grows back thicker if you shave it off. I've tried it before. It's better to get that area lasered off :)
Not entirely true. When you shave you essentially blunt cut the hair. So when the hair keeps growing it looks thicker, because the hair is cut bluntly at the end. But shaving doesn't actually make hair grow thicker.
+Nali Vlogs Exactly!
+Nali Vlogs ahhh I see, that makes sense!
I prefer epilation. Much better results!
+BeautyBiteXO💋 So your hair REALLY did grow back thicker?
I noticed one little darker hair grow back~hmm...
Who's here in 2019 after watching Jaclyns video hahaha
Faith Johnston 🙋🏻♀️
🙋🏼♀️
She's so damn gorgeous without any makeup 😩😍 like if I looked that beautiful I wouldn't even wear any makeup
One time I shaved some hair off my forehead and accidentally shaved my eyebrow! 😂
This made me laugh so hard 😂
what about your forehead's hair? Did it grow back? How often do you shave it?
I feel bad for laughing 😂😂
My boyfriend likes the fuzzies under my bottom lip -_- he plays with it and tells me to never get rid of it lmao -.-
hahahaha awwww that's cute lol
that is the cutest thing ever omg
+Arie Sanchez that is so cute!
you literally have the perfect boyfriend!
MARRY HIM. That's definitely a keeper!
I literally do the exact same thing!!! i have super dark hair .and it works for me I've been doing it for a year and no complains at all , love it and the razors are very cheap and reusables .
+Alyanah Rivera I have black hair and I'm Hispanic and my facial hair has never grown back darker or thicker. Everyone is different though.
+Alyanah Rivera hey girl ! to be honest with you nope, at least not in my case.
Just curious, does it feel prickly after you do it? And what's the longest you've gone without shaving and has your hair ever been more obvious? :)
I shaved my face a couple of times and it broke me out horribly :( beware if you have a sensitive skin
Iv considered threading since I get my eye brows threaded and have no problem breaking out but I'm too scared. lol
+BeautyByEwa Yeah me too...so annoying ~ hopefully we can figure something to overcome this soon--I'm thinking more exfoliating before and after.
use a toner or witch hazel afterwards I have super sensitive skin and doing this helps with irritation and bumps just like men use after shave its the same concept
Stay away from Nair for the Face or any wax strips for the face if you have sensitive skin as well because they break me out so badly. :(
your eyebrows are so naturally nice!!!
You look so amazing first thing in the morning and without makeup! Beauty xxx
2:42 looks like the start to a creepy horror movie!!!! haha
Lol
We all do!
I already try this method I tested first in little spot in my face and wait for a week and my hair grow back as normal not darker or anything weird ,so after that I shave my face 2 times per month at night and I she said It feels so soft and now my make up looks more flawless .
l try 1 side and l feel the hair not soft like guy beard 😞😞 are you feeling the same ??
Where do ppl get sicker razor from? !
wow u r so pretty even without make-up lol!
Seriously!! Lol
Ikr!! Lol
Lol!! lol
Yessss its unbelieveable that she's still so beautifull without makeup 😍
She's wearing a lip liner tho... 🙄😍
I think the best option is electrolysis! It's the most effective and the results are permanent.
What exactly is that? And is it expensive? I have only heard of laser hair removal and it was a fortune and never worked!
Haneen z Awesome! Does it hurt much?
Hi how many sessions did u do?
tresa aly Eleven. And saw no difference.
I do not recommend this to other ladies with PCOS. We grow hair faster and thicker than other women and this will all grow back in a week or so.
grew back in three days :(
Thank god I saw this
Thank you
thanks! i was so close to doing it as well...
+Tay Griggs whats PCOS?
regardless of whether or not the hair ACTUALLY grows back thicker and darker, the point is that it APPEARS to be thicker and darker... that's enough for me to not shave.
Jasmine ja it is!! so gross!... i wonder how long its gonna be like this.. i dont dare to do this again..
+Natasha Robson-Moe still prickly ? i tried this too :( and my face feels too prickly.. do you still shave your face ? i really want to know !
+Natasha Robson-Moe i did it and it wont go back to the way the hair was before you started sadly :(
my face hair doesnt grow blackk im happy and i still shave
If it's prickly, you didn't get close enough of a shave.
Try it again with a better razor, and moisturize afterward.
She's naturally beautiful
I'm Mexican (all my other Mexican ladies will know exactly what I'm talking about 😂) and tho I've thought about this, I'm scared to death lol I have a lot of hair on my forehead and cheeks and jawline. OK let's be real, all over my face and I do NOT want to be looking like chubaca when my hair decides to grow up!
*Back not up ha!
Exactly so what shall we do ):
I was honestly so scared to do it at first too! The first time I got it done, was three years ago by a professional MUA and I didn't realize the difference it made in my make up application! Especially cause I, too, was hairy as can be! (I'm also Mexican) lol, the hair does grow a bit thicker but it actually turns into a routine once you do it so often! I only do it about twice (maybe three times) a week because the hair doesn't grow back immediately. Honestly, I recommend you try it! From one Mexi to another! lol
+anaizav lol you guys should try facial hair bleach!! sally hansen has one :)
mmhmm I am the same way. so glad to hear I am nor the only one that feels this way. I think I am gonna give it a try and hope it help
Any Mexicans try this? I feel like we have more facial hair, darker & thicker. Did it grow back darker??? I have lots of peach fuzz mostly.
i know I'm scared to try it D:
same, i just bought a razor but scared to use it
lol I did it with the eyebrow razor. Idk it feels smooth but I mean you can feel that I shaved. Make sense ? :3 but it came off easily
I need to know
Cindy Gonzalez I did it, and I mean you can feel like that I shaved. Like not stubby but it feels like shaved hair. Idk how to explain xD
What woman shaves their head? it doesn't work that way either ...
It does... Carly said so herself and many others
+DinaD D it will grow back thicker
+DinaD D Actually in some cultures, they do shave a baby girl's head so the hair grows back thicker and more luscious, and results are apparently effective.
+Italianita Chick (Jenna Ice) educate yourself, honey. shaving will never get you more hair (otherwise so many people would shave their eyebrows lol) - a hair follicle can't just duplicate itself. when you shave, you cut off the pointy end that's why the hair can appear thicker. this effect will go away as soon as the hair falls out and new "smooth" hair grows back (yes, hair does that^^).
Hahaha I totally do this. How great does your makeup go on the next day!! 😁😍
i do laser hair removal and i love it!!! been doing for 8 months now and plan on doing it for another 3 months 😊
how much is laser hair removal?
+Jenni Silva depends on the area you want to get it done. i do facial and it costs about $30 dlls. BUT i get it done in TJ so, its much cheaper
+Jessica Salgado whats TJ? that is a decent price for laser.
you do it once a month? does it ever grow back? i might do it aswell but i'm scared that it will grow thick
***** TJ stands for Tijuana😂 Angelina L RnBMusic R yes it does but much thinner. I do have some bald spots tho. I guess that means it works! Haha
girl when you turned around to look at your window I got so scared thinking you Saw someone move or something hahahaha you just pointed out that it was dark
Been doing this since scary movie came out lol
Lmao that scene was hilarious😂 Cindy even shaved her tongue Lmfaooo
I thought I was the only one 😂😂😂😂
Dude! I freaking love your videos! Can't believe I found this comment by you on here
Haiti brant
I always hide when i do this so my bf doesnt see me or else he will be freaked out lol
haha same. don't wanna scare him off lol!!
Hahaha 😛
+Jennifer Manuel me too :D :D lol
me too :D
Alternative:
I go threading 😊😊😬 I thread my eyebrows, my upper lip and chin! 😤
She didn't say "Thank you for watching" for the first time ever 😱
Yes she did
+Starlyn Jennings she means at the beginning of the video, that's what Carli normally does.
+AminaB91 yeah!! At least you got me 😂😂
She did say it at 9:22
+MsCocomint but not at right at the start like she usually does jheeze!!
My facial hair is so visible on my cheeks and on my eyebrow area. I want to do this, but just because my hairs are too black and too thick I don't know if they will grow back thicker, that would be a nightmare. Help??
I'd leave it to be, and let that risk pass. Just think about how sad and scared you'll be if you should happen to grow a beard!
Susann Amundsen I will surely not wait and let my hairs stay this way. I will remove them, with waxing or with shaving.
+Mila Biersack If your hairs are black and thick, it my be more beneficial to have them lasered.
monymony68 But what should I do in the meantime? Laser hair removal is quite expensive. Should I start shaving my face then?
Mila Biersack Then I'd go see someone who knows about this, maybe ask your doctor if laser hair removal is optional, or ask what would work the best for you. Hope it works out xx
I'm so going to try this !
I have a lot off facial hair. I do want to shave it, but Im kinda scared. Don't want my hairs to grow back thicker.
+elizabeth samano if you're really scared, patch test an area first
wax
Use the olay creme hair removal. I love it and your hair will not grow back thicker or darker
Get laser hair remover. Don't shave your face.
+elizabeth samano Sally Hansen makes some lovely hair removal strips for the face and body. They're lovely. Buy the ones for your body and just cut the strips, it's cheaper and you'll have more. :)
Honestly who looks that good when they just wake up. Gorgeous
I just wax! Kill the cuticle!
+Amber Mancha i think waxing the face promotes aging. I could be wrong but I heard from all the beauty stars that waxing is not good for ur face
i agree! the hair might stop growing back all together over time after waxing. you will have stubble ppl. maybe not everyone but yes it can happen depending on ur hair and hormones.
they say that waxing weakens the skin and makes you age, I've heard this about eyebrow waxing but idk of its true
+MakeupbyKassie i have done this and it really does leave your face feeling so soft . You should try it.
doesnt grow back thicker and crazy? :)
+MakeupbyKassie nope!
Do it
i recommend threading or waxing or theres also a rolling tool thing? i dont really know what its called but it plucks out all the hairs
+Emily Annette it's called an epilator :)
Samm Buen dont do it
Amina Zubair wtf why you trying to mislead her
Didn't Nicole just talk about how she shaves her face and she wanted to do a tutorial on it and now Carli is making the tutorial? Odd...
A lot of people film their videos a week ahead so she might not have seen that. +they are friends so Nicole might have said that she should do that video or Carli said that she was gonna film that and Nicole said she might too. Idk
+SarahYvette1 lol girl, i was just thinking the same exact thing!
I've been shaving my face "like a man" meaning with an actual razor for about a year now, mostly focusing on above my upper lip or lmustache" area because I have very dark, thick, and long hair there, and nothing bad has happened, sure the hair will grow back within a week but then you just shave it again like you shave your legs, my hair hasn't gotten any thicker or darker etc
hope this helps :)
Try threading if it's only the area above your lip it's waaay more comfortable and softer
Justice2ThePlayer no way you will have a manstache
ultraheda hey your comment was from awhile ago but really quick do you get a shadow after shaving your thick hair ????? And if so how do you go about it ?
swiper no swiping
Life Is Good, You Should Get One
lmao!!!!
Same ):
Same thing here. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the extra hairs on my tummy?
+Grace O thank you! Should probably try that out
+Its Sammii i did it when i was 17 or 18.
Liz Taylor and Marilyn Monroe did this daily .... and they were known for their complexions...
Did they? Thanks for the info. I never knew that 😊.
Really?!
I didn’t know that either
Not daily tho I think.
I have a weird question, since facial hair is so thin and fuzzy and wispy, I was wondering if I could use this razor on my thighs. My thighs have very thin hair that normal shaving razors don't cut. Would this little razor work for that??
Dont shave it just let it be
don't shave it!
It would take FOREVER, but it probably would. I gave up on shaving my thighs because the hair is so light and soft anyway it felt like a waste of time lol
+tcollinsx I would like to have light and soft hair too. Less work because when you wouldn't shave you legs still looks great! :DD
Why use that small razor, just get the regular ones because it'll get the job done faster & girl you can shave hair off all over your body
It feels amazing afterwards.
shaving DOES NOT make the hair come back thicker or darker. that is a myth.
Courtney K yes it does dont mislead people
L a y l a uh no it doesn't. there's facts behind it. it makes the hair have more edge when it grows back that's all.
Thank you for this video !!!!
Some girls who do makeup tutorials do extra things like this to make their makeup look perfect, but would NEVER let us know!
Thanks for being real! lol
In dying to do this but im so scared 😩😩
Don't do it! It's a trap!
Polabear 😄
Polabear why
Just DO IT
Don’t do it
I've been having insecurity issues with my facial hair, but now knowing this is a norm it made me feel so much better. 😭 definitely gonna go out and buy one of these :) thank you xoxo
Once you do this you can't stop
Lauren Hobbs true i cut my peach fuzz with scissors and it became darker but i have now lasered it
Did you wash your face before you recorded?
+ahodnovich yes I wash it every morning and every night
This is so interesting 😱
honestly went and shaved my face right after i watched this, not my first time shaving my face but you reminded me how much i loved it
I'm going to try this, because peach fuzz is annoying, it seems like when I apply makeup, any foundation or powder basically clings to the peach fuzz, making it visible. And it's an issue that people seem to rarely address in foundation tutorials/reviews.
chris green Philly dont do it
did she fill her upper lip with fillers?!?
Don't forget to mention the acne and ingrown hairs you can get on your face from shaving.... Its not as "healthy" as you think.
+Casey Loove Good point! Love the display pic! Lana
Casey Loove if you shave it correctly then it t has a lot of benefits
Casey Loove thas why you shave downward not upward
I have extremely sensitive skin and have never experienced either of these issues , you just have to go in the direction of the hair. As soon as you go against the hair, that's when shit goes downhill lol
You look so beautiful with or without make up, that's hard to find around here, love your videos and the fact that you're talking about facial hair
But doesn't it feel prickly whilst growing back?
Pooja kaur no, just fuzzy
my sister shaved hr face when she was young because girls would bully her because she had long sideburns and she decided to shave and made her grow a beard over time her hairs come thick and she suffers alot because of it now shes in high school and she is always hiding her face and neck and makes me sad because she has to go through that because she got influenced by her bullies dont shave over time its gona come out more thicker
She should check it out because it could be pcos if she already had dark hair before and a beard now.
probably thats why im making her go to the doctor to get that checked up
+candy joceline buy her blonde face cream to dye it blonde! help ur sis out gurl!! its only like 5$
Just wax girls, it only hurts for a moment! By shaving you can get marks on your skin which idk if you can remove.
Waxing can take a toll on your skin for the long haul.
+Melanie Vega hm i usually only a wax once per week, but you can have a mix like thread the other week.
It can lead to wrinkles later on and many other stuff
+Betzy Ovalle Is that so. Every method has its consequences, lets stop picking on the bad stuff.
candy lovex not picking on anything bad I was just saying plus I don't wax because I always have an allergic reaction to it but I used to do all the time until that happened now I stick to threading
I have been doing this for 2 yrs since this video has been up . My skin has cleared so much and I don't get as much break outs and it's so smooth ! Makeup application is awesome and my hair has NOT grown back thick and black AT ALL
I love doing this !
Important tip shave in Downward direction
Would doing this be good or bad for mild/moderate acne?
i know a girl who did that once and now she suffers from dark and thick facial hair ... she used to be normal trust me and she doesn't have problems of hormones or anything ... now she has to shave each time bcz hair grows faster and even when she shaves the skin is no longer smooth and white like it was in the first time ... now i t looks grey just like men skin after shaving .. the pores are more open she tries to cover that with make up but we still can see that the area is shaved.... ye333 it not feminin at all .. poor girl she is trying laser and other ways but none of them seem to work ....
soooo GIRLS DO NOT SHAVE UR FACES .... try other ways they r simpler with no risk ... shaving is for men ... even my mom and grandma know this ..
Lip filler? The shape looks different on the top.
you sound like Mila Kunis 😍
I was seriously just thinking this!!!!! Lol
Wtf is this shaving your face? What is there to shave? I have tiny invisible peach fuzz, why would anyone shave what's not visible?!
Just so that make up goes on smoother and looks perfect
how is that........gay.....lol...
maybe you didn't watch the video but she said that it makes her makeup look better.
Trust me when I say that tiny "invisible" peach fuzz is VERY visible.
Especially if you wear makeup.
Some people have darker which is why she said when people have lighter 'invisible' fuzzies you don't need to do this
I fully recommend this, I have really dark side burns that start at the tip of my ear and go to my jawline (love being Italian) this gets rid of them flawlessly without making them grow back thicker or darker I'm in ninth grade and doing this makes me feel WAY less self conscious it also makes your skin softer and brighter because it exfoliates you
On the list of things that I don't care about, the hair on my face is number one.
literally, theres no point to it 😅
as a girl who can grow a full beard thanks to PCOS... gtfo
lol im with you cyster
.
m
Maria Evangelenos then why are u here
I'd say no don't shave it unless your doing laser treatment
If my face wasn't supposed to be fuzzy then it wouldn't grow fuzz
+Mossy Deer Bones thank you..... someone gets how i feel lol
(No, not Muslim.)
... why did you add the 'No, not Muslim' part?
hi, I don't know about shaving effects but with my experience I can surely say that waxing, threading, plucking, harsh scrubbing definitely leads to thicker, darker facial hair.
